The Reserve at Spanos Park
2 reviews for The Reserve at Spanos Park
I came here for my aunts 70th birthday celebration. The club house where the party was held was nice. The food provided by the club was your standard buffet fare and satisfying for a hungry crowd. but I was oh so happy my cousins brought in a "lechon" (roasted Filipino pig) to round out the buffet table. I don't think any of the servers knew how to carve the darn thing because when I walked in cousin Rudy had an apron on carving delicious chunks of pork off the pig carcass. After dinner the disco ball started turning and the music started playing and the aunts and uncles started line dancing to Achy Breaky Heart.
Overall the waitstaff was very attentive at the buffet tables and wandering through the room clearing off plates, filling water glasses. and passing out birthday cake. The three stars is for the limited selection at the bar and light pours of the bartenders. If another family party is hosted here I will be bringing my own bottle of Grey Goose.

When looking into a venue to get married at- Spanos was a top choice. When meeting with them- I was promised the world- but what I got was nothing short of lies and screw-ups. When I got there to decorate the arch (mind you- I was told when planning the wedding that there would be a NEW arch)- I thought it was a joke. The arch was the worst thing i had ever seen. It was very old and rusty (which was just painted over). We spent over $100 trying to make it look decent- and that didn't work either. There was no bride dressing room. I got dressed in a small meeting room. There was no where to even hang my dress- so we hung it on the door- but it fell every time somebody opened the door! My husband and the groomsmen had to get dressed in the bathroom. There weren't enough chairs set up for the guests. Jackie- the "event coordinator" (she defiantly- was not)- was also our minister. After the ceremony- she disappeared. The unity candle wasn't done and there was no blessing before the meal. There was nobody there to direct the night-which was also promised to me. I didn't even know what I was doing but I sure couldn't relax when I was trying to coordinate everything the whole night. For our guests- we wanted them to have an option of apple cider if they did not want champagne- instead- they were served sprite. After the cake cutting- they were supposed to serve people the cake- giving them flavor options- that wasn't done either. The only piece of wedding cake that I had was when we cut it. They were supposed to serve cheese and crackers while we took pictures- that wasn't done either. The drinks at the bar were really expensive- and I had a lot of guests complaining that they would buy a drink- leave their tabel for a minute and their drink would be gone. There was very little water to drink while people were dancing. We rented the place til midnight- yet they were more worried about getting things cleaned by by 10:30. Those are only a few of the things that went completely wrong. I was never a crazy bride- if anything- I was laid back and went with the flow of things. I consider them lucky that I wasn't. I would never recommend this place as a wedding or any other event. It was a complete disappointment and I hope that anybody hoping to get married here reads this and thinks twice. They are a bad business- and they gave the name "Spanos" a bad name!!!
