Make a reservation and ask for a table by the window!

This spot is a gem ... really great views and a wonderful setting. The services was perfect. Our waiter was really attentive and friendly. Our food was wonderful. All in all, it was a great evening.
I would recommend this place to any adult group looking for a fancy night out. Make a reservation and ask for a table by the window to enjoy the view. All the tables have some view, but the sunset from the window tables is amazing.
The attire is on the dressy side, though golf casual seemed to fit in fine as well.
My only negative was the manager (or who I assume was the manager). He is probably a really nice guy, but I tried to speak to him when we came in and he ignored me (he heard me, but just didnt acknowledge me .. it was strange). He seemed like he was having a bad day. It wasn't a good first impression and actually made my husband want to leave. I am glad we stayed, but hope he is having a better day next time we are there.

Fish! Pretty good food, though nothing to write home about. Given all of the restaurants on the island, I would not recommend this one.  They make ahuge deal out of the view, and it is pretty. But remember that pretty much everywhere you go will have a great view. The view at the Plantation House is really more of the golf course than anything else, and given I am not a big golfer, I was a bit bored.  Service at the restaurant was average at best. The guy was friendly but just disappeared too often. And since the prices were not exactly cheap, I would not say the place was a good value for money.

I have reviews of Ritz Carlton Club, Honolua Store, Mama's Fish House, Hula Grill and other Maui locations if you would like to cross-check my reviews to calibrate against your tastes.

As the pleasant early evening breeze blows through the open dining area, birds sometimes make their way through the room as you peruse the menu. Overlooking a gorgeous golf course and subject to some of the most awe-inspiring sunsets on the island, Maui's Plantation House is as good as it gets.

The food is consistent, fresh, and delicious. Great steaks, innovative fish dishes, and a menu that has something for everyone, the P-house is perfect for those nights when your party just can't decide where to go. ((Bread is darn good, too)) Last time I was here, I had a salad of mixed baby greens, candied pecans, watermelon, and a sesame-ginger vinaigrette that really changed the way I look at salads. It was absolutely phenomenal.

Always my favorite place to eat, I always save it for my last night on the island. This is because it is so perfect that I can rely on it to send me on my way with nothing but a good feeling and a happy tummy. Mahalo to all the folks at the Plantation House. Their dedication to perfection comes through in a fabulous meal, everytime.

This was one great eating experience, loved the setting, and the food and the service. I've had the pleasure to eat at some great places, and this is one of them. We ate when it was fairly late, and not many people. I don't remember the waitress, but she was great. The Fish was awesome and can be fixed in 5 ways, I think we had Spanish Style!.

I'll be back

This place is a disaster from beginning to end.  Staffing is pitiful and food worse, with a manager who can't make apologies or amends.
Beautiful setting, reasonable menu, food quality poor.

4 dinners not served together.  One person did not receive a steak knife with the meal.  He asked for a sharp knife and the surly reply was, "i only have two hands!" One steak combination with asparagus and stuffed prawns included a large wad of plastic wrap entwined with the asparagus.  This is where the manager was summoned.  He tried to remove the plastic wrap up with chop sticks and failing, the guest picked it up and placed it on the bread plate.  The manager said he would "take care of it" and left.
Two 'medium' racks of lamb were cold and bloody inside. They went back for more cooking.
At the conclusion of the meal the bill was presented with no apology and no deduction for the plastic wrap as the manager had iindicated.
We would never want to go back for such treatment and poor food.

Disappointed with our dinner here.  The food was mediocre at best and expensive.  One of us ordered bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer and the bacon was flabby and barely cooked.  Ick..  Our server was friendly but not totally competent - there were long waits for our different courses and he should have noticed that most of the food was left on our plates and inquired if something was wrong.

The view at sunset is nice but doesn't make up for the middling food and service.  I've read that breakfast is better but I would rather eat at Mala Ocean Tavern.  Not returning.

OK I am being generous because I just back from Maui and am not back in LA mode yet :)

Food is mediocre (had lunch there). We had the chicken sandwich, which was OK but not as tasty as I imagined it would be. The fries were perfectly done, though. BF had the Ahi Tuna Melt, which was good but it just wasn't extraordinary.

What WAS awesome was the VIEW you get while eating. It is absolutely killer. You can view the golf course, the ocean, the mountains. And they sit you right next to the three open french-ish doors. It is stunning and worth the visit! Oh, and PS there are birds flying in and out of the restaurant, hope you don't mind.

We had a kid-free night away during our Maui vacation and went to the Plantation house for dinner.
Tony was helpful with reservation changes and when we arrived we had a table right on the edge of the restaurant overlooking the grounds and with a spectacular view of the ocean.

The wine list looked good and prices were reasonable for the location (expected markup for a restaurant and being in HI).    I had a martini made with Pua vodka (from pineapples)  - it tasted great and it seems strange that I hadn't found this vodka available at other restaurants on the island.

Food was excellent.  I had the sashimi "mediterranean style" which was with lemon oil, salt, and arugula ; outstanding flavors and combination.
For a salad I had the panko crusted goat cheese and they use local greens, tomatoes and onions.  Very good salad that was just the right size for a pre dinner salad.

I finished with the asparagus side -also locally grown and perfectly cooked.

Mrs M. had the cheese plate and let me have a few bites.  The pairing of stilton with honey and a little salt was delicious.  She then had the Scallops which were wrapped in bacon and that means the dish couldn't have been better.

My wife and I went to Maui for the first time, and being the golf nut that I am, wanted to see the Plantation course at Kapalua.  We went to the Plantation House on the recommendation of a local, so expectations were high, and i was not disappointed.
The location is just amazing - we got a table right next to the 18th fairway, and watched golfers tee off and then hit approach shots.  It was obviously not like I was watching Tiger and Phil, but it was still pretty cool.
The food was good, not great - I had the chicken pineapple sandwich, and it would rate a 7.5/10.  My wife had an omelette, and it was just ok.  The service is quick and the waiters are real nice.  Wonderful way to spend the morning and load up before heading out for a late morning round of golf.

The golf course is simply amazing, and I played from the tips, so deserve the ass-kicking I got (separate review in golf section).

4 stars to the Plantation House, 5 stars to the golf course, ZERO stars to the racist asshole (older guy with silver white hair) in the pro shop.

I ate dinner here after I had my wedding at the Ironwoods Beach in Kapalua. The views are gorgeous, and the location just screams exclusivity.

We ate there a couple of days after the Mercedes Benz golf tournament ended, so the views of the golf course were pristine.

It was a great encore to our wedding ceremony. The meals were awesome and the dessert was to die for.

AMAZING!!

This place has it all -- great food, great wine, great service and an amazing view.  Our waiter was so gracious and friendly.  The wine (suggestion by the waiter) was tasty.  The food was unreal!  I had the Ono and my husband had the Opah.  Very fresh fish and great meal.

The view is gorgeous as well.  We were there at sunset and it was magical.

It's quite expensive, but worth it!!

As many others before me have mentioned, the breakfast/brunch here is not very good. Neither is the coffee. I mean, really, learn how to make a latte.

The service was actually really bad too. Nice, but really slow and kept forgetting things we had ordered. We had to ask multiple times for water, send back one dish that came out wrong and generally just wait for everything.

However, with all that said, the location is amazing and the views of the golf course/landscape is breathtaking. Come here for lunch or dinner, which I did last time, and enjoyed the food much more.

Upon my arrival to Maui I was constantly hearing the praises and raves of eating at The Plantation House, I tend to brace myself when something just sounds to hyped up.

However as soon as I set foot in the restaurant I smirked and knew. The waiter lit up with glee and greeted me in Tagalog since I was sporting my "Filipino - Maui Built" shirt, kudos to that fella. The view offered thru the panoramic windows were of Kapalua golf course, lust greens and the pacific ocean ahead...absolutely stunning.

The starter for breakfast was a Pineapple Plate of Maui Gold pineapples with a cinnamon sour cream sauce. (Guilty as charged I have now stole this recipe for my repertoire :) It was sweet, tangy and completely addicting. Thereafter I had the Crab Cake Benedict. *sigh* By far the best crab cake I have had the pleasure of having. Crisp, comforting and bold with the silky red pepper hollandaise .

Yes, I must admit that I am now part of the sample that will praise and rave for The Plantation House...Mmm Hmmm

We went there for breakfast on a recommendation from a friend.  On the drive up - we worried that we would be getting ourselves into an expensive breakfast as it was beautiful and right on the golf course.

The service was impeccable - the view was gorgeous - the food was so quick and tasty!  One of the best breakfast that I've had - ever!  And it was reasonable!

It is definitely worth the drive - I want to come back to play golf and have dinner there!

I've been there twice this trip and I must say this place is pretty darn good.

The first time I was there the food was a lil cold however it everything was made up the second run.

Im not sure where to start, I went for the Rancher's breakfast first time around which included the four sucelent slices of  portugeuse sausage, two eggs which were a tad underwhelming, and two pieces of bread, i decided to treat myself and get the potatoes on the side (worked well with the ketchup).

To get to the thick of things, the food was a tad cold but still got the job done.

This morning was a whole different ball game, I opted for the Jersey omelette which was complimented by another side of potatoes, this run it was warmer and no qualms.

The view is great and the food is something that makes any mainlander coming back for more.

I'm giving this one 4 outta 5 stars, check it!

Just ducked in for a quick bite after our round on the Plantation Course.  Good selection of beers on tap, we had a round of the Kona Bikini Blonde.  I had the seared ahi salad and it was very good.  Certainly some of the best ahi I had on this trip.  My wife had the mediterranean  salad which was good, except for the cucumber raita, which she was told could not be put on the side even though it came smothered on the top.  It was thick like mayo not like a raita.  Not good.

The views are spectacular and the food is solid.  Also liked that we were able to choose from the breakfast menu even though we were there during lunch hours.

I was introduced to this establishment the first time I went to Maui. And now, every time I go back to Maui, breakfast at the Plantation House is a must-do.

The Plantation House Restaurant is situated on the beautiful green slopes of Kapalua, in the middle of a world-class golf course. The views of the ocean from here are amazing, and the open style of the architecture encourages full enjoyment of the stunning vistas as well as the gentle breezes.

My favorite breakfast, and quite honestly the only one I've ever ordered here (why mess with perfection?), is the crabcakes eggs benedict. And, I always have to order the pineapple plate as well. Their incredibly fresh pineapple is accompanied by a delicious sauce--a mixture of brown sugar and sour cream, I believe. Whatever it is, it's addicting.

Although I've never been here for any meal other than breakfast, I can only imagine it would also be an incredible spot for dinner. I'm sure the sunset from here is stunning.

The wife took me here for my birthday.  When we got there they already knew what day it was, and the staff greeted me as though I was someone important, which was nice.
We tried a little bit of everything on the menu, and it was all good.  We started out with the Chef's Cheese Plate.  It had so many good cheeses I can't even remember them all.  Most of them just melted in our mouths!
Then we went for the Maui Arugula Salad.  All the ingredients were very fresh.  Our waiter even told us that he hand picked the Arugula himself that morning!
I wasn't in the mood for fish so my entree was the Oven-seared Filet Mignon with scalloped potatoes.  The filet was cooked perfectly to my medium well request, and it was very tender and very flavorful.  My wife was in the mood for fish, so she had the pistachio-crusted A Taste of Maui.  She enjoyed it very much.
We were too full for desert after all that food, so we took our Da Kine Brownie (on the house for my birthday) back to the room and had it the next night.  It was great to have a treat like that to go to and to feel like my birthday was going on and on!
And besides the food The Plantation House has a great atmosphere.  It's on top of a hill overlooking Molokai, and you can see the best sunsets from there.  We highly recommend it, whatever the occasion!
But I'm not finished.  The Plantation House has THE best Pina Coladas you will ever have!  We had to tell our waiter to compliment the bartender.  He told us that they're so good and unique because they put Kahlua and Bailey's in them.  I'm serious, you will never taste a better Colada!

Great food, but portions were small. My chicken dish was $27 which is high for a small chicken breast. The restaurant is definitely known for fish so those wanting a nice fish dinner will not be disappointed. Finally, if you can, try to go there for the sunset -- the views are spectacular! However, it may require making reservations weeks in advance.

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in the area. This restaurant is right on the golf course and you have a fantastic view. You can get some great pictures from this spot.

This breakfast spot is very cheap compared to some of the places on Kaanapali Beach  (one of the places is $30 a person but that is for a later review).  They specialize in egg benedict - there are several different kinds but if you ask they will let you try 2 different kinds with your order. My favorite benedict is the crab cakes.

This is one of the nicer restaurants here so dress accordingly (even if you are just coming for breakfast).  The staff here is extremely friendly and always welcoming.

Remember - if you have a larger group tip is already included in your bill!

Went here for a rehearsal wedding brunch, and although the view is beautiful (the restaurant overlooks a golf course and the ocean), the food was average.  Nothing to complain about, mind you, but nothing to rave about either.  I had the eggs benedict, which tasted like every other eggs benedict I've ever had, and I was told the banana sweet bread french toast was alright as well.  Seems like there are much better places in Maui for breakfast that are probably less expensive.

We only ate breakfast here one day, but it was fantastic. Nice views overlooking golf-course all the way out to the ocean. There definitely is a bit of a bird problem as they land on tables all over the place --- but this is common in Maui altogether. The prices were surprisingly cheaper than any other breakfast we had in Maui (bear in mind we ate at the Ritz 2x and Gazebo charges a lot for all the add-ons: juice, sausage, etc.). The wait staff was adequate, nothing spectacular. Food was delicious and there were some unique and interesting eggs benedict choices. I had the lox benedict w/ capers and was very satisfied with it and my wife had the cajun benedict which she loved as well. We also liked that you could get fresh tomatoes on the side instead of potatoes if you wanted. Will definitely be back if we stay that far north again!

Just left Maui and Plantation House breakfast is as good as ever.  Wife asked for eggs benedict, but with portuguese sausage instead of ham.  Waitress said: "no problem, we always say yes."  Pretty nice, but not a surprise.  Service is always good and friendly.  And -- eggs benedict with portuguese sausage is darn good.  Don't forget the fresh fresh fresh papaya.  Enjoy.

The Plantation House has some of the best views and is a perfect place to watch the sunset.  If eating dinner here plan around the sunset and you won't be disappointed.

The dinner menus is pretty typical for Maui and the food has always been good but not spectacular.  The drinks are always good and they have a good wine list.

Breakfast is reasonably priced and was also pretty good and there is never a crowd so a perfect place for a relaxing breakfast with a beautiful view.  There are better places for breakfast but you'll have to wait.

Overall I like this place, love the location, and think the food and service pretty good.  I think Lahaina Grill has much better food but certainly not the amazing views of the Plantation House.

My husband and I had dinner here while visiting Maui.  The food was pretty good (although pricey) but the service was horrible!

The waiter never did tell us the specials (we overheard him tell the table next to us), after confirming three times that my husband wanted scallops and not shrimpt the dish came out with shrimp, the waiter came over before we ordered and said "do you want me to do anytihng?"  we were like "Yeah, can we order?"  It was very weird.  Also, the waiter said he'd make up the mistake with my husbands dish by bringing us a free dessert.  We didn't get to pick it and he brought us a completely melted vanilla sundae.  It was disgusting.

Pretty view but lots of places on Maui have amazing views.  Skip this place and save your money.

I've been going to Maui for 30 years as my sister lives out there. The Plantation house has quickly become a family favorite. Considering the phenomenal views, great open air seating, solid breakfast and lunch, and prices there really is nothing to complain about here. The omelets and eggs Benedict dishes are great. The burgers and fries are terrific.

Considering the ambiance and food and what other places half as good charge, we always come away thinking this place is such a bargain.

The Plantation House is now my favorite restaurant in Maui.  Our waiter was wonderful, attentive and made great recommendations.  The food was delicious.  We tried two styles, Up-Country Maui and Fish Special.  The Fish Special had the most amazing sauce, which was outstanding with the spinach, mushrooms and Maui onions.  The Up-Country Maui had the perfect macadamia crust.  Both were wonderful.

The best part of the meal (besides the company, of course!) was the view.  From the golf course view over-looking the 18th hole to the view of the water & island, it's breath-taking.  I would highly recommend going during the sunset (get there about 5:30 for the best tables).  The view from the tables is gorgeous and after the sun goes down, the after-glow with all the colors is amazing.  Will definitely be coming back here to eat the next time I'm in Maui.  A hidden-gem and a great place to enjoy the evening!

We went here on the recommendation of the concierge at the Westin...

I'm guessing she hasn't eaten here in a while!

While the views were AMAZING - I mean absolutely incredible - the food was just, at best, mediocre.

We went for breakfast and we were literally the only people in the restaurant for a good 45 minutes. Our waitress was cordial, but seemed to be lacking a personality (that, or our jokes were really lost on her...).

I ordered the Moloki sweet bread french toast with bananas and the BF had the cajun sashami Ahi eggs benedict. Both of our dishes were barely warm - which doesn't make sense considering we were the only people in the whole place. The flavor of the french toast was very good, but would have been better if it were hot. I was surprised that they charged an extra dollar for a few extra pieces of sliced banana on top - bananas grow like weeds in Hawaii...

The BF's cajun sashami ahi benedict was also tasty, but served cold really took away from the taste.

I didn't mind paying extra for the amazing view, but I would have preferred if exceptional food went along with the price and the view!

The good: the view.
The bad: everything else.

We have recently pretty much given up on The Plantation House even though we have been coming here since they opened and it used to be everyone in our groups favorite spot on the north end ... a shame really, but I guess that is what happens at tourist resorts when the menu stays the same and the quality of the food and service steadily decline.  Many better spots around the Kapalua resort.

Just the drive up is beautiful. You turn on to a private road that leads to the clubhouse at the top of the hill. You are surrounded my rolling hills on one side, the ocean on the other.  The restaurant is quietly seated at the top of the Kapalua Clubhouse and has breathtaking views. We arrived right before the evening and were treated to a great view of the golf course and the water beyond.  Soon after it became dark and you couldn't enjoy much except for the soft tradewinds that came in through the windows.

We had the seared scallops, the papio prepared Upcountry Maui-style, and the Da Kine brownies.  The food was tasty and rich.  They are known for their fish preparation, so I would not steer too far from seafood.

My only gripe was with the service. I couldn't tell if he was laid back or just inattentive. It took forever before he introduced himself and we literally didn't see him for long intervals between service.  My husband settled (at the time) for the seared scallops because our waiter had to check to see if the lamb shank was still being offered. We were so hungry we didn't want him to go away without getting our order in.

So, lovely place, but just hope you don't get our server.

This place is amazing, but it's pricey.  I've been here several times and I enjoy it each time.  The Da Kine Brownie is a gooey orgasm of chocolatey goodness that must be enjoyed each time on the island.  The view of the course and of Molokai are also top notch.

Even if you don't eat here, I'd recommend going just to see the view and get a cocktail.

I ate here twice during my stay in Kapalua in Dec 2007.  The views are incredible, and the food is also outstanding.  It is not cheap, but this is Kapalua, and you can certainly spend as much many other places and get worse food.

The dress code here is a bit more formal....dig out a collared shirt and some trousers.

So I guess I'll be the first to give them a low rating.

Do not come here for lunch. Not worth it. I ordered the lunch pasta... farfalle pasta with spinach, tomato, and garlic with grilled mahi mahi.

I never salt my food, but this time I had to salt it three times and it was still bland.

Guava juice was like diluted Kerns nectar.

From the beginning, the experience was just mediocre. We walked in, and didn't receive a proper greeting or even a smile. They sat us down and it took 10 minutes for them to ask for drinks and the restaurant was empty. The waitress came to our table once and asked us how the food was. I was honest and told her the food was incredibly bland. She responded with "I'll let the chef know." And that was it.

Other than the food, the view was great. But i went to the restaurant for good food, not for a good view.

Overall, very disappointed. Perhaps dinner is a different story, but unfortunately, I don't think I'll be coming back for dinner after this experience.

(synthesizer & bass guitar porn soundtrack) Bow-chicka-bow-wow...

...that's the sound of sexy-time music playing, because we had our honeymoon on Maui, and had a hopelessly romantic meal at this restaurant while contemplating our night...

Bow-chicka-bow-wow...

...we fed each other luscious bites of sensational tenderloin...

Bow-wow-chicka-chicka...

...however the food was so incredibly delicious, we ate beyond what normal people should eat, then went back to the hotel...

...and passed out into a food coma as soon as our heads hit the pillow...

(Debbie Downer trombone) Wah-waaaaah...

Although, have not been since last Sept...I have been there several times. (Every time I go to HI) Been only for Breakfast.
MAH-Vuh-lus VIEW!!! AMAZING!!!
All variations of Egg Benes...dele-xxx-able. Pancakes with their special syrup will make your tongue slap your brain.
Never had a problem at breakfast time service, even when hosting 23 people the day after a wedding.

This was one of those recommendations from the hotel that we ventured to try...sooooo loved it!!  We went for dinner around 7:30 and I recommend that if you haven't been here, go BEFORE the sun sets so you can soak in the beauty of the view.  The Plantation House overlooks the Plantation Golf Course (Tiger Wood's locker is in the men's locker room downstairs...my boyfriend took a peek!) and has breathtaking views of the ocean and of Molokai in the distance.  So cool.  And the homes as you drive up to the restaurant are awe-inspiring...apparently Kapalua is where the rich and famous have homes...including Madonna.

I had a fish that I can't remember the name of to save my life...Pap I believe...not sure On the spelling.  Very few places have it and it's indigenous to Hawaii.  Light and flaky white fish like a mahi mahi type.  SOOO good.  My boyfriend had the lamb shank and the meat just fell off the bone.  Service was impeccable and no one laughed at us as we tried to photograph the numerous geckos walking on the ceiling outside!  The restaurant it open air and the ocean breeze is great...quite romantic as well and reasonably priced for a high-end joint.

We went back the next morning to see the view we missed the previous night...and we weren't let down!!  Breakfast was JUST as wonderful as dinner and I HIGHLY recommend the Ahi Eggs Benedict.  OH WOOOOOW.

This place I will definitely visit again on my next trip.

One of my hands down favorite places to eat when in Maui!  We have eaten here for breakfast (minus the hubby who is playing a round of golf at the course the restaurant overlooks), lunch and dinner.  Since we go to Maui quite often, we always end up eating here with the rest of our vacationing group.  My mother's favorite dessert here is the Bananas Foster ~ flambed bananas ~ which she orders all the time.

Yes, it can be pricey (what place isn't in the Hawaiian Islands unless you eat at a fast food place?) but worth every dollar.  We have had good service each time whether it was just my kids and I (3) or a whole group load of folks.  The quality of the food we have experienced for breakfast, lunch and dinner have been excellent!

Ask for a table with an ocean view for breakfast and lunch.  If you arrive just before sundown, do the same otherwise when it's dark, it makes no difference where you sit.  Attire ranges from casual to dressy ~ let's remember we are in Hawaii ~ but don't be a slob, ok folks?  This place is good for all ~ singles, couples, families with kids and seniors.

had the tuna melt, not bad but not great.  Its pretty heavy though.
I had the kola greens and I didn't know it was just a piece of lettuce and a bunch of dressing.   I should have asked what it was.  should have went with the fries but I thought, kola sounded Hawaiian.  oh well.
the restaurant itself is really nice.  Open air and a relaxing feel.  Not worth the prices in my opinion but perhaps I just came on a off day for lunch.

My husband and I held our wedding reception dinner here in October and everything was absolutely wonderful.  We worked with Amber, the events coordinator and she bent over backwards to help make our reception spectacular.   We arranged for our guests to have appetizers and cocktails on the lower lawn while we were having beach pictures taken.  Later, our guests raved about the sunset, food quality and service they received   Once arriving, we had a simple dance with our parents and each other on the lower lawn area and used a powered Ipod with our songs pre-loaded.  With the sun setting and all of our family and friends around it was perfect.

Our dinner was held on the lanai and Amber did a great job making sure everything looked perfect.  We had ordered the flower arrangements thru her and she also arranged for the table to be set with ribbons,a table runner, and our wedding favors that we brought from home.   We ended up sitting 30 people in the lanai and 8 additional people in the main restaurant which worked out perfect due to the open feeling of the lanai, we could see everyone.  Food was great and service was wonderful.

We were initially leery about holding our dinner here especially after reading some bad reviews on several websites.  Everything went off without a hitch for us and Amber was exceptional.  We plan on coming back to the Plantation House whenever we're in Maui!
