I cannot believe I finally am going to review my favorite restaurant in Vermont!!!  The shed is GREAT!!!!!!!  My favorite special is on Thursdays and it includes BBQ Ribs and beer for under 10 dollars.  It is more expensive to order the ribs alone.  But, if you order a beer with the ribs it has a special price.

Everything on the menu is great!!! Every time I go I also grab a growler on the way out of the sheds most famous beer "THE MOUNTAIN ALE".  They must put something magic in it because it is the best beer on the planet!!!!!  Back in college we would get a keg of the shed.  Amazing... The mountain ale is included in my last meal on earth....

Go here and love it.  It is worth it to me driving an hour each way to eat here!!! Go out of your way for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stopped in for lunch around noon on Sunday.  The restaurant itself is quite large with multiple dining areas: the main room with a fireplace, the rear room overlooking the recreation path running out back, and the pub.  We sat in the main room where a nice fire was lit, lending a relaxing, cozy feel to the room.  Being autumn, the dining room was tastefully decorated with faux fall leaves weaved with white string lights.  Soft jazz music was playing in the background, adding to the relaxed atmosphere.

Our server was pleasant and attentive, keeping our drinks filled and checking on us when appropriate.

I started my meal off with a bowl of baked onion soup, which was covered with a thick layer of Vermont cheddar cheese.  The broth was mild and the onions sweet, just how I like it.  My husband and I both ordered the Shepherd's Pie.  A hearty mixture of ground beef and corn topped with a thick layer of mashed potatoes and covered with - you guessed it - Vermont cheddar cheese.  The pie was a little runny and oily from the cheese, detracting from the dish.  Portions were not large, but adequate.

The Shed's menu has a nice variety of dishes - something for everybody.  The Shed is also a brewery, making their own beers on site.

I always come here when I visit Stowe, soley for the beer. I was here 2 weekends ago on a Friday night. It was busy, but not packed. It's a very ski-bum type place. I have not eaten here. The atmosphere is dark and pub-y. I got an imperial IPA that was really great, and also tried the Mountain Ale which is a must try. I will most likely come back here every time I come to Stowe!

I'm actually from Vermont, so I don't ski, but if I did, I would be at the Shed every week as soon as I got off the slopes.  I don't bother with the dining room, but the bar area is a great place to waste an afternoon.

The Shed brews their own absurdly strong beers, which you can sample via the beer ski, and it's a tragedy that only their Mountain Ale can be found elsewhere, when all their brews are great.

The food is always superb for standard pub fare, and the Cobb Salad was amazing, piled with bacon, cheeses, chicken, eggs and avocado, all on top of two leaves of lettuce.  Calling it a salad is an abomination, but a delicious one.

If you're a carnivore you'll love the cobb salad.  If you were thinking you might take a break from indulgent holiday meals and have a nice salad, you might want to look elsewhere; perhaps the veggies that are served with the wings.  The cheddar and broccoli soup was yumtastic and the pulled pork sandwich looked good too.  Beer, decent wine, overly sweet chick drinks and a full bar.
A lovely apres ski bar, if you can snag a spot.  The dining room is much more. . . hmmm.  Bright is one word.  Grandma's house are two more.

Love The Shed!  Amazing beer, great food, perfect warm joint to sit down for a while after being out in the cold all day.
I've spent [literally] countless afternoons here and just couldn't like any place better on a winter day.

**The only time I've had a problem with the Shed is when it's below 0 on the mountain and they don't open till 11am.

The Shed has a fantastic bar with tasty beer, a fun environment, and very attentive bartenders who make mean drinks. But I would skip the restaurant. I have visited the restaurant more than once and my experience has not changed. While the staff and management are very friendly and they try hard, they are clearly spread too thin at times so that the service can be slow. When we asked for bread, it took 20 minutes to get it to us because they were "cooking" it. The food was consistently disappointing and surprisingly expensive--undercooked meat, cold and overcooked vegetables. They could stand to have more variety on their menu.

Great staff, great bar, but mediocre food in the restaurant that is too expensive.

The food is very good, though not remarkable, and obviously a bad value anywhere outside of touristy Stowe.

However, the best deal in the world is The Shed's "Ski of Beer."  For only ~$7 you get to try six delicious, high-quality brews!  When I brought my friends, they each bought two skis... haha

Their desserts are actually pretty good too.  We had the brownie with ice cream, and I was very happy with both.

I would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area!  Only one star off for the prices.

I think I fell in love with brewpubs here back in 2001.

The burgers are incredible, as are the beers (do take some electrical tape with you if you will be carting the growler on a road trip, as it keeps the fizz in better).

The space is smaller than you think it will be, but perfect none the less.

I've given the Shed 5 stars because it does what it sets out to do flawlessly:  serve reasonably priced beer and pub food that is very Vermont.

If you go to the Shed for the first time, you should get the Beer Ski (beer sampler), figure out what you like and order a few more in bulk.

The wings are wiitarded good and the nachos are fairly fantastic as well.

The atmosphere is representative of my "college in Burlington years": dub music, cool/crunchy people, warm inside/cold outside.

The Shed is a must-go if you're in Stowe.  Don't miss it.

I agree with most ya'll here, The Shed is a great, laid back place for apres.  The parking lot is a bit screwy but i found that to add to it's character.  The interior of the Pub is classic VT ski resort style w/ exposed beams, the remnants of an old bank teller surround for the bar, comfy boothes and stickers on all of the heating ducts.

We stopped in on the later side, Sat around 9:45 and the place was about half full.  The bartender promptly came to our table and took our drink order  (two Shed IPA's and a Shed ale) than came back bring the drinks and get our food order (a couple hamburgers & a baked onion soup).

I thought the service was excellent.  To be honest I wasn't crazy about my ale as it tasted a little watered down, but it had decent qualities to it and it wasn't all bad...it was decent.  The food was excellent pub fare.  The burger was cooked perfectly med/rare (a rarity nowadays) and the toppings were fresh.

I would definitely come back to The Shed the next time I'm in Stowe.  Cool place, friendly and attentive wait staff, great pub fare and decent beer.

The Shed is Stowe's best for a beer and burger.  It's also a brewery - so try the sampler and get a growler of your favorite to take home.

Service has never been their forte, but the food and drink go a long way to keep me coming back when in Stowe.

Dan's review of The Shed hits the nail on the head; not sure what I can add.
I spend most weekends in Stowe through the winter as I am an avid snowboarder. The Shed is our apres ski destination of choice for a hearty meal and  good beer.
Did you know you can order a ski of beer there? Yes a ski of beer.
It is a short wooden ski that holds about 5 or 6 four ounce glasses filled with their different beers; it's an amazing way to enjoy a tasting.
There's nothing like a sweet beer buzz after a day on the mountain.

Isn't Stowe just fantastic? Its really not just the mountain. Case in point, The Shed...

The first time I went to this unassuming looking roadside brewpub, during a 5-day ski/riding/newyears'/ode to gluttony trip with my wife and some friends, I fell in love. Firstly, the beers were all good to amazing (I mean ALL good to amazing) and I am picky about beer. They offer not a flight, rack nor sampler, but a miniature slotted ski to get you acquainted with their offerings. My favorites were the National IPA (and Im not a big IPA guy) and the Mountain Ale (which should somehow be in the Smithsonian). We would refill our growlers of both daily.

I thought the food was really good too. Its your standard pub fare, but done rather well and the portions were substantial. Not that it really matters, as the food at the Shed is just something to have with the beer.

This is a brewpub that is definitely in a ski town. The prices were alittle high.
I wasn't too impressed with the beer, it had an off flavor, possibly the water they are using?
The food was decent and i didn't mind the atmosphere. The service wasn't great during my visit but I'm sure it was off day....right?
Try the sampler, I'm sure you'll find at least 1 beer you like, They sell Growlers to go.

I eat at The Shed at least every other week and their micro brews are excellent!  They also have the best ribs in the Stowe area and very good burgers as well.  We usually eat on the bar side and the staff are cool too.

The other reviews for Shed are right on but I've got to say the Beer had a strange taste to me at least. They all kind of tasted the same and none really impressed me much. I did really like the food it was very good. The parking was a little odd, maybe it was just us but it seamed there was only one way in and out and only one car could go at a time. Oh and you park behind it so you go in the back door. It's not very clear where to go it, of course once in we saw that the door facing the road is the main entrance but as this was our first time there we didn't know. Over all a good place to stop and i would recommend the ski of beer, it's a great way to try new beers.
