First let's start off by saying I am a fan of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Brand. Period. I am on a personal mission to visit and stay at as many as possible. This week I stayed at the Laguna Niguel location. Fabulous. It was my birthday so I was given a card that entitled me to two complimentary glasses of wine or champagne! Nice. Second, my resort fee was waived. Score. Third, when I originally requested an ocean view over the phone while making my reservation I was denied unless, I wanted to give up $600 per night. No. When I arrived I asked, and my wish was granted. Lovely. We arrived really late in the evening, so I wasn't able to see the actual view. However, the decor is phenomenal, really refined yet modern. The colors were really soothing. The room felt a little empty but, no biggie! Bathroom had full marble and two sinks and a toilet closet. Great for privacy. Just the sound of the waves was soothing, I wanted to stay on the balcony all night. So when morning broke, the first thing I did was go on the balcony to check out the view. Woah and Woah. Awesome, the ocean looked almost as if I were in a tropical locale although we were and hour and a half from L.A. There were surfers, joggers and others just enjoying this awesome beach (Monarch I believe) The only issue, I had is with the late night menu, not so good. The Marina Del Rey location rocks, try the Lobster Quesadilla. Heavenly. All in all, this is a true vacation from the hustle and bustle of L.A. , I'll be back (Arnold S voice).

I came here with a couple of clients who suggested having lunch at the Ritz Carlton. Its close to where I live so it works for me. The good news is it just a walk. The bad news is that I am here all the time.
Nice views and great to meet new people there. Come on by and say Hi, you will not be disapointed.
The Gilmer Files - "Adam Vincent" and "Adam Vincent Gilmer"
the view is superb however i had lunch here and the food was NOT good- for that minus one star

Oh, how I adore the Ritz. It's grand, luxurious, has fabulous views, they treat you like a million bucks, and there are giant bouquets of fresh flowers everywhere you look.
They have delicious and surprisingly affordable brunch - as long as you avoid Sunday, which is $80 per person. The Eggs Benedict are superb and my hubby loves to order the breakfast burrito....which isn't exactly on the menu.
After brunch - take a walk down to the beach. There's nothing like putting your toes in the ocean after a lovely meal.
In the evening, if you are out on the town being fabulous - this is an excellent place to stop for drinks. The bar is fun and elegant and serves a wicked cocktail and a little tray of nuts and wasabi peas. My husband brought me here for a drink on our first date (four and a half years ago) and we have been coming back ever since.
If you are looking to splurge for dinner, they have several great options. Their private dining room is gorgeous with a crystal chandelier and plush walls. Big birthday coming up? This would be a chic spot to dine with your closest group of friends.
The rooms are gorgeous and you can hear the waves crashing all night. How romantic can it get?
I think it's about time for another visit!
I got a honeymoon package here even though it was not a honeymoon. This is a really top notch place. We drove up in a pretty old car - and they still treated us like royalty... Everywhere you went, it's how can we help you mister X? Also, they used to have an amazing steak restaurant that has now been turned into a wine bar. Pity, one of the best 24 ounce steaks ever. Finally, who does not want to wake up to the sound of the pacific ocean? Definitely a pricey experience but well worth it.

Perhaps I am getting jaded in my age, but this was strictly passable as far as luxury hotels go. To be clear, I came here for business and was not fully relaxed. The setting was beautiful, and I can see that there is tremendous attention to detail. The only thing that soured me is that I did not receive a wake-up call. Had I not set my phone, this could have been potentially problematic, as I had a presentation to give that day. It would have been nice to have a comp'd service or some money deducted from my final bill given that hiccup, rather than the anemic 'that's too bad' from the fellow manning the checkout desk. Overall, a positive experience, just wish I could have taken in more of the surroundings and some of the amenities this hotel had to offer- seeing as how most of my time was confined to the meeting room.

From a design point of view I think the Ritz looks a lot better from the outside then it does on the inside. The food was fine, the view was terrific, but the restaurant looked Potterybarn style while the architecture is Meditteranean, the two styles don't compliment eachother. I think the interior needs to be redone and have more of an Italian influence.
AS GOOD AS IT GETS!!!
Location, Service, Food... Everything was First Class: exquisitely arranged and prepared. Who says money can't buy love..?? "MONEY is GOOD" I can say this with confidence..!! I fell in love with the pure luxury and opulent lifestyle of Ritz-Carlton.
The couple's wedding ceremony was at the South Shore's Church. From the church, the couple and the guests drove little less than a mile to Ritz-Carlton for the wedding reception lunch. Every little or big corners of Ritz became by photo studio. Although the food I had was called "Vendor's Meal," It was Excellent..!! Any size: small or large, indoor or outdoor, cocktail bars or no cocktail bars--Almost anything can be arranged here at the Ritz Carlton. The only unfavorable thing about having a wedding at Ritz is THE $$$$ issue...~ If you have $$$$ then this shouldn't be an issue of course. =)

I just spent two glorious days here for a friends wedding. The service, the location and most of the food is incredible. I love a hotel that goes out of their way to actually make you feel like a guest rather than a burden (hello Wynn are you listening?)
The bar and restaurant 162 look out at the pacific with views ranging from N. OC to Catalina down to Pendelton. It really is almost like sitting at the Ritz in Maui.
I had one of the best pomegranate martini's at the bar and the slider trio is dynamite. My fav was the blue cheese bacon combo. The sirloin was moist and delicious. Be careful though because the drinks and food is expensive.
Breakfast is nothing to write home about. But what is good are their latte's. They have to be some of the best I've ever had.
The wedding/reception was elegant and casual at the same time. You never feel rushed or the servers/bartenders seem genuinely happy to want to serve you and make your experience the best they can. And for wedding food, the food was pretty good.
The only downfall of the Ritz is the pool food. It's overpriced which you expect, but I wouldn't feed it to my dog it was so bad. The drinks and the atmosphere softened the blow though.
The furnishings are perfect for the setting. Rich chocolates and blues. Very modern, chic and comfortable. I think the remodel just happened a few years ago so everything is up to date.

An absolutely beautiful hotel! It's situated on a cliff, so you have wonderful views of the ocean from the main dining. If you do not stay here - I highly recommend coming for drinks around sunset, sit out on the patio; the view is quite stunning.
My husband and I had a very enjoyable stay. Most all of the staff is extremely friendly and they make you feel welcomed and appreciated throughout your entire visit.
However, the key person at any resort, in my opinion is the concierge. And unfortunately, this is the person that lost the resort the extra star. Having never visited this part of CA before, we relied heavily on the concierge and her suggestions. She was not very informative, nor friendly. We seemed more of a nuisance to her than anything.
The major complaint - we had requested a specific ethnicity of food and asked for advice. She told us the name of the restaurant and suggested that we walk. Living in Chicago we are used to walking a lot so that's no problem, but I feel like we should have been warned the restaurant was over 2 miles away along heavily trafficked PC Highway 1! (Unfortunately, I didn't bring my running shoes on this trip.) And as you know, this portion of CA is not heavily trafficked by taxi's. They are easy to get at the resorts, but not anywhere else. Once we started on this journey we were in for the long haul and a LOOONG haul it was!
My other complaint would be the extremely thin walls. Each morning we woke up to the shrill squeals of small children running down the hallway. We could also hear our neighbors in the room beside us, talking, showering etc. Very, very thin walls.
Overall, despite these minor annoyances we really enjoyed our time at the hotel.

We checked out of the St. Regis early and switched to this hotel because of their inferior service. This is definitely many steps above the St. Regis. If you're visiting Laguna Beach, this is where you want to stay.

Food here is WONDERFUL! I filled myself up on 3 plates of crab legs! Also, the dessert bar is amazing!
Quick & Dirty: Right on the beach, pleasant and friendly staff, views to kill, clean and comfortable rooms.
Long & Grand:
I have been fortunate enough in my life to stay at quite a few nice hotels due to business trips and/or vacations. This Ritz is one of the good ones and has made my list of nice hotels to which I shall return.
So I hopped in my Mazda and headed south feeling like a Hillbilly.
From the moment I pulled into the porta cache at the hotel I knew I was going to be taken care of, and I was. The valet and bell service was right-on and handled everything quickly and with a smile, and they didn't even give me a dirty look when noticing the dent on the passenger side of my car!
I was pleasantly surprised upon checking in to find out that I was bumped to an ocean view which was VERY nice and something I was not expecting. So on I went to find my room.
As you walk through the hotel lobby you notice that it has been decorated modestly and modernly.
http://static.px.yelp....
http://static.px.yelp....
There are decorative surfboards that are place at each pillar, which is cute.
http://static.px.yelp....
Can you use them? If no one is looking you can. Actually, I'm sure they have a way you can rent one though. The beach at the bottom of the cliff has great waves and quite a few surfers were down there in the morning. It was fun to watch them and if I had stayed longer it would have been nice to go down there.
http://static.px.yelp....
It is December though and it was pretty cold out. In fact the hotel was practically deserted, like the shining but on the beach, and I don't want to kill anyone.
So I finally found my room and it was nice. In fact, here it is...
http://static.px.yelp....
http://static.px.yelp....
It was a big, clean room with all of the things you would expect in a 5 star hotel. A flat screen TV, killer beds, huge bathroom, walk in closet, ocean view balcony, free Internet. There were only a couple of things I would have liked to have had in the room.
First thing, an iPod dock. What year is this? Any Hilton has one, why can't the Ritz?
Second thing, an in room Coffee Maker. Yes I know, you are supposed to have it brought to you but hey, I can make my own coffee and sometimes it's just easier to have it in the room. Because of those two things I took off a star. I know, how snobby of me!
One thing I do love about staying at resorts like this is the complimentary shoe shine service. I LOVE IT! I bring an extra pair just to have them shined. (I know, it's ghetto but I am from Long Beach) I want someone to do this for me at my house. I'll leave my shoes outside and then you come pick them up, shine them, and return them wrapped in paper, placed in a bag, and hung from my door knob.
Overall, this was a nice hotel and the rooms were decent. The view rocked...
http://static.px.yelp....
...and the staff was nice without being snooty.
Would I go back? Yes, but in the summer or spring next time. OR I would go here for cocktails.
Should you go? Yes, if you have the opportunity. Even if you don't stay, it's still a nice place to have a glass of wine or dinner. Perfect Views!!!
that is all.

Luxury and serenity, side by side.
The hotel was gorgeous, with lots of hallways to roam and get lost in. Chairs and fireplaces, open doorways, chandeliers, flowers. Everyone was very friendly and nice. The gym is AMAZING!!! Over-looking the water and beach. The spa was quaint and classy. The food was pricey, yet EVERYTHING we ordered was delectable!
We had an ocean view room. Small and fancy. Plush bed, Bvlgari bath products.
Just so nice!
I got discounts and comps for everything however, so my cost was WAY lower than what most pay. I don't know if I would have had such a relaxing time if I was actually paying the $600 a night fee for the ocean view room. Just make sure you have the wallet for this place. Or some kind of discount and your gold!

Spent New Years with my girlfriend and her 3 year old and we did not want to leave!!!
Beautiful property right on the coast of Dana Point. Everyone here is obnoxiously polite. Just like the movie Pleasantville. They make a claim of being VERY family friendly and I was actually wary because the San Francisco property where I have spent the most time at is geared more towards older affluent couples and business travelers.
This place makes any child feel right at home. In fact on New Year's Eve there were children all over the lobby running around playing games mixed in among the couples partying into the night and everything was very at ease. They make the best Mac and Cheese I have ever had and I never touch the stuff. Its off the menu, but they pretty much do anything by request
The gym although small but sufficient by hotel standards overlooks the ocean with the cardio machines up front and its very awe inspiring. If you have a chance go out on the deck where the view is excellent and they serve appetizers and cocktails.
Can't wait to go back...

I was here for a conference in October. While there, I lost my digital camera, filled with photos from my birthday party a week earlier as well as some gorgeous beachfront shots from the Ritz, at a party on the hotel's observation deck. The next morning, realizing my mistake, I was in a near-panic and went to the front desk asking if maybe, in any way, shape, or form, someone had found my camera.
Naturally, they had it and had filed it in a lost-and-found repository and produced it within five minutes. Everything here is handled with spectacular professionalism and the scenery doesn't hurt, either. Also, the gym? Getting to watch the sunset over an ocean cliff while running on a treadmill almost made up for the fact that my knees are too screwed-up for me to run hills outside.
My one caveat, which doesn't detract from a five-star rating at all, is that this is not a party resort. Unfortunately, I was here for a conference filled with 25-year-old dot-com and digital-marketing types, and the hotel staff was none too thrilled that some of them liked to stay out until 4 AM. This is the sort of place that attracts primarily middle-aged golf fans; keep that in mind before you choose it for your spring break surf adventure getaway.

This review is for the Restaurant at the Ritz Carlton, and not the hotel itself.
I've been here many times and I can't help but keep coming back. There is no other view like the one from the 160+ foot high restaurant strategically placed atop a characteristically picturesque Laguna cliff. With but a casual glance from your seat on the terraced tables, one can see the entire coastline, ocean, and Catalina Island. Opt for outdoor seating, however long the wait, as views are limited inside.
The food is good, but nothing to write home about. I usually get the seared Ahi Tuna salad which is about $14 and always done just right.
COME FOR BREATH TAKING VIEWS AND THE EXPERIENCE.
Oh, did I mention the steps? Yeah, it is 160+ feet up a cliff so enter by way of the beach at the base. The assent is actually not difficult and very gradual. If you happen to bring your Grandmother, you can drive up to the front of the hotel and simply walk through till you reach the restaurant in the back. Don't be a Pansy; take the stairs - it's half the experience!!!

I recently attended a wedding here at the Ritz. Its not as nice as the one in Pasadena but it was pretty nice. Since it sits on a hilltop overlooking the ocean, the view was stunning. I love their restrooms. I wish all restrooms were like theirs. All their staffs were friendly and helpful. The wedding took place in the gazebo overlooking the ocean. It was a picture perfect shot as the bride and groom take their vows. The Ritz staff or wedding coordinator really took care of everything. The bride, my friend, didn't have to worry about a thing. Everything went smoothly and on time. We had a 5 course dinner. They started us out by passing the Korean mochi sesame balls from the ceremony. Then we had a nice caesar salad, scallops with spaghetti, shrimp dumpling soup, 9 spice prime rib (or mahi mahi), and 3 layer cake (white chocolate, mocha, and dark chocolate). Everything was ok. The prime rib was pretty good.
Elegant, sophisticated, good for a late night outing with a group of friends, or a romantic date for 2.
I remember coming here on breezy cool nights during the winter months when everything in Laguna would close early. We would just come spur of the moment and always have the most memorable time. Most nights they have a piano player or some modern jazz music playing.
Anyways, we would come to sip on hot cocoa, munch on tea sandwiches & other finger foods and enjoy the sight around us. We would pick the couches above the dining tables to sit at to have a more intimate experience. Most times we would dress super casual.somehow people think its super formal...but when we would go late night, we would throw on a pair of UGGs and it would be perfectly ok! Its definitely a good place to check out when you're visiting in the area or if you live there then go and check it out one night ;)

The wedding we attended was spectacular right down to the food. However, the room left something to be desired. The view of the ocean was great but the air conditioner was so loud we couldn't sleep. And the sound proofing is so bad we could hear people going in and out of their rooms all night. Both my husband and I were surprised at the great reviews as we have experienced better at many lesser rated hotels. The service even left something to be desired as upon check in our room wasn't ready (not a problem as we arrived at 3pm an hour prior to official check in), but they said they would call us when it was ready and they didn't. We arrived at 4:10 to see if it was ready and waited 5 minutes to be told yes it was ready. I will say the valet staff is excellent. But you pay $35 for that not including tips!

I didn't stay here, but I had one of the best brunches of my life, while being serenaded on a grand piano with a majestic view of the waters and beaches of Laguna in California. Everything was decked out
with the old feel of a mansion, and French Provincial decor, with touches of modern throughout. The brunch consists of a help yourself scrumptous buffet of many favorites, and of course I doused myself
with plenty mimosas. Truly a treat! And the grounds as you drive up,
are some of the most stately and gorgeous ones you will see.
Be prepared for the time of your life. I stayed in a suite on the club lounge floor. Throughout the day, we dined at the lounge on amazing food and drinks... All complementary. The service at the Ritz is simply outstanding and the views are breathtaking.
The fitness center is spectacular. A huge center full of weights, cardio equipment and 25 foot celings of ocean views!!!!!
The dining room (Magic Johnson was there one morning) has amazing views of the ocean as well....
The most beautiful Ritz I've been to so far. I felt as though I was on my honeymoon, it was so incredibly romantic.
The ocean view rooms with balconies serve as a better setting for romance and ambiance than you will ever get in even the nicest restaurants in LA. We enjoyed Champagne, cheese and strawberries, overlooking the sunset over the ocean, rather than leaving the hotel for dinner. The rooms are large and luxurious, and the bathrooms are to die for with grand double vanities and lots of mirrors.
The grounds are absolutely breathtaking and the row of chairs overlooking the bluff making for a perfect place to enjoy a cocktail (my gentleman enjoyed his cigar).
The valet men are extremely nice and are happy to keep your surf boards and wetsuits in the front for easy access. Salt Creek beach is just down below the hotel and is great for lounging, walking and watching the surfers.
My only complaint is that it costs money to use the spa - even if you aren't having a massage or other service, you must pay her day. I thought that seemed a little ridiculous if all you want to do is sit in the steam room for a little while.
Overall, a very memorable experience. We will surely be back.

Love it! We use to go here for Christmas!!! Beautiful. I love sitting out in the patio and looking at the beach. Beautiful stars at night....love the pool!!!
Beds are really high :)
Wonderful hotel in a great location. The service here is awesome just as one would expect. The hotel is totally updated in a cool sleek modern way not the old stuffy Ritz Carlton fashion. There is a really awesome beach just outside the windows of the hotel which one can walk down to if you are so inclined or just watch the surfers from the restaurants or lawn on the bluff above. The hotel has an open airy feel especially the long lobby that extends the full length of the hotel. I had a garden room which overlooked a courtyard garden where we had our banquets. Overall it was an awesome stay highly recommend.

Big ups to Mother Nature for the spectacular view and to the Ritz-Carlton's land developers for a shrewd choice of real estate. My boyfriend and I were in town for a wedding, and the wedding party was kindly provided with accommodations here (the wedding reception was held here too, and soon-to-be-brides/grooms: this spot makes for an absolutely EXCEPTIONAL venue). While the locale alone made my weekend stay worthwhile, I was really disappointed by the countless logistical snags that occured throughout our stay. Ready for this?
Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, and we waited for a call from front desk that we never received. When we were finally given our room keys four hours later, they were to a room that was double-booked. This messed up our valet information, and I had to sort everything out and retrieve our luggage & wedding gifts from the storage shed MYSELF. We were promised an oceanside room but were given a room directly beside the pool instead, which provided very little privacy. By then, we were too tired and frustrated (and oh yeah, too busy attending a WEDDING!) to fight it anymore.
I wish the front desk were more upfront and honest with our room status. Though I had no problem with solving logistical matters on my own (if you want something done right...), I surely did NOT expect this kind of shoddy service from the Ritz-Carlton, of all establishments. Their saving grace: they called three days later to notify us that the groom's family was refunded for our room and that we'd be given a complimentary room should we visit again. I appreciate their customer service after the fact, but it would've been much more helpful if they'd been on top of things when it mattered most.
Just a heads up: the cell phone reception is terrible, though the bellhop did assure me that they were working to improve it (but it could have easily been another lie to cover up their shortcomings). Looking forward to that free stay, Ritz-Carlton, time for redemption!

GORGEOUS! Absolutely stunning. The entrance is beautiful and the food is divine as is the wait staff. The rooms are wonderful - so cozy and luxurious. Came here planning on only staying for 2 nights but ended up staying for over a week. The staff was very accommodating and actually moved around other reservations around to allow us to continue our stay. I will definitely be back. If I was going to get married, this would be my first choice of venue. Seriously - so romantic and the grass area on the Laguna cliff area is ideal for a outdoor wedding on the beach without the messy sand.
Highly recommend the Ritz - Laguna to everyone...

I had afternoon tea here with my friends. It was definitely an experience. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. We had tea in the side room which had really cool blown glass on the ceiling.
The service was incredible. For $50 you get a mock-tail or champagne cocktail, scones, tea sandwiches, strawberries and clotted cream and little desserts. Each bite was incredible.
Afterwards we wandered around the hotel. The views from the balcony are breathtaking. The bathroom has to be one of the most opulent I have seen.
I hear they only do this on Thursday now, which sucks, because this really is the best tea in Orange County.

This is a complicated review to write.
The hotel gets 3 stars - the location gets a million stars.
I stay at a lot of nice hotels, and I was really excited for the opportunity to add The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel to my list. To my surprise, I was mildly disappointed.
Don't get me wrong - the location and view are unbeatable and compensate well for whatever I felt the hotel lacked. But when I analyze the hotel on its own, I left feeling unimpressed...it is a charming hotel with nice staff, but, minus the location and view, it lacks a "wow" factor.
I would definitely stay there again, however, and perhaps a second visit would prove more memorable.
Never stayed here, but visited the hotel to check out the restaurant. Gorgeous furniture and style in the interior of the hotel. Very chic, romantic, uplifting, high class, and relaxing environment. Strolled outside on the cliff that overlooked Laguna Beach.. greatest view ever. I love you, SoCal! Makes me wanna get married on the cliff one day. Beautiful flowers, plants, water, grass, hotel, everything! Sorry to say, but this is where money is everything, because staying at this Ritz is like staying on cloud 9. It WILL happen for me.. one day.. someday!

the hotel is to die for and they have a killer view but there food is just standard to my tasty and they didn't have a tastering menu but the choice were typical "american" verison that isn't that impress
salmon, steak, etc
if u like these kind of things LOL
The only thing that kept popping in my mind from the first second I pulled up to vallet is, "I dont belong here. I dont belong here".
And I dont, but it was my closest cousin's wedding, and I was invited....
So there :)
Everyone else on that side of the family, has the money to come here regularly, and dress the part....I however, am the one racing solo down the freeway, with my arms up the whole time, trying to dry the sweat stains off of my 20 dollar dress before the ceremony.
The Hotel's location is breathtaking....I had an idea of what to expect, but when I arrived, I realized that not even my imagination could conjure up this kind of beauty... I posted some pictures to try and capture this...
The lobby was large, with lot's of friendly people to greet you along the way...There are private rooms with computers and telephone's for you to use as well.
The service is very friendly, and the food is AMAZING. They were walking around with h'orderves before the reception, on this outside terrace with an open bar, a fountain, and plush seating arrangements....
They included
Coconut shrimp with pina colada sauce (huge)
Miniture beef wellington
Serrano Ham wrapped scallops with lemon oil
Crab cakes with cajun remoulade
and that was just to start...
The bathroom I used, had it's own sink fresh wash clothes in each stall!
The Ceremony took place outside on the cliff area right over the ocean, it was amazing, but the wind never seems to die down in that area, so it was a little inconvenient....My dress was almost borderline inappropriate when it came to length, but as soon as I stepped outside, the word "borderline", literally flew out the window.
The Reception area was amazing, the food and service once again was top notch. Peter Cetera (Original singer from Chicago), sang my cousins first wedding song...
God I hate my family.

The Gym, oh heaven!!! I come to this place when I need a real pick me up - I can walk on the beach in the mornings, sit by the pool, even the less expensive rooms are great- the staff has always been 5 star, and I am excited to try the wine cheese and chocolate bar!! Check in is always really pleasant and fun. I am excited for my next time there!!

Spend a relaxing afternoon enjoying tea next to the cozy fireplace in Restaurant 162'. Tea is served Thursday and Saturday at noon and 2:30 p.m. and Friday at noon. A pianist provides entertainment.
There are 2 types of tea menu. I chose the Royal Tea which was $35.00 per person. I really enjoyed myself. If you're into tea I would highly recommend this place. You'll need to make the reservation in advance. Even though you have reservation once there it 's first come first seating. I got there early enough where I was able to sit next to the window which has a view of the Pacific Ocean.

I have always been a hotel snob, but now I can actually admit it...
I decided to take my significant other here over the weekend for a little getaway. They had something called a "re-connect" package which was a nice room, all inclusive food and drinks, free valet, and Sunday Brunch.
Beautiful facilities, DELICIOUS FOOD (which is a rarity for a hotel but it's the Ritz soooo), and a lovely staff.
I too felt as if I didn't belong here, but after a long soak in the tub, and laying around in the plush robe....I got over it.

I came here for the same reason as everyone else ... the Sunday brunch. Make reservations in advance for an outdoor table with an ocean view.
The brunch buffet is going to cost you a few chinchilla coats. But their caviar and mimosas are all I need to sow my royal oats.

We only do brunch at the Ritz. Now doesn't that just sound so bitchy?
Who cares because you feel like a million bucks when you're sitting here and taking in the awesome ocean view and wearing your rock star sunglasses and sipping mimosas or latte with candied orange stirrers. And let's not forget the french toast with hot blueberry sauce and some creme fraiche. Yeah you have to eat it with the creme fraiche.
Ok so we're bitches :)

You know you're a snob when you're in another country and you wish they had a Ritz-Carlton. That was me while I was staying in an Eco-lodge in Costa Rica. Then I was reminded of the pretentious people I would have to around and I rescinded my wish.
When you're at a Ritz you can be as demanding as you want because you know there are others who are 10 times more demanding than you. All the decor is fresh and modern here. The lobby is spacious and so are the dining and meeting areas, however the rooms are small. The Club Ocean view and garden/pool view guestrooms are a mere 400 sq. ft, tiny relative to the expansive grounds the hotel's sitting on . The suites are bigger around 780-1550 sq. ft. but of course you'll have to spend a pretty penny to book one.
I've never really had any problems staying at a Ritz-Carlton. The service has always been great, but like I mentioned, I don't think the rooms are anything spectacular. The views on the other hand, are. If they're located by the ocean like this one or the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay, you can't get a better view.
For the kind of money you'd be spending on a Ritz room, you're better off booking a room at an independent resort (i.e. Montage Resort & Spa in Laguna Niguel). The rooms are bigger and the bed doesn't seem like it's taking up half the room. You can probably tell square footage is very important to me! The Montage does a better job at using more streamlined furniture to make the room look bigger. The Ritz likes big, plush furniture, so it makes a room look much smaller than it actually is. Anyway, both places have excellent service, have good food, and are set in great locations.

I stared out of the picture window and it was just like a Catherine Opie photograph from the surfers series. My parents chose Sunday brunch as their anniversary meal. The sushi isn't prepared with wasabi (you have to put it yourself). There was a room just for desserts. They fold your napkin when you get up for the brunch buffet and keep refilling your coffee cup discreetly.
