My previous post was deleted because I, annoyed that a place I frequent for pet supplies was being subject to an organized attack, mocked some of the fake negative reviews for this place. It not fair to review a place based on personal agenda--remember these are hard economic times, and it shows no class to disparage local businesses.
I come here fairly frequently because I like the location and the service. If I have questions there is always someone around who can answer them, and if I'm in a hurry, I can usually get in and out of there in a couple minutes. Never have I had to wait for employees to help me, never have I seen a sick or dying puppy there, and my dog has never shown any dislike for the food.

Initially, I thought The Pet Spot would be a great place to buy a dog, snacks or other doggie essentials because of their McDonald's-like comment after each transaction, "Would you like a dog with that?"
BUT.....
1. Both my dogs wouldn't touch a single treat that I purchased for them (& my dogs are dog-snack fanatics. They would eat literally anything & everything, except for lettuce & apparently, the snacks that I bought from here.) I don't remember the exact brand it was, I just remember it was about $6 for a tiny bag, dog-boned shape & locally made. Next time, I'm just gonna get my Greenies at Walmart.
2. My friend & I came here yesterday specifically to buy a puppy that she's been eying on for the past couple of days. I noticed that the other puppy pooed (the dachshund-chihuahua mix) on her own blanket & instantly rolled all over on it. All the worker did was use a wet-wipe to slightly wipe the puppy down. Because I felt sorry for this puppy, I asked to see it & properly wiped her more thoroughly myself. This poor little puppy still reeked of poo. Based on what I saw, it seems like The Pet Spot does not really take care of their puppies very well. I wonder if people were not directly watching the worker, if that worker would have even taken the time to wipe the puppy down??? The Humane Society takes better care of their dogs than The Pet Spot.
3. All the pug puppies (3 of them) were sick. Totally not a good sign, Pet Spot.

Have you seen their latest deal... $100 off a puppy for the month of may. Just goes to show that they're not really into it for creating the right match between you and your puppy... they just want to sell the puppies.
Please buy from REPUTABLE breeders. Ask to see the paperwork, ask to see the parents, the people here are employees. They have no idea where the dogs are coming from!!!

I was looking at some puppies through the window here and saw one fall from its second "story" cage to the floor. I dashed inside to see if it was OK but couldn't see anything. The employee standing behind the cash register looked as though she couldn't care less. I signaled to my husband outside to come in, and only then did the employee move (very casually, by the way) toward the puppy display at all. By then, the traumatized puppy had dashed between the cages and the wall. Instead of going to get it and check whether it was OK, though, the employee got on her cell phone and blasted another employee for not properly securing the cage door. Umm, priorities?! They barely checked the poor thing before putting it back in its cage, too.
Great location, very convenient. I've been planning to purchase a dog and I go here to look at the oh-so-adorable puppies. The staff have been nice when I ask questions about the different breeds. I have mild allergies so they told me to look at some of the terrier breeds. Still researching before I buy, but this store has been very helpful.
I don't know what some people are complaining about. Pet Spot is a great place and everytime I've been there (which is quite often since I work in the mall) there is always someone there to answer my questions and point me in the right direction. Just because your dog doesn't like his snack doesn't make it a crappy place. Maybe your dog is pickier than you thought? And come on people puppies do sometimes roll around in their own poo. . . I know for a fact that they buy puppies from reputable breeders because they just bought chihuahuas from my friend who takes good care of his dogs. All in all this place is great and they do a good job in representing the local pet community as well as supporting local vendors. I would recommend the Pet Spot to anyone!!
Great location(Ward warehouse), good assortment of pet foods and pet supplies (shampoos, brushes, leashes, clothes and accessories). they also have another location at Pearl Highlands Center (808)455-8500.
Upcoming events included a meeting with Hawaii's very own animal behaviorist Wendy Mah (Sirius) on Saturday June 2 from 11am to 5 pm.
Store employees were friendly and store was neatly organized and items were easy to find.
i love going here and picking up little goodies for my dogs! the puppies on display are worth going...the pups are soo cute, i get tempted!
great selection on dog toys and the treats here are great!
the customer service here is descent...the prices aren't soo bad either!
I stopped in The Pet Spot a few weeks ago and had a very wonderful and positive experience. I found the staff to be very friendly, courteous, and helpful. It's one of the few places in Hawaii where you get the best deals and selection, dollar for dollar, on pet food. I'd recommend The Pet Spot to my friends and family.
i came here just to scope out prices on pet supplies, mainly for natural balance dog food for my extremely allergic pup. the prices were surprisingly decent, since i know stores @ ward hike up the prices because of the rent. service is questionable - i was walking around the store for about 10 minutes with no one asking if i needed assistance so i was wandering aimlessly for a while, but when i brought all of my purchases everyone was friendly enough. overall, an ok experience, so i'll be heading back when my supplies are running low on dog food.
Good location, kinda pricey though. Not too many doggie treats now, very different from when they first opened. Lots of cute puppies, but not really taken care of well. One time I saw a puppy playing with their doo doo and others where their water and food was tipped over so they didn't have anything to drink or eat. I know the point is to sell the dog, but geez, take care of them first.
The staff is very helpful bringing big bags to your car. Parking near the store is not always available. They do have a nice selection of things for exotics. You can pet the rabbits/guinea pigs and see the cute puppies too. nice staff, stamp card available for discounts after it's filled.
