Hey, Big Mike R! Let's get one thing straight...I'm not from RWC, I'm an outsider, and I was welcome in this joint.... Let's talk specifics...
Stiff drinks at a good price
Great jukebox
Friendly cast of regulars
No natural light leaking in
Redwood City's last neighborhood bar definitely, its a good place to shoot the shit with random friends u haven't seen for years or the old timers telling u stories of the ol' days.Sometimes its hit or miss but Thurs,Fri,Sat usually after 9 its good to throw 1 back @ The Room. Remember too tip the bartender's like Sam well because he makes strong drinks & contributes to the general atmosphere @ The Saddleroom..Check it out "u should try everything or place at least once"thats my philosophy...
After reading the reviews on Yelp, I decided to check out this bar on a Thursday night. Being from Atlanta (and a southern drawl to boot), I was immediately and warmly welcomed -- what a treat!. A GREAT place -- the Saddle Room epitomizes what a bar should be IMO. Thank you to Sam, Harry, Jamie and Q. I'll definitely be back when I'm in town again.
Update: been back a few times with a friend of mine from work. Went on a Saturday night, and it was crazy packed. You could hardly navigate your way through the place. I'm not a big fan of places that are so crowded, you have to fight your way from point A to point B, but it was a festive crowd, to be sure.

Not the best bar I've ever been in, but it's far from the worst. Yeah, it's mainly an older crowd,… Read more »
UGH! Every ghetto used to be Westsider always ends up trying to kick someones ass there! Under agers hang out in the back like they wont get caught drinkin! Then, any cop that goes there for more than 10 mintes is a crooked one! I have seen some shit with the police officers that "show up" to check it out! Right....like it's got nothing to do with curly blonde haired girl that offered him a BJ! The bathroom is better though!
Bottom line....
It's a local bar.....If you're not from RWC, you won't get it and you probably won't like it. If you're an outsider and are looking for the neighborhood bar......Go to Applebee's.
Oh yeah...PBR in bottles.
Yes its a dive bar,
Yes its 99% locals,
and Yes it's always fun to walk over and stumble home.
The Saddle Room is a local bar and in that - it's perfect just how it is.
It's like Denny's. No-one in their right mind ever says "Hey! Let's go to Denny's!" the conversation is usually, "It's 1 am, where should we - - -HEY! DENNY'S!"
Get some local beer on tap and we'll go up to 4 stars, otherwise I enjoy my Guinness and Jameson when I imbibe there.
Wow! Like another yelper on this place... I lived in RWC all my life and passed by this place a million and a half times but never got to go in. When I finally made plans to go to the "room" with some friends I was super stoked and for good reason!
So, I show up with a good good friend of mine that has been here plenty of times. She leans over and whispers "are you ready for this?" ... I reply "Hell yes, why!?".... "it's going to be a high school reunion" and sure as shit it was!!! It was actually pretty hilarious because I hated everyone in high school... so people watching really took on a whole new meaning at this place. I noticed a lot of girls who thought they were super hot yelling at the bartender for drinks at an overly crowded bar and... passed right on up on! I love that shit. Have some manners and respect for the alcohol distributor... it might get you drunk quicker.
The jukebox was BLARING!!!! which I adore. I am constantly telling my barkeeps to turn up the juke at other joints.. but not needed here. Good beer selection and friendly staff.
Will be back when I get back into town. Miss it already
The Saddle Room is the perfect dive bar and my favorite. Walking in, it's like a cheers, everyone knows your name. I wish I still lived close to go :(
So, it's Friday night...my friend calls me up and we are trying to figure out where to have drinks at. He suggests the Saddle Room Bar. So, I'm like sure..because it's a bar literally 5 min from where I grew up from and somewhere I have never ventured in. It was just weird because I've passed by this place half a million times and I FINALLY go in for drinks. A real dive-y place. The drinks are cheap, but cash only.
It was a rather bizarre experience. I just wouldn't have expected this type of place in the 'hood. First there was a older guy hitting on my friend and saying he looked like the dude from Prison Break. Then the older guy proceeded to hit on some younger lady. We later met a guy who met his Japanese gf walking to the train because he had gotten a DUI. Anyways..a really interesting experience.
5 stars all around for this bar.
The bartenders Gary, Bobby and Sam
gary and bobby these guys in the mid 40's pour a stiff ass $5.00 grey goose screwdriver. They have typical beers like coors, bud, corona, gordon, hefenweizen etc...
They have an internet jukebox, men and womendrestrooms, a small kitchen where they serve dinner on monday night football. Free penuts where you just throw the waisted shells on the bar floor.
They have a big ass back patio with speakers/tv's tons of tables and benches.
The crowd differs like around 3pm-9pm its the neighborhood older working class. 25y old-60 y olds.
Thurs,Fri, Sat after say 10p a whole lotta young cats come in here. most are cool, some are pretentious, and all patrons are easy going.
some people mention that its a dive and it is, but it doesnt mean this place sucks because its a dive this bar is the best IMO in all of Redwood City.
whoever gives this place higher than 3 stars is on crack. i geuss if ur in your 40's or you are a truck driver this is a cool place. For regular people this place is not for us. This dingy place is very sketch and when i was there there were some kids there that were probably 15. The only reason I gave this place two stars is because pitchers of beer are fairly cheap and you can eat peanuts outside. Maybe when i am 40 and have no life ill be a regular here.
The patio chairs and tables remind me a little of the Zeitgeist. Not quite the same crowd, but that's all right. I've been here twice - haven't been back for years but hope to go again sometime this year on a really hot day. Not a bad place to go and converse with a friend you haven't seen in a while. Gotta give credit to a place that screams DIVE!!! Like this bar does.
Bar, yes, bartender, yes, alcohol, yes a lot, inexpensive, haven't found anything cheaper outside my house, locals, of course, outsiders welcome (if you like social enviorments.) If you answered no to any of the above and can handle walking home after 3-4 drinks then this is the place for you. Oh and aside from what other people stating about the peanuts, they are no more :( now now its chex mix with those good ass puff balls mmmm....come check it out. Oh and where else do the locals BBQ for you and watch Monday Night Football together for $5. Im out!!!
this is a 3.5-4 star bar, but i can walk home....can't beat that!
this is a random place. i love random. it's not seedy like it looks like from the front. it's a truly neighborhood bar. there are as many people in the bar at 4pm as there are at 8 on a weeknight. the scene is mostly older and a tad bit macho. The jukebox has been recently upgraded and it pretty darn good.
i'm not sure when the saddle room became a wanna be it place, but on thursday and friday nights, the place can fill up with 20 somethings. maybe it's the big jagermiester machine (i swear it's a machine) behind the bar and the addition of red bull to the bar's menu....is it the chicken or the egg? so if you don't want a crowd, go another night.
the patio out back is the best part of the bar. it's a great place to hang out with a group of friends. CHEAP drinks (when is the last time you had a $3.50 mixed drink?) and a place you can hear your friends? can't beat that.
my biggest gripe with the place? no diet coke. you can carry red bull, but not diet coke? it's just another button on the little soda shooter thing! come on!
As one of the only (the only!) bars open on a Saturday night down Woodside, it's a gem. Has quite the 'locals' feeling and cheap beer to boot. Be careful what you pickup there, whether that be peanuts off the floor or the clientele.
5 stars. No ifs, ands, or buts!!! If one live is RWC, this is where you go for a mellow, hang out with friends, and get wasted, kind of night. Well the night begins with, " Gary can I just get my madres (my drink of choice)?" I realize that Gary makes incredibly awesome drinks and by the end of that glass, I am red and don't recall how my glass so empty. By round 2, there's a line at the Jukebox, insulting of each others' tastes in music, chain smoking, dancing on the bar, and challenges thrown around for a game of darts. By round 3, there's still a line at the Jukebox, everyone and their mother is at the Room, start getting hit on by all the old guys, losing the dart games, and everyone there has become my new best friend. If you are a country fan, then you know Toby Keith's "I love this bar". That song is all about the Saddle Room!! Love you Saddle!! May you live forever!!!
This hidden Woodside dive bar has it ALL...darts, dice, STIFF drinks, a honky tonk juke box, outdoor patio and great bartenders. Always a good time here.
Good if you live around there and want to hang out for a bit. Not worth going to if you live farther than a few blocks away. Very divey, interesting bartenders, odd crowd with wide age range.
Great local bar...
You don't have much to choose from around here but this bar isn't bad. You can converse without having to shout and some of the beer is cheap. I'll be back.
I LOVE THIS BAR! Watch out if you go before 9pm it is a wrinkle room. Later in the night all the local 20 something's come and it is like a big kennedy middle school, woodside high school drunken reunion. Always friendly staff, good music, and cheap drinks.
This place is a 3 minute drive from my house so I finally decided to check it out. The inside is really small : the bar with stools and a table in the back. My friend and I were hesitant to go in, the place looked a bit shady from the outside and we heard country music blaring but we heard people chatting so decided to take a chance and walk in . As soon as we open the door everyone stopped talking ...Awkward... There was no where to sit along the bar so we sat at the table at the back. The crowd is an interesting mix of old and young and gave off the odd feeling of being at a frat party =/. We each ordered a beer. The bartender was super nice and their beer selection was decent. The crowd and music was just not my scene but I guess I can't expect a whole lot from redwood city.
Good local dive bar. Drinks are cheap. Peanuts are free. A back patio. What is there not to like?
I can skate there and get drunk for under 10 bucks. Enough said.
