This business is located in a somewhat industrial area of the South Meadows and has plentiful parking.  I have taken my children here for both playtime and for the drop in playcare services and have been very happy with the friendly employees and the cleanliness of the facility.

The Playroom has a large climbing structure, a smaller climbing structure, a bounce house, a playhouse, a dress up area, a climbing wall, and an infant play area.  You can either play with the kids in the play area or relax in the seating area (which is right near the play area so you can see your child the entire time) where food and beverages are allowed.

I have utilized the drop in playcare on numerous occasions-it has literally been a life saver for me on days where I get called in to work for a couple of hours or need to run an errand that is soooo much easier to complete without small children hanging on my legs.  The playcare is constantly supervised, the kids get a snack/drink, and they usually do a craft or an art project.

I'm happy to see that this business has hung in there with some of the other kiddie play places in this area folding (i.e. Jump n Play, Bouncing Around Indoor)!

We stopped by here for RenoMomsLikeMe's play date.  My son is eight months old, and we hung out at the infant section.  I was considering this place for my son's first birthday but I am glad that I have visited it first.

PROS:

~Clean.

~Has a good variety of toys and activities for kids.

~Drop off play care and parent's night out may come handy someday.

~Friendly staff.

CONS:

~It is difficult to find.  You have to go through the dragonflies boutique to access the facility.  Their signage is not prominent.

~It was much smaller than what I have expected.  The place got crowded real quick,

~ There should be a sign at the infant section.  "Infants only, please."  There was an unsupervised toddler that mingled with us.  All of the sudden, he bit one of the babies.

~They should have a hand sanitizer mounted on a wall.

It was nice to meet other moms and my son was able to play with other babies.  My son would probably enjoy it more when he gets older.

I took Kid to this indoor play area yesterday to burn off some steam and was very pleased to find this place!  The playroom is just what it sounds like--an indoor playground.  They have one large climbing gym, a bounce house, a little rock-climbing wall, a playhouse, and plenty of other toys and dress-up clothes for the kids to go wild with.  The facility is very clean and well-maintained and is a great place to take your little ones when the weather is bad.  There is also an infant area, with manipulatives for crawlers to amuse themselves with, and a snack area with tables and massage chairs for the parents (nice touch!).  Normally, it is $8 for admission, which I think is a bit steep, but they are open late on Thursdays and only charge $5 after 4:30, which is just about what I was willing to pay.

I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for something to do with your toddler.  They have a party room to reserve for birthdays and a boutique kids' shop in the lobby.  Plus, they offer different classes throughout the week if you want to shell out some more cash.  I deducted one star because of the cost, and also because they could really use some stools or cushions or something for parents in the play area.  My knees were shot after a couple of hours of kneeling up and down on the very hard floor.

I  have taken my children to The Playroom several times. They always have a great time and the people are very friendly. The bounce house is great, the climbing wall is fabulous and all my kids love to dress up.  It is so fun and great for a windy, rainy or snowy day. Even in the scorching heat it would be a good way to ge the kids out of the house.

History

Established in 2006

The Playroom is mommy owned and operated by Mignon Lagatta and Tracy Squier Ceragioli.

We have been friends since attending high school together in Carson City. We briefly attended college together then each pursued different goals. Mignon graduated from college and entered immediately into the business world where she has enjoyed a long and successful career in the footwear industry. Tracy graduated college then went on to graduate school earning her Master's in Social Work. She has run a counseling agency, worked as a psychotherapist and done corporate training.

When Mignon moved back to Reno, she discovered that there wasn't a place that offered open play every day and she set about researching what it would take to open one. Tracy was still in California, staying at home with her newborn son. Mignon began to discuss the idea with Tracy who agreed it was a great idea. Tracy and her husband decided to make the move to Reno to open this business and The Playroom was born.
