This place is my new favorite spot for Happy Hour.  Seven days a week from 4-7.  The cocktails are awesome and during HH are 2 for 1.  I had the Black Monday (great!) and the Brown Bunny (amazing!).

Will definitely be frequenting this place more often!

Good music (hip hop and dub step mix). Dance floor is smaller than your average club but this isn't a club. It gets really crowded which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It is too loud to have conversations so I wouldn't go here to try and catch up with friends. Mixed crowd anywhere from their early 20s, mostly late 20s to early 30s, some 40-50 somethings.

$5 cover which dropped it a star

give me no cover, an open bar, and a pink monkey head to dance around in and im a happy duck.

    wait.

seriously, i didnt think much about going to the office bar. i got an invite from a friend to hang out and see one of his friends spin a few thurs nites ago...figured it would be just another run of the mill bar experience. and perhaps without free vodka, and a cover (i know they do have em at times...weekend?) i would feel differently. but sippin on "poor man's mules" - the free well vodka, 50 ginger ale / 50 soda and a slice of lime -- joinin in on the bday girls comp'd bottle, then dancing around with that delightful monkey head just put another notch in the "successful random thursday adventures." false impressions? who knows, who cares...reviews of bars and clubs are always skewed and dont really mean much. overall rating 3 stars? yeah, expected. but i had fun =)

though i didnt partake in any regular beverages, i will say their speciality cocktails looked pretty good and had fun names. ill have to head back to try. thursday nites are definitely happenin.' i got so swept up in drinks, dancing, picture takin (wow you are EVERYBODY'S friend when you are a dancing monkey...and my do you feel like the best dancer in the world!), that it was midnight before i knew it.  if i was wasnt an early bird office drone i would have stayed much longer. good music, good vibes.

This has been one of the more upscale casual bar/clubs I've been to, perfect if you want to go clubbing but are too lazy or don't want to dress as swanky as you would in the bars/clubs at the Gaslamp. However, I would go here if I want to dance as opposed to just chill and drink in a typical North Park bar.

The ambiance was dark and swanky with a good mix of people out just dancing and having a great time. There wasn't anyone that I noticed that creeped me out too much.

The cover was $5 when I went in at a little past 11, which isn't too bad compared to most other clubs around San Diego. Their bar drinks are priced like a typical bar, around $7-$10 for signature cocktails, slightly cheaper for their draft beers. I had their Black Monday - good combination of cherry vodka + cherry + coke. It took a while for the bartender to give me my drink, but I came in at a really busy time.

Best part was the dancing - the did not just blare the current top 40 on repeat. The DJ  had a mix of contemporary stuff and remixed versions of classical 70s/80s/90s stuff. My friends and I stayed in a little corner where we danced the night away.

This place is good to go clubbing if you're on a budget or if you're too lazy to venture downtown.

Nooo!!! No bar food. But, because they are situated in the heart of North Park and close to a variety of restaurants.
Now, I'm the first to admit that I'm not a drinker, but the few times I've been here I've seen others grab some of their mixed cocktails and rave about them. I'll just stick with my light and sissy beer. Bartenders are pretty laidback and chill (like most bartenders I've met in SD)

The environment is pretty hip. Darkly lit. A couple of proper tables. And a few flat screen tv's situated throughout the bar so that you're never blind to the football game on. There's a stage in the back for live acts.

I'm biased towards the Office because it's my favorite watering hole. Not to menton I've had my birthday here, courtesy of Joe and Ted.  Cocktails are original and phenomenal. Don Draper and Rainmaker are at the top of my list. And when I'm feeling balls-y, Yamazaki and good 'ol, reliable Green Chartreuse are choice. Happy Hour is excellent. Buy a drink and get a poker chip for a free drink, which you can use for your next visit.  The bartenders are the best in San Diego. Take care of James, Mikey, and company...Great place to unwind after a hard day's work. And an even better place to party and take pictures in the photobooth. 10 enthusiastic thumbs up!

All I can say is 2 for 1 happy hour!!

The Office is a dark bar with a very cool ambiance, it has a great Happy hour special from 4-7 daily and it has a variety of people who frequent the bar. There is usually a DJ playing some music. Last time I was there they were hosting a live music night.

The place reminds me of a 70's style lounge, very retro. I like how you can sit at the bar or enjoy the booths with your group.

They have several flat-screens behind the bar so you can enjoy the games and they have some parking around the back of the building and they have direct access to the bar through the back door. (That's my little secret to share)

    I love this place.

They have a nice 2 for 1 happy hour.

You can dance here, either on the small floor or just right where you are standing.

    Bartenders are fast and friendly.

And the drinks are not overpriced.

Bummed I missed the daily 4-7pm happy hour (2 for 1 drinks!) but I was more than happy to put my dancing shoes on for Club Night (every Saturday).  The music was great- two DJs putting together constant mash-ups of classic '80/"90's hip hop & R&B with today's cool dance music.  Everything was totally fun- danceable (even for a person like me who hates rap).

The scene is somewhat laid back- no flip flops- but you won't find tourists dressed to the nines like in the Gaslamp quarter.  Just a little bit edgy and cool.

Get there before 10 pm so you don't pay a cover!  I will be going back soon!

Good place to mix it up.  You get some edgy musical acts and DJ's usually keep the floor going on the weekends.  Decent drinks, decent prices.  This is a neighborhood (NP) place that can really push the energy when it needs to.  Most other places up here are a bit more mellow.  You dont get many tourists or shiny shirts from AZ in here.

I like how dark it is....and I like the booths, which I have gotten bottle service at, and that works out great.  There are a few that are right on the dance floor and those are best.  Hit one of those up for a really good night.

Were the hell are the cubicles  , copier and supply closet at? I've been lead astray.

Theme bar ,dark interior, large bar with giant drink menu above the bar. Wall lined with black wrap around booths. All booths are reserved when we walked in and the place was empty. So just sat in it anyway, name on the card said DJ he never showed. Dance floor in the back, DJ spinning some background music.

Got a couple of beers here. But if your felling crazy you can order from their mixed drink menu. With crazy names like The Night Shift,to the The Don Draper.

Place was alright, filled up after a while, bathroom has black toilets, did I miss? I'll never know.

Always spinning good music on Saturday night :) It's a small space, but that's what you get when you're at an "office" muahhaa. I mean when it get's pretty packed, there really isn't any room to breathe, but all in all, really fun place to chill and dance.

Pretty cool atmosphere and drinks of course are regular price.
I got an adios and that one seemed a little pricey for 11 dollars... but lemme tell you, it messed me up real quick! Hahaa... so that's always a good drink to get :) other drinks I got were only about $7 so you have many options.

There's maybe about 8 round booths next to the wall with a small center table and a teeny tiny dance floor.. so the place as a whole is pretty small but it was cozy :)

There was only one bartender though so that kinda sucked and there's no waiter service :(

Oooooh and I went on a Thursday late night like at 11 and there was no cover :) but on weekends I think there is if you go after 10

I have lived down the street from this bar for years and never gone in.  That makes me very sad now.  All those years wasted at other bars in the area.

My girlfriends and I were on our way home from a very disappointing and short visit to True North (I have only been there twice and I will NEVER go back) when we heard some awesome music coming from The Office.

When we walked in the music was awesome, the bartender was INCREDIBLE, and the crowd was laid back & fun.  This bar is seriously my new favorite bar in San Diego.

One of my friends was in from out of town and it was her last night in San Diego so we were able to show her an awesome time and dance our asses off!  They not only have great music but they also have a great dance floor and it was not too crowded either.

My only concern in writing this review is that it is going to get more crowded and I expect to become a regular there.  So please only come to this bar if you are fun and laid back.

One last note, the bartenders are awesome there and you can trust them to make you some great concoction so give up control and tell them to make you a shot of whatever they want to make.  You will be glad you did.  The shot I had last night was one of the best shots I have ever tasted.  See you there!  :)

Wow, this place is ridiculous.  Was at this bar about a year ago with some girlfriends, and it was a NO GO! No fun. NO good music. I'm not sure about the food here, but the drinks were weak and expensive. Walked in and wanted to walk right out, but gave it a chance. I'm not sure if this place has gotten better since, but i'm sure it will be a long time for me to roam into this place again.

The Office Bar is a pretty cool place. Good drinks; didn't catch any of their great deals or anything but it's all good. Gets pretty busy around midnight, but the more the merrier. The dance floor is a bit tiny, which is the only con. However, I still had a good time and their music selection is pretty good. There's little cozy booths if you happen to find one open. Overall, very chill bar -- I recommend!

I enjoyed this place, nothing spectacular but defiantly will receive a return visit sometime in the future.

I came with a friend and it was perfect for a Sunday on a 3 day weekend. The music was good, strong enough that people were getting their dance on but no so loud you couldn't have a convo. The first drink took a while, but after that the staff was on top of things. I have to try it on another day, but I would recommend you give The Office a try.

Arrived around 10 PM after deciding that reggae night at U-31 was just not our cup of tea on Labor Day Sunday. There were about 15 people in my party. There were only a couple of people inside the bar- security joked that we had brought the party.

The bar is pretty small, with a tiny dance floor. I like the fact that they have so many booths, so that it creates a more intimate experience.

Seems like there's a consensus about Friday night being the best night to be at this place, so maybe I'll find myself wandering back on said night.

Cool place and the crowd is neither hipster, creepy nor db filled.  You have a small dance floor and enough room to stand /lean/sit up front.  The drinks are good (except the ass birthday shot of some kind of 128 proof whiskey I had to take...This is my new go to shot to make people spew...better than wild turkey or three wise men) and they are inexpensive.  I will continue to keep this on my NP crawl list....good place for end of the night or thoughout the night.

Not really my sort of place... especially when they charge you cover on a wednesday evening... UM REALLY?

Came here to celebrate my mandy's birthday and only for that reason. The drink prices are a bit on the higher set for the amount they give you but enjoyed the show that Terry M. put on. Didn't know that quiet fella can sing?! Ambiance is very hipster but whatever, coming from north county it was refreshing change.

Not sure if I would return again but yeah I had an okay time. The thing I did like was the large menu of specialty drinks that they had. Definitely interesting.

This is a great spot to go to for some good music and fairly priced drinks. The crowd is really cool and the dress code that is enforced makes the environment even more enjoyable. The dance floor is kind of small but it certainly doesn't stop people from dancing because the music is always good every time I'm there. It's got great ambiance for when you want to party with a few friends or even just sit at the bar alone for a drink. The bartenders are great and their selection and mixes are absolutely delicious!

A group of friends and I stumbled into The Office at the end of our bar crawl through North Park. Sure, we resented the $5 cover charge but there was nowhere else left to go. The venue is pretty small but when it comes down to it, The Office is a no-frills joint that serves decently priced drinks and plays music from the early to mid 2000's, which is totally my thing. Would I purposely go here again? Probably not, but a bar crawl through North Park is not complete without a visit to The Office.

Maybe I'm just old and grumpy, but I never understood getting grief by the door man over a baseball cap (that I'm holding, not wearing) and walking in the bar to see guys in tennis shoes and t-shirts. I don't care if your shirt has glitter. Its still a t-shirt. The guy wasn't a jerk about it but, really? What gives? Anyway...

The place is ok. It was a crowded Saturday night. Seemed like a typical bar/club with loud music. Kind of too dark for me. The DJ pumped out some fun tunes. I got a kick listening to what I thought was techno Bon Jovi. Ha! Drinks were good. The crowd is young. Best bet is a grab a booth if your lucky. Otherwise, prepare to be jostled and bumped around a bit.

Basically, an ok place. I'm more of a chill, laid back, bar person so I'd try other establishments in the area before going back.

If your older then the Happy Hour is probably perfect. I know it is for me. I love that you can stop by cocino's and pick up some food and bring it to The Office to munch while you imbibe. Any time an establishments 'breaks the rules' to allow their patron's to be comfortable & happy it gets two thumbs up from me. Great drink prices and 2 for 1 can't be beat! Especially since it's 7 days a week.

The staff is friendly, talkative & usually will play a cool Tarantino movie if asked, unless you have lame sports freaks in there which The Office definitely doesn't fit sports bar theme. Hey Jock, try Seau's or Gordon Birsch.

It's okay to hang out at on a Friday or Saturday night but usually the crowd is way to young for me. Expect a $5 cover after 8:30 I believe.

Downfall: The female bathroom toilets are pretty broken and rickety. BUT what can you expect when you have 20 drunk 22 year old girls in swarms trying not to pee their pants :/ 2 stalls only.

I'll keep this one short and sweet: If your idea of a good time involves top 40 tunes played at volumes too high to hold a conversation over, an abundance of Ed Hardy t-shirts and enough douche-baggary to make your skin crawl then this, my friend, is the place for you.

Personally, I didn't enjoy these types of establishments when I was 21 and I definitely don't enjoy them ten years later.  To me class requires more than a tired tounge-in-cheek name and a few drinks that are named after characters in Mad Men.  But hey, to each its own...

Damn, I'm old. Or...perhaps I just need a little conditioning for the mid-week bar visit. Hubby and I decided to be spontaneous and visit The Office Bar in North Park on a Wednesday night. Note, I LOVE LOVE LOVE North Park. It's the closest thing to being in big cities like San Francisco, New York or Chicago...it carries more of that urban feel (to me anyway) than say our "downtown" San Diego.

The Hubby's friends were scheduled to play a ukelele set at The Office, so we went. Dark, not so spacious but cozy, however it was pretty crowded that night. I thought the sound system was not doing the musicians any justice...it just wasn't good. Didn't help that it was so damn loud in there either. I needed a drink.

Off to the bar we go...one long beach for me and one seven&seven for the Mr. Twenty bills later, we peaced out of there. The drinks were priced high if you do your math right, but my drink was strong -- thank goodness because if it was a watered down version of my drink, I'd be a bit peeved for paying the prices we did.

I'm not giving up on The Office...I'd like to go back to catch more live music. In reading some of the reviews, it sounds like there are 2 for 1 deals and the option to bring your food in. I may have to take advantage of that next time. Overall, good vibe and creative concept. I like the idea of saying that "I'm going to the Office" and having that "secret meaning" behind it. :)

This place deserves a review update. After all, if I'm coming back here on a regular basis, there must be something in those drinks thats making me want to come back.

That and they've updated their happy hour times. It's now daily from 4-7pm. Again, 2 for 1 drinks. I've grown fond of some of their signature cocktails such as the Brown Bunny, the Betty Francis, the Whistleblower and the Jetsetter.

So what if its fruity? It's got alcohol. That's all it really matters. The Whistleblower and the Jetsetter seems a little more sophisticated with the champagne served in a flute glass and the Brown Bunny and the Betty Francis is a little bit more sweet because of the sweet tea vodka, but still, they all have the alcohol and they all serve their purpose...of getting me hammered.

Either way, you get to enjoy the 2 for 1 and some local performers. It's North Park, so you can get a drink or two here and move on to the next bar or restaurant. The bathroom is still semi-dirty though..oh well.

And avoid that fucked up restaurant Ill Imposterino that's across the street...it's the devil. http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Man, this place used to be so dope. I must admit that the "cut myself" music that was frequently being played there was NOT my shit but I'll take clamorous rock over DJ Train Wreck on the ones and twos any day. With that being said and out of the way. The happy hour is impressive, two for one drinks... WORD TO YA MUTHA!
I'll go there before the cover is being charged and the rrrrregularrrrrs are there pissing their paychecks away.
Stiff drinks, VIP vibe and a dance floor for all the slinky and suave types. One of my only complaints is the beer selection needs some serious revamping. "Ooooh we have stella on tap" blah blah blah...
Oh and this place is a bit pricey. It hurts my taint to think about the coin I've dropped there. Bring a bank roll and be prepared to have your hind quarters fondled at any given point. CHEERS!

Small bar with bar/stool seating, booths and high tables. There's a stage for performers, but you would need to take a seat at one of the high tables or the bar to get a good view of the performance. Board games are avail for patrons to play while chillin'. It wasn't busy this evening, which made it a great setting (I hate crowds!).

It was 2 for 1 specials on the drinks for happy hour (5-7p), but we were notified that the drinks would have to be the same drink. Therefore, we waited for the Yelp specials that started at 7p. I ended up trying the Brown Bunny and Black Monday.

BB - It was good, but too much of an iced tea taste.
BM - The better of the two, since it was cherry flavored. Sweet and to my liking! (The guys didn't care too much for this drink...)

There was only 1 bartender avail at the time and he didn't seem to have a personality. I had to wait for a bit just to place my drink orders.

Sure I'd come back again. Def will try other drinks during their happy hour; otherwise, $8 - for what seems like a shot - is not worth it.

Okay. An extra star because I did get WASTED here. Can't go wrong with that!
The music was terrible and impossible to dance to. I came another time and there was a band. That was better but not by much. Strange layout, cramped quarters and nothing to do. I was also disappointed because someone told me there would be hot staff in sexy business attire. Not even close. I think I recall a bartender wearing a white button up but other than that no go.

Since my last review I stopped in here for a quick beer before heading off to a rock show at Pink.

This place has transformed completely in my opinion. + 2 stars for the friendly staff and decent beer selection. Otherwise I felt the crowd, ambiance, and almost blatant ripped-off styling was tremendously lame.

It seemed that the AC Lounge had hooked up with On Broadway and make a little night club baby. Out popped the Office, and it is jam-packed with overly tame and typical house music and collared shirts. I prefer the pool table, rock music, Import Beers and shots of Wild Turkey kind-of bar.

Any old school dive bar / punk rock enthusiast would do well to pass this place by unless they specifically checked out the theme for the evening. On the weekend you would barely recognize it as a N.P. bar.

Just my two cents based on my experiences, as usual.

So I realize the oh-so-important history behind The Office.
It was a way "cooler" bar back when it… Read more »

Go ahead and tell your significant other you're staying late at The Office - you won't be lying ;)  The Office Bar in North Park is a no-frills, no-nonsense neighborhood bar to waste the night away -and with its 2 for 1 drinks, it's easy to do that, too!

After dinner, our little group met up with old friends who were enjoying a guys' night out at The Office.   When we arrived at the dark little dive, they were already working OT.  They were crowded around a table covered with a bunch of empty beer and shot glasses, and stacks of poker chips ready to be redeemed for even more drinks.  No wonder the place was pretty much a dude ranch - it seems The Office Bar catered to that frat boy mentality lol.  The M.O. of the very friendly waitress, Shante, must have been to get us all drunk, as she seemed to come by every 10 minutes to either dole out shots of patron or ask us if we wanted anything else!

I was jonesing for some dessert, but of course I didn't expect The Office Bar to serve up any molten chocolate cakes or anything. However, they did have their own "roach coach" behind the bar outside (their specialty was tacos), which I thought was pretty clever.  I ended up getting some packaged chocolate wafer that I ate back at our table.  By this time, our group was already pretty faded, evidenced by one friend engaging in stupidly deep conversations, another talking with his hands too much, another slurring, and yet another gushing how much he missed and loved everyone, MAN!  So we had to call it quits and clock out of The Office Bar.  Good times!

HAPPY HOUR! TWO FOR ONE! First time I came I consumed large amounts of alcohol for very little cash.  Very happy day!

Second time I went to see The Red Starts here they were awesome.  The people were pretty cool.  I will return :)

We went on a Saturday...They play awesome music and their drinks are good!! The "brown bunny" was my favorite. What I didnt like it that it was way too crowded. I dont think that was responsible on their part in case of an emergency like a fire or all out brawl it would have been impossible to escape injury lol. They didnt seem to count anybody walking in or count those going out. This place was packed like some sardines. Which brings me to my next gripe... MILLI VANILLI!
OMG these rastafari guys were sooo musty. Like it almost knocked me out. Everyone was disturbed and they kept trying to talk to everyone!! It was awful, they should have been kicked out. To make matters worse, these people dont have air condition or something because i was sweating like you wouldnt believe!

Other things I noticed, a tranny with flashing lights, douches with their lame pick up lines, asian girls making their own circle, random tubby white chick in a prom dress with a small framed oreo freaking up behind her. It was kind of bazaar...the kind of people in here but all in all we had a good time people watching and listening to the tunes. :o)
