8 reviews for The Pet Set
I use another boarder almost exclusively, but have a friend who watches my dog from time to time and the Pet Set is right by her house so she brings her here.
The Penthouse boarding is great - the dogs get to play around all day and they even have a pet web cam so you can see your pup while you're away. They were very patient with my dog's nervousness the first time she came here. However, it's more expensive than their regular boarding and the other place I use.
I've heard from other customers that sing their praise and have been using them for years. They are a really nice staff, but again, I prefer my other place.
I've never bought anything from their boutique but it seems like they have a ton of items so the selection is there.
I have to sing the praises of Sam at The Pet Set who groomed my long haired, muffin head cat... It's not an easy task! I've never taken my boy to get groomed before, but he got horribly matted this summer, which just deemed itself necessary. I took him to a groomer close by, but due to his ass hole alpha personality, they weren't able to do it. So, I called my vet & asked for recommendations, which is where The Pet Set comes in. They also suggested giving him some tranquilizer beforehand, which I definitely took them up on!
Anyway, about an hour after dropping Ashton off at The Pet Set, I get a call from Sam claiming he needs more tranquilizer in order to work on him. Royally P.O.ed & feeling defeated, I trudge back over & go to the back with Sam to see just how aggressive & hostile A-town had become. Yowza! I don't want their job.
That said, miracles upon miracles happened & somehow, they managed to give Ash the "Lion's Cut," as well as bath him, trim his nails & clean his orifices, all complete with an orange bandanna. Word.
Now, don't get me wrong, this little haircut/grooming session cost more than it does for me to get my hair did, but damn... Can't deny that Sam earned it. Despite the high price tag, the folks here know what they're doing & they're darn good with our furry friends! There's also an assortment of toys, treats, food & litters, most of which are "organic" or environmentally friendly. Definitely take your pet here to get pampered!
Well my pup would have lots of goodies from The Pet Set if only the prices were not so darn high! Seriously! I picked up a plush Christmas toy and it was $19!!! $19? My dog is going to chew out all of the stuffing in 5 minutes flat, and that's not worth 19 bucks to me.
The clothes are super adorable, but I do not think the collars and leashes are of a good variety. I like my pup to have a little bit of a masculine collar, and rainbows and sunshines aren't going to cut it.
Ive got a totally sadistic habit of dressing up my dogs, Im sure they hate it, but Ive convinced myself to the contrary. The Pet set is the PERFECT place for pampering your animal... they seriously have everything to turn your pup into a little Tinkerbell Hilton. But of course it comes at a price... I often walk out of the place wondering why on earth I just spent a hundred bucks on a new leash and a few sweaters for a three pound dog... but you get quality, and above all, flare. They also have a very nice indoor play area/doggy daycare and training facility.
So, this place is great, if you can get over the prices, for scoring some serious 'Ooohs' and 'Awwws' at the park.
This place has everything you need to spoil your pet rotten! And maybe even stuff to torture your pet with extremely cute stuff you would never personally wear!
I am a sucker for chihuahua outfits and this place has helped my pups to be outfitted in the most expensive cutie- pie sweaters that I wouldn't even spend as much on for myself!
Around Halloween they have the cutest costumes for your pups- but get there early as they will run out of small sizes rather fast.
They also offer boarding and grooming and I hear they do a great job with both from friends (my girls stay with their gramma and grampa so I don't know firsthand) but it's definitely worth a look if you are in the area and love to pamper your pooch with toys, treats, and clothes!
Brought our two cats here for a flea dip and mani/pedi. People up front were totally friendly, and there was a great selection of high-end pet toys and food. They also came back smelling great with the softest fur they've ever had. The cat grooming seemed a bit expensive ($65/cat), but I don't really have a frame of reference on this. We'll be back though....
I go here to buy our spoiled cats Innova EVO. Been doing that since the huge pet food scare. If you have cats, I cannot emphasize enough what a big difference something like Innova will have on your cats' coat sheen and general health. While it's more expensive, since there's no crappy filler, the cats actually eat less. It's a really great investment, trust me. They have a lot of cute dog treats, but since I'm a cat person I've not really looked at this carefully. Either way, friendly staff, and really good food without a bunch of filler for your furry kids.
The Pet Set is overrated. Everything is over priced and my dog had a bag experience with the grooming services. The last time I had my dog groomed at this place he came home with an intestinal infection. The symptoms were vomiting and constant diarrhea for multiple days. When I took my dog to the vet they said the most common cause of this is the consumption of dirty water. He had to be prescribed antibiotics and an anti diarrhea medication. I know I'm not giving my dog dirty water, so this really makes me question the cleanliness of the Pet Set. On top of this I noticed every time my dog came home from grooming he was groggy and tired. Now that I take him somewhere else in the area, he comes home happy and energetic. It's really like night and day. I used to think my dog was just spastic and got himself wound up and stressed out over being groomed, but now I question what really went on at the Pet Set since he hasn't acted like this following grooming at the new place. The only positive thing I can say about this place is that its convenient to my home. I feed my dog Nature's Variety and try to buy it at Red Bandanna because the price difference is significant. The Pet Set is good when I'm in a pinch even though it means I'll pay more.
