So, we dined at the Silver Fox last night with another couple while my niece watched our kids (thank you Kelley!). The entire experience was wonderful beginning with being greeted by the proprietor who suggested that we take to table immediately as they were hosting a very large party in the main dining room.
The appetizer's were very tasty with the shrimp cocktail and remoulade (actually had to get out my Food Lover's Companion to make sure I spelled that one correctly - the spell checker missed it!) being identical to the ones at III Forks and the Crab-cake Francis loaded with tender and juicy crab meat...I usually don't order the crab-cakes as they are almost always mostly cake with very little crab :-) .
Two of our party had the Ahi Tuna steak which was perfectly prepared and drizzled with a light wasabi creme fraiche (got this one without the FLC!). I had the Rack of Lamb which was served with mustard crust and a red wine/shallot demi-glace...perfection...and it does not hurt that I absolutely LOVE the Rack of Lamb...although I do prefer the Colorado to the Australian - anybody know where to get the Colorado in the Dallas area?
We were also very impressed with the selection on the extensive wine list and chose a very nice Cabernet and Zinfandel (even though my friend said he was ordering a Pinot Noir the Zin was a welcome addition to the Lamb - YUM!)
We finished off a great meal with the fruitless Bread Pudding served warm with a Maker's Mark Bourbon Sauce and Cinnamon Ice Cream. Our friends insisted that we try "The Juice" and I am not sorry we did - I'd tell you what it is but then I would have to kill you - just kidding - go try it for yourself at this great gem in the heart of Grapevine!

The Silver Fox is a sister restaurant 3Forks. In a good way. And it shows.
They share a high quality of food as well as service. The wine selection is above average as well.
The rib eye was great, and the fillet was also top notch. The sides were even good. Try the 3forks salad - it's tasty and very lightweight.
The service was way above par as well, even for a nice place. There is this really hard-to-get balance between "intrusive" and "attentive". The guys here did well, when I went.
The silver bar is impressive, you have to check it out! Don't scrimp on wine here - the people know what they're talking about if you don't, so just ask.
So when you're ready for something a step up from the norm (granted in price as well as quality/experience), remember The Silver Fox.
