Ended up eating here during a business trip to Escanaba. Absolutely the worst part of this restaurant...that it took me 4 days of a 5 day trip before I found it! Absolutely blows the competitors out of the water, especially for the area. If you're sick of eating at greasy spoon diners and fast food joints, you'll be in heaven with the Stonehouse.
Attentive servers and good prices for what you get. Going to be on the higher end for the area; but the quality of the food and the service makes it well worth it. -

Very good food. Large menu selection with adequate pricing.
Seemed like a much older crowd for lunch. The decor has an older feel as well.
But the food was very good. I got the chicken stir fry, very tasty with lots of vegetables. -

You will not find a better restaurant in Escanaba. Though I feel the quality of the food has slightly declined over the past 5 or so years it is still by far better than any other restaurants in the area.
The wait staff is usually very friendly and have accomodated large groups (up to 22) for me before. I usually try their specials and am pleased with them. Everyone you ask will tell you a different favorit dish so it seems its hard to go wrong. -

My husband and I relied heavily on Yelp to guide us to good restaurants on a recent trip back to the East Coast from Minnesota. As every traveler knows, it's difficult to eat on the road, as there is really nothing except fast food along the interstates (and that food is nearly always unhealthy). On this particular trip, we decided to travel through northern WI and MI, which took us through Escanaba and right to the Stonhehouse. My husband had a shrimp dish that he is now trying to recreate in our kitchen. My scallops entree was marvelous. All in all, everything was absolutely perfect - the comfortable and attractive dining room, the impeccable service, and - of course - the excellent cuisine. Following our meal we were rejuvenated enough for a few more hours of travel before we stopped for the evening. The Stonehouse will be remembered fondly as an oasis for us on the UP.

This is the best restaurant in Esconaba.
Food here is amazing and the service is as well.
Atmosphere is classy and very warm yet you are not out of place while wearing jeans and a t-shirt.
I enjoying dinning there each time while I visiting and look forward to it as well.
Highly recommend it while in the UP. -

The Stonehouse is a far better restaurant than you'll think that you can find in the Upper Penninsula. The food in the smallish dining room is delicious and affordable. The bar seems classy, though I haven't spent much time there.

By far, the Stonehouse offers the best food in the Escanaba/Gladstone area. Parking is a problem, though.

My family visited Escanaba in July 2008 and July 2009 and we ate here both trips...It is good food with very good service at very reasonable prices. We will eat here again when traveling to Escanaba.
