I generally go to the Pour House, once (maybe more) a week for lunch or after-work drinks. The menu has a lot of choices, and food isn't the best, but it is a great value. The beers are 22oz and the food hovers around $7 a plate. The portions are generous, and served promptly. Keep in mind that the food isn't anything close to gourmet, but sure beats the fast food McD's and Burger Kings of the world. Friday's for lunch tend to get a little crowed, and Thursday-Saturday nights there is generally a line, but no cover. There are daily specials, and 6-10 something is always half off.

If you are in the area and looking for something fast, cheap, and quick you have to stop into the Pour House. I have also been told that the Sunday brunch is great, but have yet been able to drag myself in that early in the morning.

I had a great time at this bar, mostly because it was the first spot we hit and were pumped up for the night. The atmosphere and vibe was great. College games were all over the screens, and tons of booths to sit in.

There's a downstairs bar as well, but that is more stand up space than booths. There's a huge screen TV right when you walk downstairs and a center island bar. We decided to stay on the top floor with the more vibrant people and get a booth.

We ordered a bunch of beers that came in the biggest glasses I've ever seen. My mug was about 2 full beers. They have Blue Moon but they don't have Harpoon IPA.

We also ordered fish n chips. We hated it. The fish was absolutely dry and bad. The fries were mediocre, and I ate most of the fries so that I could finish my beer. It's the friday night special but I do not recommend getting this here. Fill your fish n chips craving elsewhere!

The service was great and we had a great time, minus the fish n chips.

I love The Pour House!!!  Whether you're here for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a night out you cannot go wrong.  The burgers are pretty good especially if you go between 6-10 on Saturday when they're $3!! I prefer the chicken which is half off on Wednesday nights.  My favorite thing by far is the vegetarian burrito that doesn't seem like it would be good at a place like this, but is probably the best vegetarian burrito I've ever had.  Everything on the menu is a great deal for the price, most of the staff is really nice and friendly.

The beer selection is pretty good, seasonal Sam Adams, Harpoon etc. Nice when you don't want to pay a cover and just hang out although it does get pretty crowded.  And I would definitely recommend the nachos.

Breakfast with a group of friends in the city landed us here and we were quite pleased with the results.

The staff was extremely accommodating and were able to find the only high chair in the place for our 14 month old and also allowed us to relax and take up a huge corner while we waited for our other friends to arrive.

The portions were huge, and the price certainly was right. I had a french toast meal with bacon and the toast was buttery and cooked just right and the bacon was crisp and hit the spot.

The atmosphere was definitely that of a dive bar as far as decor and such go but the food was plentiful, the staff was wonderful and the Sunday Brunch menu cannot be beat.

Dive bar in a shitty neighborhood? No thanks.

Dive bar near Saks? Oh yes, I'll take one of those.

The food isn't great, but it is super cheap, so that's okay. Still, the chicken fingers tasted like the ones at Friendly's, which ain't bad in my book. The beer selection isn't terrible either, a couple types of Harpoon and the standard Sam Adams seasonal were available. Service was quick and surprisingly attentive. The atmosphere was friendlier than I had anticipated, given the initial meathead vibe.

Since there are no alcohol specials allowed anymore in Boston, they have insane food deals, like half-off on burgers (which normally are only, like, $3).

They got me drunk for cheap on decent beer and for that they get 4 stars!

I have been a frequent patron of the Pour House since first moving to Boston three years ago. As you'll see by my previous review, I initially found the service sketchy, although that problem seemed to work itself out. After my two most recent experiences here, however, I assure you I WILL NEVER RETURN.

Let me take you back about two or three weeks. It's a weekend, and out doing a bit of shopping, I decide to wander in for a sandwich and a beer. It is about 5 or 6 in the evening, and as often happens at this time of night, the PH undergoes a shift change. Unlike other establishments, however, they require you to cash out with the previous bartender and start a new tab with the 'tender who's coming on. Used to this, I don't complain. What DOES bother me, however, is that, in the 45 minutes to an hour that I sit at the bar, I NEVER ONCE SEE A BARTENDER OR SERVER after placing my initial order for a Pour Boy and a PBR. My food comes, but not once does somebody stop by to check on things or offer me another drink. So, quite reasonably, I get up to leave, leaving no tip and a nice little note with my email address on the back of the tab expressing my displeasure.

I never hear from anyone.

Fast forward to last evening (Thanksgiving). My friend has a friend of hers in town with fellow crew members. (They are pilots/stewards/stewardesses). We take them to the Pour House. I arrive early, order the standard Pour Boy and PBR, rethink my frustrations of a few weeks ago as the service is "okay," but then when everyone else arrives we make our way to two tables and it all falls apart. The service remains "okay" at best (the waitress appears to be new, to be fair, so I don't fault her), but shortly after 12 I find that my tab has been randomly shut down and I'm being asked to leave. Alright. So I go to the bartender and pay my $108 tab (Now I can drink, but clearly I did not drink 12 beers and 6 shots all by my lonesome; there are 8 people in our party...) and leave it at that. Except that when another member of our party inquires as to WHY this is so, and then asks for the second tab we'd opened, the manager starts giving him shit. Pulling the old 'roid meathead crap. Won't just give him the bill and let him pay, but has to play tough guy. I leave and wait outside, and by the time people start filtering out I can tell a lot more went down after I left.

So what happened? Did they suddenly remember me as the guy who'd left the nasty note a few weeks back? Perhaps the neanderthal actor from the show Weeds didn't like my none too quiet comment about how he needs to finish evolving and had us tossed. Or maybe these douchebags were pissed they had to work on Thanksgiving. They tossed another guy earlier in the evening, and I swear he'd only come in to pick up a called-in food order. I don't know, but I DO know I'll NEVER patronize this dive again.

Good riddance.

First stop in Boston and what better than to have breakfast early in the morning at a little pub.  Surprisingly, everything on the menu is relatively inexpensive, most items costing less than $7.

I decided to go with the Pour House Omelette (I'm a sucker for things named after the establishment) which is filled with chili and comes with a side of potatoes.  I would say it's breakfast fare that you would make yourself.  Not bad but not perfect.  Homey but missing some qualities.  The potatoes were flavorful but cut in really small pieces which means some were overcooked.  The eggs were lightly seasoned with salt but needed more fluff. The chili had flavor but could have had more of a kick.

Our waitress was really sweet and quick.  They do seem a little older so it's kind of like your grandma is serving you in a pub; feels wrong in a way.  Good place for a first stop.

To complete the slew of "Epic Boston Trip '09" reviews, I of course have to mention The Pour House (not to be confused with the less than stellar pub in NYC with the same name).  I went here with Simona S. and some friends and we enjoyed our $3 burgers.  Oh, that's right, a kick-ass burger and fries for 3 dollars!  One Saturday nights, from 6-10 pm, they have 1/2 priced burgers.  I'd trek my way back to Boston for that sweet (or should I say "wicked") deal alone.

It's best to get there early, because seats apparently fill up fast.  Or you can just do what we did and bring along your Australian-born pal to charm a couple out of a four-person table with her adorable accent.

I had a blast watching my Bears win against Detroit (big whoop) last Sunday at the Pour House.  The crowd was huge, with delegations from most NFL teams representing.  The waitresses were friendly, outgoing and cute.  When they saw us cheering wildly for the Bears they were quick to offer up congratulatory high-fives.  Beer was cheap and our order of nachos came in a HUGE pile.  What more do you need really?

I don't live in Boston, but if I did (and I believe I could), I'd be a regular here.

So this is how it goes: Planning and Service: +++++7 stars. Food: 3-4 stars. Price: +++++ 5 stars.

Today I just planned the EASIEST Surprise birthday brunch at Pour House. I called up Monday and got an immediate response - Yes I could make a reservation for 20 in the downstairs Sunday at noon. A few days later I got a confirmation email, and the day of the event I walked my boyfriend over to an area that had been roped off since 11am and was full of friends singing happy birthday.

Thank you Pour House! I've never had such an easy and head-ache free time planning an event. No reservation fee, no set menu --- nothing! They didn't even charge me a fee for bringing my own cake! The waitstaff was PHENOMENAL - even with the kitchen being backed up and even with a couple of my friends having to make meal/bill changes.

I will be honest with you - this revived my interest in coming back to PH for brunch. Breakfast items are cheap and good, and they usually come with coffee or some drink special. My friend had the GIANT bloody marys - the first $3.50 with the meal and the rest $6. Another friend introduced me to the Pumpkin Pie pancakes --- YUMM.

As for the food - it's been about 80% Hit and 20% Miss over my past 3 years in Boston.

Veggie Quesadilla: HIT
Chicken Sandwiches (all): MISS
Burgers (all): MISS
Breakfast (all): HIT
Tuna Melt: HIT

In fact, the birthday boy ordered a burger (we didn't know they were notoriously bad), and it was horrible. We told the waitress, and she admitted she hadn't tried them. Linda E. said she'd had them before, and they were bad. They didn't offer to change the meal, but 1) we didnt' ask and 2) service was so fabulous I didn't care (plus at about $6 I was willing to get him something else for his birthday).

Also, did I mention this is a great spot to get a beer?

Though it remains three stars, it's worth it to mention that The Pour House serves up a cheap, filling breakfast at a time when few establishments do.

Though the service is no better in the wee hours, the colossal bloody mary's provide for adequate distraction! Though I don't claim to be a bloody mary expert, I can clearly explain my reasons for approving of this version:

1. Sheer size: one in the AM is more than enough, especially when you have a day of work ahead. When you're free and clear, then let the games begin!

2. Spice! Though I could use even a more bit of the hotness, you'll never be able to accuse this version of being bland.

3. Price: $6.50. There isn't much more that can be said here.

Though it may never be your first choice, its always an option, especially if you're looking to fill up for less and get a little begin-the-day buzz on for cheap!

Alright Pour House, bumping it up a notch. Your breakfast is pretty awesome.

First of all, your Bloody Mary's are fabulous, huge, and only $6. Served spicy with a lemon, lime, celery stick, AND an olive? Fabulous.

Secondly, you gave us each $5 gift cards when we ordered... that we could use for towards paying for our breakfast?! Considering breakfast is so cheap here, after using our gift cards, we only ended up paying the cost of our drink! Do you do this ALL the time?

Despite the discrepancy in my order (I asked for A pumpkin pie pancake, singular, not a full order), they only charged me for one, and it was delicious! Very pumpkin-y!

If I'm hankering for a cheap, no frills breakfast on a weekday, this is undoubtedly one of the best places to go in the Back Bay.

Pour House, you're redeeming yourself.

I LOVE Pour House breakfasts!! Mainly because they serve festively alcoholic beverages with your omelet or pancakes. By nature I am not a breakfast person but I have found a new love of this morning ritual. And, it is a fantastic way to end a night shift. I definitely recommend their bacon, egg, and cheese quesadilla (only served Monday - Friday), omelet, and, home fries (YUM!). However, you don't try to get those festive alcoholic beverages on Sunday morning until after 11am - because you can't. It's not the Pour Houses fault it is the stupid law in Ma.
I have not tried it for lunch or dinner but they have a large menu and I am sure taste good too.
The staff is friendly and see to work together really well. Definitely give it a try - especially for breakfast.

I have to think of Pour House as two separate places. The first Pour House I want to talk about is the bar. I don't ever remember having a terrible time while drinking at the Pour House. The big beers for reasonable prices are great. When you spill an entire beer on your lap, it's ok, because they aren't that expensive. Only complaint is that it gets too crowded, but I mean that's the same with all the bars there so I guess it just comes with the territory.

So now, I will discuss the food part of Pour House... I don't like to associate the two together because I see what goes down at night and I don't like to think that I am eating in the same place.

I went on Sunday for brunch. I ordered pancakes because I was in the mood for something sweet... I was a little disappointed though. They were overcooked but too battery... it was strange. It just didn't taste right. Service was good, endless coffee was good and the HOME FRIES were fantastic being all cute in their little skillet. SO all in all, both places are good and of course I will find myself back there again most likely drunk and spilling another 22 oz on myself... maybe I'll just crash until morning and then I can have breakfast...

Went there a few times.
Once I went for Cinco de Mayo and had pretty descent Mexican Food. I had an enchilada.  When I asked for guacamole on the side, I was saddened to hear that they did not serve guacamole at all.  What kind of place that serves "Mexican Food" doesn't have guacamole? I decided that I wouldn't try the Mexican Food, but something else on my return visit.

I brought some friends here who were in town for my birthday.  It was a Saturday and I knew they had a Happy Hour for half-off burgers from 6-10pm.  The patties are pre-made which isn't that exciting, but for half off you're only spending about $3 for a quarter pounder burger with nice toppings which include sauteed onions and melted cheese.  My vegetarian friend was also able to add $1 to get a veggie patty!  My friend who had a mushroom burger wasn't very happy, the mushrooms looked to be boiled rather than sauteed.  The beers were ice cold in frozen 22oz glasses and there were lots of options.  One bad thing is that they charge 35 cents for ranch dressing and bbq sauce...booo.

All in all it was a nice cheap birthday dinner for 6 people with burgers, drinks, tax, and tip totaling about $70!!

Thank you for being a bar that doesn't overcharge for simple gin and tonics. At $6 each, this is good.

Other than that, there is nothing really special about Pour House. It's good for groups, and does all the minimums that bars do. I'm not sure anything can or needs to be said about Pour House.

I thought to share this reviews for those who hasn't tried or even heard of this place. This 2 floor American style restaurant has lovely dishes and drinks to choose from and exceptional space to move yourself round.

I came here with an best mate for brunch and it was a success-though that wasn't the tale to begin with. Why? We walked in around 1.30pm to find a fully packed restaurant with no tables on the top floor.

However we were told by these cute looking waitress that there are more seating available in the basement- I just wish they warned us that there were football die hard fans waiting for us with open arms b/c quite frankly i got a shock of my life after got seated, hearing these loud yanks screaming my ears off (since there were 4 sport screens showing 3 different games) everytime there was a foul play/touchdown showing  on the screen...

Anyways that didn't spoil the brunch since what i ordered ( blueberry pancakes-comes in 3 slices) big enough to fill your tummy was superb and a glass of cranberry juice was too sweet so i just ask for a glass of water to add onto them.

The waitress was very attentive and the service was great.
Definitely come back again but please don't come when they are showing live games b/c quite frankly i left home with an earache!

Excellent breakfast and one of the best prices in the area.  For my next trip back to Boston this will be on my list of where to eat.

There was some "entertainment" on a Wednesday morning.  A group of girls were just getting hammered during breakfast time which only added to the fun.  Definetly a college bar.

It is a typical college bar with a lot of new TVs. I used to come here back in my college days and just went back here recently for couple drinks and food.

The service was pretty good for a semi busy night but it is kinda slow. Food is ok and it won't kill you. The down stairs bathroom smell moldy...

There is only one bad thing I have to say about this place- The line to get into the place, and then get downstairs was loooong.

Okay, now that we have that out of the way, I am excited to tell you about my Pour House experience. The Pour House has the charm of a bar you'd find in more rural college town opposed to Boston. I've found that most Boston college bars are really... bars that you'll find more "college aged" folks at opposed to college students- if you get what I'm saying.

When I was there all draft beers were $5.50 which is a bargain considering their drafts are served in GIANT glass mugs. The bartenders were busy, yet still fairly friendly and there was no minimum charge for use of a credit card.

The only food I had was the FREE HOTDOGS! Yes, I said it. When I went, there were free hotdogs at the bar. Now... the hotdogs had that "oh man his is free" taste, but when you are not paying for them- you can't complain.

I'm not sure if this will be a regular spot for me, but I would not hesitate for a second to go again.

Dive Bar Central.  So I've only been to the Pour House in the morning after working an overnight shift so it's technically my "Happy Hour".  The great thing about this place is that they serve alcohol...at 8am!  It's still weird to me to be having a beer in the morning but my coworkers sure love it.

Last time I came here, my coworker ordered french toast with an ice cold 22oz PBR.  The idea of that combination is amazing and disgusting at the same time.  However, the great thing is that it's SUPER CHEAP!  I had the Super Home Fries which gave me the most incredible heartburn, but they warn you on the menu.  It was tasty, until I ate too much.  I've also had the Pour Man's Hash which is my personal fave there, mashed potatoes grilled and covered with cheese and meat...yum.

Before I venture into the world of 8am beer and breakfast, I'll start slow with a mimosa or something.  Baby steps.

maybe: weekend. downstairs. hangover cure.

super inexpensive and huge bloody mary's.  this was my sunday, every weekend, for a long time.

coming here at night can be hit or miss- it's the sort of place you'll always run into someone you know, but it can be so packed in here at night sometimes that it's not worth the wait outside.  just come back the next morning, grab yourself a table and indulge then.

This is the best dive bar in the city.  The price of the Tall Boys has almost doubled in the last few years, but it is still worth it.  They have cheap drink all around, but the Large Drafts are the best ones.

The food is pretty good, but when you consider the cost of it is really good deal.  I love the Soft Tacos, but almost everything on the menu is tasty.

The downstairs tends to be easier to meet people.  It is not open all the time and they usually only open it a few nights a week.  Upstairs is a great place to hang out with your boys and have a few, but it is pretty tough to get a tasty snack up there.

I've been to The Pour House a few times when I would visit Boston and honestly, it's not all that great. I came here to grab drinks with a buddy of mine and service was relatively quick and it wasn't necessarily bad service perse, it more of an impersonal drinking experience there. Drinks were served robotically-- no chit chat with b between the bartender and I-- just a lot of pouring on his part, and alot of drinking on mine.

As far as beer selection goes, beer snobs will be blue-balled. Their fleet of beers is nothing short of the standard stuff: Guinness, PBRs, Heinekens, Stellas, Sam Adams (duh). Nothing to knock your socks off unfortunately. On the flip side, the price for a pint isn't too bad so if you're not too picky about your booze, The Pour House is a pretty decent choice.

I LOVED The Pour House when I first moved to Boston. I went with my dad while we were apartment hunting (had to find a suitable, affordable apartment in a single day!) because he could smell the onion rings and we were in desperate need of beer. In we went and I looked around, heard Nine Inch Nails, and thought, "This is probably not a place to bring your dad." My dad, however? "Sal, this place is amazing! Look at the cheap, giant beers! And there's sports on TV! And the music's...interesting!" This was probably around 2 or 3 in the afternoon and the place was suitably relatively empty.

This was back in my gluten-eating days and Dad and I shoved our faces with burgers and onion rings. Dad started out with their clam chowder and proclaimed it "the best he's ever had." Beer was guzzled, greasy food packed into happy bellies. Two thumbs up!

After several more visits to Pour House since that trip, I would still declare it a fun hang out. They have super cheap food and I remember it fondly. It gets ridiculous on weekend nights, so I avoid it then, but otherwise a definite joy. My only qualm is that there's no cider available, so GFers are SOL in terms of drinks, but I guess there's always liquor...in the afternoon.

Whenever my parents are in town, they hit up The Pour House at least twice (while I'm at work) and are always raving it about by the time I get back to my place. Dad still says "best chowder in the city!"

This is a strictly food and service review, so if you're hungry and roaming around Boylston Street before the bars start getting packed, hopefully this will help influence your decision.

Seat yourself! Don't stand around waiting, grab a table as fast as possible, and you'll get better service if you sit in the back because that's where the orders are entered and the door to the kitchen. Whereas, if you sit closer to the bar- more than likely your water/beer will not be replaced very quickly.

The menu has many different options, providing the fix for whatever your stomach is craving. I have very much enjoyed the bbq chicken sandwich as well as breakfast there- but really, if you are a breakfast lover, make it to brunch because it will be well worth you while. I've also had the popcorn shrimp, not great- so skip the appetizer and stock up on the beer instead.

So definitely impressive for your Boylston bar food, as well as providing a selection beyond fish and chips. Just make sure you sit in the back if you're starving! And the prices are very reasonable, and worth it!

We went here, as we were starting to get tired of our usual low cost dinner places.

It was not a bad experience.   The food was good, but not high end (I had the soft tacos with chicken), portion sizes were generous.  Overall very tasty.

I went with my Fiancé and her two boys.   The atmosphere on a labor day long weekend Sunday at ~7pm was nice and kid friendly (though the boys were made slightly uncomfortable by the nude woman painting on the wall)

The service was quick and friendly.

I would (and will) definitely go again.

With 324 prior reviews, writing another one for the Pour House is like throwing a match on a 5 alarm fire to make it burn faster. In fact, the only reason you lit the match in the first place was for that incredible smell that only a freshly lit match can produce.

It goes without saying that The Pour House is my favorite college dive (can you call this a dive?) in the city.  The dark lighting, the alcohol related wall murals, the random painted tables, the roll of paper towels hanging on the wall.  Ain't no tablecloths here!  And yet, each time I've come, despite being busy, its been pretty low key.  You can hear others talk from across the table without leaning in and saying "Huh?!" a lot, which scores huge with me.  I mean, if you can't have a proper conversation because the music is too loud, what's the point of going out to eat and drink with friends?  It could be appealing if I got off on just staring at people watching them eat, but then, I think there's a list the state would require me to register myself on if that were the case.

The best thing about being a regular here, especially during school season, is that you know it's seat-yourself.  Blow past the two girls twirling their hair waiting for a host that'll never show up and get yourself a table.  If people are getting up to leave a table, stand next to it and stake your claim.  Your server will be along to clean the table in a minute.

Now, the food here is standard, straight down the middle American pub fare.  Greasy burgers, previously frozen french fries (avoid them if possible) and middling onion rings are king, but there's plenty of other choices on the menu but I've never had anything else, especially since on Saturday nights all burgers are half-price.  As in, "This burger only costs $2.50? Get me two!"  Combine this with their giant 22oz, pre-chilled beer glasses which run about $5.50 for some UFO and it becomes one of the best dinner deals in town.

Hell, I took out-of-town cousins here, covered the table with burgers and beers and had a great time critiquing the music choices, explaining just what the Green Monster is (which is actually difficult to do when the Sox aren't hitting!) and generally having a good time.  The Pour House remains my favorite, truly down-to-earth place in Back Bay and I hope it never goes away.  Seriously.  I'll be really pissed.

Okay for serious I have been here like five times and still have not reviewed this place. That is selfish of me and I am sorry. I'M SORRY, YELPERS.

Okay, a few things:

1. Pumpkin pie pancakes. How did Pour House know that I will eat anything pumpkin flavored? How are they mind readers? So obvi totes I got them on my first trip here. I came for the pancakes and was not disappointed.

2. Cheap. As others have mentioned, they do half off burgers on Saturdays and half off chicken on Wednesdays and some kind of Mexican night on Mondays. I mean it's irrelevant to me because I come for the breakfast and I'm pretty sure nothing costs more than $.8.95.

3. Hangovers. At least the food is great for hangover-induced binges. I have not personally come here for that reason but I've heard it's excellent. Also excellent for bloody marys for a bit of that hair of the dog.

4. Grease. I like to watch my friends order the Pour Joe's Special (or whatever it's called) and the super homefries. Then I like to pick at their food because I'm not man enough to order it myself.

5. The coffee. It could be so much better. It tastes like watered down New Jersey diner coffee. I'll drink it because it's in front of me... but I'd rather not.

My go to spot. Find me here twice a month. Don't say hi because I'll be too busy shoveling food in my mouth to say hi back. But acknowledging my presence is fine.

Best brunch in Boston?  Are you kidding me?  This was the most ordinary bar breakfast around that was a couple bucks less than the somewhat nicer restaurants nearby, and somehow it's the best brunch around.  For the huevos rancheros the beans were not fully cooked - still nice and firm/crunchy.  Hashbrowns seem to be frozen kind that are just dropped in the frier prior to serving.  Service was just ok, and if this is the best in Boston then Boston is hopeless.

I love the Pour House.  I don't really go here to go out at night, but it is great for two main reasons.

#1  Cheap Food!
Everything I've eaten there from breakfast to dinner is decent, and amazingly cheap for the area-especially on half off nights!  I've never had anyone say they had anything bad here really, and most people just love how much food you can get for so little!

#2 22oz Beers for less than $6 even at 8AM
So I've always loved coming here for a beer after work because it's easy to get in and out.  This didn't change when I started working overnights at the hospital.  Sometimes you just want a drink after work, and if it's 8AM you don't have many options!  The Pour House helps out sooo much when I have one of those stressed out nights!

I love the reliability of the Pour House, and definitely recommend!

This bar is great for hanging out with a group of people on a Friday or Saturday night. Drinks are cheap and the food is really good. Get there early enough to go downstairs before the crowd hits and you are set for the whole night. I love how the downstairs does not get crowded because I want to feel like I am at a bar, not a college frat party.

The DJ last night was great, playing a mix of dance songs from the 80/90s (much better than the usual cliche ones) along with current dance songs so that you never get sick of hearing just the same overplayed songs you would hear on the radio.

I also find the art on the walls here to be very entertaining...the pictures are so bad that they are actually good, such as the incredibly unproportioned naked lady in the upstairs dining room. Oh, and I cant forget about the cardboard Dos Equis man downstairs that you can fondle and take pictures with until the bouncer gets annoyed and takes him away.

It is also cool that the kitchen stays open until 1:30. And if you dont want to go upstairs to eat, thats okay because they brought out free hot dogs downstairs at 1am!

The Pour House is solid.  It will not wow you, nor will it let you down.  It's going to put the ball in play.  It's not going to turn the football over.  It's that shirt you own that you turn to when you can't really think of anything else to wear, because you know you look pretty good in it.  For this, most young people in or around the Back Bay respect and enjoy it.  Such honors are certainly deserved.

It's a fine place to spend a Saturday night -- it gets crowded, but not too crowded, and you can order plenty of cheap piles of food to satisfy whatever size group you're with.

It's be lovely if they let you crash there, as well, because brunch is cheap and, for the price, relatively fabulous.  I'm in love with any place that lets me sit at a table with a plate of pumpkin pie pancakes, some eggs, and a bagel sandwich (they are REALLY great here, seriously) across from my buddy chowing down on a burger or a buffalo chicken sandwich.

The food is better than it needs to be.  I am a breakfast food animal, and the brunch stuff here is legitimate: the pancakes have sufficient body, the eggs are usually cooked pretty well (you'll get a cooked yolk in over-easy eggs every now and then, but whatever), and the french toasted has a good crisp exterior to it.  The home fries are good (small dice, and they're fried, which gives them a nice crunch), and the bagel sandwiches, like I said, are excellent.

The only place the Pour House really misses is the coffee.  It's watery and terrible.  Just don't get it, it's sadly not worth it.  You can see all the way to the bottom of a full mug.  Some might say this is an absolute brunch-killer, but I'm more lenient, and happy to just get orange juice or water instead.

Going to the Pour House is never really an idea, but it's always a pretty good answer.  If you haven't been, you should.

The Pour House is now worthy of 4 stars after my most recent visit.  A friend and I stumbled in after our first choice, Parish Cafe, was super busy and we didn't feel like waiting.  I hadn't been to Pour House in years and my tummy was rumbling 'American fare' so it seemed like the most obvious choice.

I give our waitress a lot of credit for staying friendly due to my inability to decide on what to order.  But we made up for it for barely bothering her as we ate our meal.  I ended up ordering one of the specials for the day - meatball parm sub.  Simple, but oh so satisfying.  The kicker is that the meatballs are sandwiched between garlic toast.  Does it get any better than that?  I was not all that impressed with their fries - I've had better, but tasty, nonetheless.

The only downside is that it doesn't seem that they are air conditioned.  It was a pretty warm day and after having walked down Newbury Street and Boylston, I was definitely sweatin' a little and could've used a nice cool me down.  If I'm going to be eating hot food, I prefer eating it in a cool atmosphere.  Nothing worse than being hot and eating hot food.  They left the door open to let in the cool breeze, but since we were sitting right by the door, not only did we get the cool breeze, but also the cigarette smoke from those milling around outside.  Yum.  Still a fun atmosphere for a casual night out with friends.  Next time, I'll just remember to wear capri's or shorts....

I'd like to give this place five stars twice.  Why?

First, as a regular bar, you can't find a better place to watch a Sox game.  TVs are everywhere, the ambiance is chill and fun, they make sure it doesn't get way too crowded, and the drinks are cheap and plentiful.

Second, as a place to host a event or fundraiser, they really go the extra mile to ensure you and your friends/colleagues have a great time.  I have held two fundraisers there before and have barely had to worry about anything in regard to setting up the event.  If you hold a Tuesday evening fundraiser during Red Sox season, they provide you and your guests with hot dogs, nachos, chili and apple crisp!

My kind of bar.

I've gotten good reviews of this place from other people, but my experience there personally wasn't all that great. Went there the other night with a few friends for the buffalo wings and a few drinks.

The waitress was atrocious. I'm not very picky about service, I don't complain really ever, but this was hardly "service" to begin with. She didn't greet us, took about 10-15 minutes to even notice we were there (and the place wasn't packed mind you), and slammed some menus on our table without even making eye contact.

She didn't offer or bring us water, until we had to request it later. She greeted us by saying "So, you ordering drinks or what?" She then proceeded to not come by AT ALL to ask us if we needed anything else or how our food was. She seemed personally offended when we didn't order any more than one drink each, and when she did finally talk to us, her tone was extremely condescending.

Not sure if I would go back there. The food wasn't that great either and the drinks were nothing to even bother writing about.

This review is solely for the food. The Pour House dishes out some pretty good food. I usually come here during the day/morning/brunch to cure hangovers with brunch foods or burgers or wraps - whatever I'm feeling like. They've got pretty good breakfast foods, but I mostly come here for the lunch foods. Sandwiches and wraps are great and make you momentarily forget that you want to toss up everything you've had in the last 24 hours.

Their apple juice is crazy sweet though! It tastes like they added honey to it! So beware. Nothing usually jumps out specifically at me, but that's just because everything is relatively good.
