Review from Susan L.

Boo they make their whiskey sours with sour mix an unpardonable sin for a fancy pants restaurant. You can't charge me over a $100 for a meal and serve up some frat boy drink. Luckily for me we asked about the sour mix situation before ordering so I was able to bypass the bad sours and have a delicious and perfect dirty martini (actually 2 and maybe even 3 of them which was 1 or 2 too many). I started with beef tartare, this was my first experience with beef tartare and I enjoyed it but think it could have been a little warmer. In my experience with sushi when it's really cold it has less flavor and I would assume the same would apply for really cold beef. Also, it was just chopped beef with various condiments on the side. I have seen recipes that put the condiments into the tartare and I think I would have preferred that. I ate it though and it was yummy. Another appetizer at our table were the artichokes, also delicious. For my main course I had the duck which was really tasty although I was not loving the sides. The duck was served in extremely generous portions, my Mom got the duck as well and we both took some home. My brother got the bacon wrapped beef which was a little boring, I have a theory* that it's the bacon, you think it will improve a dish but so often it just creates a new flavor that isn't bacon and isn't what it's wrapped in so you are inevitably disappointed. My sister got the risotto, which I think was made special for her as she has special needs, I personally thought it could have been alot creamier because I like a really creamy risotto. All in all a good meal, but a spendier restaurant has to really pull out the big guns to impress me and earn five stars. Next time I am on the east coast I will try to slip a lunch in at PH and see what happens there without the 2 -3 martini starter.
*This theory does not apply to bacon wrapped scallops which are delicious always!
