This is one of the most fun, casual escape room games you can play! Seventh room is such a pure enjoyment for a group of 8 to party along and solve puzzles, riddles and more together!
Our group purchased a Groupon for 8 people and we booked for a Thursday evening for fun! The owner of Out Of the Box was so kind to be respectful of our game experience and wanted to make sure things would go as planned for our visit due to carpeting work that he asked if we'd be ok with a Friday visit instead at the same Groupon rate!
We obliged and showed up, abundant parking which is always lovely. The check in table has clues for you to start your journey, calling the number listed and your team is off to solve the introductory puzzle to get your brain warmed up. Ring the bell and be ready, the game master is in full character and it is AWESOME! Not one did he break role and it was so nice and refreshing to have the guidance of a friend, game host and confidant to lead the hour of joy and what not in our time together.
Led through room of room, we were started off with selecting a few different keys to choose from to pick our puzzles, then the different rooms we were led to all had different activities to do which I thought was fun and extremely beautifully decorated! I loved the level of detail from the library, theater and bar room! I won't spoil it but the 15 minutes per room spent really flies and my group agreed we all really loved the variety of puzzles to solve. Finally, at the end you accrew a certain amount of tokens/balls and that's how you try to make it into the leaderboard!
They told us if we were to return to let them know of putting us in different rooms for the next visit and that will give us a variety of replaybility! There were many more rooms down the hall that we hadn't even gone into! We can't wait to be back. Finally, he mentioned if we were to return around the holiday season that there would also be themed puzzles!! How fun!
5 star performance and experience! We cannot wait to return!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0Business owner information

Ring the bell at the front counter and immediately this dramatic and exciting mood for the Seventh Room is set. Our host was full of energy and she created such a fun atmosphere and experience. She took us through 3 different rooms where we had about 15 minutes in each room to solve little games/riddles. Teamwork was definitely necessary to complete the activities where it was fun to work with others on such atypical tasks. The host was awesome and props to her for never breaking character. I was just a little bummed that I didn't get to see more actors/actresses in each room which I had heard from a friend who had been to the Seventh Room before.
Overall, I had a great experience here and I definitely see myself coming back. Also, be sure to use Groupon so you and your friends can save some money!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 24, 2016
Had a great time at Seventh Room with the family. We've done a couple of puzzle rooms and found this one to be nice due to the interactiveness of it. Really liked that there were quests that were individual, joint and group. I'd recommend them without hesitation. Give em a try. We will be back!

This is theater and puzzle room combined! So much fun and genuinely challenging puzzles. Get into it, have fun, be goofy, and try your hardest to solve those rooms. We only had three rooms open to us but they were all super fun!
Bring a sweater or hoody, it's kinda chilly. Also, don't drink before, it's way more fun sober. Lastly, have fun and be a kid again.
Can't wait for all the rooms to be open!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tahlia K.Sacramento, CA825829May 2, 2017
We've done a lot of escape rooms in Austin and this one is definitely different than the rest. Mostly because it's a series of puzzle rooms where you aren't actually escaping. They give you a time limit and a huge amount of puzzles and the goal is to solve as many as possible to earn points--hopefully to get a high score at the end of the game.
The system mostly worked. They have a wide variety of puzzles--some silly, some trivia, some requiring dexterity. You have a host that guides you through the entire thing in a whirlwind of excitement.
I wasn't crazy about the theater room, where you basically play quick-fire charades, pictionary, and "name that tune". But it was only one out of 4 rooms, and we still had fun.
Overall, 7th Room isn't my preferred style, but I think it would work well for groups that are less geeky and than your typical escape room enthusiast. Or kids, actually. I could see younger kids really enjoying this style.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Andy H.Austin, TX91171Aug 10, 2016
Amazing place! Super fun! Many different puzzles to solve with a very different style. The goal is not exactly to escape but to perform well individually and as a team to collect as many points as possible.
will def come back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Briana R.Pflugerville, TX5516590Jun 19, 2016
This is not a traditional Escape Room as categorized here on Yelp and advertised on Groupon, however it is a fun and different experience! Instead of having the ultimate goal of escaping one room, your ultimate goal is to earn more points than other teams throughout several rooms.
You never know what kind of group you are going to be put with, so if that scares you a bit, make sure you come with a bigger group so you can play with your friends instead of strangers. We got lucky and played with a good group, but could see how it would not be a great experience if you were stuck with some different people that were not into it or too cool for school.
The cast is what makes this place really cool. You are working with live actors the whole time and they are talented and make it lots of fun.
You move from room to room throughout your experience, spending 15 minutes in each room. You try to get as many points as you can in that 15 minutes by solving different puzzles individually and as a group. At the end, all of the different groups that were playing at the same time, meet back in "Mission Control" and the winner with the most points is announced.
They switch up the puzzles every 2 months so you can return and do it again. Again, if you have done a few Escape Rooms, do not have that same expectation when you go here. However, you will have a lot of fun!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alex E.Camarillo, CA3272Aug 8, 2016
Quite a different "escape/puzzle/panic room" experience. You're immediately immersed and taken in by the care and detail given to the "very polished" decor in every room. Has a somewhat creepy vaudeville \ Clockwork Orange kind of theme.
Instead of trying to solve a series of puzzles in one room in order to "escape," this establishment has you complete puzzles to win points. Some are more traditional anagram, Tower of Hanoi, etc type puzzles, some are more techie (be sure to request the laser/Simon room!). All easily keep every member of a group of 8 engaged.
Our host was also outstanding, staying in character from the moment we met him, and doing a great job of being a fair MC, not giving away hints too easily, but nudging us just a little when we struggled.
Our group afterwards agreed that this is by far our favorite puzzle room in Austin right now. ( Compared with 15 Locks, Perplexium, Austin Panic Room, and a couple others we had been to. Those are fun too, but gotta say we liked this best! )Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anna s.Austin, TX678325Feb 12, 2016
This seems to be classified as an escape room on other websites like Groupon, but it definitely isn't that type of theme; it's more of a puzzle competition, and it's fun as BALLS!
We had a group of 4, and weren't sure what to expect, but they added a loner couple to our group to compete against a few other groups (I think there were 5 groups total, but they dont divide you up if you come with friends, unless it's necessary, I'm sure). I'd recommend getting there early because you have to figure out a lock in order to gain access to a flashlight for future use. It's not imperative, and since we weren't early we didn't get to the flashlights, so I just used my phone flashlight a few times.
That's one thing I liked about this one; they weren't crazy strict with no photos or phone use, or hardcore on not breaking a few tiny rules. They had 4 character actors that night who were all fun and funny, and not annoying as we all know *some* improv actors can be.
I do prefer the room escape type games where you are trying to solve questions in order to get out, but this one was unique in that it was like rapid fire puzzle solving of all different kinds. It's good to go with a diverse group, because all the puzzles and clues in each themed room are different, so you tend to notice who's brain works best with certain kinds of problems. P.s. I cant do word jumbles for shit.
The 4 of us have completely different personalities, and we all really enjoyed it. I hate being the center of attention, but the character actors make it easy for you to participate in front of people, and they're good at lightening a situation if one person in your party *cough-stranger-lady-loner-couple* isn't really responding well to the game.
I'm not sure if you win anything for completing the most clues, but we finished dead last, so it didn't matter. I will go again, though, and totally destroy the other groups! They said they change up the games so you can come back and play again, so that's awesome. It's totally worth the $22 ticket price, and that's a lot coming from a frugal spinster like myself.
LOVED it :DHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dave S.San Antonio, TX261Nov 3, 2016
This was one of the best experiences that I could have hoped for. We had to book this last minute, and Joshua was able to help me with a large team building event (25 people) that ended up being closer to 15. I was very pleased with the entire production and the entire concept is a real departure from the traditional "escape the room" scenario where panic sets in really quickly and mistakes are made.
I polled the entire group, and Seventh room got a 5/5 from every single one. Congratulations on one of the best produced events!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
