12 reviews for The Mosaic Hotel Beverly Hills
This is a cute, little boutique hotel nestled just a few streets down from Wilshire Blvd. The staff are all pretty nice and attentive. They provide car service for their guests around Beverly Hills and they also have an assortment of fresh fruit by their front desk. We didn't try their bar/restaurant nor did we lounge in their pool area so I can't comment on those services but it all looks really nice. They even provide a bunch of local social magazines for you to get your read on while you are building your tan by the pool.
Their rooms are nice and cozy (so not too big/not too small). They have a pretty good spread of snacks and drinks if you're hungry. One thing I must warn you about is that while their bathroom is gorgeous, they do not have a vent. I know! It makes no sense but I guess rich people aren't really human after all. However, despite this, they have the overhead rainfall shower head with the curved shower rod for optimal space and they provide Bvlgari products and it smells soooo GOOD! Love it. Must. Take. Home. With Me.
In terms of price, it's not bad for ritzy LA. For one night, our bill was around $230.
Oh and PS. you can valet your car during your stay. There's no need to find parking on the street.
precious gem of a hotel. comfortable/luxurious rooms, personal service and fabulous location. Can walk to all the stores in Beverly Hills and your plastic surgeon's office.
And the best surprise is the price! It's very reasonable for the locations

I recently stayed, and organized a reception, at this solid BH hotel. As has been noted before, the hotel is tucked into a side street a few blocks from the main shopping area of BH. The area around the hotel is quiet and I never heard traffic from the street, even though my room faced in that direction.
Rooms are nice, and while not overly large, the bed and linen are terrific, as is the flat screen TV.
The hotel, however, is really outstanding for events. Receptions take place on the first floor of the hotel, and this includes the bar, small restaurant, and pool area. The staff is fantastic and the service could not be better.
The one downside is the lack of a business center. If you need to use a computer and printer frequently this could prove difficult. You can send documents to the front desk to be printed (there is free wireless throughout the hotel) but there is only one computer for guest use.

Really comfortable bed.
I don't care how fancy everything else, you still have to sleep at night.
The decor is nice, the bathrooms, really nice. And the complimentary bath stuff smelled fabulous. (you know you always have to check them out.)
Didn't get you use the pool area the night we stayed, private party.
But the service was great. The front desk pointed us in the direction of a great restaraunt across the street that wasn't in my travel guide. (I'm a travel guide nerd)
I love this Boutique hotel. I never stayed in Beverly hills before and driving from OC to LA freaks me out , I almost get an anxiety attack just driving to LA , especially the westside or downtown. Getting to this hotel was so easy, thank god. Once getting there checked into valet , went up to the elevator to see my beau. He ordered us martini's and they showed up the same time I showed up, great timing. The bartender was also the room service guy as well. He made my martini very yummy and strong. The bathroom is a tad bit small but no worries. The shower was very comfortable and they use Bvlgari products and the soap feels and smells amazing. I may have to buy some for myself. The bed is VERY comfortable and that is so important to me. I didn't catch any sun outside but the pool area looks a bit small but they do have nice cute cabanas. The prices are great and I'd come back here to take my family here.
I had an ex-coworker/girl friend in town a couple nights ago for business from NY and she was put up at this Hotel to attend an industry trade show in the area. Since her closet resembles Imelda Marcos' with the savviest collection of beautiful Blahniks and Louboutins, I figured she would fanagle her way into having her company book her somewhere close to Barneys! (Conveniently, her being engaged to a Bergdorf Goodman employee who has the hook ups helps with her shoe fetish!) Of course, doesn't everyone make an excuse for shopping even though you are traveling for business?
I really like the feeling of this smart, chic hotel. It's simple, clean, refined with out being the least bit pretentious The employees here have a clear understanding of hospitality, based on their warmness and professionalism.
My experience was based on dinner and wine with my friend at their lounge. I learned from the bartender that Mosaic Hotel actually provides any food you order from Bar Noir, located in Hotel Maison 140, right adjacent to this place, straight from Moasic's kitchen. How their stewarding department transports food successfully from one hotel to another without disrupting presentation must be quite an operational challenge.
We ended up sharing the following: Sauteed Wild Mushrooms, Smoked Salmon on Potato Pancake and Creme Fraiche, Beet Salad and Heart of Palm Salad. Everything I'd just mentioned was really to die for, especially the Heart of Palm Salad (which we substituted the goat cheese with port salut) It was absolutely perfect. I could tell that the staff has a lot of pride with what they do... their staff's mentality is, "I do everything here because it's MY hotel, it IS boutique and I could take care of that."
My friend invited me into her hotel room to check out the decor and furnishings and I was pretty surprised with how tiny the room was! She was fine with it because she does live in Manhattan and by NY's standards, the size of the room would be the norm.
Loved the earthtone soft colors, crisp Frette linens, Bvlgari Green Tea Bath Amenities and just the overall level of detail brought into the smaller amenities such as the Ginger White Grape Tea served at Turndown Service. My girl friend was happy as a clam... even though the Plasma TV was inoperable after calling for it to be serviced twice. (We don't sweat the small stuff because it's not like we were cooped in her room watching TV any way.)
Small, cozy, refined and hospitable... it is most definitely a lovely place!

Great stay in January of 2009. My favorite part was breakfast -- I had some of the freshest fruit ever. Even Whole Foods and Trader Joe's seem stale by comparison -- I was really impressed. I would love to stay here for 5-6 days again.
This is a hotel that women and business people would probably like. It's not a trendy boutique, there's no scene, and no 'fun/safe sex' kit in the minibar. It's a plushly furnished hotel with newspapers of your choice delivered daily; courtesy tea and mood lighting set for you upon your return at the end of the day; and fairly solid Internet connectivity.
The shower-only bathroom was amazingly clean, huge walk-in shower with great Bvlgari products. Although watch that sinkside tray of delights -- totally overpriced lotions and potions. As Aidan H. notes, they're trying to sell you stuff -- the Fiji water, snacks etc.
Forget the pool and restaurant, I mean, why bother? Tiny and a waste of space. You're spoiled for restaurants in LA so eat out. Although having said that, the room service menu is really very good and the wine list really compliments the offerings. On my first night, after a long flight and day of work, I turned off my phone, put on the huge cozy robe, ordered great food and wine, lit a candle, and watched telly. Totally relaxed!
I had a very comfortable stay here, I felt safe, and well looked after. The bar was great -- just to get one drink while you're waiting to meet your friends/colleagues. Oh and if you're on foot, you're a 2 min walk to Starbucks and 10 mins to a CVS pharmacy.

I am rating this hotel solely based on the pool. Because, well, in LA, what better than hotel pools to make sure your tan is well maintained. Pricy beverages but a killer pina colada that's worth the money, and their poki stack is pretty pitch perfect too. Hello, mangos! Appeasing my affinity for tropical fruit beside, this is a gem of an oasis in the heart of Beverly Hills. The smaller pool area was surrounded in lush greenery. Had some very nice, calm young people (not a drunken hipster in an American Apparel swimsuit in sight!), good area for sun and also nice furniture to hide in the shade. Decent sound system, and I bet if this place wasn't a spot that celebs probably go to when hiding away to recover from their plastic surgery, this could give the Downtown Standard a nice, mellow, low-key run for their money on the weekend sun and fun pool sesh with the galpals.

i really like this hotel! i usually stay at the standard downtown, but it seems to have gone downhill the past few times i've stayed there. the mosaic is tiny (i think only four floors tall), but it's very clean and well-kept. there's not much of a scene (both the restaurant and bar were empty) but it's close to some good shopping, including saks, neimans, rodeo dr and barneys. i ended up walking over to the four seasons and having dinner at wolfgang puck's new steak house, CUT.
the rooms are spacious and there are some nice touches, like gourmet coffee, bvlgari bath products, bathroom french doors, bose stereo systems, and turn down service with mint tea. really comfortable hotel all in all!

I like it when a hotel tries, and this one tries. The details, however, disappoint. It leans more toward a 4th star, but you can see for yourself ...
- They're located in a beautiful residential area, and have their own parking lot, pool, bar, and restaurant. All of these are very quaint, well appointed - and small.
- They're far away from "action" other than dining and shopping. They're mere walking distance from the infamous shops of Beverly Hills (Saks and Neiman Marcus are closest).
- Their site lists amenities, and hypes up many. Some any hotel would offer (complimentary stationery?), some they don't actually offer (cordless phones and ample desk space).
- The rooms are very cute, and have a soft perfume (like the lobby at Mandalay Bay in Vegas).
- The beds are large, and do indeed have long down body-pillows. The pillows, however, aren't soft, and neither is the bed.
- The decor is lovely, the halls are lovely, there's your own personal lion's head knocker, doorbell, and a plated room number on the wall. Great carpeting and coloring. Bright and chic-ly classy hallways.
- You get a lovely bed table to have tea or breakfast on in bed.
- The coffee/tea service is in the tiny closet.
- The closet ... is tiny. There's no room for both your clothes and your luggage.
- They charmingly leave you a witty note with a witty snack/beverage of some sort, complimentary, when you first arrive and each night of your stay.
- The tv is large, you get a bose stereo, that is always turned softly to something soothing at turn-down service.
- I left a gazillion clothes on my bed one day, and when I returned to see the turn down service - my clothes were piled (not neatly) on the chaise longue. So the bed was inviting, but my clothes were a mess.
- I asked to be booked in a quiet room. They put me in a room next to the service stairwell, which the staff uses frequently to deliver papers and room service. Thus I enjoyed a lot of door slamming and the sound of someone running up and down the service stairwell.
- The desk space is half taken over by goodies for you to eat (buy). So their promise of ample workspace for business? No good.
- The bathroom counter is 80% taken over by their (purchase only) spa products. The bathroom decor is very nice (marble, great fixtures, cute doors, everything clean and functioning nicely). A small space for doing makeup/hair but great for showers/baths. Dim lighting. They offer Bulgari Green Tea amenities for complimentary consumption.
- I was annoyed by how some things were great (Bulgari products) but they were always offset by something annoying (a whole slew of products for purchase where I'd like to put my own personal bath kit). I'd have let the annoying stuff go, but I had service issues.
- Issues: Desk staff seems generally inexperienced, or lazy. I showed up with a membership card to what I think is their only hospitality partnership (Luxe hotels) but the desk person had no idea what I was talking about. Also, poor attitude from the staff in general. If you work in Beverly Hills, act like it. Go stay at Four Seasons to get what I mean. For what I'm paying you, show some respect. They were minimally polite. I often got rudeness, shortness, or impatience on the phone, especially when I had multiple questions. Sometimes they were in a good mood, sometimes not. Too hit and miss. Maybe I wasn't obnoxious and raining diamonds like they're used to. That doesn't mean I don't have money to spend, it just means I've got more class than you're used to.
I left a comment on my room card and got a call from the manager, who once I spoke seemed "surprised" didn't apologize, and probably didn't really care or do anything about it.
Go stay at the Sunset Marquis, they've got it down.

Surprisingly, LA is not a great hotel town. It is very easy to drop a lot of money and not get very much in return. I'm in LA fairly frequently and I generally try to stay in different places in my quest to find a good, solid home away from home. So far I'm still looking. The Mosaic was the most recent attempt. Miriam's review is good and accurate. Sort of a quiet location within walking distance of much (if you're brave enough to walk in LA). Some of the front desk staff was super snooty but everyone else (especially the bartender Armando) was extremely friendly and nice. The rooms were a bit small but the Bulgari amenities were good. The bed was comfy though it did lean a bit on the side with the telephone. The gym was small and windowless but adequate. No one seemed to use the pool as it was small and more a decorative feature for the patio area. There was comfy seating and little mini cabanas by the pool. Lots of candles at night. The hotel has a private feel and was never crowded. Downsides? Ask for a room on the pool side as deliveries are made to the front of the hotel and we frequently heard truck back-up alarms in the am. The valet parking was overpriced. There was no active vent in the bathroom (only passive) so it got hot and steamy in there when the door was closed. Not always so nice. Also, no locks on the bathroom door. Too much junk for sale in the room. It is a hotel room, not a gift shop. If you don't have a laptop there was a computer tucked into a armoire in the lobby (but no chair to sit). When we needed to screen a DVD reel the staff was nice enough to put a player in our room upon request. They even hooked it up for us. Bose radios in the room (with mini audio connector for iPods) was nice but booming base from neighboring rooms was a problem. I'd stay here again but I wasn't thrilled with it.
