I don't understand all these people who hate him. As for the commercials....it's radio my friends, it has a zillion commercials just like tv.
Steve rocks my mornings every day. Ok, maybe he's sexist and sort of a dirty old man, but come on, he's hysterical. He cracks me up constantly.
And Buzz, i heart you too. You chime in at the perfect moment with your comments and I love it when you start cracking up in the background at what's being said.

Morning radio is possibly one of the worst things in life, and this show makes me want to drive my car in the lake. After upgrading to a new bigger and badder set of wheels, I was disappointed to find out that I'd have to lay down a month's rent to install Ipod integration. Boo to that and the fact that my CD burner decided to stop working right after the vehicle switch! Sadly, until my next bonus, I'm stuck with morning radio on my hour long commute to the burbs.
I've tried to stomach all the stations on my presets; however Steve Dahl has got to be the worst of them all. I feel dirty just listening to his creepy voice and words cannot properly express my disdain for his sidekick Buzz whose contributions can be likened to those of a soundboard. He once read an ad for taco bell while eating a taco (chewed as he talked into a microphone) and has been dead to me since.
I like Jack FM enough to keep it on my presets, and unfortunately while skimming through the crappy sea of Eddie and Jobo, Eric and Kathy, and the unbearable Drex, I occasionally try to see if Steve may be the lesser of all evils that morning. As of now, they're still batting .000. If you'd like to hear two dirty old men talk about nothing (while possibly chewing food), this may be your morning show. Someone should really inform them that saying "chicks" is lame unless you're being facetious. Then again, I guess creepy old men have to have something to listen to on their commutes as well. (Shudder)

Back when my job called for a whole lot of driving around, I would listen to Steve Dahl's show every day when he was on WCKG (though I preferred Stan & Terry), and it's okay ...as long as you understand that Steve Dahl's biggest fan is Steve Dahl. I mean, sure, there's nothing original or attractive about a somewhat dirty old man who talks too much about "hot chicks" and who tells his audience way too much about the minute details of his life, while taking a "like I care" attitude with others, but sometimes, yeah, he's kind of funny.
Since he moved to JackFM, I only hear him briefly on the mornings I drive down to get the Madison bus. And if there's a commercial on then, I don't usually hear him at all, unless he's reading ad copy directly after a long commercial break, in which case I listen to WGN instead.
Lately all I hear is his Drew Peterson impression, which was funny at first, but even I, someone who hardly ever listens to his show anymore, am bored with it. Also his gay man impression and Tyrone the traffic reporter are tired and just offensive enough to be that good ol' Steve Dahl brand of "edgy." I prefer funny.
The stars are mostly because I love Buzz and have a radio-crush on Pete.

I'm not gonna lie, I just listen to his crude, narrow-minded remarks in the hopes that hes gonna do his Drew Peterson impression. Its tired and it is an absolute crap impression, but it tickles me -every- time.
Why is it called the Steve Dahl show when there's more commercials than show? Even when Dahl is on air he spends half that time reading ad copy. And then on the rare occasion he actually does make me laugh, he goes straight to commercial like he hit one out of the park. I give two stars, one for Buzz and one for the riot he caused at Comiskey.

I strongly dislike you Stevey! To me, you're a sexist pig who mocks everyone and brain washes your listeners, like my boyfriend!
I am down with Erika on this one. I can't stand this show. I used to love listening to this station in the mornings. Steve Dahl is so boring & so not funny.

This jerk is still "coasting" on that ridiculous "Anti-Disco" campaign he instigated over 25 years ago (along with some other "shock jocks" at rock stations around the US at that time). Yeah, Stever, let' s think about how successful that was: you got some free publicity, you cost your beloved White Sox a game (and got banned from the park for several years afterwards), and disco died...oops, morphed into house, techno, industrial, dance-pop, electronica, drum&bass, etc., etc., way to go guy, but you get props for the publicity bit.

Some of his stuff is great... most is average.
He is witty and very quick. I listen to the show when I can... in fact I would sooner listen to him and even the commercials than scan the radio for a song I want to hear.
So that is a complement... of sorts.
I am a huge Dahl fan. Huge.
He is now on in the AM on JACK FM.
He is the only talk I listen to.
He is freaking hilarious.
Steve does the best radio in Chicago. He is clever and funny. He really does not have a schtick, he is just a seasoned radio pro, who puts on a very good broadcast.
Sure, he's not for everybody, and he does have a lot of rich guy complaints and tangents that can be annoying, but I really like his show.
His blog is also pretty good.
The Stever does not play to my demographic, but I find him endearing... to a point.
Why? Steve and his co-host, Buzz Kilman, concentrate a little too much on hot women and prurient details in news stories. It's like listening to my dad and his friends talking about who they'd like to bang. I don't want to think about who old white dudes wish they could have sex with! But then again, I'm not in his demographic.
Steve makes me laugh when I tune into his program. He's been hitting high notes lately with his take on the Stacy Peterson case.
But he could be better. I began to believe this during his show's transition from WCKG to Jack FM a few weeks ago. During the week-long "Best of Steve Dahl," I was able to hear circa-1999 interviews with luminaries such as Jeff Tweedy and Siskel and Ebert. These interviews were funny, informative and shed new light on both interviewer and subject.
These interviews just aren't on the show today. I wish I knew why.
Just as Bob Probert was better on the junk , so was the Stever. That being said Steve's show is strangely addictive. Roger Ebert summed it up perfectly by saying it was a radio show about doing a radio show. He is the definitive old grumpy white dude , but the real entertainment is in seeing how his mind works and what comes out his mouth.
I reluctantly started listening to his solo show after a long hiatus , I used to listen to the Steve and Garry show back in the day. He drove me nuts ,I was used to all the horse crap djs on the other stations and expected a constant stream of yapping , Steve had the gaul to take pauses when actually thinking of something. I was oddly intrigued by the arguments he had with his wife and children on the air , and to the best of my analysis , these weren't staged like some other guy's shows (Mancow anyone) , they were legit. Then he gets a Joe Walsh , or a Penn Gillette and something magical happened, he didn't interview them , he just talked to them. For over an hour at times , he let his guests really get to speak their minds . It's like the listeners are eavesdropping on a conversation between friends and the sharing of the most amazing stories.
Then we hear all of what is going on in Steves life, we hear when his son Pat and his son Mike start a fistfight , and Steve has to break it up and the 2 sons turn on Steve. We hear about when his clock in his luxury SUV is broken , and the problems he had getting that fixed. He somehow made all that intriguing.
I'm not going to say his show is for everybody , he's no Eric and Cathy (I hope they are both doused with acid! DIE!) , but give this guy a while, he grows on you. Unless your jamming to Eddie and Jobo (I hope they get eaten by wolves , they stink and I don't like them), he's still one of the best in town.
