My favorite thing from here is their hot chocolate with fresh whipped cream! I wish those were free refills because I can seriously just sit there and drink hot chocolates and fill up on them. I love their whipped cream. I know people usually don't go crazy over whipped cream but theirs is so good!!! I made my own at home in attempt to copy theirs. It was almost as good...but theirs is BETTER.
The strawberry waffles are my second favorite thing from here. I have also been to the Yorba Linda location which is just as good. : )
This place gets 4 stars because I had the best waitress I have ever had in my life here. I can't remember her name, but she was awesome and has a special place in my heart!
But onto the restaurant, it's good. There is often a wait on the weekends, which can head upwards of 30 mins, but if you work out the timing of the local Church's getting out, you can often get seated in under 10.
I'm not a huge fan of pancakes, but the scrambles are amazing, especially because I also don't actually like eggs.
this place will see my business about 4 times a year, which considering all the other places around, means it scores high on my list for the weekend brunch.
Oh effff me! whoever thought it was a good idea to cook bacon in a waffle has a sick sick mind... Seriously?!?! ohhhhh man!!! I almost Punched someone eating that Crispy, Soft, Buttery plate of deliciousness, Order a side of sausage, and some eggs and you might as well walk into the kitchen and give the cook dirty looks for preparing you this amazing feast!!
Fresh Orange juice too?!?! not that concentrate stuff either, Im talking about Oranges (the ones that grow in trees) cut in half, and probably thrown in a juicer of some sort, and poured into a glass then served to you, Why are you spoiling meee???
And the bacon slices are super thick too?!! can i just die now?
Oh i will return again...
The Original pancake house has not seen the last of me!
Screw you Original Pancake House and your retarded food. I just wanted to punch someone after leaving, but I could barely move because I was so full from all the deliciousness.
Andy M. and I cannot go anywhere without ordering enough food for 4 people when it's just the two of us.
Bacon waffle, cheese omelet [which comes with a side of 3 pancakes], bacon, and sausage. Now if these were normal sized portions then this wouldn't seem so bad, but they're not!
The bacon waffle is just a stupid as it sounds, chunks of cut up bacon in a crispy on the outside/soft on the inside waffle. Cover that shiz up in butter and syrup and let your inner fat kid smile.
The omelet was oozing with cheese, just how I like anything that comes with cheese, and it wasn't some plastic gross American cheese. You had a choice of aged cheddar or swiss, I opted for the cheddar, and you could actually taste how good the cheese really was. And the pancakes that came with the omelet, these kind of blew me away. As soon as they put down the plate I could smell the yeast, and it was so warm and yummy, but I couldn't figure out exactly what it smelled like until I took a bite. My pancakes tasted like a fucking pretzel. I kid you not, they were so delicious that I actually started to get mad. Fucking pancakes.
Bacon & sausage were both really good too. I like my bacon thick and slightly undercooked, and this was perfect.
Good coffee & fresh squeezed OJ topped off everything.
Service was a bit bland, our waitress brought over our check when we were not even half way through our meal which was weird cause she kept walking by and looking at the check that we hadn't put down cards for yet. Give us a bit, we're trying to enjoy your retarded pancakes. And I had to ask for a coffee refill at the very end of the meal because she eventually had stopped walking by us all together. No water refills either.
I really can't wait to come back though. Just gotta give myself a bit of time before I go into another food coma.
I figured it was gym day anyways so what the heck.. I'd have my Sat breakfast here. Since I absolutely hate the chain breakfast places like IHOP.. I figured this place would be a little bit more interesting? We arrived at 10.30am and we had to wait about 10mins for a table for two. Our server came by right away and got us our coffee. Coffee was OK not as bad as Arthur's or IHOP.
It was hard to commit only to one dish because everything looks so good. I started to get anxiety because we were sitting next to the kitchen door and as every dish came out I wanted to like attack. The smell of the different pancake dishes were intoxicating in a good way. The table next to me had the coconut pancakes and boy could I smell it.. it was so fragrant and nice. I wanted something savory for breakfast but also didn't want to miss out on the pancakes. I had my partner in crime order the banana pancakes and I ordered the omelet that had ham, bacon, bellpeppers, onions, and cheddar cheese.
The Banana Pancakes are the BEST I have ever had! They were fluffy with the perfect amount of bananas. They tasted like banana cakes!
The Omelet was another story. It was came out like a huge blob, the size of half a football. Looked like it was made with 6 eggs! I like my omelet with no color so that the texture is silky and smooth. This had a little too much color and slightly over cooked. This results in a Fritatta type of egg dish rather than an omelet. I managed to only eat about 1/4 of it. This omelet dish also came with a side of 3 buttermilk pancakes. I hardly touched them because I loved the banana ones so much.
We were considering getting some bacon on the side.. but at $4 for 4 slices.. it appeared rather ridiculous to us.
I will definitely like to come back and try their famous Dutch Baby. ... prob not for awhile..
Be prepared for a Huge Carb Overload here.
Yes, I love the Dutch Baby (4 stars). But it's mainly carbs. So to balance the nutritional picture, we usually order an egg white omelette of one kind or another. Have you seen the size of their omelettes? To me, this OPH location does omelettes better than pancakes.
But the 3 stars is due to the service staff being in need of better training. After waiting 45 min to an hour for a table, nothing is more annoying to a customer than to have to wait another 20 minutes to have the order placed - except to see the next table who was seated after receive their food. Staff does not appear to love their job.
This is a sad illustration that while the first OPH location/ experience may have been great, corporate expansion does not always means better.
went. ate pancake. it was good. yum yum.
They put like at least 6 eggs in their omelets so it's better to share unless you're an oinker like me. Most of the stuff is a la carte. I think all the omelets are tastey and I like the corned beef hash. The specialty pancakes are a little pricey but I guess it's cuz they're special? I had the Dutch baby and the apple one both really good. The apple one is almost like an apple pie, I guess dessert like definitely.
I first went to the one on Lincoln but this one is the middle spot for my buddies and me to meet up. Anyhoo both places are good and slightly different.
My friends keep raving about this place so late Sunday morning I agreed to drive 45 minutes to meet them. After some issues with getting coordinated we ended up at this location which is located in a nondescript strip mall.
The Hostess was very nice and patient with the rest of my parties' tardiness. We were quickly seated and our waitress was quick with our drinks.
The problems started when we realized that this location doesn't serve Biscuits and Gravy which apparently one of the other locations does. After some pouting and whining we managed to place our order. A short while later the manager informs us that they ran out of waffle batter. It was actually quite funny. Except to the guy that woke up craving for biscuits and gravy, settled for waffles and was now faced with having to place his order a 3rd time.
At this point I became convinced that we were on candid camera. Our server tried to clear one of the guy's plates as he was mid-bite, food in hand. Literally as she turned to walk away another person, not even our waitress, walked up and asked to take his plate.
All of this made for an amusing Sunday, funny story aside, I'm left with a chain restaurant that serves different food then the other chains and ran out of one of its main menu items. The food was ok, the prices ok, the service ok. It was just ok.
My girlfriend and I had a craving for pancakes in the middle of the day. Since there are no good breakfast places in Irvine, we ventured out to orange.
Surprisingly, not a long wait on the weekend. We ordered the blueberry pancakes and the banana pancakes. I personally really liked the banana pancakes, but I didn't get any bananas until the second pancake or so. About 80% of the way through, I started wanting a variation in my palate. It would be nice if their pancakes came with eggs or sausages or something else. Still, a solid 4 stars for being the closest breakfast joint in Irvine that's not IHOP or Denny's.
After my Photography Class I stopped by on Sat. Morning. It was very crowed but I managed to get a table. The Service was excellant and I ordered the Dutch Baby. I was delicous!!! and a side of bacon. What a wonderful meal. The omelets are fuffy and large. Enough for two people. A great breakfast.....
3 stars!
This location has changed my opinion of the chain.
Came here for lunch and I must say, though service was spotty, food was right on!
The cornbeef n hash was tasty! Cooked well, though could've been a little more crisp, but seasoned perfectly!
Overeasy eggs were perfect, runny yolks!
"Premium" potatoes were great. Crunchy, cheesy, full of vegetables and not overcooked!
It's nice to see a place perfectly execute breakfast foods!
The last time I ate at one of these was in Vegas. That location sucks, food is mediocre and service is terrible!
It's really, really hard to find a breakfast place in Orange on a Sunday morning. Restaurants are either open too late (PJ's Abbey), have terrible service (The Filling Station), are not acceptable (Denny's, Carrows, Norms), or are not open at all (Anepalcos).
This can be a big bummer on Sunday morning at 7am.
Before I go further, yes, I really am awake before 7am on Sundays. If you also have an insomniac toddler than you know what I'm talkin' about.
Needless to say, I'm happy that there's a local Original Pancake House. They open at 7am, they have great service, and the food is average to good. I'll just come right and say, you will not have the best pancakes of your life at OPH. But you will get some fairly good pancakes. I actually prefer the waffles and omelets. The seasonal strawberry waffle is delicious and they pile on the fresh strawberries. Other highlights are the Dutch Baby, which is ridiculously good, and the apple pancake. If they were fat free, they would be perfect.
Now, if you've read any of my reviews, you might know that I'm pretty particular when it comes to service. Going out to eat should be an enjoyable and relaxing time. It's the reason we go out rather than stay in and cook, right?!? Breakfast service should be the BEST service because people are usually the hungriest and crankiest first thing in the morning. So, it's great to go to OPH and get excellent service. They deliver the coffee and food very quickly and the coffee is always refilled without asking. This is key to good breakfast service.
*end breakfast service soapbox rant here*
Anyways, go check out OPH if you happen to be in the Orange area for breakfast. Good food, endless coffee, decent prices, and excellent service. What more do you need at 7am on a Sunday?
Oh, yeah. Sleep.
I first tried OPH in Torrance when I was a little girl... I fell for the commercials and ordered the Dutch Baby...which disappointed me terribly. I thought I would never return, but for some reason; I wanted to give it another try yesterday....Turned out okay!
I got the Corned Beef Hash... It was yummy, there was something different about it - it tasted very home-made. My sunnyside up eggs were all runny - just the way I like them, so I can mix it over the hash... ! I also had some of the Eggs Benedict and their Hollandaise sauce is some of the best I ever had! The Coconut Waffles were good - but I didnt like the Tropical Syrup that accompanies it, tastes like an extremely sweet Citron sauce. I think it would have been better with regular syrup.
Whats the BEST thing here? Pancakes. The regular ol pancakes. They are p-e-r-f-e-c-t !!
Service was 'meh'.. Our server was nice, but everything took so long! And its freaking cramped in there! Oh and a large cup of juice is the size of a kids drink at most places! LOL.
So...... their Hash is good, their specialty pancakes are whatever; but the regular pancakes are amazing. Dont waste your money on juice, expect some waiting........and thats it!
I was a little bummed to find out this wasn't actually the original original... what a crock. I guess I should have known...I won't hold it against them. I can make pancakes and french toast and all that at home... but I've never been able to make buckwheat pancakes that were good.... so I tried them out..
Good stuff! Plain of course, and not as wonderful as regular pancakes, but good enough to have again. I think next time I would order some additional sides or something, because 6 pancakes and nothing else is kind of boring.
This place has gone downhill quick.
Their pancakes are not as flavorful as when they first opened. Their bacon doesn't even taste quite the same. (their omelettes are still good) I thought it may have been me, so we tried it a few more times, but unfortunately we walked away with the same disappointment each time.
Some of their waitstaff are really lacking now. I've just spent over $70 for breakfast including Juices and Hot Chocolates, but when I asked for some water, repeatedly, I was ignored. If it was something I had to pay for I probably would of gotten it. I guess she doesn't work for tips.....
Had to update....hate to hate....but sometimes you just got to keep it real. This place definitely is not 4 stars anymore.

So, going to the newest "restaurant" opened in a stripmall ranks pretty low on my list of things to do. I've actually been kind of avoiding this place. My favorite OPH in YLinda kinda bummed me out recently so I thought it was time to try this new one. BTW it IS a different owner than Anaheim and Y Linda Loc's.
Was actually kinda shocked how nice it was. The place is about as upscale as you can create in a stripmall without going to extremes. They have a private dining room for 15-40 that can be reserved, otherwise used as regular dining space. Heavy table settings with cloth napkins. Nice big waiting area with 2 flat screens. Booths, 1/2 booths and tables.
Our Apple Pancake and 49er's came out perfect. A little bit of a wait for the Apple Pancake as always. Our waitress kept our drinks full and let us know our food should be up anytime now. Our server, Kiersten, was great. They have a hi-tech wireless order system that I have never seen before.
I'd give them 5 stars if not for one thing I noticed. Probably wouldn't say anything here either but, kinda hoping the owner might see this comment: We sat in one of the booths under the kitchen window glass. There are already signs that attention to cleaning detail would fix. Small spots of sticky stuff, crayon marks, dust collecting on the edge of the wood trim, a loose lampshade ready to fall off, booth behind me missing lamp shade, etc. No need to let this place go already. Attention to detail like this makes your customers feel special and keeps the restaurant seeming new and clean for years to come. It would be such a bummer to be sitting here 2 years from now thinking what the hell happen to this place? But hey - the food and service is great though!
I've been rolling the South Beach diet for quite some time, so I can't really vouch for the pancakes and such. I would assume this matters since it's the PANCAKE HOUSE. However, the omelets are fantastic. I've never quite seen an omelet they way they do (tall, think circular shape)... but they are delicious. I'd like to see more of a selection with regards to options to put in... but you can't have it all.
My daughter and I hit this place once a week before I take her to school regularly. Perhaps I have been influenced by this wonderful father/daughter experience, none-the-less, the Omelets are legit.
On a side, they have a great private room for parties of 25 or less.
I absolutely love their 49er pancakes (so thin yet fluffy?) and their moist and fluffy blueberry pancakes... not to mention their coconut waffles with tropical syrup! YummO! Not convinced yet? Go ahead and try this place out~ Definitely wouldn't hurt to try~
I've been to two other original pancake houses and this was the worst.
Lemme tell ya, I LOVE pancakes. I fell in love with the OPH in Anaheim and Aliso Viejo and I visit them when I can but I was so disappointed when I came here.
This place looks cleaner than the one in Anaheim but the food isn't up to OPH standards! I was heartbroken when I learned they only serve frozen blueberries instead of blueberry compote. The 49er flapjack is only one layer instead of a stack and it was smaller than my plate. It was not chewy or gooey and it was ripped in half because it was too thin. The banana pancakes do not come with slices of bananas or the special sweet syrup. It was just 6 regular dollar coin pancakes and it tasted like banana liqueur. The servers were nice and helpful but the food sucked.
I will not be coming back here.
Normally, I'm not a big fan of pancakes, but I'll make an exception for Original House of Pancakes. One of the best breakfast places that I've been to...way better than your regular IHOP. A group of us girls drove out to Orange for breakfast and we were stuffed at the end of the meal. What we called "The Baby" aka The Dutch Baby featured on Food Network was delicious. I ate the whole plate. I heard "The Baby" at the Original Original location in Anaheim is even better and larger so I will definitely try it next time. "The Baby" is not your ordinary flat pancake...it's a bigger version of, as my best friend called it an upside down hat pancake with sprinkled powder sugar. "The Baby" tasted fluffy and sweet in my mouth...no extra sugar needed. However, I added a touch of butter and maple syrup and it was perfection....a fantastic dessert for my breakfast meal.
To Be Continue...upcoming sequel Og House of Pancakes Anaheim...Stay Tune :0)
Dood. For chuck's sake, you can't compare TOPH to a Michelin rated restaurant. I don't understand what some of these yelpers expect talking about service and wait time.
It is everything you could want in a breakfast establishment. A little bit of a wait. Efficient service complete with those hand held order taker gadgets. An ample menu featuring large portions of yummy sweets and fluffy egg dishes. Hot coffee with speedy refills. I'll be back for the apple pancake...
SUCH terrible service so here i am posting my first bi*chy complaining review. and alas, let's hope the trend shall not continue.
being a breakfast lover i love the fresh smell of coffee and watching the morning crowd as people digging into their lovely pancakes. however, pllllleeeeeeeease pleeeeease do not take my order after 20 minutes i have sit down and bring my food after the people who ordered 15 minutes after me! Pleease pleeeease do not ignore request of milk with coffee! pleaase pleassssse do not try to hide away from me after i waved my hand furiously waiting for an explaination why my food has not arrived after 1 hour! that seriously ticks me off BIG TIME!!
though the owner did come over to explain to me that it takes longer to make my food after i complained, BUT NO, I AIN'T BUYING IT and Yes, i'll believe you more if you tell me the cock is hatching the eggs in the kitchen!
I was told the original pancake house in Aliso Viejo is where the MILF goes, so i deliberately chose the one in getto Orange hoping my date wouldn't drool too much as we eat. but again, i guess there is a reason the MILFs choose that place
the price is alright, costed me $3 additional just to replace plain pancake with blueberry pancake, which, turned out less than what i have expected. blueberry syrup that came along was definitely lovely. Ham tasted gamey and sour, DON'T GET IT!
Overall sucky experience, wouldn't go there again but rather risking the embarrassment of my date drooling all over the floor for those OC MILFS. *humph*
First idea when you hear "Pancake house" is.... I bet they have GREAT PANCAKES!!!...
WRONG!!!!!!.....
The pancakes tasted like it was from Denny's (nothing special) and the scrambled eggs.... they were flat and literally scrambled into little pieces.
What really bothered me about this restaurant were their Crepes....
they were soggy and really THICK!... If you have never eaten crepes before, do not start here...
Quick story: I had a bit of a 'rock star' moment at The Original Pancake House (TOPH) the other day. I was planning on Yelping this place and brought my camera. I started taking pictures of my wife's corned beef hash and my apple pancake. After finding out that we were Yelpers, the manager said, "Well, since you're taking pictures, you might as well take a picture of this," as he placed a fresh-from-the-oven Dutch Baby on our table. Wow! I should bring my camera with me more often...
Okay, here's the rest of the review. The Wife, the li'l one, and I decided to make another trip down to TOPH. After two previous failed attempts (on Sunday mornings...BIG mistake! Loooooong waits...), we finally trekked over for a late breakfast (around 1:30). This time we had to wait about 20 minutes (waaaay better than 1 hour or more). People were seated relatively quickly so the line moved at a good pace. I was in the mood for pancakes, but wanted to try one of their house specialties. I opted for the apple pancake. The wife's inner carnivore chose the corned beef hash combo (w/eggs and pancakes). As we waited, the waitress brought out some strawberries with freshly whipped cream. Nice touch! Their citrus juices are freshly squeezed, but pricey.
The corned beef hash was quite tasty and authentic (not that canned crap!). I found it to be light and fluffy, considering it's corned beef. The buttermilk pancakes were very flavorful and fluffy as well. If I didn't get the apple pancake, I'd order up a stack or two of these in a second.
My apple pancake (if you can call it that) left me near-speechless. This whopper of a pancake is enough to feed 2-3 normal people. Me being a hearty eater, I could have taken it all in one sitting (if it hadn't been for the Dutch Baby bonus). The apple pancake is very eggy, dense, and HOT (make sure you blow on it a bit)! I found its texture and consistency to be like that of a heavy bread pudding. Normally, I wouldn't like pancakes like this, but this one was delicious. The tart Granny Smith apple slices combined with a pure Sinkiang cinnamon glaze kept me coming back for more. Good stuff.
The Dutch Baby is basically the same thing as the apple pancake, but without the apples. This dish is more of a hybrid pancake/souffle than your typical buttermilk pancake. It starts out tall and airy and then sinks as time progresses (becoming more dense). Served with butter, powdered sugar, and lemon wedges, this 'baby' was a great extra breakfast treat. I thought the lemon juice would throw things off, but you really don't notice much tartness with the powdered sugar or butter mellowing it out. Though I probably wouldn't order this myself, I'm definitely glad I had a chance to try it. It tasted great the next morning, too...
Despite our great service (our waitress was Violeta, I believe), expect two waits. The first is the wait to get seated and the second is the wait for your food. Fresh food does comes with a price. A family sitting right next to us came in starving and basically lost their appetites by the time their food came out. So please don't expect your food to come out quickly because it won't. Relax when you finally get seated and enjoy your meal. We did.
If you're looking for this place, it's off the 55 freeway at the Chapman exit. It's on the corner of Chapman and Prospect in the same shopping center as Sasoon Chicken (mmm...chicken...). Tip: beat the really long waits and get here in the last hour of service. You'll thank me later...with free pancakes, perhaps?
I love this place. I have never had a problem with service and the food is worth the buck! My favorite thing on the menu is bacon waffles... YUM! I urge you to try em! This new location is conveniently located. But be warned, prepare to wait for an hour or more on Saturday and Sunday mornings!
Pancakes sucks!!! Not fluffy, too much baking soda(smells when you eat it). Order banana pancakes, they blended the banana into the batter, couldn't taste the banana at all. Banana cakes are suppose to have slices of banana, at least that how I've had them.
Best fresh squeeze OJ, but not for $5 (small).
Egg Whites, cooked with way too much butter or margarine.
Lingon berry, good but too sweet.
Dutch cake(forgot what it's called), pretty interesting.
Not worth the wait (not just for a table, also for food).
My friend lives my the other one and goes there lots. He went here a couple of times and said the other location is better. I'll give the other a try, hopefully they won't disappoint.
Just plain AWESOME! The omelettes are out of this world. The dutch baby is dessert masquerading as breakfast. You can't go wrong here.
Heard wonderful things about this place, and finally got to go with a group of family members for a celebratory breakfast. Each of us ordered something different, and everything was DELISIOUS!! I ordered the Apple Pancake, and was not disappointed. This monster is almost as big as the plate they bring it out on, and is loaded up with sliced Granny Smith apples, and a delicious crumbly, sticky sweet cinnamon glaze that complements everything perfectly.
I've been warned that the place gets packed, and there is often a long wait to be seated, however, when we went, we were seated immediately, and received our food fairly quickly. We were told upon ordering that the omelets, and the apple pancake take a little longer to cook, so I was expecting to wait quite a bit longer.
I will be going back to try some of the other wonderful items on the menu.
Great food, but too crowded to make me want to go there as often as my stomach may request. I usually go to Jagerhaus for breakfast instead, since I can always get seated as soon as I arrive. But if you get up earlier than I, head over to Pancake House!
Their food has been pretty consistent. I've ordered different items every time, and they were always tasty. Service is slow and the wait is long, but this is one of the only place that I'll deal with. All of the pancakes were amazing and the omlettes are great as well.
One day The Original Pancake House just magically appeared in a strip mall on Chapman. Unless you plan on enjoying brekkie super early in the morning, be prepared to wait. There is definitely a church crowd on Sundays. We waited about 20 or so mins and then were seated. Our waitress was prompt on taking our order but the food did take a while to get to our tables. There were people who ordered after us who got there food before us. The omelets are huge. My western omelet is a big mound of peppers, tomatoes, onion cheese and bacon. It also comes with a side of three buttermilk pancakes. I quickly asked for a to go box because I knew there was no way I could finish all the food in front of me. My omelet was good, a little overcooked but still good. Also because of all the food you get with your meal, its a pretty inexpensive deal.
Booo!!! Went to the OG Pancake House on Sunday morning and found a line out the door and more than a 1 hour wait! Baby T couldn't handle waiting an hour for breakfast, so we had to leave. My quest to try the OG Pancake House is left unsatisfied yet again. So 1 star for now, but I shall return.
***Update 6/30****
Ok I finally, got to eat here after 3 tries. The wait was only 20 minutes, yay! We decided the trick was to come late so that less people are there eating breakfast, so either come really early or come at 1:30pm or later on Sat or Sun. We got seated right away and noticed lots of families here. It's definitely a family place. Arnold ordered the apple pancake, two eggs, and sausage patties, I ordered the corned beef hash with the short stack of pancakes. My corned beef was made from scratch with real corned beef not from the can. The potatoes were more like mashed and not cubed, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I did notice however that since they used real corned beef brisket, I had a few grisly hard pieces of beef that I had to spit out, but no big deal. My pancakes were perfect, nice size and tasted delicious.
We actually got lucky and one of the consultants of two WI OG pancake houses was walking by our table and noticed Arnold taking pictures of the food so he asked if we were spies or something. We of course, told him about yelp and we actually had one of those yelp cards and we gave it to him and he was happy we would be promoting the place. Especially if it's free promotion, what business wouldn't want it. The manager came up to us also and he gave us a free Dutch Baby which is one of their specialties. We gladly took it and it was pretty good. It's definitely more like a souffle where you can taste the egginess and it's not too sweet. I enjoyed it, but I don't think it's for everyone. Oh and we also got our juices comped since we waited a bit for our food. This place is definitely good for a leisurely breakfast, they make everything from scratch and it's all made to order so you definitely wait for your food, but I think it's worth it.
Delicious! I had the bacon waffle and it was amazing! I felt like a fat kid afterwards but its okay. The wait was loonnnnnng but i was expecting it. I wouldn't be able to have this everyday cause i would literally be a million pounds but i would most certainly come again!
The last time it was really busy but this time the wait was about 10 minutes (we came at 10:30 am on a Saturday). So I ordered the mushroom omelette (3 buttermilk pancakes comes along with it) and a small OJ. My friend ordered the 49ers flap jack, side of eggs (over hard) and large apple juice. When the waitress brought out my OJ, I thought it was kid size. I had to drink it very slowly because I doubt they give refills, should have ordered the large which looked like a regular small. I like Omelette house because their OJ is like a large for the price of a small. The waitress said the omelette would take about 15 minutes. I'm thinking the pancakes would come out first. But everything even my friends meal came out at the same time. The omelette was so-so nothing spectacular. I wouldn't order this again. The buttermilk pancake was really good though. For some reason it tasted as if there was some alcohol in there. Maybe it's my taste buds. But I'd definitely order the buttermilk again IF it taste like alcohol again. My friends flap jack fell flat. It taste toooooo eggy and it was too thin just like crepe but nothing else on it. I like my crepe with ice cream and fruits. The bill came out to be about $30. To me, that's pricey for what we ate. For that price we were able to eat 2 new york steak with eggs, hashbrowns and toast w/ a big OJ at Omelette house. Back to the Omelette house!
I'm not a breakfast fan, but the Original Pancake house is an awesome place. The service is good, as long as you don't go when it's insanely busy. That'll make you wait a long time, too.
You can't really go wrong here. Pricing is great- I recommend the Pecan Pancakes.
Service was slow, the atmosphere of the restuarant was a little cold, and average food.
My advice: Stay at home and cook yourself breakfast.
I have never had a bad experience at this place. Being right around the corner from my house, I have had the Sunday morning hangover/wear your sunglasses indoors stumble in to this place on a few occasions. Although it is always busy so I have never been seated with less than a 10-15 minute wait, the food never disappoints. The staff are all usually friendly and accommodating and the worst I can say about the service is that they will occasionally forget to bring you a side item like your toast.
Been there a few times and never been disappointed. If you want a varied assortment of pancakes made with good ingredients, then this is the place. My favorite are the buckwheat pancakes and a side of bacon. But, the baked apple pancake keeps getting my attention but I just don't think I could finish it. The standard order is six pancakes, which are about twice what I can eat and a side of bacon that includes four thick oven crispy slices. Best bacon ever that I have found in a restaurant. They also serve Dietrich's coffee and if you ask for cream it is the thick creamy stuff. A great gourmet cup of java. The service is friendly with a courteous staff. It gets a little busy and the young staff sometimes just forgets to set the table or needs prompting for more coffee, but they are always friendly and take care of business with an apology. They are good everyday neighborhood folk. As far as downsides; I just don't eat as much as I used to and unfortunately, they do not have half servings of pancakes as do most restaurants. But in all fairness, that is not enough to take them off my list. If you are a pancake lover then you just got to go and check them out!
