5 reviews for The Pagoda
The 60's called, they would like their Chinese restaurant back!
I've seen the Pagoda several times while driving through the Hollywood district. The other night I was in the mood for some greasy General Tso's, so we decided to stop in.
The decor is just as over the top as one of the other reviewers put it. All red and gold and vinyl, etc. The food was pretty horrid and the cigarette smoke from the lounge was just bad enough to be annoying. So a star for the food, but plus one star just cuz it is like stepping back in time to an era before Chinese food tried to be "high class".
Great atmosphere! This place is a total throwback to old-school overdone chinese restaurants of the 50s and 60s. You know, the place where you have to cross a fake moat to get in and there's cheezy chinese lanterns and dragons everywhere you look.
Food's just ok, but come for the decor.
I agree atmosphere is totally worth it ~ food not so much.
All the chicken dishes I've had here are really well dowsed with MSG.
Safe to stay with noodle dishes
i honestly belive the pagoda was not made for eating. WARNING!! i love this place beacuase they serve stiff drinks, there's a waterfall and i'll never see anyone i know there. but i would never eat the food... gross.
Skip the food and head straight for the fake red leather cocktail lounge. Unfortunately the drinks aren't quite cheap enough to make it worth coming here often, but it's totally worth doing at least once.
