My new fave spa in Atlanta. Not on BuHi, don't let the name fool you.
An overwhelming sense of calm washed over me as I entered the travertine entry. The space is expansive and quietly elegant without being ostentatious. Although having the check-in person call up my "liaison" to show me to the locker room was a bit smirk-worthy.
I've never felt less claustraphobic in a spa dressing area. The high ceilings, abundant space, nautral light and soothing color palette in creams, blue and deep chocolate all came together. I didn't want to leave the steam area. I love the tile wall. Spaaahhh...
My massuese Josie was an angel from above. Her welcoming smile enveloped me, and her hands were healing and applied the perfect pressure and technique. The candle-lit room, lots of steamy towels throughout the treatment, the best sheets I've had near my skin- I didn't want it to stop, even after 80 minutes. I would skip the light exfoliation (done with those scrubby gloves) and get a full massage next time. She even handed me a heated robe at the end. Top 10 massage. Maybe even in my top 3.
The jewelry case showcased fun and surprisingly priced baubles: I left with some cool dangly glitter ball earrings for ten ducats.
The only thing the diminutive Bliss has on this place is better snacks. Hot tea would've been nice, and it would be great if they set up a water station closer to the sauna. Beyond that, completely as good as it gets.
Cheers- -

The valet, the concierge, the spa staff - everyone is polite and respectful. I am a swimmer, and the immaculately clean salt-water pool was just perfect. I've been swimming in ozone-purified pools and mineral pools, but this was my first time in a saline pool, and I loved it. The pool is adjacent to the English gardens, where I enjoyed my lunch - spinach quiche served with seasonal berries and a glass of wine. I enjoyed the Trellis the Tresses treatment. Chris massaged warm grape seed oil into my scalp and then covered my hair with warm towels. After this, my hair was covered with a sweet smelling mixture of olive oil infused with rosemary, jojoba, vitamin E, and aloe. I also enjoyed a nice neck and shoulder massage. The whirlpool is nice, the cucumber-lemon water calming. I would give them 5 stars, but unlike every spa I've been to, they do not have snacks here. I always go to a spa on my birthday, and this usually means that the spa will be happy to gift me with a dessert or a small gift. 29 is the first spa that did not do this.

My friends and I had a wonderful spa experience here! As soon as we walked in we were greeted and were given a tour of the spa. The spa is beautiful and has a modern look to it. We were given robes and rubber flip flops. The locker room was large and cozy. They had a waiting room area with comfy chairs. There is water and flavored water in the room. Plus, some apples and trail mix. They were very helpful to all of our needs. All the toiletries are at the spa, so you don't have to bring anything. There is also a sauna, steam room, and hot tub. If you forgot to bring your swim suit they have disposable ones or you can go nude. I had to see what they looked like. It was basically a denim look and the material was like a table cloth material. I tell you it was attractive!!
Our party of 10 had a great time. I had a massage and a mani and pedi. The massage was so relaxing and the masseuse was awesome. I was totally relaxed and almost fell asleep. Before I knew it, the massage was over. The mani and pedi was the best one that I've ever had. They do not use any lotions, but everything is all natural. The ladies were easy to talk to and we had a great time chatting with them. The polish is a great selection of Essie. I also left without any nicks on my nails! Some of my friends that got a facial loved it. You could tell the ones that did get facials bc they were "glowing." My friend that got a pregnancy massage really enjoyed it too. They even have couple rooms so you and your significant other can be together. Everyone there loved their service and would def come back.
We had lunch catered and the food was delicious! For apps we had tuna tar tar on a tortilla chip. We also had an avocado with crab meat tart. There was a selection of drinks for us to choose from. For lunch we had a delicious mixed field green salad with warm apples and walnuts and a shallot dressing. I like that the best! There was a pasta salad with grilled veggies in a pesto sauce and feta. We also had 2 types of sandwiches. One turkey with brie and another salmon. I liked the turkey better. We had a birthday cake which was delicious!
I would def come back! We all need to be pampered every now and then and 29 Spa is def the place! -

I treated myself to a spa day for my birthday and it was really good. Peaceful and relaxing.
This place is beautiful.
I got there early and relaxed in the whirlpool/steamroom.
The staff was really nice.
I got a locker, robe, and warm neck pillow (which smelled and felt so good).
The massage was pretty good.
And I liked the pedi(their technique is a little different - in a good way) but the mani was not so good.
The facial and soak were excellent. The soak was my favorite part. And Angela did a really good job with my facial. The enzyme treatment that she recommended was just what I needed.
There was an annoying lady(customer) talking about something with the lady that tends the locker/waiting room area. She was way to loud and just went on and on.
I don't recall there being a bathing suit dryer, so when I got out of the whirlpool I had to twist my suit dry.
The snacks weren't great. There was a small selection. I remember pecans and water with lemon.
I enjoyed my experience overall and would recommend them if you really want to feel pampered. -

Disclaimer that this is for the actual space/staff/boutique/concept rather than a particular spa service being experienced. I went to special event here, and we were treated to a full tour of the spa and boutique by the staff, but I had to leave before getting one of the mini spa treatments they were offering us. But I did get a full view of all they had to offer, and also heard the owner of the spa, Lydia Mondavi, speak as well. She is married into the wine family, and has a line of cosmetics involving grape seed extracts and spas as well.
The key word to describe this joint is s-w-a-n-k. Very much a calm space, with traditional lines, they bill themselves as the largest in Atlanta (it takes up the entire 3rd floor), and with the ability to offer an array of services. You can get a pedi on the patio, lock you and your sweetie up in a couples' spa room and have lunch catered in, or have body treatments called things like the Sommelier's Silk. Ooh la la!Listed in: Atlanta Beauty Places!

Spas are not just for women!
I treated myself to a facial and a massage on a trip to ATL recently. I am not new to the spa treatments, but 29 Spa was a superior experience. Besides being located in a very upscale hotel on Peachtree, the spa had a very luxuriously soothing atmosphere where you felt pampered.
In the lobby I was greeted by a friendly smile and quickly taken to the locker room. 29 Spa has a locker room for men and women separately. Each I believe with showers and steam room and hot tub and a separate lounge with TVs and drinks. I like this separation idea, since at some spas I've been to, women will sometimes give the wonky eye when they see a guy in 'their' territory.
My facial was great, soothing. I got some tips from the lady who did my facial for help with common things like razor bumps and guy skin stuff. The massage was also great, the "right off the vine," which was both an exfoliating and moisturizing treatment.
At the end I left very happy and thought it was money well spent. -

We planned a girls visit to 29 Spa and booked pedicures. We really enjoyed the spa experience - robes, ambience, staff, complimentary glass of wine, etc. We enjoyed lounging on the terrace and just relaxing.
I give this an A-OK rating because the actual pedicure was not that great. I'm sure that the other services probably live up to their excellent rating, but if you are going for a pedicure, there are better options in town.
They do not use any water (no foot spas, whirl-pool soaks, etc). And that is my favorite part! Instead they use hot towels and some heated foot slippers. They massage your feet/legs for a bit, but it wasn't anything to get too excited about.
Again, we really enjoyed the spa and the experience in general, but I would not recommend the pedicure... I think you would be better off spending a bit more for a massage or other treatment. -

Great pedicure, still waiting for a pedicure in Atlanta to rival that of the Cooper Clinic in Dallas. Great atmosphere, very 40's.

My sister-in-law and I went here recently to treat ourselves and treat we did! This spa is absolutely amazing. I have been to many spas throughout the country, including those at the Four Seasons, and Ritz Carlton hotels. This spa easily competes at this level. The design is warm and luxurious, without being pompous or snobby. You get good old Southern Hospitality here!
Before our treatments, we went into the large jacuzzi, then the steam room. By the time I got to Nicole, the esthetician, my body was already feeling like a wet noddle. Nicole gave me an incredibly relaxing 80 minute facial (I highly recommend it over the 50-minute one). Slipping into a warm water mattress, I was immediately calmed. Three rounds of massage, including my neck, shoulders, arms and feet was exactly what I needed in addition to the facial.
My sister in-law's mani / pedi was awesome. After we had lunch downstairs at Neo and then trotted over to Lenox Shopping Center for some retail therapy. A great way to spend a day in Atlanta! -

Through my work I have been to many of the spas in town and Spa 29 is my favorite right now (I haven't been to St. Regis yet but it is on the list). At my first visit I had the "Right off the Vine" treatment which consisted of an exfoliation followed by a massage with a moisturizing oil. I was expecting more of a typical massage than what I received but was thrilled with the result. I was super relaxed my skin felt amazing. On my second trip I had the "sommeliers selection" which is more of a typical swedish massage. This was also a delight.
On top of very good treatments the chocolate brown and white decor is soothing not to mention the delicious wine offered up before and after. The facility is really beautiful. When looking for a great spa in town I highly recommend checking them out! -

This spa is what all spas should be aspire to be....from the entrance, the locker rooms, the service, the robes and slippers....if you want to be pampered, check into 29 Spa. There is a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna room, outdoor patio...and although it's a bit cold to sit out there now, I bet it's great during the summer months. It's super posh, super luxe, and of course, super expensive...but if you're like me, you'll check it out during spa-week for $50 and experience luxury on a budget. Oh, and did I mention there's a complimentary glass of wine?

As a guy, i am a big fan of the spas with the multiple steam rooms and whirlpools that you can use before and after getting a massage in the high end resorts in Vegas. I had not found one in Atlanta that offered anything close to this before going to 29 Spa this past weekend.
In the mens area they have a nice whirlpool, steam room and sauna as well as a gym and pool in the coed area. While they don't have all the options they do in Vegas, everything was very nice and I really enjoyed the hour before and after my massage. The only two minor complaints I would have was no cold plunge pool in the wet area and you had to take the elevator down to the indoor pool.
Overall, I found the people, service and facilities to be top notch and will be going back for an afternoon of relaxation very soon. -

I am a spa junkie. I've been to all of the world class spas in Vegas and have very high standards. I've been looking for a place in Atlanta with steam, sauna, whirlpool, and relaxation areas and so far have found none (aside from the Korean JeJu which is not my cup of tea). Spa Intercontinental comes the closest, and is still my current fav because of the organic product lines, like Jurlique, and one super ninja therapist named Andrea. Spa 29 is absolutely great for people who want to spend several hours relaxing. Its not organic, which is the only drawback in my book. Go for the "ripe off the vine" with Cindy - she is fantastic.

This is a wonderful place to go relax. You can arrive as early as you like, in fact, they encourage it. And the facilities are so incredible, you should! I booked a pedicure, and was reassured that a simple pedicure would grant me access to all of the spa perks, so I got there 90 minutes early. Having been to Canyon Ranch in Miami, I knew that I tend to wallow when given enough opulent spa areas to play in, and 29 has plenty.
I left my car with the valet (complimentary with spa services), and walked into the land of muffled noises and soothing colors. Upstairs, it just got better. After checking in, I was shown to a locker and given a robe, pumpkin-scented warmed neck pillow, Sensi sandals in my size. The locks are combination and plenty spacious, so your stuff is safe and you don't have to keep up with a key. Perfectly coddled and secure, I set out to explore.
The pool is downstairs, part of the fitness/spa facility, and is reached by an elevator that only runs between the two, so no need to parade in a robe in front of hotel or bar guests. It is heated, set up for lap swimming, and surrounded by cushy lounge chairs with lots of towels, with newspapers and men's magazines (Esquire, Details, etc) on tables beside them. I swam a bit and went back upstairs. Important note: the pool is coed, so wear a suit here. If you need to dry it, they have a nifty little machine by the showers that spins it dry.
Back in the spa, I checked out the water facilities on the women's side of the spa. They have a very nice sauna, whirlpool, and steam room. No aromatherapy in them, but it was very clean and I had the place to myself. The other groups of women seemed to have arrived in the morning, had lunch, and left just as I was arriving. (It was a weekday.) At this point, I wanted to make sure I didn't miss my pedicure, so I showered and headed to the relaxation room. The showers, incidentally, are fully stocked with razors, body wash, face cleanser, shampoo, and conditioner, all the house brand, and scrumptious! Of course, there was lotion in the dressing area, too, plus hairdryers.
Once in the relaxation room, I asked for a glass of Chardonnay and fixed myself a little plate of craisins and pecans from the snack area (they also had green apples, if you're really peckish). I sipped and read fashion magazines on a cushy chaise until it was time for my pedicure, when I was shown to the nail room. Important note: they do have male nail techs, so be sure to specify if you have a preference.
The pedicure was fantastic. I'm not sure how many people are put off by a waterless pedi, like the previous yelper, but I appreciated it. The jetted tubs are hotbeds of bacteria and fungi, and this place was on their game about giving a proper pedi that won't make your nails rot. They don't cut cuticles (which I've always read is horrible, yet everyone always does it), they wear non-latex gloves during the service, and they peel off the emory sticker and put a fresh one on for each foot. The basic pedi costs $55 and lasts about an hour, using grape seed oil, lotion, and a slew of unguents for the cuticle. Mine was a week ago, and my feet and polish are still flawless. Renita does good work!
When my pedicure was complete (about an hour), Renita put disposable thongs on me and I went back to the relaxation lounge to sip antioxidant tea and read French magazines while my nails dried.
I definitely plan to return. -

From the moment you set foot in Spa 29, you will never want to visit another spa in Atlanta again. I have been to Bliss, Jurlique, Chateau Elan, Spa Sydell, Blue Med... none of them can compete! This place is on par with the Canon Ranch in Las Vegas... the staff, the decor, the products are all 5 star. I've seen 3 or 4 different masseuses there and they all made me melt like butter, so you can't go wrong! Get there early and stay late so you can take advantage of the gorgeous jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Have a glass of wine on the balcony and start planning your next visit! This is by far the best spa in Atlanta and worth the extra $$

I recently went to 29 Spa as part of a Spa Week promotion. This is my second time at the spa. Normally, I am extremely loyal to Bliss so branching out is a big deal for me. Throughout this review, I will compare them to Bliss because they are just my absolute favorite.
As for the pre-spa treatment, this place was wonderful. The locker room is huge and there is plenty of room to spread out. They offered me a glass of wine this time when I came in, which they did not offer me the first time I went approximately 6 months ago. The robe and slippers were comfy and nice. Because it was spa week, the place was packed...every single chair in the relaxation area was taken. Because of this, the apples and trail mix were empty and no one came to refill them. Even after my treatment, I noticed the snacks were still empty. The locker room has bliss blown away. The one at Bliss is super tiny, barely enough room to get ready. However, the snacks at Bliss were better--brownies, cucumbers, cheese and crackers...and they are constantly being checked. Overall though, I would have to say my favorite "pre-Spa" experience was here at 29 Spa. The showers and whirpool were simply fabulous!
The actual treatments were just average. I got a facial and a massage. The lady who did my facial was super sweet, but she missed the mark. She kept saying my last name incorrectly and I have a very easy last name to say (she was just leaving a letter out.) She kept saying it repeatedly and it annoyed me. I guess I could have corrected her, but I did not want to be rude. When we got in there and I was laying down, I heard her rustling around a bunch of stuff and she had to leave the room to get stuff twice. Aren't you supposed to be prepared before your client gets in there? She also kept saying the words "SFP" instead of "SPF" and "roacia" instead of "rosacia." The facial was only average. It was supposed to be 50 mins but she spent so much time rustling stuff around and going in and out of the room I feel like she was actually "working on me" for about 30 mins. She puts my hands in these mitts that were supposed to be warm but they weren't. Then, she left the room for me to get dressed and she left my robe out (they put it in a drawer that keeps it warm while you are having your treatment.) However, she forgot the part that ties in the drawer so I had to stand there in the room until she came back in to check on me so I wouldn't walk out exposed. It was just not what I expected from a high end spa. The facial was decent, cheaper than Bliss, but it showed.
The massage was slightly better. Again, the technician was friendly but she asked me no questions. Not how hard I wanted it or if there was a target area she wanted me to work on Every massage therapist I have ever had in the past has asked me this.
Overall, 29 Spa is not bad. It's just not Bliss. I will go back again if there is a promotion like there was this time but I will not be paying full price. -

The only thing I could think of as I was enjoying my wonderful massage, the beautiful whirlpool, steam room and gorgeous areas for relaxing and changing is ---- this has GOT to be Buckhead's best keep secret! This is an elegant but comfortable and relaxing spa with fantastic services. Though Natural Body Day Spa has long been my favorite in Atl, I love having the option of going to a spa with whirlpools, steam rooms, etc... where I can relax for a while after a treatment. Absolutely top notch.

I've been to many spas in a couple of states, and this was by far the nicest, cleanest, and the best spa I've used. From the moment you get there, you are greeted with smiles, elegance, and complete pampering. This hotel requires you use the valet, but the gentlemen there are very nice and helpful. Monday through Saturday you can get you car wash and cleaned inside while you are enjoying the spa and it's many amenities. I got my medium-sized sedan cleaned inside and out for $50. Well worth it! I used a travelzoo voucher to get a massage with Lisa. She is fantastic! She made sure to focus on my desired/problem areas and made me feel revitalized and refreshed. Very calming environment. The saunas (wet and dry), large whirlpool tub, and showers are amazing. This spa provides lockers that you set a code for, which is a nice feature. I did not partake of the gym (this time). It was fantastic!! I will definitely go back and recommend to others.

Being a Atlanta native, I've tried my fair share of spas. I LOVE 29 SPA! Its very hard to find a spa that actually sacrifices space for a "lounge" room. Its nice to hang out after your massage instead of just being pushed out the door. I got the Fruit of the Vine treatment. I would skip the scrub part and go strait for the massage. I had Chris and he did wonders with my aching back! I can't wait to go back! I would bring my bathing suit also so I can use the whirlpool.

I checked this place out during Spa Week in Oct. 2010, and I gotta say...Spa 29 is SWANK. I'm not sure if the facial was the best that I've ever gotten (it was definitely a little short, the extractions weren't as thorough as I'd have liked, and I broke out a little the day after...thus, the one star off), but in terms of the spaaaaaaa experience, and all its trimmings, this place is IT. Tons of comfy, luxurious places to lounge around before and/or after your treatment(s). Indoor, dim lighting with pillowy couches - you got it. Outdoor patio with Restoration Hardware-esque chaises and overhanging deck cover so the sun isn't glaring in your eyes as you read one of their many magazine choices? Check. Nobody bothers you. Free wine. AWESOME shower facilities. Not crowded at all when I went, so I lounged and walked around exploring to my heart's content. Even took a dip in the hot tub (in spite of the warnings my sister gives me about folliculitis...damn it, the steamy swirly water was just too inviting!) This is the kind of place I could see having a special girl's day (e.g. if your mom/sis come into town; brides gathering with their bridesmaids). Expensive, yes, but definitely worth it on a special occasion, even if you don't get a treatment done, and you're just there to enjoy the amenities of the facility.
