The Sanitarium Spa
2 reviews for The Sanitarium Spa
I stayed here last year in the "Euphoriasm" room, its since been redecorated but still looks as lovely as ever. The best hammock I've ever been in is off the private porch. Ahhh.........heaven.
I much enjoyed the decor & overall vibe of the space, it is/was? owned by a congolmerate of artists so the space is "minimal" with a lot of beautiful art. There is even a spot in the living room with an easel and paints if you're feeling creative.
The food is kept light & refreshing, every Thursday evening the famous Farmer's Market infiltrates the streets.
I enjoyed the "inns' keepers" (for lack of a better word) and the other hotel guests, one of which was a poet staying there long-term for inspiration. Neat lady.
A couple of parting pragmatic thoughts, the bathrooms are awesome! And the soaking tubs in the bedrooms are magnificent. Never discount the importance of chatting with your friend/amore and bathing in the living room. Splendid.
And parking is plentiful, its within walking distance of downtown.
Enjoy this gem.
Just stayed 3 nights at the Sanitarium in the Hydrolucinogen room. First of all the house is beautiful. The room we stayed in had a steam shower and a huge metal soaking tub next to the bed. They all do. The hotel is managed by a young surfer dude/college student name Jimmy who's very nice and make you breakfast @ 9:00AM in the morning. The coffee is good and strong and the owner uses it as an art studio as well so there are really stunning oil paintings throughout the place. The floor have radiant heat so the room and be very warm, you probably should mess around with what combination of blankets you'll need so you can sleep soundly. Coming from San Francisco we had to adjust to how quiet it was. It was a lovely place and we'll be staying there again in the future.
