I actually adore the slip. BEST BURGER IN KIRKLAND! Also, try their Jack Daniel's Chili. I had it last week, and it blew my mind.

I would have been happier if they had seating set up outside on the patio, with those big outdoor heaters, but maybe they do later in the season? Also, we had our baby with us, and they were very accommodating as far as space inside for our stroller. Our waitress was awesome.

I had a great glass of wine for under $6, which is also quite nice, considering we were in Kirkland. :D

All in all, great location, great food (don't be afraid to get your hands dirty with that delicious peanut butter burger!), and great service!

When you mix peanut butter with bacon and a burger I automatically like the cut of your jib, hence I'm giving the Slip one extra star.

Let's not lie to ourselves, the Slip is in THE prime location in Kirkland and because of this people will just keep going there. It's small, so you almost always have to wait for a table if it's nice, and the food is ... well.... sub par. I love the creativity of peanut butter on a burger, and it is good, but other than that there isn't much to report. They also don't have a fryer, so no fries for you, just plain tortilla chips. The service is meh, young girls going pretty slow, and they're really in no hurry even though this place must have 10 tables, tops.

Don't go to the Slip hoping for amazing, go there on a sunny day and sit in the upper tented area for some acceptable drinks, a nice view and some people watching.

Peanut butter bacon burger and mai tais.  Awesome!

Tables leave a lot to be desired...plastic. Cheap.  Burgers are served with decent Chipd and salsa.  Warm weather crazy busy, but fun.

5 star view that's for sure!  3 star everything else. Simple menu for a lazy day.  I never go here if I am in a hurry or if I want a romantic, quiet dinner.  Sometimes the bustle of Kirkland in the summer, beer in hand and a great view is perfect.  It  You can get a fine meal here, I just don't crave anything.

As much hype as some other places get for their exceptional burgers, Slip is the most UNDERRATED burger joint, if you ask me.

Some of the burger combinations sound a little well, interesting, such as the peanut butter and jelly burger (on a patty be it meat or veg) yet the concoctions they've come up with work so surprisingly well.

My favorite order here is the original earth burger with cheddar which comes with tortilla chips. For a few bucks more you can sub the tortilla chips with French Fries which are incredibly tasty and guess what, guys? THEY ARE BAKED (not fried)!

Let me go on about the earth burger for a second: The earth burger is without a doubt the BEST veg burger I've ever had in my life.  These burgers are an in-house recipe so this is not your garden or boca burger - these patties are made from whole grains and veggies. DELICIOUS!

Their indoor section of the restaurant is tiny and can only seat a party of 4 at most at a table. That's sort of frustrating when you're only able to enjoy patio seating 58 days of the year in Seattle.  Service can be unpredictable where some of the servers have been amazing and some have been extremely rude but forget about all this -- just come for the food and you're golden!

On a nice sunny day, Slip is a must if you're looking for some great patio time in the sun, mojitos in hand accompanied with the best veggie burger you'll ever find! Just keep in mind it can get crowded!

P.S  I snuck a peak at the quesadillas last night and think I'm going to have to try that soon.

Everytime I am in Kirkland I have to make a stop at The Slip! The waitstaff are young so they are slow and moody but I overlook this because of my love for 3 things here: The location, the chicken sandwich and the cocktails.

To elaborate further, I adore their chicken sandwich with pear and gorgonzola. I do the happy dance in my chair when I eat this thing...it is wonderful.

The 'mango tango' or the 'slip and fall' cocktails are delicious, balanced and worth the price.

Support a local business and give The Slip a chance :)

Craving a good lunch and a drink or two, this little hole in the wall caught our eyes. We arrived with two minutes to spare on happy hour, so we immediately ordered drinks. They came quickly and were quite tasty but were rather small. Happy hour sized. We followed that up with a couple of beers for our meals which were excellent, local brews.

I ordered the Tiger Chicken and was pleasantly surprised at the wonderful flavors and slightly spicy sauce. My date ordered the Southwest and also enjoyed it.

The ambiance of this place is pretty much dumpster diving chic with plastic resin chairs and rickety tables. Not the prettiest place in town, but the location is amazing and the dive look works extremely well right next to the water. I wouldn't recommend changing the decor even if it is rather ugly. I guess it adds to the charm of this place.

Very delicious burgers! Some old classics along with some amazing new options. The chili burger was beautiful with just the right amount of spice. The peanut butter bacon burger was delicious. The baked fries were very tasty especially with the Tiger Sauce (tabasco mixed with sweet chili sauce).

They had Thomas Kemper root beer on tap for those of us that were not drinking.

The location is excellent. take a short walk along Moss Bay right in the heart of downtown Kirkland.

There is not much room inside if it is not warm enough for outside seating. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

    Not impressed.

The peanut butter bacon burger sounds a lot better than it really is. Peanut butter was a bit over-powering and there wasn't enough flavor between the beef and bacon to compliment it all. Besides that, it was extremely greasy. Not the good kind of grease you wouldn't mind sopping up with the last piece of bun, but the kind of grease that makes you consider going vegan, thinking to yourself, "I REALLY shouldn't put this crap in my body."

If you want a decent burger on the east side, go to Burgermaster or Kidd Valley. The best thing about The Slip is the location. If they weren't located on the water, they would have been shut down by now.

The service was horrible. Without their knowledge, a customer who just finished eating acted as he worked there, welcomed new customers, and told them to come on in. All while our party was waiting on the list for the next available table, getting skipped because some jackass thought it was funny and wanted to impress his friends by acting like he was still in college. They really need to keep someone up front and be a proper host.

Long story short, we won't be back here. Dirty tables, poor service, and mediocre food. Recipe for success.

Bacon, peanut butter, and pickles on a burger was an unexpectedly delicious combination!

Unfortunately, service was very slow (and it was not that busy), and the drinks were a disappointment.  The Plumb Blossom tasted like watered down pineapple juice without any alcohol, and my fiance's margarita was weak and terribly salty.

All in all, their food seems solid, but the service was just okay, and the drinks weren't worth it the $8 or so we paid for each of them.  A good contender for take-out, but I don't know if I'd go in for sit-down fare again.

This is probably one of my greatest memories of my visit to WA.  The location is amazing and the weather was great.  I was fortunate enough to be out on a night where there was clear skies and warm weather.

There was a small wait when we arrived but they said they would give us a call on our cell phone as soon as there was a table available.  I thought that was a nice touch.  We got to stroll around the area and not long after we got the call.

We opted to sit outside on the patio and when our menus were presented to us I immediately noticed an item that I had to order.  The Peanut butter and bacon burger.  How could I resist the temptation?  I really didn't know what to expect but I thought "what the heck" and went for it.

The burger arrived and I had to open it up to see what I was about to devour.  As soon as I lifted the top piece of bun off I realized that the peanut butter was an ooey gooey melted layer of excitement.  Shortly thereafter I decided to just put the bun on and start my journey into the legume burger.  I took a bite and was amazed at the amount of flavors that were taking over my palette.  A couple more bites in I realized it was kinda hard to swallow and I felt like Mr. Ed (If you don't know that's how they got him to move his mouth).  Tons of bread and melted peanut butter on the roof of my mouth but in a good way of course.  The bacon definitely was a must in this burger because a lot of the other flavors of a traditional burger were slightly covered up by the peanut butter.

Definitely a great place to check out and a fun food experience.

There aren't many places better for a burger on a beautiful summer workday.  The Slip is nestled right in the middle of Kirkland's waterfront and boasts one of the better locations in the area.  You'll wait a little bit for your food, but it's definitely worth it.

The menu is packed with great choices -- and I recommend the bacon cheeseburger with the roasted fries.  The burgers taste refreshingly homemade and have that nice (and important) charbroiled finish.  The fries are delicious, and aren't even deep fried -- and honestly, taste-wise, I couldn't even tell the difference.

If it's busy, make sure you have time for a longer lunch hour.  All in all, though, The Slip is definitely worth your time .

This was my first time eating at The Slip. I work in Kirkland and my company does a company lunch about once a month. I am in charge of finding places for us to eat and The Slip came to my attention. I asked around and a few of my co workers gave it the thumbs up so I decided to go with them. I needed 29 burgers for my company lunch so I called to make sure that was do-able as I knew they were a small place. I spoke to Alicia the general manager and she was awesome, very helpful and accommodating. Everything went very smoothly the day of the lunch. The burgers were ready on time and everything was in order. Parking was a little sketchy since there isn't much of it but it worked out. I was SHOCKED at how small the grill was and how fast they were cranking out burgers! It was just Alicia and another employee and they got those burgers done fast!! They went the extra mile for us and wrote all the employees names on the boxes to make it easier and made sure we had enough salsa for everyone. All the employees were very pleased with their burgers. I know I was! I got the Cheese Burger and it had wasabi mayo on it which was so good!! One of the best burgers I have ever had. I would put The Slip right up there with Red Mill Burgers. I will for sure be going back and our company was VERY pleased with the food and customer service!

I somehow missed this place for the first year I lived in Kirkland.  However, a coworker mentioned it to me so I decided to grab a burger one lazy night.  Place wasn't too busy (it was late on Wednesday night)  Man my burger was awesome.  The owners were there having a meeting and I chatted one up for a bit.  Seems like a great local business with great food.

I hope this place never closes.

I had their Hawaiian burger & it tasted wonderful. The bacon was crispylicious & instead of regular mayo, they use wasabi mayo & I liked it very much. It wasn't spicy in any way from the wasabi, but it definitely made the burger very tasty. The only negative I can say is that when I asked to substitute their tortilla chips for their roast fries, not only did they forget to give me my substitute order, but I definitely have tasted better roast fries.

Whomever said "moody young servers" wins the reviewer prize. The hostess was unbelievably snippy for a 17 year-old who works in a burger dive.

It took almost two hours for our meal, and it wasn't that busy. We're not high maintenance people--it was a couple burgers and fries and a couple of beers. The burgers were pretty good, but not worth the 90 minutes wait.

With the plethora of quality places in K-town, it's remarkable that The Slip is able to stay above water.

Love the beers, especially the cream ale and cream stout, and the service is usually fast, efficient and friendly.  We like the salmon burger and salmon salads, the chili is pretty good, and a favorite messy eat is the neeno (sp?) chicken burger.

In nice weather, you can sit outside, and the the view is nice. It is a hole in the wall, though, so be prepared for that.  I recommend the fries over the chips most of the time, though chips work really well with the chili.

like someone said before, the place is kinda dirty. one of the people i went with had trouble eating because the tables grossed her out.

the burger i ordered was ok. it was the gorgonzola burger. i asked for light dressing. the taste itself was fine but not spectacular. i was expecting more flavor from the cheese. the bun was a bit disappointing as i could see the grill marks but the bread was cold when i bit into it. guess my bun was sitting back there for a while before they put my burger together to give to me?

there were a lot of people working there but the service was slow. how does that work? not sure if they realize this, but if we're all sitting on the patio and they congregate by the doorway to chat amongst each other it doesn't look very good.

The Slip is cute and the location is fantastic.  However, the food is overpriced and mediocre.

I went here with a couple of friends and only one order was satisfactory- the peanut butter bacon burger.  Another friend ordered the veggie burger (which was VERY salty and actually made her literally sick afterward).  I ordered the house salad, and was very disappointed in what was mostly iceberg lettuce with very stale croutons, a few olives and pepperoncini peppers for $8.

Our waitress was friendly and comped the veggie burger, which was thoughtful.

I've lived in the Kirkland area for 8+ years and I've been to the slip 3 times and have been disappointed every time.  I won't be returning.

    PEANUT BUTTER BACON BURGER

I was so skeptical of that concoction (it sounds bizarre doesn't it?!), but had to give it a try. It was a surprisingly delicious combination of flavors- the peanut butter was slightly sweet, which worked very well with the saltiness and crunchiness of the bacon. The burger was also HUGE :3

If I ever come back here (ahem, I WILL), I'm only going to order this, because there's no way anything else on the menu is that delicious.

Like some other people, I'd rather have fries with my burger. But tortilla chips are better than nothing :D

The Slip is a combination of good things; "homemade" burgers and fries, Kirkland waterfront views and good service.   They have a wide selection of burger styles in both meat and veggie versions. They have some non-standard options such as the Peanut-butter & bacon burger(it's great).

Can't wait for the weather to warm up a bit more to visit and sit outside.

Very good burgers and chili.  The burgers I've eaten here are not the best in the Seattle area but they're consistently tasty; if you're looking for a classic American burger, this is your place.  The Slip is easily better than some of the other overrated and equally-pricey institutions like Red Mill.

I also find the chili to be winner here.  It's equal parts hearty and sweet, and perfect on french fries.

It does have some pretty slow service but you should probably be able to gauge that going in; every time I've eaten at the place there has been one cook behind the counter.  CALM DOWN people, life can wait while your food is prepared!

I love this hamburger joint for it's ideal location in Kirkland but when it comes to healthy options...it falls short.  The salads are average and the veggie burger is an interesting, soggy consistency.  My mom's burger (bacon, meat, pineapple,BBQ sauce) looked delicious but at the cost of about 1000 calories.

I am not a fan of the tortilla chips...I would rather have a burger with fries!

Friendly service and again...you can't beat the location and deck!

Parking can be an issue! I suggest park 2 miles away ...walk to The Slip (burning 500 calories round trip) and indulge in a real burger...not the healthy kind.

You can taste the peanut butter, but it's very subtle and nice. Also had the bloody mary and it was very well made. My friends also loved their burgers. For not being a full-blown restaurant, this place makes some amazing food. The cook there is awesome. :D Service was good both times I've been here. Will be coming back for more.

This has been bugging me for a while now. It's a recurring theme when coming here. While the burgers are great, the service sucks sh*t. The waitresses and hostesses are complete b*itches. Whenever this place gets busy the service gets down right rude. No greetings at the door. No,"Hi, it'll be one minute." No, "One second please. I'll be right with you." Nothing.

What you do get is an annoyed look that says,"I'm f#$%in busy." Well that's unacceptable. Period. They just look irritated. Well this review is me irritated. But here's a little free fortune telling for you courtesy of me: If you can't handle a little rush hour stress in your life, I pity what the future holds for you. If you can't meet the challenge of blue collar work, say hello to welfare and unemployment.  Stop making simple things out to be so difficult.  (Wo)man up.  Grab your ovaries in one hand and wave hello with the other.  Don't whine about it.  Just give some service with a smile.

Its not all bad. I do enjoy their burgers and food. Their grill guys seem cool in fact it was he who actually took our order and served us. But whoever owns or manages his place, my advice is get your wait staff in order. Its ridiculous. I've worked in restaurants before and I've never seen anyone make customer service seem so difficult.

My coworkers have been telling me how good this joint was and that I absolutely had to try the peanut butter bacon burger! When we went last month we were disappointed that they were closed due to management changes and what not. Called today and they were open for lunch so off we went!

It's very tiny inside so if you have a large group and its lunch time, good luck. 4 of us sat at one table and 2 at another so it worked out. We ordered the PBB burger and fries, which was a $2 extra charge instead of the standard tortilla chips they serve. When I got the burger I inspected it and saw the peanut butter was all warm and gooey along with 2 thick slices of bacon. Had my first bite and chewed on it for a bit. The PB of course goes straight for the roof of your mouth but the sweet taste and consistency along with the bun, meat and bacon was delicious! The bacon was extra crunchy which I love and added to to the taste. Fries were good and worth the extra charge if you don't want chips. I also had a taste of their Jack Daniel's chili which was yummy!

There's plenty of other burger selections on the menu but from what I hear, the PBB is the best. Still though, I'm willing to try other selections and get some more of that JD chili, good comfort food! Burger, fries & soda were under $15. During warmer months their patio outside is open and provides a nice view of the Kirkland waterfront.

My husband was the one who told me that the Slip was not to be missed!  I guess that is why I am on Yelp, and he is NOT. HA!
We took a group of 4 to The Slip on a hot summer day, the line to sit outside was over an hour - so we took our chances on a table inside.

The Slip is the kind of place that makes me wish I had Windex and a rag in my purse.  Tables and chairs were mis-matched, old, broken (no joke), food mashed on the floor, and the windows were riddled with bird crapola.
I sat down in one of those white plastic chairs that you can buy at Rite-Aid for $3.99 and looked over the menu.
Burgers, Burgers, Chips, Nachos, Chicken Burger.
Our group decided to get the Nachos to start - and we were presented with I-Kidd-You-Not 15 chips, 1/2 cup of half melted cheese and a tablespoon of salsa.
    Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot?!

Im not even going to bore you with the details of our burgers, but lets just say we were less than impressed.  The waitress was horrible, we kept reminding her of things she was forgetting, her service was super slow, and the bartender was clueless!
The total bill for 4 people and 4 burgers, with nachos and drinks, and even a bottle of terrible wine (not my idea) was $224!!!!!!
Next time we decide to go have burgers, I will take my chances with McD's and and bring my own booze.

This could be a great place with a major overhaul (or maybe just a major cleanup) considering the stellar location.

We decided to come here since for once it is a decent day out. I rarely get to enjoy chowder and was not the most impressed with the cup I got here. It tasted like it was from a can and they added a lot of pepper. The service though was amazing our server was fast and attentive even though it was a busy evening.

4 words: Peanut Butter Bacon Burger

Who would guess that peanut butter on a hamburger could be worth raving about?  I sure didn't... and I only ordered it one day because I wan't that hungry and wanted to try something different.  I was astounded... and now for the past 5 times I've been here, I've gotten the same thing every time.  Go, have a beer or mixed drink, and order this burger... you won't be sorry.

Awesome location yes, but few tables and often spotty service. Good drinks - really interesting/good burgers (chicken and otherwise) some with so many things on it that it just gets sloppy - other interesting ones like a chicken burger with ham & peanut butter.

One bonus is they know their clientele: they'll call your cell phone when you're up on the list so you can walk around Marina Park while you wait.
