I was pleasantly surprised. I had won a gift card to use here and finally made my way in. I noticed a sign on the door that a class was about to begin. I entered anyway and began to peruse - i did have a spending plan in mind. I was approached by two different, appropriately friendly staffers, who welcomed me, let me know about the class, and invited me to attend the free class. Sure, why not?
Antoinette was the instructor and the class was Toys for Couples. I'm relatively comfortable around sex toys, but I was really impressed with her demeanor, humor and frankness. Its because of other folks like her that I'm as comfortable as I am around sex toys - and I love that sex positive people are offering FREE classes/demos. Quality information and healthy reminders on how to play and stay safe with your toys.
Antoinette's presentation actually reinforced the purchase I planned to make. I earned a discount for attending the class and filling out a survey. I was happy to spend my money here. -

This place not only looks beautiful, but I'm also impressed by the variety of toys and how knowledgeable the staff is. They are very forward and will give their personal advice about a product - which is something I appreciate. The woman with the locs is very personable. The other thing that makes this place stand out are the free workshops once per week - they seem to cover almost every topic!
I'd say the majority of objects in here are toys, a sizable amount is devoted to lubes, gifts, books, etc., and a small section in the corner for bdsm. There's a great amount of high end items online if you can't find it in the store ($210 for a flogger? Damn, that's for the experts I guess). The place doesn't offer too many lingerie pieces/attire or bachellorette party items, which means that the tackiness factor at this place is minimal. Thank goodness, a sex boutique for adults :) -

There is a hot pink silicone strand of anal beads at this place that has my name written all over it. Yeah, that's right - I'm comin' back to get you next weekend!
I can easily overlook the corniness of this store's name, because the selection and quality of toys and the knowledge of the employees is top notch. Whether you're a curious first-time buyer or a seasoned sexy toy pro or somewhere in the middle (like moi), you can rest assured that you will walk out of here with something that is safe, fun and totally compatible with your own wants and needs.
I personally recommend the Fun Factory brand - while also a corny name (what is it with those?!), the toys are made of super smooth silicone and truly were developed with comfort in mind. I was informed that the company was born after a couple started molding hypothetical sex toys out of Play-doh at the dinner table one night. (Sounds like the start of a great third date.)
You'll find nothing cheap or tacky here. Be prepared to pay $30 and up for, say, a dildo or a butt plug, and definitely take their advice about purchasing water-based lubricant if you don't have some already. And most importantly, be open minded when you're browsing, and have fun!

yes, Yes, YES! Who doesn't like pleasure?? And here, you sure got all the goods to stuff that pleasure chest. If you don't like pleasure, then there's other places for you...
Thankfully this is one "adult store" (I love calling it that) which isn't overwhelmed with tacky bachelorette party gag gifts. Go to "Batteries Not Included" off Halsted for that! Oh and for lingerie, you have the "Lover's Lane" [hurl-icious] for that!
This PC (or not?) location has an excellent selection of lubricants: Water, Silicone, and the in-between. I recommend to everyone Gun Oil for every situation. For those who have resisted the temptations of in-house Internet pornography, PC still sells a fair selection of "adult videos" (also fun to type). I appreciate that this location always feels so emo and care-free. It's Hetero-Gay-Trans accepting...and just all around SEX-HAPPY friendly! It's a nice balance between kinky-nast eroticism and class. SCORE!

The staff here were respectfully engaging from the moment we walked in and incredibly friendly. Though there were only two women staffing the store while me and my partner were there, the one that helped us was very knowledgeable about products for men and helped us find exactly what we were looking for and then some! (Receiving a free bottle of lube helped my impression quite a bit too!) I know exactly where I'll be going for my future sex-related needs.

Here I am writing another review about a sex shop. This will officially make 40% of my reviews about SEX SHOPS. This says nothing about my personality.
Being that we were visiting Chicago and left our toy at home and couldn't go a few days without it, we made a trip here after Crisp (which I'm totally going to jizz about after this).
So.
This place expects you to want to make it rain (this means "pay a lot of dinero" for you non-rappers) for enhanced sex. It's just so nice and pricey. The employees aren't too helpful, which is a good thing in a sex shop. Four stars for being a pretty great sex shop but again, it was pretty small. The worker with the big beard told me about the two story one in LA and I guess I have to go there now.
Oh and did I mention that a lesbian works here? ;) Walked in with my gf and if you're familiar with real lesbians, you know... the ones that aren't slapping each others vaginas in porn, we experienced the lesbian staring showdown. If you'd like a similar experience, please stop by. You guys could lol at how hilariously awesome their logo is. -

Well, not really. I've decided to this more "Mad Lib" style. Enjoy kids!
After parking our (noun) in the ample parking lot *score*, the boyfriend and I meandered over to the (noun) section to peruse the wares. We were in the market for a (noun). We needed it somewhere between (adjective) to (adjective) size. The young lady working that day must have seen the look of (adjective) on our faces because she came over to give us a hand. She was very helpful and full of useful information about our (noun) purchase. She even said that her girlfriend couldn't get enough of them. After we decided on the (adjective) (noun), we needed to look in to the necessary accoutrements. There was a whole wall full of the stuff! Once again, the sales gal saw the look of (adjective) on our faces and suggested a (adjective) based (noun).
Now that the serious shopping was out of the way it was time for a little fun time. Over in the DVD section, I spotted some of these titles:

Hot wax candles that turn into massage oils?!

I was really excited to see a shop that had everything I could ever want.
They are fully stocked and have everything for beginners to experts.
At first I wasn't impressed with the staff but my overall experience was great. Everything was clean and tidy, even the testers looked brand new. The smell is of fresh flowers lilies to be exact and a relaxing feeling. I feel they have a great selection of products and more bang for your buck. I don't think their products are cheap imitation and one time use kind of thing. They even told me certain toys come with warranty! this made me giggle. The staff here is extremely knowledgeable. The store offers a wide variety of products and affordable prices. Some stuff is a little pricey, but there is usually an item similar at a lower price. They also offer workshops. For anyone new to this store, there is no need to feel uncomfortable. The ladies here are professionals.

This place is awesome. From the huge array of toys, fluids, books, to the highly informed staff, whatever your passion, you'll probably find that it will spark, inspire, and lube your creativity. I like the environment, which feels more like an upscale bookstore than an adult novelty zone.
The only thing that deters me from giving this place 5 stars is the pricing. It's great that all this stuff is accessible right there (especially if you don't know your goos), but when you can get the same items for half the price online, it's a hard sell; but what you're really paying for is the convenience, selection, and environment.
When I went last, they offered a free toy with a Yelp checkin. The $14.99 item they provide is somewhat subpar, but why not? It's free! -

Ok, I had to make the trip after a recommendation from a friend...
First off, the logo is perfect!! What a great design and while tasteful, it's erotic as well.
Now I didn't have a shopping list or any idea - I was just "browsing". I don't frequent these types of shops, but I am also not a prude. I just wanted to broaden my horizons and "educate" myself in the unspoken glories of love.
The shop is tasteful and clean and I got an unknown type of look when I went in...hmmmm. Maybe I'm just paranoid.
I was asked if I needed anything and to their disappointment, I replied in a confident: "No thank you, I'm just looking".
Needless to say, I left the store emptyhanded but with a new found interest into the world of erotic. (The Liberator Wedge? Cooool!)
I still don't get the "Beladonna's Foot Soldiers"....but I did think that they were funny. -

Oh yeah. I've been here, and I liked it. I didn't even fake how much I liked it. AND I've been back. Many times. Oh baby, oh baby. The selection is superior to any other store around, and the associates are friendly and knowledgeable. It's tasteful, which is something to be said about an adult store. Many aren't tasteful at all, or clean, and this is as tasteful as a sex toy and supply store can be... and you can even go on excursions with your entire group of friends. I've even helped my friends pick things out to use with their partners. It's fun, I enjoy it. I bet you'll enjoy it. Go to the Pleasure Chest, get something you need, and something you think would be fun to try... everyone's play time needs some spice every now and then.

Alright, so I'll be straight with y'all...I'm no prude, but Lover's Lane generally makes me want to vomit. I'm not into cheesy crappola, especially when it comes to....these type of activities.
Having said that, Pleasure Chest certainly hits a careful balance between kink and class. Difficult, indeed. The interior is nicely appointed (giggle, but no seriously...they have bouquets from Belmont Floral, et al). It's nicely arranged, large selection of...ahem...instruments, as well as other items such as candles, couples kits, books, bachelorette party stuff.
Kind of something for everyone, and you won't feel like a creepsicle walking in, either. The staff is really professional, not like the angry, angst plagued people over at Taboo Taboo :)
Oh, and a parking lot...gotta have a way to haul all the loot home. -

Wow! I used to frequent this store when it was on Broadway (not frequent it cuz I own a lot of sex toys, but I had a lot of bachelorette parties for which to prepare), and always enjoyed my visits. But this new(ish) store is a vast improvement.
Spacious, nice layout, everything is very organized...and the staff is super-friendly and helpful. You can play with a lot of the toys (try before you buy, right?!?) and decide what is the best buy for you...are you a bunny kind of girl? How about a little cute green worm? Odds are good, they have the right contraption to make you feel nice.
They also have quite the selection of bachelorette party-themed gifts and gags. Ya know, cuz that's why I was there. Anything from favors (penis-straws anyone?) to gag gifts (bride and groom shot glasses? perfect for the reception!!!). It's fun just to browse, even if you don't want to buy.
We found the perfect fun little favors for our bachelorette party...and found out that you can even purchase a speculum...ya know, if you wanna check out your cervix.*

I've been a long time fan of Pleasure Chest. It's not a sleazy sex toy shop. It's clean, the staff are knowledgeable, the products are well made and worth their money. They do workshops on all sorts of topics and I never feel like I am going to be ridiculed or shamed when I attend them. In short, this is a dream shop. They aren't sleazy or nasty and I feel empowered when I walk through the door. This store is for adult pleasures, not crappy bachelorette crap or gag sex stuff. The toys here range in price from very reasonable to very high end. If you want quality sex toys, and a helpful, candid, and knowledgeable staff, go here. You won't be disappointed. I am moving and I am going to miss this place dreadfully!

Despite my being an overly carefree ultra liberal modern man in his late 20's I've always been squeamish about coming in to these kinds of shops. Some part of my psyche must still be in a Catholic church from my childhood that makes you ashamed of anything involving a penis or a vagina. Though the church probably had more devious and perverted shenanigans going on there than any adults-only venue. This shop was nice and easy though.
The layout and presentation is very classy and elegant and you don't feel like you're at some shady porn shop near an airport with creepy dudes walking in and out of booths. The guy behind the counter was really friendly too.
The products vary from the cheesy dildos and big fruity colored vibrators you'd expect in an adult goods store to some pretty cool and luxurious stuff. They have every type of vibrator you could want in lots of colors and the Lelo models were among the most modern and elegant I've ever seen. I also didn't know there were that many types of lubes, oils and fisting grease in existence till I saw them all in one spot. They also seem to carry every type of condom Trojan makes and theres A LOT of different ones.
Overall this is a great place for men or women or couples to visit for novelty's sake or for serious shopping especially if you have hesitations about going into an actual shop instead of internet shopping. The guy at the register is so cordial and knowledgeable about the products that you won't feel weird asking about something you think is really strange or outrageous. -

I have nicknamed The Pleasure Chest and that nickname is "The Wonderful World of Dildos." Wow, there's a whole wall of them! Any shape, size, color, and intensity that you could ever want.
I like this shop because it also has some "classy" things. Candles, "kits" for couples, cute lingerie, bachelorette paraphernalia. The staff was very nice and prices were reasonable (I guess the prices were reasonable...I don't really comparison shop when I'm buying this type of stuff.) -

I stopped in here with a friend and I wasn't planning on buying anything. We walked around looking at every thing and then approached the counter with all her questions. The associate was totally cool walking around with us to answer questions, and she actually ran back and forth without needing to (which was great sales work!) She answered every single question and even gave other pertinent info - such as which ones come with a warranty and/or a safety switch to keep anything from turning on while not in use. My friend was completely satisfied and went to the counter with her purchases. Just as she was about to walk out of the store, I turned around and grabbed the same thing - I was totally sold on it as well and I wasn't even there for anything! =)
This place is totally classy and clean. I felt like not a single, scuzzy person had stepped foot in there. I will definitely go back and will recommend this place!! -

If you're looking for something naughty or nice or just plain ridiculous, this is the place to go. Large and well organized without the weird seedy looking types lurking in dark corners reading the backs of porn DVDs, it makes for a non-intimidating environment to buy a personal appliance or two as well as some crazy shit for a bachelorette party.
And they have a pretty wide selection of edible items in scandalous shapes, which I recently discovered on my trek to outfit my "sex and candy" costume for a theme party.Listed in: I Heart My Neighborhood

There's an interactive sex toy display, what more could you ask for? Workshops on how to use them properly? They have those too!
Paddles with pricklies turn you on? How about a vibrator attachment for your iPod? Yes! They have all these things and more! They're open until 12am, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable but not creepy and leering, and they have a great selection of all things kinky.

You can tell I have a new boyfriend b/c my reviews are all dates and adult toy stores. Am I a braggart? Eh, maybe. Whatever.
This experience is probably what makes the Yelp world go round. My valentine and I picked this store partly b/c of the Yelp Valentine's freebie if you mention the little ad on their listing. I mentioned. I received freebie. All around happiness... but onto the store review.
While I love Tulip and all, this store is bigger and has a wider selection of items. Need gloves with prickly nail thingies in them for personal (or perhaps professional handshaking) purposes? They have 'em (they're like the meaner version of a hand buzzer thing). Need a book all about giant penises? They have that and the one with boobs. They have all sorts of toys, you can play with the little demsonstration models, and they have a hilarious selection of porn dvd's including vintage ones and the mildly disturbing Anime variety. Who really gets off on that? Do not answer.
Pleasure Chest also has gag gifts and bachelor/bachelorette goodies, funny games, and sexy Mad Libs. Ok, I make all my Mad Libs dirty, but some people need some help. The staff was friendly despite being busy, and they have a parking lot. What's not to like? -

After seeing everything this store had to offer, I kind of regretted that I was not in there shopping for myself. Oh, Bachelorette parties and the woes of having to pick out erotic garments for my best friend, so SHE can have fun prancing around in lacy erotic get-ups, wielding sex toys and sex coupons.
In other words, I spent entirely way too much money in this store, in the effort to live vicariously through my gift purchases.
To be honest though, I was disappointed in their slim selection of lingerie. Most of which seem cheap, with crooked buttons and ugly little red roses. But whatever they lack in lingerie, they make up for in sex toys. Want a sex chair? Oh yeah, they have it, built and on display on their sales floor. Their other, more mild and less freakishly outlandish sex toys are neatly on display in the middle of the store.
This was the first store of this nature, that I ever left with the intention of eventually coming back. Which surprised me a little. The interior was decorated tastefully, and the display of the merchandise was not tacky or disorderly. I would like to see more of a lingerie selection without the tacky glue-on buttons and tiny red roses. Once that happens, I will change my rating and give them five stars. -

This store manages to be sexy but not sleazy, which is quite an accomplishment, considering what they're selling. The whole place has a hip, boutique feel, which should help first-time sex store visitors feel a little less intimidated. The staff is friendly and VERY knowledgeable, so you shouldn't feel shy asking where the nipple clamps are or what kind of lube they recommend.
Their selection of vibrators is amazing..... honestly, you're only going to have more choices if you shop on-line. There's tons of bachelorette party supplies, some of which are totally hilarious (I can't wait to throw my next bachelorette party!). They also stock a reasonable amount of porn (though they didn't have 'Bella Loves Jenna', which was a little disappointing), a lot of it very woman-friendly (you know, Candida Royalle and etc.). The lingerie assortment leaves a little to be desired, but that's the only minus I can think of.

Something about the combination of extraordinarily friendly and experienced employees and ambiance really make this place one of the most non-threatening sex shops around. The P.C. might be comfortable for a "beginner" but you can tell they do a lot of business with recurring customers because they stock anything and everything you can think of.
We stumbled upon this place looking for a gift for a bachelorette and ended up staying for a 2-hour sex 101 workshop, and leaving with a bunch of goodies for the bachelorette, and ourselves! -

This is one of the most respectful adult products stores for both women and men I have ever seen. The shop keepers are extremely nice and the store is always immaculately clean. It's a place you can take your prude friends who are afraid it might be icky and they'll be pleasantly surprised they had a nice experience when they leave.

I came in looking for something specific & asked the salesclerk to show it to me... she showed me the wrong variety of what I was looking for. They didn't even have what I was looking for, so she recommended another kind, which she then spent ten minutes looking for only to tell me they were out of those, too. All this, after waiting five minutes before anyone helped me - the sales girl was helping some guy and the two sales guys were talking amongst themselves in the back about anime and totally ignored me.

I attended one of their free sessions ...The presenter was very good, funny and the staff at the pleasuer chest was very helpful...Checked out their products and there's some very interesting stuff and reasonably priced.. It's a very clean place and you dont feel like you are at one of those trucker stops like the ones downtown.

My favorite sex store!!!!! This is one of the classier sex novelty shops. The staff is super friendly and are always willing and ready to answer any questions you may have. They have a way of making you feel very comfortable. They have every type of toy you can imagine. Definitely worth the trip if you're sex life is going downhill or just want to add some spice.

So it's dildos you need? Man, this is the place for you. Some might criticize my parents for allowing me to group up around the corner from the Pleasure Chest, which stocks every imaginable sex toy on the face of the earth, but I prefer to believe they were simply teaching me tolerance. The Pleasure Chest has every kind of sexual device/appliance you could think of, so if your love life is getting boring it's definitely worth a visit. It also has a huge supply of condom varieties and plenty of porn. And it's funny, you're more likely to see a 50 year-old couple from Naperville in there then some punk off the street. Sometimes it's the ones you'd least expect!

Love the store, love the staff. I always feel very comfortable here. The decor is classy, the merchandise is well laid out, and the staff are incredibly helpful when you ask for anything. They don't come up to you at all unless you ask for something (which is important, since many people are so uneasy about visiting sex shops), but once you do ask, they're responsive, helpful and very professional, while also making me feel a bit like I'm talking to a girlfriend.

I only got a chance to be in here for a little while, but I must say this is one of the better shops in the area in general. The staff greeted us, but since it was close to closing time we didn't really interact with them. They appear to have a good selection of toys, but maybe not so much for bondage/fetish/BDSM from what I could see. I also didn't notice much in the apparel selection. I liked that they had many "display" toys for you to "handle". I checked their website & that is also one of the better ones of its kind. Pretty good selection of everything online with decent prices, so I may order from their website before I get a chance to visit the store again.
