My gosh.. If I had to stop by Staunton for one (1) treat, it would be for this.
It's a tiny little joint, but you'll walk out with a little bit of solid cold concentrated 'happy'.
Best ice cream shop ever. -

The ice cream and gelato are wonderful. The flavors are switched up fairly often and there are some adventurous (re: awesome) choices. The portions are fairly generous for the price compared to other gelato shops I've been to.
Time your visit right in the summer because this is the only ice cream store in downtown Staunton and you will have to wait for your turn at the counter. However, it is worth the wait! -

Came in to look at the main menu, but in 5 minutes, a load of 20 tweens with their parents jumped in line and we had to wait 10 minutes to get in.
I got a small (2 scoops) of gelato and it was the PERFECT size: I tried the cheesecake flavor and peanut butter (both were amazing).
First time having gelato and I was NOT disappointed! Definitely go here!! -

Tried both the gelato & the sorbet. Both fabulous! But the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The folks who here didn't make eye contact with me and then skipped me twice. I let it go and let other folks go in front of me and order their $4 orders. When it was my turn, I smiled & ordered a $33 order. It just shows you: you never know who will order what so be nice TO EVERYONE!

The smell of waffle cones lured us in from the main street and we just couldn't help ourselves.
After gorging myself on Indian Food from House of India, I opted for the single scoop child size strawberry gelato. YUM O YOM that hit the spot.
That was the perfect size for me to satisfy my sweet tooth but not stuff myself with ice cream. It was one scoop for about $2 which is not too bad. The unfortunate part was that if you a re a fruity ice cream person, your options are strawberry and black raspberry. They had more peanut butter, chocolate and caramel flavors than anything else. -

my favorite place to go when i have a sweet tooth. They have all the classics but they also rotate some of them out like guinness stout and ancho pepper chocolate. Seems a bit pricey at first since the scoops are small but it's so rich that's all you need.

The texture reminds me of soft serve! I also really like that they recycle the containers that the ice cream is served in!

Fantastic flavors and rich smooth taste. Great little dessert place after dinner.

Very friendly staff and they let you try as many as you want, which I always love! The waffle cone was very delicious as was the gelato, I wouldnt say it is the best gelato I have ever had but it was very good. If I am ever tooling through Staunton again, I will probably stop by!

Best. Gelato. Ever.
This place is a must try in Staunton. It has an old soda shop feel with friendly staff and incredible desserts. The price was also not bad at all.
Perfect for strolling around downtown Staunton on a warm day. Next time we head to Staunton, I'm bring a cooler with dry ice so I can bring back a whole pan.
My only complaint is that my stomach is not big enough (yet) to try it all and they don't deliver to Lynchburg, which is only an hour and forty-five minutes away. Seriously guys... it's not that far. -

Very unique and tasty ice-cream/gelato/sorbet made daily in the shop. I think the owner found his calling. ;)
Definitely worth going a little bit out of the way to try it. -

Flavor like you won't believe. In great combinations. Yesterday i had strawberry-banana-blueberry (that is one flavor!). We stop in every time we are in that end of town just to see what new flavors they have come up with.
If you like ice cream and don't try this place you will have missed out on one of the great treats in the Valley! -

The gelato is perfect and prepared in house (seems like a no brainer, right, but many shops do not). The staff is friendly and helpful. If you're in Staunton for dinner, I say skip dessert at the restaurant and go to Split Banana.

I love The Split Banana! The staff is friendly and the gelato is FABULOUS! I've been to other "acclaimed" gelato shops in larger cities and The Split Banana is the best by far (and just down the street from my house)!

Superior gelato. We had a large - 4 full scoops - which was a bargain for the size. The chocolate, banana, and pistachio were all great. It was not overly sweet, so they all tasted of the named flavors, not sugar. Cookies and cream (Oreo) was a little too sweet, however.

Super cute gelato shop! The flavors POP (I settled on coconut and pistachio) in addition to being smooth, creamy, and colorful! Friendly people run this place. They clearly care about their community, the fridge is littered with neighborhood event announcements and they use local ingredients (even the honey)! Before you blink and realize (probably with relief) you're leaving Staunton give this place a taste!

We headed to the Split Banana following a wonderful dinner at Mockingbird down the street.
I was pleasantly surprised at the outstanding flavor of the Pineapple Basil sorbet. It sounds weird, but you have to try it. My family ordered a variety of flavors of ice cream and all of them were excellent.
We'll have dessert at The Split Banana again!
