Delicious lunch today at The Soup Loft! When you're in Granville make it a point to stop in. We had the tomato soup with goat cheese and turkey chili and the turkey sloppy joe. All were yummers. The homemade bread was the icing on the cake. I was glad to see the shop so busy. The owner was super friendly. I would love to support this great local gem every day if I could... but sadly I live 30 minutes away.

My discovery of the Soup Loft has to be comparable to the feeling of the first man to step on the moon. If you love soup this place is for you, every single time I have had their soup it has knocked me off my feet. Even types of soup I did not think I would like I ending up liking, but I really believe this is the only place that is would be the case.
Come visit the Soup Loft in downtown Granville above Whit's custard and help yourself to a hot bowl of soup and a fresh baguette.Listed in: My Neighborhood, Top Restaurants

This is a great little spot, kind of easy to miss if you don't know which sign to look for, but totally worth seeking out. The soups are delicious and inventive. I especially like the brown rice & black bean soup and the turkey chili. They also have a commitment to recycling and community involvement, which is a big plus.

Granville, OH
The Soup Loft is the only restaurant in Granville that I would say is fully deserving of a 5-star rating. The prices might be a little high for some people (four dollars for a large bowl of soup and a piece of baguette), but I think that the quality of the ingredients, the great service, the charming atmosphere, and, most importantly, the delicious food more than make up for it. The owner's name is Kevin, and he prepares and cooks all of the food himself. He truly loves food, and it definitely shows in the soups that he creates. He knows me by name and always remembers to recommend whatever vegetarian soups he is serving that week. There are usually six or seven types of soup available, some of which change on a weekly basis and some of which (like the tomato pesto with goat cheese) are available every week. My favorite soup is the black bean and brown rice, a delicious chili-like soup that is hearty and flavorful. Kevin puts a slice of banana at the bottom of every bowl, which surprised me at first but soon became my favorite part of the dish. Another perk of The Soup Loft is that all of the utensils are biodegradable, a bit of environmental commitment from Kevin that has definitely won my respect. The Soup Loft is located above Whit's, and the atmosphere is small but charming and cozy. You can take your soup outside in the summer if you'd like, or you can sit at the booth inside the Loft and look out the windows at the going-abouts on the streets of Granville.
In short: The Soup Loft serves wonderful, flavorful soups at a reasonable price. The bread is always fresh and is a complements the soup perfectly. The owner is friendly, environmentally-minded, and he cooks all of the food himself. It's just a wonderful restaurant all around.

Great soup! I've never had a bad bowl of soup, and Kevin's a great guy. Somewhat easy to miss if you don't live here, but it's above Whit's Ice Cream. Don't forget your cash, since he only accepts green paper.
