Diner food is my favorite and I'm really glad we found this place in VA beach.  We do love the Silver Diner near town center but it can get a bit crowded at times.  This diner was pretty much empty when we went (just a few other tables filled).

I ordered the grilled cheese and fries (of course) and my bf got the Big Bird sandwich with fruit and an olive salad.  Everything was super tasty and the sandwiches are HUGE.  All the employees do look like high school students but our service was fine and I thought it was entertaining to watch the high school dynamics as some of their friends from schoool came in.

This is a fun 50's diner with nonstop finger poppin tunes, cut outs of marilyn monroe on the walls and menu items like the james dean burger and big banana splits (someone was eating one for breakfast when I was there). We arrived when they opened saturday morning, so they were just firing up the gill. The staff was young and friendly. We ordered the 'cheesiest" grits and they came out first and were delicious! I had the james dean burger with fries and my honey had a mexican scramble, with tasty green peppers and onions with sausage and delicious crisy homefries.

This place is just fun. I mean it is called the "The Purple Cow". It looks like an old school 50's dinner that had a purple explosion. If you have kids it is a fun place to go. They have typical diner food (I love their chicken fingers) and to die for chocolate malts. They hand mix them. They are so thick you need a spoon. Yum....... You know it is good when you can feel yourself gaining 10lbs when you pull into the parking lot.

Downsides: the service is iffy at times. It looks like it is mainly run by high schoolers, but it isn't fine dining so I generally let it slide.

Overall I like this place. It is fun. (and get a chocolate malt. They are so good!)
