5 reviews for The Moore Building
If you've ever driven by this building you know it's different.
If you've ever walked by and you've seen Domo Japones in one corner and the Garden Lounge on the next corner then you know that this place is cool. Especially on the second Saturday of the month when it's officially gallery night.
If you've ever been to a party in this building, you know it's a beautiful, enormous location that holds some of the best events held in this nightlife loving city.
If you've ever been to the Moore Space, the gallery located on the 2nd floor then you know that the Moore building houses some of the smartest exhibits in Miami.
They say some buildings have personalities, if so then you know this one is a party loving, art star with a thing for sushi.

This building is just minutes from my home and made my Thursday night a remarkable one. I went to the Genart event last night to have a few cocktails and see if I saw something I would like by an up and coming designer. There were bags and jewelry and exciting clothes everywhere. The place was packed and this building was the castle that held it all. The rich dark wood staircases and the quirky colored doors, brought a sense of a time long ago with the fresh contemporary style that anything vintage brings to the table nowadays. This building si sophisticated without the pretentiousness, I could booty dance on the 3rd floor and waltz on the dground level and feel equally comfortable doing both. It was beautiful, it seemed so full of history and definitely a stellar place to host anyting. I can't wait to have a reason to go back here!
Such a beautiful building!!! I've been there twice now for events and each time I'm just awed by the inside of the building. The solid white walls and the contemporary molds with the traditional dark wood stair case really makes you appreciate the finer details of the space. It's a great place to host events whether for an art show, a shopping event or even a wedding. It's a chic venue where you almost have to do nothing to create an upscale atmosphere. There are 4 floors but usually only the first three are utilized but are all open in the middle so you can gaze up and down to see the action on all of the floors. If you are looking to host an event for a few hundred people I would definitely recommend this space.

first, their statement...
THE MOORE SPACE/MISSION STATEMENT
The Moore Space is dedicated to presenting international contemporary art forms. It will achieve this through an experimental program of cross-disciplinary exhibitions, performances, artists and curators residencies and public programs which reflect the state of contemporary art today: new forms, new voices and new thought.
this is really one of the places pushing the limit in miami. there's always something going on and most of it is really out there! this is not one of those places that pops up when art basel is in town. they're here and they're here to stay. in addition to hosting performances, exhibitions, and installations, the moore building also has an ongoing lecture series.
check their schedule to see if something interests you... if not, go during the gallery walk (art + design night). i heart second saturdays

The Moore Building is one of the major artistic venue in Miami's Design District that gives the entire neighborhood a certain vibe and groove. It is a fun place to be, to gawk at art, spaces, and people's creativity (unless if someone rented most of the space for a huge mammoth New York-style party decorating all space in red, with some geishas in kimonos dancing (with the dressed-up trendy partygoers) to a spiked music being played by a DJ. If this is the case, you're only left outside to admire such weird cultured excess through the building's huge windows that flank its walls.
Can we say "Oh... soooo MIAMI!" 'Cuz I did that when I actually saw all this last Saturday.
What was I doing here? It was Art + Design Night in the Design District, a time when everyone comes out to look at the numerous art galleries on and near the area along NE 40th St between N Miami Ave and NE 2nd Ave from 6 pm to 10 pm. There were hors d'oeuvres, champagne, mixed drinks and all. The 2nd Saturdays of every month brings the Design District alive at night and it is the place to be to be seen.
One of my favorite place to be in the Design District at this time is the Garden Lounge, right next to The Moore Building - it is sleek, modern, and outdoorsy (pray it doesn't rain) that people go there to lounge around and drink mixed drinks that are served from numerous bars in and around the area. It's a good place to be to chill with friends and to listen to music (although it is not the only place to do so in the Design District on the 2nd Saturdays of the month).
There was supposed to be free valet parking, but I had arrived a little bit later after the start of the block party, so I had to park on my own. But that wasn't terribly difficult to do especially considering how hard it can be to park at South Beach.
So, if you happen to be in town during a 2nd Saturday of the month, I recommend you to pay a visit to the Design District!
