After moving from Austin, the hubby and I looked far and wide for a great vet. We were accustomed to our bad ass vets in ATX and jumped vets until we found the right one for our two cats and Bichon Frise.
After we found Montrose Vet Clinic, our searching stopped, and we've been taking our fur kids here for over three years.
Almost every time I call, the staff is helpful and patient. If they can't answer my questions, they find a vet to ask or get on the phone to help me out! Talk about service!
When we come in, the office is clean and busy (always a good sign), and the dogs look happy to be there! I know, weird right? But really, if all the dogs look freaked out and stressed, it kinda makes you wonder what they really do to them when they "take them to the back." dum dum dum duuuuuuuuuuuum...
But I digress...
We never have to wait very long to see the vet, and speaking of vets, Dr. K is an absolute gem! She has worked wonders with my pooch and kitties. I have to say that she is the first vet that my pets have not peed or pooed on during the visit! And this is after three years!!!
So happy pets means happy Abby. Thank you, Montrose Vet Clinic!
After adopting my pug, Biscuit, from PugHearts rescue last week, she got a little respiratory infection and needed to see a vet. I remembered the great revues for Montrose Vet on Yelp and gave them a quick call. The owner, Dr. McDaniel, saw her first thing in the morning (I was there at 7:30 am), but they kept her there for observation so I could go to work.
They called a short while later with the diagnosis and a thorough "adopted dog" work up. How awesome!
Biscuit already feels better, as does her mommy, and we would highly recommend Montrose Vet to our four-legged friends.
Dr. Catherine Powell is the best! She helped me find a stray puppy a fantastic home! She also helped me with puppy raising/care 101 all the way. She truly loves animals.. and humans too!
If Tex, my original yelper, is happy, then I'm happy.
After browsing a few reviews online, I called around to see who could take my pup last minute ... right before Memorial weekend ... without a "walk-in fee."
I arrived almost 30 minutes early (I have my reasons), but as a first-time patient, I was able to fill out Tex's paperwork during the wait, and even got in earlier than expected.
I didn't have a vet preference, so we were appointed to Dr. Katie Kaczmarek. And I'm so glad we were. As a fellow lab owner (two to be exact), she is so passionate and knowledgeable of this particular breed. And Tex loved her. His tail and legs were going nuts as she rubbed his belly.
The vet techs were also a pleasure: all animal lovers, compassionate and very professional. My poor Tex had to go through a series of shots (three) and some other uncomfortable tests, but the staff was fast yet gentle.
He's up for one last shot for the year--and quite possibly a snippety snip session--and I'm positive we'll be back at The Montrose Veterinary Clinic.
My only complaint is with the front desk staff. They are generally just not really into helping you get out quickly. Also, the last time I called to schedule my dog's yearly shots I booked with Dr. Box. When I arrived, with two dogs, I was told Dr. Box was not in and asked if I would like to reschedule. Nobody apologized or offered an explanation as to why i wasn't called. I was able to get in with another doctor, who was fabulous as usual!
After Oliver's surgery they sent a sweet card, and the reminders they send in the mail are nice and not pushy.
We first started visiting Montrose vet because of its convenient location, but we have stayed with them for two years because the doctors genuinely do care about our dogs.
I've been super happy w/ this vet for the little dude. I'm shocked that parking has never been an issue w/ it's location on Montrose. Every single staff member there has always been great. As in they actually seem to enjoy working there. I don't even get that at the doctor I've been going to since I was 13.
Probably the best part is that they are very good, but not pushy about when lil buddy needs to go get a booster or what not. And why I appreciate that, is:
A. I literally forget my own birthday and
B. they don't try to couple it w/ some BS procedure like " And of course we'll need to protract his uvela and ovela to keep them from touching." My last dentist pulled some shit like that right after telling me my teeth were perfect.
So basically I like Hondo's vet better than I like my own primary care givers. Sweet. Hmmm.... I wonder what they charge to protract.....
This place really seems to love your pets and does a great job keeping mine in top shape. Prices are reasonable, and the staff has always been helpful for me -- though they're sometimes quite busy. The only issue is that they treat dogs and cats in the same rooms (at separate times, of course), whereas a handful of other places might have separate "dogs only" or "cats only" screening rooms, so the fur/dander/smells don't mix. If you're a dog owner who's allergic to cats (like me), bring your allergy pills.
