12 reviews for The Sofa Company
Overall, I would say that I'm pretty happy with my purchase. For what you get, the sofas are very reasonably priced and a quality-American-made product. I ended up getting a sofa with a chaise lounge. Something similarly sized would have cost about 3 grand at Crate and Barrel. I got away with it for under 2.
My only warning to those who are getting a couch from here is to be prepared for your order to take the full 5 weeks. They tell you it takes 3-5, so prepare for the worst. It's pretty lame not having a couch for a month, but totally worth it when you end up getting exactly what you want.
The sofaco was pretty good at keeping me up to date throughout this 5 week process.
As for the yelper who was weary because customers get incentives to write good reviews:
The "incentive" is a free lifetime spring and frame guarantee, a $29 value. What's $29 when most people are spending $800 bucks and over on a couch? Its incentive enough to log into yelp, but certainly not enough to lie.
I had a pretty pleasant experience and will definitely be returning in the future.
I had a good experience here while shopping for a sofa. The employees were extremely helpful and spent a lot of time answering all the questions I had. The great thing about this store is that you get to custom build your sofa to fit your needs and budget.
The only thing that made me decide not to buy from the sofa company was reading all the reviews online. I found out that customers are given incentives to write positive feedback about the product and service. I just felt that I wasn't getting honest opinions about the quality of the sofa or any problems people may have had with the sofa. The reviews made it seem too good to be true and it made me skeptical as a consumer.
Finally, I found a sofa store that combines quality, value, style and service!! This is such a great place to find a sofa if you are a loft-dweller.
We own two cats and a dog...and if you are a pet owner, you may appreciate the challenges I face when attempting to furnish my home in a way that is not only pet-proof, but also a reflection of my personal style. We thought we were good to go with a leather sofa from Ikea, but one year later, Sparty had had his way with the arm rests. He just LOVED to sharpen his claws on them and pull out all of the stitching!! $900 down the drain...
We started off by researching fabrics and found that microsuede, or microfiber were the most cat-proof fabrics out there. We visited Ikea, Crate & Barrel, Living Spaces, Macy's, Pottery Barn, vintage shops and countless other stores inside the malls. The primary issues with these stores:
1. The sofas we thought were good quality were way out of our budget.
2. The sofas that were priced reasonably did not meet our quality standards.
3. The fabric choices were limited.
4. We were very specific about the dimensions because of our limited living space, but none of these stores could customize sizes or configurations.
5. None of these stores had "the one"...the sofa that you immediately know is yours when you see it. I'd see some that I was willing to compromise on, but...why compromise??
This is where The Sofa Co. stands out from the pack. You don't have to compromise. You pick a style and then customize the fabric, the color, the size, the dimensions, the firmness of the cushions, frame, even the LEGS!!!
Apart from the choices and the selection, The Sofa Company's staff is great! Alex and Evana are both super helpful and PATIENT. I can't tell you how many times I went back and forth on the fabric and Alex was happy to go back to the drawing board. I received regular updates on the status of my order. I wasn't expecting to have it until 8/24, but I just got a call today that it's ready and they're delivering it tomorrow!!
Thanks Sofa Co. for not making me compromise
P.S. We ended up with the Charles in dorosuede fabric in the Arctic color. It has a tufted back and espresso legs. I'll post as soon as it's all set up!
From their comfortable showroom to the incredibly helpful employees, we felt completely at ease as we searched for our new sofa.
The simple but insightful method for choosing between the numerous styles, materials, and extras available helped make what could have been a relatively stressful, big-ticket purchase seem almost painless.
We're now only awaiting final delivery of our new couch so we can give The Sofa Company the full 5 stars they deserve.
Be sure to ask for Talya- she was very knowledgeable and couldn't have been any friendlier.
I bought my first sofa from The Sofa Company yesterday. I originally found them on Yelp, and did a fair amount of research on their website before going in so I had a good idea about what I wanted by the time I went there in person. The salesman, Peter, was great at helping me to pick a fabric that matched the one that I had viewed online. The sales process was quick and painless, and if the fabric I chose is in stock the sofa will even be here before Christmas! Very excited, and will update when I receive the sofa.
So glad to find a branch of the store closer to my house. I've reviewed the SM store before. Key benefits: you choose style and fabric and additional elements like piping and stitching. Custom sofas at very reasonable prices. Potential drawbacks: delivery delays. Everything I've bought here has come a few weeks later than the quoted date. I'll still come to Sofa Co first when I need a new piece. And I'll come back to the Pico store to work with Peter, who's helpful, knowledgeable, straightforward and is good at helping choose the right fabric.
I loved this company and they solved my furniture problems big time! I had a professional office to furnish on (1) a very tight budget, (2) a very tight timeline (3) limited design options because of small space, and (4) limited design options because of a bright carpet color (not selected by me). I looked everywhere, with no success... until I discovered The Sofa Company on a google search. They had the selection I needed, and incredible flexibility in designing furniture to the sizes and colors that would fit my small space. I got very fashionable custom-made couch and chairs in 5 weeks -- for a very reasonable amount. The staff in the Los Angeles showroom were excellent -- very high quality customer service and design assistance, and fun people to talk to. I would defintely use this company again for future furniture needs... and hope that lots more people find out about them, because they made the whole process of buying furniture on a tight budget SO MUCH easier. (I don't have my furniture delivered yet so I can't comment on delivery timeliness or quality, but based on my observations of the merchandise in the store and the customer service there, I am not anticipating any problems. The 5th star will come once I've received everything on time and in good condition.)
My boyfriend and I were moving into together - and so started the process of finding new living room furniture. How hard can it be to decide on a sofa? Well turns out - VERY hard. We went to Plummers, to HD Buttercup, to Pampas and Living Spaces. From Crate and Barrel to Macys Home store - we searched high-end and low-end. Then one day, my boyfriend visited The Sofa Company on Pico. There he found a nice man named Peter, who explained the Sofa Co. way of customizing and making a sofa to fit you (and not you a sofa). My boyfriend told me to come down to check it out.
Peter, the store manager, was a god-send. Yes, the selection process of picking a sofa style, fabric, and cushion choice CAN be very overwhelming. Sometimes too much of a choice can drive you insane! But Peter was able to really help us focus and narrow the choices down - two people who are completely indecisive and all over the place - and he was able to work with us and really listen to our needs and aesthetic wants.
After all that shopping around and fighting about a sofa, it was Peter at the Sofa Company we bought our sofa set from. They delivered it when they said they would, unwrapped it and placed it where we wanted. The Sofa Company is my new favorite furniture place. Thanks Peter for the help - we really do love the new sectional!
Now if they can only make dining room sets...
Just moved into a loft in Downtown LA and needed to pimp out the pad, so I checked out all the chain stores (Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn) but couldn't find a sofa that I liked that was affordable.
Found the sofaco on yelp and decided to check out the Pasadena location since I was in the neighborhood. Chad, the Pasadena manager, was really friendly and helped me narrow down styles of sofas and fabrics. He mentioned their free in-home interior design service and scheduled an appointment for the next day. Peter, the manager of the downtown store, came to my loft the next day and sketched out some possible layouts and made recommendations on sofa styles. I ordered my custom sofa a few days later from the downtown store and am eagerly awaiting delivery in 2-3 weeks.
The sofaco has a great selection of styles and fabrics, you get to customize length, width, fabric, color, stitching, buttons, base, etc. The price still came out to 2/3 what I would have paid at the big retailers. The customer service is excellent, Peter and Chad were both incredibly helpful and patient during the entire process.
After a LONG search for an affordable, yet chic, yet comfortable sofa, we finally got one here! Great customer service, open to negotiating, nice floor models (which we actually ended up buying) and just overall a good experience.
After visiting a few stores around Santa Monica and Beverly Blvd and looking at newspaper advertisements, I decided that my sofa should be custom made as I'm above average height. So I visited the Santa Monica store which was a very good experience and they stated that HQ - where there are more display models - is in DownTown LA.
So the following weekend I was there & was not disappointed. Many models to sit down on and my decision made in Santa Monica (Gia) changed after sitting on an Archie (Archie with larger/longer chaise).
Again, customer service was great and the showroom salesperson (Evana) was very patient, cordial and attentive in helping me choose the material, styles, etc., which we went over a "few" times :). I even got a bottled water as HQ didn't have airconditioning while we went through the different sofa styles, fabrics, et. al.
Of course there are many Companies in LA that will make a sofa for you but I chose SofaCo due to:
* the number of styles available to base my final design,
* customer service,
* expertise in Sofas aiding my decisions,
* warranty
* bona fide value for money for a custom, American made sofa.
My fiance bought his last couch here, so we already knew about all the customization perks. We walked in knowing we wanted a white couch that sat low to the ground, but that was it. Thanks to Emily, we ended up with the beautiful Colby in sunburst white like 2 hours later. What was really great was that we must have changed our minds between two other couches about 10 times, and she just let us do our thing. It was a great no-pressure situation, and Im very happy with what we ended up with. Great store.
