First, just want to respond to the critic regarding the snow...before your delirium tremens kick in, calm down and consider that they were probably closed due to the fact that not all of their employees are conveniently located within walking distance to their place of work.

This place kept it basic and delicious: a wide array of beers coupled with awesome burgers and fries. Bison burger and sweet potato fries...fab.

Although I wouldn't stray from the burger portion of the menu. I'm assuming that's why they keep that part front and center on their menu.

My ongoing saga of Pour House experiences continue. This time, we stopped by after a movie, and were treated to a sort of entertainment that I haven't seen in a while. The last few times we stopped in, the Pour House was mostly an older crowd. Boy were we surprised when the place was packed with the 21-22 year old crowd! I knew then that we were in for a good time. We saw a skipped check, possible property damage, and even a hilarious passed out window-condensation shaming.

Why only 2* again? They claimed to be pouring Red's Rye, but when we received it, it tasted a heck of a lot more like Mad Elf. Red's is my favorite beer, and seeing as how busy it was, I wasn't going to complain and harass the wait staff. I went out later and picked up a 6er of Red's Rye, those who were at the bar with me agreed that what Pour House was pouring that night was definitely not Red's Rye.

I think if we got to know the bartenders and staff, our experience there would get much better, as it seems that the regulars were taken care of very nicely. Maybe some day... As it stands, I continue to hold out hope, and will probably keep coming, seeing as it's more casual than Cork, but  with much better beer than Tucker's or Brewer's.

I've been here twice now so I think I can make a decent review. The building itself is a cinder block/concrete block building right on Haddon Avenue. The interior is fairly well decorated, and has a lot of cool pictures of different music stars. They need to repaint the place however. That aside, there is plenty of seating with nice wooden chairs and tables. The bar itself is long and U shaped with plenty of wood counterspace taken up by a motley cast of locals. There's always at least one sauced woman at the bar when I go there(An this is on weekdays).

I've ordered both the Pour House burger and the special of the day, roast pork sandwich. The Pour House burger was pretty good, nice crisp bacon and cheddar on the burger. The fries were pretty tasty, though they don't give you a lot with them. The roast pork sandwich was a big disappointment. Dry, flavorless meat enshrouded by a mediocre bun.

Both times the beer has been pretty good. I've tried several selections, including some Sly Fox and Victory beers and I've always been steered right by the waitresses.

Service was good and prompt. They tend to select waitresses much like at Whelihans, young and look good in tight clothing. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, just observing.

I'll be back. I want to try their oyster special(s).

The Pourhouse is alright if you don't feel like venturing into Philly to visit a real beer bar. They usually have a good selection on tap, but the bartenders aren't particularly knowledgeable about what they are serving. As far as food goes, I've only had the burger. While decent it's nothing to write home about.

Went there for the first time and was kind of over stimulated. Too many beers to choose from and too many meat heads patroning the place. Now I understand if you're a beer connoisseur it's cool, but I am not and it would take any normal person an hour to go through the list and decide, especially if you don't know what you're looking at because the 18 year waitresses have no clue. The burger and fries I had were very tasty so I would eat there again, but maybe during the day, going on a Friday was a mistake. It was so crowded people were hovering over our table waiting for us to leave so they could have it. Definitely not a place to relax and converse with some friends.

I met up with a friend at the very crowded Pour House last night for some wine and appetizers.  The name alone should have indicated to me that I'd be drinking beer, but I didn't make the connection right away.  It was Friday night after my first week back to work; cut me a break.

Table turnaround was pretty quick.  We couldn't get the bartender's attention to grab a beer at the bar while we waited, but we were seated after about 15 minutes.  Our waiter came over promptly and took our drink orders.  We each ordered something on tap: a pumpkin ale for me and an Allagash white for my friend.

I didn't realize right away that the Pour House is part of the P.J. Whelihan's restaurant group, and when I found out, I was a little bummed since I tend to think P.J.s is overrated.  I ended up being pleasantly surprised.  The PH offers a menu that is a little more upscale-feeling than the offerings at P.J.s, but I still felt like I fit in wearing jeans and a t-shirt.  There is a raw bar available daily, but my dining companion and I stuck with the hot apps.

The Belgian mussels were yummy, served in lots of flavorful, garlicky broth and garnished with two long baguette toasts for dipping.  The pierogies could have been a little hotter, but with the sour cream and sweet, caramelized onions, they were the perfect comfort food.  The smoked porter wings were good, but I wasn't expecting any sauce on them, and I especially wasn't expecting them to be as over-sauced as they were.  I might order them again but I'll definitely ask for less sauce.  (How many times can I say "sauce" in one review?  Sauce, sauce, SAUCE!!)

The service was a little slow, but the atmosphere was relaxed enough that we each ordered a second beer and hung around for awhile after we finished eating.  It was definitely a good place to unwind after a hectic week.

I think "Yay! I'm a fan" definitely suits this place.  The food isn't anything special but the beer selection is pretty top notch, especially in South Jersey.  After walking out of another bar after realizing they got rid of all their good drafts, we went here knowing at least we had a selection to choose from.  The downstairs bar was pretty crowded and not too appealing but we were here for the beer and headed to their upstairs bar which was less packed but still jumping.  Our waitress was super helpful in helping us decide on what new beers to try.  This visit didn't warrent trying any more food but  I think it's perfectly acceptable to review this place based on the beer-barness of it.  Yeah, it's owned by the same company that owns all the PJ's in the area but it's definitely worth the trip for the beer.

Went there last night and was a bit surprised that they changed their menu. It is a bit more like a bar / tavern now that it was before (which I think it a good idea, considering that it's a beer place, not a restaurant)...

We split a large portion of nachos that were okay, but not great and then had St.Louis style ribs - those were pretty good.

I did not like the selection of beer on top, but I guess it's more about my weird taste rather than anything...

Still good overall though...

So I've now made it back to the Pour House.  My previous experience here had been quite disappointing, especially in regards to the borderline inedible wings, but enough time has passed that perhaps they've figured things out.

I'm glad I gave this place another shot.  The smoked porter wings had a nice balance of sweetness and spice and a pretty decent amount of meat on them.  I would order these again if I found myself back here.

It seems like every yelper in the garden state has been to Pour House in the past week.  I went for a last minute drink and bite to eat with my sister and her boyfriend on a recent Friday night.  The bar was absolutely packed, super loud, and it was very hard to get a bartender's attention.  Luckily, the guy standing next to me knew someone so he yelled out my round, which was awesome as I likely would have had to wait a while otherwise.  The beer list is pretty solid.  There is a decent selection on tap and an extensive list of bottles.

We put our name in for a table at the hostess stand and the girls said the wait was about twenty minutes and they would come and find us when a table was ready.  Forty five minutes later, my sister went over to check on the situation and was told that we had been crossed off the list because they couldn't find us.  Not sure how that happened, but within a few minutes we were seated.

Our server, while very pleasant, was also very forgetful or not detail oriented or something.  Other than beer, all we ordered was a burger, onion straws and nachos.  We requested that the chili be served on the side of the nachos and we also asked for a side of jalapenos.  The burger arrived without issue, the onion straws were fine as well, but the nachos came out with EVERYTHING on the side.  I'm not kidding, the server who brought them out (not our regular server) said, "nachos, everything on the side" as she placed a plate of tortilla chips with melted cheese on the table, followed by a plate with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pico de gallo and sour cream.  No guacamole, although it was listed on the menu, and no jalapenos.  When our server stopped by to check in with us, I asked for the guacamole and jalapenos.  He returned with the guacamole only and my sister and I just had to laugh at this point.  The man clearly did not want to give me the spicy peppers.

The burger was allegedly delicious, according to my sister's bf, who housed the thing in record time.  His fries came with a cup of melted American, which we promptly used as a dip for our onion straws.  If there is a will to eat like a fat kid, there is a way.  I'll definitely give Pour House another shot, but if I see the anti-jalapeno activist coming my way, I'm requesting a server change.

Recently made a stop at the Pour House in Whelihan Township, uh I mean Westmont, NJ. It was a Saturday night around eight in the evening. We procured a high top in the bar section and were presented with our large heavy paper stock menus. One side was food the other side - entirely beer. So far so good. Our server told us what the drink specials were (all Yards bottles were discounted).

After mentally making a selection from the draft list (and also planning what my second and thirds would be) our server arrived with the waters we had requested and asked if she could get us a drink. My dining / drinking companion went first but didn't get very far. "Oh we don't have that. Let me get you a draft list. The one on the menu isn't right." Wow. Isn't this place a beer bar? Shouldn't that have been the first thing mentioned just after, "Is this table OK?"

The first two pours were a Stone Ruination Ale ($6) and a Rogue Dry Hopped St. Rouge Red ($6). Surprisingly both came out in Chimay glasses which, with the head, is probably a 12 oz. pour or a 3/4 pint. Since the beers were only 7.7% and 5.2% ABV respectively this was a bit curious. Nowhere on the menu are the serving sizes noted for either drafts or bottles. My companion and I attempted to discuss glassware selection but conversation was a challenge as this place is noisy. The jukebox was cranked pretty well, but I would guess even if it was silent the ambient din alone would make conversing difficult.

The menu consisted of appetizers, sandwiches and salads and they did seem to offer a large variety of oysters which were on display at their raw bar. We opted to try three appetizers.  The Steak Crostini ($8) was steak, caramelized onions and white cheddar cheese atop toasted garlic bread. Pretty tasty (how's that for a great explanation) but not something you'd make the trip for or an "appetizer as a meal" selection.

The Fresh Tomato and Mozzarella ($8) consisted of 4 slices of beefsteak tomatoes each with an equally sized round of fresh mozzarella, a dollop of pesto and a drizzle of olive oil. The balance of all the ingredients was just right and this appetizer was quite enjoyable.

Mussels in white wine & garlic ($9) - Gorgeous mussels, plenty of garlic, perfectly cooked - all 18 of them. Yep, fifty cents a mussel.

Additional draft selections enjoyed were Stone Arrogant Bastard ($6) and a Left Hand Sawtooth Ale ($5) - and a Stone Ruination that came out in a pint glass (although the server mentioned the glass was an error). Curiously the line item on our tab read "Pint". We might have stayed for a couple more, BUT THEN THE BAND STARTED...you get the idea.

Nothing earth shattering here, although decent beer being served in South Jersey is always welcome. It's probably worth another try and  and try we will!

Went there for a few beers last night. They had the best selection of craft beers I have seen in south Jersey but not as good as some Philly pub. It is run by the PJ Welehans folks and the food menu is basically a smaller version of PJ's Wings were good and so was a steak tips appetizer. The waitress was nice and attentive. I asked if they had a particular beer that I am fond of, Arrogant Bastard ale. They did not but she at least went through the trouble of suggesting some similar beers they did have and even brought me a sample of one to try without me asking.

Only complaint was that it was at 9:30 at night and they sat a woman and her toddler son in our section. Now, the mother should have had enough common sense to sneak a flask into a Friendly's like a good alcoholic parent and not bring her child to a bar at 9:30 on a Saturday night. The staff should have had enough good sense not to seat them as well.

All and all, good beer, decent food and a chill atmosphere. Reminded me of some Manayunk bars. I will definitely be going back for a few more pints!

Went here last night for some drinks.

The live music was good. They had a bunch of TVs with sports on which was also good. They have a fairly good selection of beer, but not like some of the beer bars in Philly. The crowd was a little older than I expected and entirely Caucasian.

If you are from south jersey, and don't want to travel into the city for a wide selection of beers, then this place will do you well.

Didn't try their food, but the are owned by the same people who own PJ's so the food is probably similar.

I'm not a fan of seafood, so I didn't have much reason to stop in when the place was called Dockhoppers.  But as I was passing by a couple of weeks ago, I saw the sign said "Over 30 craft beers" and decided that was a good reason to stop in.

It was then I learned about the upcoming name and menu change and I'm glad I stopped in.  Today was my first try of the new menu and, so far, I'm very much a fan.

The havarti-stuffed burger caught my attention immediately, as almost anything stuffed with cheese will do with me.  Cooked exactly as I asked, it was just the right amount of juicy without sliding into "bloody" territory.

Instead of the standard chips or the upgrade to fries, I asked to my side to be a serving of the pierogies, which is another new addition to the menu.  While not as good as our family recipe (which, really, nothing can compare to a family recipe), they were the best pierogies I've had outside of Christmas Eve dinner.

As for the beers, well, those will have to wait until next time.  As it was St. Patrick's Day, I stuck with Guinness.

Lastly, the service today, as it's been every time I've visited, was fantastic.  Both Kelly and Brian behind the bar are extremely friendly and attentive.

I've eaten at this restaurant 2 times and have LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT both times.  Although it is a beer pub, I don't drink beer.  I am however, a huge fan of OYSTERS and GREAT MUSIC.  There are very few places in South Jersey where you can even get oysters on the half shell yet alone get the high quality and variety that is offered at The Pour House.  Whoever the person/people are who manage the RAW BAR - they do a fabulous job.  The oyster selection is one of the most unusual I have encountered and the FRESHNESS is amazing.  The server was EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE about the oysters and it was evident that she had received great training from the management of this restaurant.  I have eaten at PJ's and find The Pour House, although a part of this restaurant group, to be far superior in terms of how well-trained, knowledgeable and courteous their staff are.  They all seem to genuinely care about the customer.  Although the menu itself doesn't offer a huge variety, the choices that are offered have been very well thought out - they are interesting, appropriate for this type of bar/restaurant and the items I have tried were very good.  They also understand that is important to have a GREAT MUSSEL DISH on the menu to go with all of their beer choices.
Wednesdays is $1 oyster day (lunch and dinner) a the Pour House - so go there on a Wednesday if you are an oyster lover and you will be in for a great treat!
The classic rock and roll that is played here is a welcome change for me and the live band that I heard here on a Saturday night was terrific.

this place isn't what i need it to be.

went last night with high hopes and no expectations.  i've been searching for a place like this "A Better Beer Bar" (as they advertise) on this side of the Deleware for what seems like my entire life.  it remains my white whale.

first off, it doesn't really have the vibe of a place i want to chill at. nothing particularly wrong with it, all I know is I want my favorite beer bar to be like, more welcoming, or something.  i'm no snob, nor pretentious, and would (and do) gladly spend 10+ hours drinking into oblivion at Tom Fisher's Tavern or Connie Mac's Pub.  Those places make me want to chill and drink.    this place made me want to try a beer or two, give the food a shot and then leave.

the ambiance inside was irrelavent as I took my first beer out onto their patio, and that entire experience was great.  drinking while i watched the traffic go by on haddon avenue.  we made fun of some weirdo that walked by and tried to engage us in conversation.  good times.

their beer selection is slightly above average, nothing that will knock your socks off.  i guess i am snobby in the sense that i really hate it when a beer menu indiscriminatly lumps all their beer together, my eyes glaze over as I try to wade through the standard light beer crap to find the good stuff.

when eventually it got too cold for my one lame friend (a so-called "elite" reviewer around here, too elite for to bring a jacket apparently!) we went inside to eat.  nobody was impressed with their food.  you can find better burgers, wings and salads pretty much any other place you go on haddon avenue, even the other pj's has much tastier fare.  i had a mushroom melt which was OK, it was mostly bread, and substituting fries for chips was not worth the $2 it cost, as they were not that good.

3 only because they have a large selection of beers. The menu lacks an "entrée" section and lacks overall in quick personable service. The salads are loaded with fried items that sort of cancel out your attempts at being healthy. While Westmont is a very nice and upcoming area, I don't think that The Pour House adds much in the bar/restaurant department that we haven't seen millions of times over.

I enjoyed my vist to the Pour House the other day. We needed a place to watch the Champions League soccer final match, and decided to go there. The beer selection was very good, and the barmaid was very friendly and knowledgeable about the various beers. She was more than willing to let you sample any of the 18 beers on tap!  There are always 3-4 beers on special. The food was just fine for bar fare.  The nachos were very good, and the burgers as well....   It is a very comfortable setting, although this was a weekday afternoon. I want to give it another try on a weekend night soon.

All in all, I feel the Pour House to be a nice addition to South Jersey, especially for those of us who enjoy a good craft beer
