Coming from a guy who used to stay at hotels for a living, the Sheraton Read House is a really great place to stay.

What impressed me most about the hotel, separate from how well maintained it is (the property was built before the Civil War!) is the service.  From the moment we pulled in, we were treated very well.  The valet took the car and helped us unload and store our bikes.  The front desk attendant quickly checked us in, gave us coupons for local restaurants, provided recommendations and directions.  The service was also very good at Porters (we stopped for a late-night drink).

Great service, historic hotel, plus the comfort of the Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bed.  The Sheraton Read House is a great value in the heart of downtown Chattanooga.

Fabulous hotel.

Got a room here at the last minute due to a bad hotel room situation in Knoxville.

Friendly service from both the valets and the front desk. The lobby is massive to a grand scale.  Nice indoor pool and how can you beat a Starbucks attached to the lobby.

The Room was large and the beds were comfortable...only issue was when we sat at the end of the bed the headboard side of the mattress lifted up in the air...and no, I'm not that heavy lol

The only other gripe is with the bathroom....which is extremely small and the door is paper thin with slates at the bottom...every little sound echoed into the room so the shower running or the toilet flushing was quite noisy.

Oh and our room didn't have a DND sign and the maids were hounding us starting at 8am until we checked out at 11:30am. If you stay here...make sure that damn sign is hanging on your door!

I would definitely stay here if I'm ever in Chattanooga again.

Sheraton Read House is located just a few blocks from the Tennessee Aquarium and other attractions and the free CARTA shuttle picks up/drops off right by the entrance.  The lobby is absolutely beautiful and the staff was really nice.  The hairdryer in the room didn't work so I called to the front desk and had another one in under two minutes.  The room was really big but I have two gripes that kept me from giving them that fifth start - the beds were obnoxiously squeaky and there was no fan in the bathroom.  Not that the fan in the bathroom didn't work, they simply never installed one.  I think this may have been an oversight on their part when they did some crappy renovations.  I really hate to pick apart hotel room renovations but you can't help notice them when you are doing your business.  I'll wrap this up with another positive instead of a negative.  There was a big outdoor courtyard with lounge chairs and a fountain which helped me get a few needed minutes to myself.  Overall we really had an enjoyable visit especially for the deal we got on the room.

I unknowingly booked a room at this beautiful historical hotel.  The building and lobby are impressive, the staff extremely friendly, and the gym and pool were well above those of the average hotel.  I found the room to be completely comfortable and up to date despite the age of the building.  The price was less than what I would expect to pay in retrospect.

This historic hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to almost everything. The free electric shuttle bus stops right out front. Staff is very friendly. Room service is fast, and a great value. Clean, quiet, cozy rooms, and one of the best beds I've ever slept in. Keep the drapes open slightly or you will sleep till noon!

As a Starwood Preferred Gold member, I am pleased every time I check into a hotel and I am greeted by he staff.  It is a great feeling to know that your needs will be catered to in a way that very few other hotels can offer.  I am especially pleased to have been upgraded t a suite upon my arrival.
Unfortunately, the only shortcoming during this stay was that My sheets were not changed per my request.  I arrived here on Sunday night and as usual, each morning I place the card on the bed indicating my wish for fresh linen.  Monday night, before going to bed I accidentally nicked my self while shaving. As usually, I stopped the bleeding with a small piece of toilet paper and went to bed as usual.  Tuesday morning I woke up and noticed the piece of toilet paper had fallen off during my sleep and I noticed a small blood stain on my pillow case.  I again placed the card on the bed for fresh linen and sped of to my meetings for the day.  When I returned to my hotel room I assumed the sheets were replaced .  I was disappointed when later in the night I was getting ready for bed and I noticed the sheets were not changed.  This is the main reason I am giving this facility 4 rather than 5 stars.  I trusted the service to be extraordinary and instead, I got the same ordinary service I would have gotten at a Holiday Inn.
I have to come back again next week.  I am seriously considering staying at the Marriott down the street as a result of this transgression.
If it wasn't for the free upgrade upon my arrival, I would have been even more disappointed.  I hope they can make it up to me somehow.
