Just last week I was very happy to spend the evening at The Stage, Ronnie Dunn was filming a video there. His show was fantastic !
Some part of the pleasure was that The Stage is one of the larger and better set up of the Bars on Lower Broadway known as Honkey Tonks.
The Stage also has one of the Better Sound Systems on Lower Broadway. -

Went here after a wedding with a pretty good sized group. What a great place to get aquainted with Nashville!
HINT: get here early! We got here around 10:15pm and it was already packed!
There is NO COVER! That is a huge surprise coming from a California girl. There is a cover everywhere in California. That was the first plus. Then you walk in and there is a live band playing what else, but Country music! It was great. If you are in any way claustrophobic, do not go here. IT IS PACKED to the door, but surprisingly not in a bad way. Everyone is so friendly, and unlike California there is no pushing and shoving and rude looks. Everyone just wants to have a good time and so you deal with the crowd.
The bathrooms were clean .. a HUGE PLUS in my book.
I have no idea what the drink prices were like, the guys int he group did all the buying ;)
The decor, although hard to see when you are mesmerized by the band, is cute and of course pays homage to the greats like Johnny Cash, Patsy and the rest.
Defintiely a must when in Downtown Nashville!Listed in: 21 and over FUN, Nashville Ya'll

Probably my favorite place on the main strip in Nashville. Always had the best bands, and was pretty roomy too, unlike some of the other places in the area (I'm talking to you Tootsie's). It wasn't empty, it was actually pretty full every time I came here, but not to the point where you were elbow to elbow with the person next you and getting bumped into every ten seconds.
My only complaint was the bitchface bartender here who thought it was okay to be rude to your customers... needless to say, I watched the band for a while and when I got too thirsty to wait, I took my business elsewhere. But the place itself was great. -

Great bar with a variety of clientele. Day before Thanksgiving, best band ever!!! Wish I wrote their name. They didn't take a collective break so nonstop entertainment, excellent voices and showmanship. Bar service was fast even though the place was packed. My favorite bar on the strip!

Sort of empty, so it's good if you're looking to get a table. Not so great if you were looking for a hopping atmosphere.
So the band was awesome! However, the lead singer was a douche. He was this arrogant guy who had no reason to be--the jerk factor was high with this one. The only person on that stage who had a reason to be cocky would be the little guy who looked like he was about 12 on the guitar. Now HE was awesome!!
Nobody drank here because it just wasn't...welcoming. Very strange bar, for sure!Listed in: Rockin' Around Nashville

I was in Nashville last weekend. The Stage is a must visit when you're in Nashville. It does get crowded, and there was a line albeit short.
I liked the ambiance. I liked the band. I really enjoyed being here. -

This place is SO much fun! I LOVE LOVE LOVED it! We came here after the Wildhorse Saloon to listen to some live music and was so glad that we came!
There was no cover which surprised me because they would have made a killing off of it. The venue was a decent size and they had an upstairs and a downstairs, both equipped with bars. It was hard to see from down below so we went up to the balcony where we could look down at the band. The music was really great and super impressive. It would have been nice to have found a table but can't really complain.
I can't really say how the drinks are since I didn't have any but the lines didn't seem over the top and I didn't hear any complaints from my friends so I guess all was well.
I don't know what is about this place...but when I was there, I was just happy to be there. -

This was one of the bars we stopped when my boyfriend and I were in Nashville on a Thursday night. No cover and good music. Not too crowded and good atmosphere. I would go again next time I'm in Nashville.

This place is AMAZING!!! If you're ever in Nashville you must come here for at least one night of fun. The drinks are strong and moderately priced. The crowd is amped up and between the ages of 21-70... I don't know about you but partying with old people who are blitzed out of their mind is always a good time. This place has a live band every night and they sing everything from their originals to covers of classics. You have to respect that. This place has great ambiance and an all around great energy. You must experience it for yourself! It didn't hurt that I saw a used condom on the bathroom floor.... somebody was apparently having a little more fun than I was!

Absolutely awesome. No cover charge and a great county band!
The place was packed and though I am not a die hard country fan I really enjoyed the live band. Lots of people having a great time dancing and just... well... being country. Very nice staff I might add. -

Tons and tons of people... Overall, a pretty fun bar. Make sure to get a cowboy boot beer coozy.
The weekday music was more legit than the weekend music, which got a little repetitive. -

Went here to party on 4th of July. The bands were excellent and the bartenders were fast. Bouncers were also friendly enough and enforced the "No Smoking Indoors" policy with reckless abandon, which we all appreciated. You can't go wrong with this place.

Review from Jimmy G.
This was the most fun of any of the places we went on Broadway. (We never got in to Tootsie's since the line was perpetually way out the door.)
Good band with a country twang playing modern hits - including an oddly moving version of Purple Rain - competently and with a modest pass of the tip bucket every dozen songs or so.
At this point in the evening I was neither buying drinks nor looking at the ones placed in my hand. -

I have such a love-hate relatinship with this bar. I hate that there is always a line, I hate that the bouncer will let you cut the line if you are a pretty girl, but once inside I'll always have a good time. The band is rocking, the decor is fun, and I usualy find myself up by the stage bouncing around. Definitely one of the more popular bars along Broadway. If you are in town visiting, want to dance, and feel the "country" vibe, you should stop by, that's only if you leave Robert's Western World first.

This is a bar that's not anything fancy. We went hear to listen to some music and have a few beers before going out to dinner. Not one person in my group even ordered a beer from here, it was not a welcoming place to be. The band was ok, but it was annoying that he kept coming around the bar with a jug for people to put money in.....and when he found out we were from Chicago he rolled his eyes and walked away......ummm not a great way to get tips dude!!!!

Treated to Conway Twitty's son performing "Johnny B. Goode". You never know who will drop by. :)
Went on a Monday night around 5:00, thinking it would be totally empty...uh, no. The place was packed with concert-goers hanging out before heading over to the Garth Brooks concert at the Bridgestone.
Chaotic at the bar, but a nice, relaxed atmosphere where people really appreciated the music. -
Review from Will m.
Good country music, drinks were pricier, and I got in through the back to avoid the line. Bouncer commented that I look 18, and let me in anyways.
Party on :-) -

I escaped the rain with my boyfriend's parents by ducking into The Stage around 3pm on a Saturday. The live band was good, the girl had a really nice voice, and the atmosphere was very touristy. It was fun though, and I think we all enjoyed an afternoon beer waiting out the rain.

I had a pretty good time at The Stage while I was here in town.
In retrospect, it felt like a more compact Wildhorse Saloon, but not more bar and less dance hall.
The band was AWESOME! Great music.
It was packed, but we were able to make our way around just fine.
This was one of the last places we went to that night, so I was nearing the end of my road for the day. I'd like to come back here again when I am more awake. I think I'd have another good time.
You should check it out. -

Drinks are way to expensive, but the atmosphere is interesting.
Not a fan of country but always appreciate good music. This may not have been our favorite live music place of the night (all the bars on broadway have a band playing), but it is definitely someplace to say youve been. AND NOW I HAVE -

Definitely check out The Stage for live music. It has cool decor, nice staff, and decent size stage with rotating schedule of musicians, and even a "second floor" where you can sit and watch the entertainment from above the massive crowd.

For starters, I hate country music. Much like Rachel Ray, our society would be better with out it.
That being said, this bar is a ROCKIN PARTY every time I go. This bar needs to be experienced to be understood. It combines a small music venue with a bar perfectly. Also, NO COVER.
The bands are fantastic. This is truly a unique Nashvegas experience.
It was not uncommon for my buddy Josh to make out with random tourist girls here... it is something about the energy of this place.

Sorry, but any place that charges you $4 for a 12oz PBR unapologetically gets nothing beyond one star. Too fucking expensive, especially when EVERY OTHER BAR in the area is running some sort of drink deal.
Bar service is fucking slow and it is a small bar for a big crowd. Weak. -

Awesome 80's singing on Friday night! So much fun!!

Going to "The Stage" on a Friday confirmed for me that I was definitely in Nashville, TN. The country music band was rocking (they played a good amount of cover songs) and were doing a really good job of getting the crowd going. The place was fairly packed at around 11:30 and we had to work hard to get to the bar, it was worth it though and we ended up partying there for the rest of the night.
The dress is definitely casual, I was really over dressed that night since I was coming from a wedding rehearsal and could tell people were going "what is up with that weirdo?". Be warned the crowd can get a bit rowdy (not surprising considering how busy it gets), a bit of a fight broke out when I was there but the security sorted it out pretty quickly. Don't let that scare you away from this place though, it definitely seems to be the place to go for a lot of folks, including some of the Vanderbilt students.
I really liked that they even played some non country music and that I got to dance to Wonderwall :)Listed in: My Nashville Experience

It was one of our favorite bar on Broadway. Good bands, friendly servers, rocking good time. Like the others said, the drinks aren't cheap. But the music and atmosphere makes up for it.

Glad this place had more space than Tootsie's a few doors down. The place had a large stage right in the front with a band doing their thing. The bar was enormous with a good crowd, but not over crowded.
The place needed more people having a good time. There was only a few people dancing and most people standing around. Great potential though.Listed in: NASHVEGAS!

First bar I visited in Nashville, so at first I found it, just a tad rough around the edges. Was very crowded, but had good live music, and it's right on Broadway. Took me a bit to warm up to this place, but I would totally come back again next time I'm in town.

Sing that Song!!
This was the place to be! We were al Wild Horse and it was dead but had good burgers there. But we came here instead and they had a live band - not really country, they played a good mix of tributes to the touristy favorites for Nashville then threw in a few 90's alt in there.
But its not that big, has a great cool vibe in there. A lot of youngin's and a few cotton toppers. People dancing anywhere you wanted not just in front of the stage and people just hanging out. I had a lot of fun there!
Beer was 3.75 (don't understand the .75 but oh well) and I got a free soda since I was designated driver. Woo Hoo!
I can't imagine how packed that place would be on a weekend because it had a good size crowd tonight.

This place was super-fun. The 80's cover band on Monday night was really good and simply did not stop playing. Lots of drunk and pretty people - more than a few were on the way to Lucky Town

The best honky-tonk in Nashville as far as I'm concerned. For moi, a Saturday night in Nashvegas is not complete without a stop by my favorite watering hole. Both the early band (Mitch) and the late band rock with awesome country and some rock. The place is large and fills up with people looking to PARTY. Everyone is friendly, the vibe is energetic and you can't go wrong. I agree with Dan C, get there early, or make friends with the bouncers.
Each area of the bar has its own personality. The front porch, up 3 stairs, is my hangout. The mosh pit, up in front of the stage, gets packed but its a fun place to meet people you don't know and dance. Back in the middle it is quieter. Upstairs you have a great view of the whole bar. See y'all there!
Oh yeah, Monday night there is an awesome band that plays 70's and 80's rock (ie Boston, Kansas, etc).Listed in: The Places I Go Out to Party

I don't usually rate bars with 5 stars, but this place was so much fun it deserves the rating!!
We wandered over here on a Saturday afternoon, and the atmosphere was very chill and we sat at the bar and sipped a couple beers. However, we came back later that night, and boy is the place to be!!
The band (who I cannot remember the name of right this second...) was incredible and I still can't believe they didn't charge a cover!! We sang along with the band, danced the night away and even got our hands on a beer or four when taking a break from the dance floor.
We only planned to stop in for a couple songs and ended up staying until 2 on the morning! Definitely worth stopping by this place if you're in town! -

I'd give this spot 4 stars if only because it's the first place I heard "holler....then swaller!" -- the call for you to hoot and holler and then sink your beer. The music was good and in the afternoon before the insanely long line forms, you actually have space to enjoy it. This bar is for the people who need personal space when listening to live country in Nashville, because you're pretty much not going to find it anywhere else.

Review from Dina D.
The Stage looked like a fun place from outside, so we went in. There was no cover and a decent crowd for a weeknight. There was a country band earlier in the night, so that's why we stopped in. They played 80s in between bands, and the next band had technical difficulties and took forever to get on. But I imagine when there are no technical difficulties, this is a really fun place. And the cool thing about Nashville is that the scene is for adults like 30-40 somethings.

This is definitely a place to go if you want a rowdy crowd, cold beer, and good country music. Be warned though--if you go on a Friday or Saturday night, expect to wait in a LONG line! No cover charge which is a plus though. And, they have a front and back (alley by the Ryman) entrance, but both are usually packed.
I usually hit the Stage after a group of us have already been to several other bars. I never start off here! Fun to take groups from out of town, or just going out with the girls! Considered a honky tonk, but it's much larger--and newer thanks to a total renovation a few years back--than its sister bars next door. This definitely makes for a fun experience, having a lot of room to dance and sing along to your favorite old--and new--country songs.
It can be considered very touristy, but I know plenty of locals who love it just as much! If you are looking for a fun, and again rowdy, place to drink, check out the Stage.
