WOW! This is a must when you are in the White Mountains. The crunchy french toast that is coated in granola and cornflakes is delicious for breakfast. I was able to get a combo with the crunchy french toast, eggs, bacon, and potatoes which were all done very well. The standout here seems to be the burgers with angus meat. The special burger with blue cheese, mushrooms, and bacon was the best burger I have ever had! YUMMMM!

I had a truly excellent burger here. One of the best I have ever had. Unfortunately, my wife was served a salad where the lettuce had clearly not been thoroughly washed. There was dirt and sand all over the lettuce.
What was truly disappointing was the service. When we pointed out the dirty lettuce, the server didn't seem to care and just took the salad away without even an apology. Additionally, the server never offered to refill our drinks - iced tea and water. We had to ask for ketchup and mustard, and waited a long time for them to be brought to our table. The place was not very busy while we were there.
If I'm ever in Gorham again, I would probably give the restaurant another chance. The burger was that good. -

The Moonbeam Cafe has moved to Lancaster, NH. They will open in late spring, 2012.

I never thought that I would have one of the best breakfasts in my life in the off-season skiing mountain in NH.
The place has really nice decor and attentive staff. We arrived as early as 10 am and were the first customers. Ordered Eggs Benedictine with Garlic Herb Bread and Smashies. It was awesome. The bread was homebaked and it tasted so good. The server also provided their homemade strawberry jam. My friend got ham omelette and he liked it. We love our food. Also, the orange juice was really large.
The restaurant building must have been more than 100 year old. It was used as commercial building before. The restroom was super cute and had the old-fashioned toilet. -

I was completely taken by this culinary indulgence in Gorham. During lunch after hiking Mount Madison, we couldn't stop eating ever though we were full - total yumminess factor. My friend had the Wicked Healthy Salad (a surprisingly flavorful lentil and bulgar wheat salads and sprouted seeds) and I had Kelley's Turkey Panini with artichokes and roasted red peppers, which I'm determined to replicate at home. Our new friends at Moonbeam convinced us to try to the Strawberry Shortcake, which quickly confirmed our suspicion that we'd found a little piece of heaven in Gorham.
Lunch was so amazing that we dragged our friends back for brunch on Sunday. The murmurs of happiness and the two hours we spent eating and talking about the food clearly communicated their satisfaction.
Oh and if the delicious food wasn't enough the husband wife team made us feel like we were at the home and shared culinary secrets and tips. I will need to plan another 6 hour trip soon to explore of chefs menu further! -

We were on a road trip through the white mountains and got a hotel in Gorham. Looking for a breakfast place and thought to try yelp. Found amazing reviews and it was just down the street.
First, the building in which the restaurant is housed is beautiful! and has such history and character to it. It is sunny and feels like you are eating in someone's home.
I ordered my standard fare of two eggs, toast and something potato. Got two eggs scrambled, toast (home made tomato basil garlic bread) and smashies (potato pancake). Let me tell you the bread was out of this world. If I could find bread like that on a daily basis, I would be eating bread for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was just crazy delicious and I am craving it now as I write. The smashies were delicious too. It is a potato pancake made of potato, scallions and sour cream. Yum, right!
The food was served on a beautiful dish that looked like it had a story. Got pipping hot coffee and chai tea in jumbo, pottery type cups. They were so homey looking with so much content.
Also, tried the pancakes, which were delicious and way bigger than expected.
If you are in the Gorham or nearby area, make a beeline for this place. I am 100% sure that you will not be disappointed. Please try the Tomato, Basil, Garlic bread! Oh, I wish I could get some of that now.
Service was perfect too! Love it! -

By far the best breakfast I have ever had. They never cease to amaze me, it keeps me coming back time and time again. You haven't lived until you have had a Moonbeam Muffin with homemade blueberry pomegranate jam and maple butter. They always make sure they add that little intimate detail to every plate. My favorite place to get breakfast.

I never expected to have one of the best breakfasts I've ever had in sleepy little Gorham, NH, but it's true. The Moonbeam Cafe is an amazing little gem in the heart of the White Mountains. This past summer, I've been to the Moonbeam twice before two different backpacking trips on the Presidential Range. The first time I was amazed, but assumed it was a fluke. The second time, I knew it had been the real deal.
The building itself is charming old shop with tin ceilings and walls. The bathroom is an amazing old bath and shaving room, with a great pull-chain toilet.
The menu is perfect, with plenty of choices, but not overwhelming. The muffins were top notch. The pancakes and eggs were all delicious and perfectly cooked. The bread
The service was friendly, prompt, but not at all pushy. We never felt rushed. The second time we went to the Moonbeam, we arrived just a few minutes before closing time. I asked if we were too late to be seated, and the waitress laughed and said, "We're open!" I was really impressed by the staff.
If you're in Gorham, NH and looking for breakfast or lunch, you should make sure to stop at this amazing little breakfast/lunch place. -

Wasn't sure about this place, as the reviews were excellent, but looked a little deserted from outside. However, as soon as we went inside, I was VERY glad we went. This is a great little place in Gorham! Pleasantly surprised by one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life! Staff was super friendly, and met the chef and his family. They even gave us a free coke float. Great food and atmosphere. A must for any travelers!

Best Reuben in NH. Great fresh breakfasts, awesome old storefront building with tin ceilings. Total find! A little chilly inside, but warm service and great food!

Mouth watering food, prepared with local and other ingredients. The small dinning room offers cozy seating arrangements for one to five people. However, arrive early if you are in a rush or plan for take out service as there are only about eight tables available.
Freshly baked bread and muffins on their own or paired with other food will surely please your morning appetite. -

I have to take off a star because Lance doesn't work there anymore, so you don't manage to get 4-5 refills of coffee in a sitting. NEVERTHELESS, Moonbeam (formerly Loaf Around) continues to have the best pancakes ever, and the best breads around. The last time I came here, I ordered a raspberry pancake and received a raisin pancake! They then brought out a raspberry pancake shortly thereafter.
The bathroom has a pull-chain toilet AND a bathtub! -

This random stop in New Hampshire turned out to be a fantastic surprise. The food was delicious and the atmosphere has great charm. Do not miss out on the home made bread, it is outstandingly delicious.

If you are in the North Conway area, head north for a great breakfast or lunch. The Moonbeam is a gem of a cafe hidden in the Majesty of the White Mountains. The food is fresh and utterly amazing. You won't be disappointed!

Well worth the drive out of my way. I am going here again the next time I am out that way. The cakes and real maple syrup were awesome! Be prepared to wait on a Sunday morning.

Went on a recent Saturday morning, but were able to sit down right away. It took a while for the waitress to come take our order and then prepare it, but the food was excellent. I got the "Thru Hiker" which was 3 eggs, bacon, toast, french toast, and "smashies" which were delicious! I finished every bit on my plate. Very highly recommended.
Bring your cash, because they don't accept credit cards. -

My Daughter, my wife and I were down in NH for a family vacation to the local theme parks. We used Yelp to track down somewhere for breakfast. The Moonbeam came up first, and with other great reviews, quickly became our choice destination.
The food was simply amazing! You have to try the "smashie" as a side dish with whatever you order. The eggs were cooked perfectly and they even serve veggie friendly bacon and sausage.
The choice of breads was astounding, and even more so to learn that they make ALL of them there!
Do not pass by this place without at least a taste! Just don't forget cash, they don't take credit or debit! -

Fantastic breakfast....and very filling. The cinnamon walnut crunch French toast was wonderful...as was the Mexican omelette. Go there hungry because they have generous portions.

In the charming town of Gorham, we found this delightful breakfast place with fair-trade coffee from Kaffe Magnum Opus and friendly staff. If tables are full (and they probably are on a weekend), put your name in, and go across the street to the great little independent book shop.

This is a clever little place tucked in on a side street off of Main. Had the German omelet with vegie sausage. A very vegetarian friendly restaurant. Liked it so much that we returned the next morning for another breakfast. This time I had a healthy whole wheat pancake with blueberries, a rarity in most restaurants. Delicious breakfast once again without destroying the diet. Blueberry coffee was wonderful as well.

If you happen to find yourself in Gorham, don't miss this place. It is housed in an old bathhouse (and still has an old toilet) and a barbershop.
Though we didn't have the poached eggs, everyone around us did and absolutely loved them. There's a full menu of poached eggs, so you'll have lots of choices.
I had the German omelet which is a 3-egg omelet with sausage, cheddar cheese and apple slices. Excellent!
If you get the choice, definitely get the "smashies", which are essentially potato pancakes. Killer! -

I'll have to agree with Jack R. from Burlington, VT in that this one was of the best breakfasts that I've ever had! The owners and wait staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. They even brought out some homemade jams that were out of this world! Two of us in the party had the breakfast burritos, one with sweet potato fries on the side and the other with a potato pancake that was amazing! The coffee cups were nice and large and they have a great muffin and bread selection. The cafe is located in a real neat building with tin walls and ceilings. I almost hate giving a good review because I'd like to keep such a gem all to myself!

This is an awesome place for breakfast. The food is amazing but it does take a while for them to get it out to you so I wouldn't recommend it if you are in a rush. It is worth the wait, however, if you have the time. The owner is the chef and his wife works out front. They are two very nice people who take the time to talk to their customers. If you are ever in Northern New Hampshire I recommend you visit the Moonbeam.

My family and I are frequent to the Gorham area and were fortunate enough to have stumbled upon the Moonbeam cafe. We were so impressed with the quality, quantity and taste of the food that everytime we were back in Gorham we would make sure to hit the Moonbeam.
Our last visit just this past week in January, we were saddened to find out that it had been sold and is now under new management. I am very unhappy to report that unfortunately I cannot say that I would go out of my way again to go here. The food was good, as was the service however nothing special and the changes that were made were not necessarily for the good. I had the smashies with pancakes- I found the pancake average at best and I did not like the smashie neither did my dad. They got rid of several other items such as the thru hiker and the dishes with asparagus and the bread did not seem freshly baked.
Unfortunately Gorham is not home to many restaurants of high caliber so I hate to say that this restaurant is not great but considering I have been going there for years I am basing my review upon past experiences.
