Review from Liana L.
Daly City, CA
Service was AMAZING and top notch from the moment we checked in. Dean made our stay more comfortable and better than what we were expecting. We received a complimentary upgrade to a bigger room with a better view (view of the cave, vineyards), indulged in the free bottle of wine and water in the room, and even utilized their free movie checkout service (free bag of popcorn included!). Did I mention this was all free?
Hotel itself is nice but it's located in the middle of a corporate park so that was a little weird as we were driving in but it didn't affect our stay. They offer a free shuttle to downtown Napa if you don't want to drive and also a free wine tasting card for guests. The room was nice and very clean, good amenities. Small flat screen tv, dvd player, fridge. Free wifi but reception was poor. -

The Meritage Resort and Spa is a beautiful hotel. I recently stayed here over New Year's weekend and I loved it. This is probably one of a few resorts in Napa with a tasting room and a vineyard. The tasting room & spa are both located in the underground "cave." I didn't get to experience the spa but I heard great things about it. There's a huge heated pool & jacuzzi.
They are currently expanding one part of the hotel, so there's construction going on, but you'll hardly notice it while you're there.
One thing about this hotel is that it's kind of out of the way & south of everything in Napa, so if you want to visit a lot of wineries, it's not central. However, if you're planning on visiting Napa, Yountville, Rutherford & all the areas more south, then I would recommend it.
Customer service is fantastic. We originally booked for Friday-Saturday, but due to some scheduling conflicts, we had to reschedule for Saturday-Sunday. No problem. Changing the reservation just took a quick call and no changes to the rate of the room. Checkout took 10 seconds & they email you your receipt.
I would definitely stay here again. Next time I'll book a spa treatment.Listed in: Napa & Sonoma, Travel

Review from Tracie F.
We checked in and checked out within 30 minutes...now let me tell you why...
It actually started BEFORE arrival. I called the concierge a couple of days before arriving to make a reservation for the Round Pond olive oil tasting. I called a few times and got no answer. I finally left a message and sadly never got a call back. I FINALLY got a hold of someone and the gentleman was really nice but told me that he would give me the number to mill to make my own reservations since there was nothing special he could do for me booking wise. I called them myself.
Upon arriving to this esteemed hotel I was quite disappointed to find that it was in an industrial area surrounded by construction. It was totally not what I was expecting. It actually kind of look liked a high class Days Inn. Not very attractive from the exterior.
The lobby has a pretty poor set up since there is not a very large space to accommodate a line at the front desk. We had to ask one another who was there first. We got the keys to the room and headed up stairs to be even further disappointed. The decor was basic and quite honestly not very attractive. The bathroom was equipped with a shower with black grout. Sadly, it was supposed to be off-white. The worst part? THE BED!!!!! I am definitely not a bed snob but this one was seriously hands down the worst I have ever experienced. It was the main reason we checked out.
We called the manager, Evan, and he invited us to meet him downstairs to discuss our experience. We expressed our concerns and he was quick to apologize. He asked how he could make our stay better. Honestly, since he could not change the location of the hotel or the quality of the bed, there was not much that he could do.
Long story short...we just didn't like it there. If you are interested in the spa see my review about that. It was beautiful but slightly disappointing...especially if you are attempting to redeem a yelp offer. -

This is the same time share company that my sister and I just stayed in in Kauai. The condo was roomy and perfect for the two of us. The bar down in the lobby was perfect for killing time. When I checked in on either Yelp or Facebook, I got a free gift - a very nice bottle opener! I wish I had brought my swimsuit. I would definitely stay here again and get a facial next time too!
If you don't want to sit though the time share spiel, say you are married and your spouse is somewhere else. You both have to be present to be sold to. :) -

Monterey Park, CA
The property is very nice and according to my wife and sister in law the spa there is pretty decent too (albeit overpriced).
I don't really have much else to say since we did not stay at the Meritage. We stayed at Vino Bello next door...because after doing some research I found out is newer and cheaper then the Meritage.
I'm not sure how the inside of the rooms at the Meritage are but from the pictures on their webistes I think they looked smaller and not as nice as the ones at the Vino Bello. -
Review from Bonnie O.
This is a return stay. Our first stay was by chance. This time it was by choice. We reserve our "room" on the Vino Bella Resort portion of the property. Vino Bella is managed by Shell Vacation Properties and each rental has a full kitchen, bath, living room and washer. Being able to do a couple loads of laundry mid-trip allows more room for omiyage!
I love the special accents like five-head shower and the fireplace (something very special to this Hawaiian!) The resort sits on it's own vineyard and management provides you with a bottle of their wine at no extra charge! I love walking the grounds - the views and sunrises are breathtaking!
Other appreciated amenities are a nice pool, free 24-hour gym (they even have yoga mats!) a nice restaurant and wine cave. Oh and there are a ton of outlets to charge your devices AND free WI-FI! Whoot! -

My mom, sister, and I stayed here for the weekend for my sister's birthday. The spa was great and the hotel service was just as good. My only "thing" was that room service was expensive for the quantity of food you get but that didn't affect the quality of our stay or our overall experience. Very tranquil and serene, which was sort of weird at first because the resort is located in a business park so we weren't sure what to expect but it all worked out and we plan to definitely visit again. As soon as we possibly can. I recommend you visit.

I wanted to chant "I am the 1%" as I sipped my Trinitas wine at the posh Napa resort. It felt pretty exclusive and snooty to enter this place. While all those goofballs are in a tent in SF protesting the free markets, I'm enjoying luxury and sipping some complimentary vino. What I don't get is that the cost of Meritage isn't really that much relative to a normal hotel. So while you live like a king during your time at the resort, you pay like a pauper. That's an experience that the other 99% can afford to enjoy as well.

First time at the Meritage, here on business. It is in a commercial area which is strange driving in, but once you're on-property it's fine. Our initial room was in the Merlot building. Gorgeous, spacious suite with an outdoor patio. Fridge, microwave, washer-dryer, the works. Only one problem. No Wi-Fi. Since the building is pretty new I am sure they will offer Wi-Fi in the future but no Internet access, for a business traveler, simply doesn't work.
Long story short, we're moved to a new room in the main building. Nice-sized room, but no microwave nor patio. Great view of the pool, vines, and entrance to the Trinitas wine cave. And, with Wi-Fi, a superb room indeed.
Side note here: the staff is phenomenal. Manny at the bell desk was not only absolutely helpful in bringing all of our luggage from one room to the next, he also was kind enough to go retrieve some toiletries I'd left behind in the first room due to not being able to focus because the fire alarm was going off inside the whole Merlot building (story for another time, but it wasn't me. Honestly).
The bar in the main building (don't know if it has a name, just off the lobby on the left-hand side), true to form, provided excellent service. Our server was there whenever we wanted to order another round, or dinner, but never hovered. Nor did she appear so busy that we were forgotten, and the place got pretty busy as the World Series was being broadcast on the telly above the bar.
Room-service breakfast: we each ordered the Eggs Meritage. Like Benedict, but atop a disc of polenta. Again, great staff interaction - they were friendly to a fault and let us know exactly how long it would be before our food arrived. Great folks you have, Meritage, hopefully you pay them well. Breakfast was good - not phenomenal, but overall 3 stars.
The Trinitas wine cave: there was a special business function in the wine cave where three local wineries were offering tasting - the cave is gorgeously lit and very cozy, considering its size. Great venue. There was a special dinner afterward for thirty folks (no invite for me) and the long table, set with snow-white linens, glistening flatware and glassware and gorgeous tapered candles looked striking. What an amazing spot for a special dinner! Perhaps next time...
Room-service dinner: I ordered a green salad, Steak Frites and Jack Daniels bread pudding. Green salad: good stuff - mostly greens, few beet chunks, few halved cherry tomatoes. Nice light dressing. Steak Frites: holy hell. Gooooood stuff. I am a meat elitist and turn my nose up at anything that even hints at fat and gristle. This hunk 'o' meat was perfectly prepared, sliced, and honest to goodness, I completely cleaned my plate. The frites: thin, perfectly cooked, some were translucent in all their glory. Wow. The only disappointment was the bread pudding. On the dry side, it could have used about 5x the sauce. I tasted apricots. I tasted good bread pudding egginess. I did NOT, however, taste Jack Daniel's. Anywhere near the plate. No hint of bourbon warmth, nothing whatsoever. If I'd know I was going to get plain old bread pudding, I would've gone with the chocolate. Argh. I know that dessert can be iffy for a kitchen as it is overall omitted from the meal, but for those of us dessert-lovers, it can make or break the meal. It is, literally, the last thing your patrons are going to taste before they leave your restaurant and as such, it needs to be "holy-crap-I-want-to-wallow-in-this" good. My bread pudding was lacking.
Things to keep in mind: this location is not Napa-proper. It's south of the general "Napa" area and not really centrally located to anything other than the industrial park. That said, these folks did a great job with the location they chose. From our third-floor room, the view is nothing but big, azure pool, wine cave, and vines as far as you can see. If I didn't know better, you'd not have any inclination that you were in a commercial area. -

Wow, this place was really an impressive experience.
Location is in my opinion perfect. It's set aside from the downtown area so it's a little bit mote quiet and reserved, but at the same time it's not so far away that it's inconvenient. Set near a business park and even off a major road, there's practically no road noise.
The rooms are excellent. For the price, being in Napa, and near peak season, I don't think you could get much more for your money. Although I'm not a Napa regular so I suppose it's up for debate.
The layout is very ideal. The downstairs and lobby is very warm and inviting, while managing to be classy yet unpretentious. the patio and pool areas have enough shade to accommodate most, even during busy days. There's a bocce ball court behind the pool for a quick match. My favorite part of the grounds would be the cave. Underneath a small vineyard hill, there is a very cool cave/cellar type room which is perfect for a rented spot. I went to a wedding here and it was perhaps the coolest setting I've ever been in.
The staff is very accommodating. Only real complaint was that cleaning rooms was slow(finally mine was done by about 3).
The complimentary Zin they leave in the room was one of my favorite wines all weekend and added to the Napa experience.
Overall Well I'd say a 4.5 but we'll round up for good measure.
I'd go back in a heartbeat!Listed in: Napa trip

My BF took me to Napa for a much needed out of town weekend. He booked us a room at the Meritage resort. Coincidentally I had booked us a spa day at Spa Terrace which is at the spa at the resort. It worked out perfectly. When he booked the room he was given 2 Queen beds, since they were out of King beds. We were also promised a room with a view of the vineyard. He asked if any opened up that we'd get it. When we arrived it looked like they were doing construction and building more wings to the resort. Thankfully it didn't intrude on our room or stay. We checked in around 3:30pm and were told that our room wasn't ready (check in is at 4pm) but we were going to get one with a King bed. So we hung out by the pool area, grabbed a drink and relaxed. Around 4:30pm we checked in again and it still wasn't ready. Our spa appointment was at 5pm so we decided to leave our bags and check in afterwards.
**See Spa Terrace review**
We finally checked into our room after the spa appointment and to our dismay, our room was on the first floor and faced the pool. Definitely lacked privacy. The bed was great. King as promised. We also received a bottle of wine in the room complimentary from the hotel. We didn't get a chance to do the vineyard self tour or check out the golf course. We stuck by the pool because it was so hot out that it was mandatory that we took a dip. I was definitely happy with our stay. The room was clean minus the view that was promised. The pool was a nice place to relax and take a dip. The spa was amazing. The highlight of our trip was sitting by the pool in a lounge change, sipping on an ice cold beer and just relaxing. It was probably the happiest moment I had while there. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay. -

Disclosure: we stayed here courtesy of family who had purchased a one night stay at an auction.
Now usually when you stay somewhere for free you feel happier, more willing and generous with your Yelp rating, but this wasn't the case.
The decor is dated (think 90's), it's out in the middle of an industrial park (try going for a run outside! We did and we ended up running through charming views of the train tracks and metal factories).
We tried to enjoy a dip in the jacuzzi but there were four obnoxious people already there drinking and showing off their uhm not so glamorous bodies.
Concierge tried to sell us into going to a timeshare presentation - really??? No thanks.
It was free and I am thankful as we got to see Napa Valley, St. Helena, and Sonoma (you definitely need a car as everything is a drive away) but I don't understand how someone can justify paying for this place. -

Nice resort with nice amenities. I was here on a work trip so I didn't have a chance to enjoy it but the pool and spa area looked awesome overlooking the vineyards and wine cave. Wine tasting is available in the wine cave, on site! The gym stays open 24 hrs a day. The actual guest room is a little dated. The carpets, bedding, chairs are worn and are starting to look faded. It looks like they are expanding the resort and there is construction going on in the adjacent lot. Just make sure your room isn't facing the construction area!

Came here last summer for my birthday weekend. We were given a room with a nice patio which gave us a beautiful view of the pool and vineyards. Gorgeous. The room was clean with comfortable beds. It was a little cramped in the room and the bathroom. It was pretty crowded with two girls trying to get ready but we managed. The hotel is a 10 minute drive to downtown Napa which is fine by me. We enjoyed sitting by the pool relaxing and walking the grounds. They are expanding the property and there was some pretty heavy construction going on but it didnt ruin the experience at all. I didnt see it or hear it. Nicely done! I was definitely happy with my stay here.

While reading this, know that this review is purely for the spa and not the hotel/resort itself.
On a weekend trip up to Napa, my boyfriend and I decided to have a couples massage to help end the trip. We signed up for the eat, spa , love, which consisted of a 80 min massage, a 15 min freshening facial, and a wine and fruit platter with a glass of wine each. Great package but PRICEY, and it's not an accident that word is in caps.
The environment itself was very nice. It's like a man-made cave so you can imagine that it's not well lit to create a relaxing ambiance. If you get there earlier than your appointment, you can enjoy their Jacuzzi and steam room located inside the locker rooms. The Jacuzzi is not very big, but when I went, it was only me, so the size was nice for one person. =) The steam room felt very mystic, which I enjoyed a lot as well. It's not very wide but it's long (kind of like a tunnel).
5-10 mins before our appt, my bf and I met back up in their relaxation lounge which had really nice, plush chairs, magazine, water and tea. After a few minutes, our masseuse's met up with us and took us to our room. The couples massage room was very nice. It was a very big room with two massage beds, and a Jacuzzi by the back wall. The Jacuzzi is for another couple massage package, but after seeing that you get your private room for the Jacuzzi, I kind of wish we had that instead... Anyway, the massage felt good, the ambiance was very relaxing (maybe even a little too dark for my taste.. ie dimming lights too much) and the facial was refreshing as they said it would be. I was very satisfied.
When we were done, our cheese and fruit platter was set up in the hallway and someone brought us our wine. After finishing that, we went back inside the locker rooms to their fairly well stocked showers and vanity areas. They had the basics like brushes, hair dryer, cotton balls etc. but nothing like Burke Williams. I have to say that I was very please with the way the showers were set up. They were smart enough to put lotion in the individual changing stalls with the showers. Very smart!
I knew we were probably the last ones there due to our late appointment time, but never once had I felt rushed to get out, major plus for that. The overall experience was great, but I'm not sure if it's really worth the price. I'm glad I tried it with my boyfriend, but is it worth paying that much to do it again? Probably not... hence the deduction in star. -
Review from Elle W.

The reviews for this really-south-of-Napa resort are somewhat misleading. The place is not as good as some think and it is not as bad as some have portrayed in their writings on Yelp. It seems as if you have walked into a not-too-sophisticated traveler's idea of a tourist-centered Italy that needs some new furniture.
It is clean; staff members scurry about (some looking a touch frightened) and everyone wants to help, but I am not convinced their heart is in it. Some of the housekeeping staff were very helpful and efficent.
Note to management--do something about the tiny front entrance and the confusing greeting--there are too many people clustered around the concierge desk and doormen appear and disappear with no coherence.
Another Yelper wrote that there needs to be "snaps to Cinnamon." I agree. She was the best part of my visit--actually knew how to greet guests, check them in and was very informative and helpful.
Lovely pool and hot tub and firepit area.
You have to pay a fee to use the separate spa facilities located in the cave at the back of the property.
You will deal with thundering construction trucks as the property is expanding--I thought our room would shatter with the amount of noise and quaking under my feet--but the construction activity is accomplished during regular business hours. Don't plan to nap.
Napa itself is not far way--about 4 miles.Comment from Sheri T. of The Meritage Resort and Spa 3/30/2011

I went to the spa for a day for a massage and facial and I LOVED it. It's absolutely beautiful and the people there are so nice. They don't answer the phone much but you can leave a message with them or email them and they will get back to you. Now I just email them for an appointment. I'm taking my mom there for her birthday, I know she's going to love it.

Review from Chris B.
This review is specifically related to the food served at a recent corporate event I went to. Serving raw hamburger meat is never a good idea. We had these sliders as part of our appetizers, and maybe because they had to cook so many in a short amount of time they weren't served just rare - the inside of the patties were downright RAW. Luckily I didn't finish mine but I understand a few people in our company might have gotten sick. So hopefully someone reads this and will rectify this for the future. (I am sure they will).
My other "complaint" is the horrible wi-fi here (kept dropping in and out, very unreliable). And cell service is pretty horrid here as well, for some reason. I know, this may not be their fault but just letting people know. Maybe this part of Napa is a technological black hole or something.
Otherwise, the place is pretty nice. Service was top notch. Not the most picturesque location - its in the middle of a business/industrial park so not exactly the pristine Napa Valley views you might come to expect. (There is a hill with vineyards on it facing the rear of the property though, FYI). Also note they are about 4-5 miles away from downtown Napa for you those visiting without a car. Maybe that's why there's corporate events here - you're stuck! (haha)
And kudos for them including a free bottle of wine with your room. -

This place is AMAZING. I came here on 2 occasions and enjoyed both. One was for a bachelorette day, great to relax, unwind, and just have girl time. The 2nd was for my moms bday and from the moment we checked in it was 5 star service. The front desk guy was the only person we told it was her bday. We got a free bottle of wine in the room. Then at Spa Terra they greeted her with a bday welcome. For dinner at Siena restaurant they too welcomed us with bday greetings. It truly was a wonderful weekend.

Finally, a place that knows I am El Presidente.
A friend and I went here for our "Eat Pray Love" weekend. It really turned into: drink eat pray for no hangover weekend.
My friend is a bit of a "hotel snob" so she called this place no less than 4 times to ensure we had a patio room. When we checked in, we were immediately upgraded to a presidential suite, SWEET! The room was super big...sitting area, huge king size bed, and huge bathroom with tub and shower separate. O, did I mention we had a kitchen and dining room? Super cool.
I wish we were there for more than one night. The presidential suite we had hooked into another one next door, which was apparently a bachelorette party. I was too tired to crash that party and the walls were a little thin. Unfortunately we could hear them partying until really late.
The brunch there was ooooohhh so good. It was a buffett, but very well done with mimosas. They bill it as a mimosa brunch, but the mimosas aren't included and that ended up costing us a bit more than we anticipated. Whatever, it was so good. Anything you wanted: bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, waffles, pancakes...salad, cheeses, salami...the list goes on.
We also walked through the vineyard which has a super pretty view over the valley and there are lots of bunnies running in the field.
The spa is really cool. They won't let you just go in an use the facility unless it is a weekday, i.e. not have an appointment and go use the spa area, so that kinda stinks.
It is beautiful though.
The only thing I didn't like were the bellmen. When we arrived they didn't even come to help us with our stuff, so I decided to push it up to our room ourselves. There were two of them standing at the door and just looking at us like jackasses.
Then when we left there was only one valet guy and he left my car, unattended, with the keys in the front seat. I didn't think that was very professional.
Otherwise, great staff. We got a pizza from the downstairs lounge for dinner and she brought it out to us with our drinks poolside.
I do recommend the hotel if you want to do Sonoma one day and Napa the next or visa versa, because it is at a good juncture to start at the top end of Napa and then go to Sonoma the next day. -

If I could give them zero stars I would.
We RESERVED a room during Memorial Day weekend. Got there and the "manager" would not honor our reservation because they were overbooked for the weekend. I felt like Seinfeld when he reserved a rental car. What good is a reservation if they can't honor it? The woman we spoke with was hardly a manager - she was rude and offered no recourse except a room at the Holiday Inn. We reserved a 2 bedroom SUITE and she offered a studio at the Holiday Inn... I felt extremely discriminated against.
Read the other bad reviews and you'll notice a pattern. -

The resort is practically brand new, with some buildings still in the process of completion. The location is not ideal --smack in the middle of a corporate park. The rooms are spacious, clean, with some cute touches. I loved soaking in the deep jacuzzi tub. The flat TV screen could be bigger but comes with a DVD player which is super convienant. The rates were not bad but I was disappointed when I was offered an upgrade for a $35 fee! The place was not near 50% occupancy and you can't offer a complimentary upgrade for good measure and goodwill?!
the lady at the concierge desk was a bit snooty to me when I asked for some information on wineries and restaurants. She had to ask me if I was staying at the resort and for how many nights before she even offered me any materials --all the while I had the card keys in my hand!
Concierge left a disappointing impression on me --enough that I would opt to stay somewhere else. Bummer. -

This was my first time staying overnight in Napa and this was definitely an experience since I usually just make a day trip to Napa to wine taste. I love how when I walk in the hotel it feels very warm and grand. The colors of the place are all neutral colors with pretty lightings and a big fireplace right in the middle when you walk in. I really like it.
Our room were clean and roomy, the beds were comfy. I'm a huge germaphobe, I usually bring along my own throw to use on top of the comforters and blankets that the room comes with, but for some reason I felt comfortable to use their pillows without having my own shirt or throw covering it and able to use the comforter without my blankie to cover me first. So I guess that's a plus, the room feels clean.
The bathroom were pretty big for a standard room, I found it to be good enough for two girls to get ready (putting make up on, doing our hair and so forth).
I would definitely recommend this place for people to stay at if they're thinking about an overnight stay in Napa. -

The bones of this place are wonderful. Plush carpets, cozy chairs to lounge around in, heated pool, gracious and friendly staff, etc. The room itself was really cozy, too. Finally - a shower that my 6'3" boyfriend could easily stand under!
However, this facility looses MAJOR points for having, hands down, the most uncomfortable beds. EVER. It was as though we were sleeping on the floor. Why not a single reviewer mentioned this before, I do not know. After all, aren't we going to hotels TO SLEEP?
I can get over the strange location, and time-share vicinity next door. However, I can not recommend this vicinity if you actually plan on sleeping. -

My husband and I recently returned to The Meritage for a short trip to celebrate our 10th Anniversary (26-28Apr). Upon tweeting this, Sheri kindly kept in contact with us over dinner reservations and upgraded our room for us. They are not lacking in customer service at all. Upon arriving we were able to check in early and saw our names listed on the 'congratulations' sign. It was cute. We were also given a Meritage corkscrew and an anniversary card, we appreciated the extra attention.
Although we thought it was a bit chilly to visit the pool (we live in AZ, 65 is chilly) we took advantage of the Bocce Ball court and I partook in a few hours at Spa Terra (I'll write a seperate review).
Each night before dinner we had a drink at The Meritage Bar - same bartender each night, she was very nice and took care of us right away. The Proseco was perfect to start off each evening.
The second night we chose to utilize the hotel shuttle to downtown Napa, which was great, the driver was nice and professional and prompt when it came time for us to be picked up.
I understand that people may not appreciate the location - but I do. I loved waking up each morning and taking a stroll through the vineyards and the road noise was not bad. We had a car and didn't mind the 5 minutes we had to spend to get to downtown Napa or even the 15-20 it took to get to Yountville for dinner. The wine region is vast - there is not one single hotel in the middle of everything you can and want to see, the hotels are just your starting point.
4 Stars out of 5 - I'm looking forward to the expansion of the hotel in 2012, hopefully we'll be back next Spring or Summer. -

Two of my besties celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary this weekend. They stayed at the Meritage and invited us to join them for dinner and cocktails.
We met up at the bar for a few drinks before our DD (Designated Driver), rounded us up to head off to Uva Trattoria Italiana http://www.yelp.com/bi... for a spectacular dinner. When we arrived shortly after 5pm, there were just a few people there, hanging out. By the time we left, the place was poppin. Our bartender Monica was on-point. She served up generous pours and even concocted our favorite, the "Buddy."
We really appreciated the ample parking. Even though the facility was busy, we were able to get a spot close by! Everyone was warm and friendly, and uber helpful. The concierge printed out direction and info on our restaurant and made our reservations for us. The doorman took our picture, and smiled when we decided to use the valet stand for some improptu photo's. LOL -

I just returned from a girls weekend in Napa and this "resort" was disappointing on so many levels. I would like to say that had the price been lower the rating MIGHT have been better, but for 500 a night I was appalled that they have the nerve to give themselves 4 stars, especially when I didn't pay that much to stay in Turtle Bay Hawaii...you getting my point?
First and foremost their website is a complete misrepresentation. I was in shock to realize that this resort, that looks like commuter apartments in Colma, is located on corporate drive. Really?? Not the type of seclusion we were looking for.
We planned out a whole day of wine tasting and figured for the price the restaurant would have to be something to see...umm sure, if you're looking for a run of the mill cafe type eatery. Not a celebratory destination.
The furniture and design is cheap and "frumpy" as one yelper put it and lets not even get started on how our toilet broke and required 2 men to come in and fix it. The pool and jacuzzi are decent, but they close early and you can't drink in there. We decided we mine as well get our moneys worth, or try at the very least, so we went for a night swim only to realize that the maid had taken my friends clothes, towel, robe and room key, which left her wandering around the hotel dripping in a bathing suit.
SNAPS to CINNAMON, the best thing about this hotel. She was sweet, accommodating and even popped some popcorn for us as we waited for my friends clothes =), the 2 stars go straight to her. NEVER waste your money staying at this place! -

I was disappointed in the hotel on several levels. My room's furnishing was a bit frumpy and needs a relevant and more modern design. I expected luxuriant linens and thought they were just average. I expected the toiletries to be evocative and a higher line. The television selection was very limited.
The outdoor fire pit closes unusually early and be sure to bring your plastic cups because of it's proximity to the swimming pool. The pit was terribly uncomfortable--it could have felt a bit more outdoorsy.
I had a good view of the on-premise vineyard. Overall I was disappointed in the hotel. A successful experience is layered with so many fine points and attention to detail that you cannot pinpoint only one good feature. -

We stayed here 2 nights for our 30th anniversary. I thought the place was beautiful. Rooms were clean and very nice. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the pool. Staff at hotel was great. Enjoyed poolside relaxation. Took a walk among the hotel vineyards. We did wine tasting in their own wine cave, just sorry to see they charge hotel guests so much to taste there. We bought several bottles so the fee was refunded.
No charge for Wi Fi which is nice. They offer close up parking for hybrids which we loved since we have one. They have a hotel shuttle that takes you downtown and picks you up- a very GREAT amenity. Friendly drivers.
I was told the restaurant was not very good, and we ate dinners out downtown. We did have breakfast at the hotel and it was very mediocre. I would choose to dine elsewhere. I enjoyed sitting by the wood fire in the lobby, since we picked a day in June it actually rained. Beautiful resort, maybe just a bit overpriced but we loved the staff. The fitness room is very nice but the equipment is not top end as you might expect at a resort of this caliber. Treadmill was very noisy. Nice tea and coffee setup in the lobby in the mornings. Thank you for that. Also newspapers were plentiful and free.
Location is the south end of Napa in a business park which seemed odd, but it works...and works well.
Enjoy a stay at The Meritage! -

So i've been here 2x. The first time with my girls. We stayed at Vino Bello. The rooms are fab. They are pretty spacious and they have balconies/patios and also have a kitchenette. We also did spa treatments. Honestly, we all agreed... the massages weren't that great. i probably won't go back here to get a massage. but all in all, its a beautiful property and actually would love to try the restaurant one day.
Visit #2. My BF and i went here last weekend and we checked out the hotel. We wandered around and even looked at the Estate Cave.. which is pretty big. Like too big. but if you're gonna have a large party, this place is fab. we walked around the vineyards and took a few pictures. It was a nice stop off. -

I have to say that I was impress with the room I got. It was clean and was what I needed for a vacation. I ordered room service about three times in one day and two came on time and the food was nicely served. However, the third time I ordered two bottles of Fiji water at about 11:00 pm because my family were thirsty and everyone was too tired to go down and buy them from the little mart they have. The girl said it would take about 20 mins for them to bring the water bottle, I said it was fine. My family and I waited for about 1 hour it never came, so I called back and there was no answer. (they have 24 hours room service) I was very disappointed at that. But overall the place was nice and would definitely go back there again.

For this price, I expected a little more. Overall the hotel was fine, certainly not work the price though. The staff was FANTASTIC and the winery was very pleasant. There was plenty of seating in the main lobby and they offered a free wine tasting one evening from another winery in Napa. The beds were rock hard and we were told that all the rooms have the same beds. That was the biggest bummer of the stay. The location was a little off the beaten path but that didn't really bother me. Overall, I would not go back here.

Really nice hotel with nice rooms that feel clean (very important to me!)
The free bottle of wine was a nice touch and I thought the beds were comfy. The bathtub is big enough to take a deep bubble bath and there is a nice "ionic" hair dryer.
we weren't able to go to the spa because they were full booked but we did take a peak and it did seem pretty cool..
we also like the vineyards in the back -

I took my 19 year old daughter here for a birthday weekend. The place was gorgeous. Our room was beautiful, clean, comfortable with all the amenities. The staff was outstanding, specifically one young man named Gabe. He went above & beyond expectations for customer service. It is a little bit out of Napa, which was fine with me, as the city of Napa itself doesn't hold much appeal. We were still close to Yountville & Rutherford, which has great restaurants., and a Starbucks just a 5 minute drive away. It would have been nice to have some kind of a small continental breakfast before heading out to sight see/shop, & there was construction going on, but those would be my only complaints. I would go back here anytime.

SpringHill is MUCH better than this over blown faux elegant dump with peeling paint and wearing out tacky decor.
Food - completely 200% inedible. Shameful - hello this is the freaking Napa freaking Valley - organic sustainable local produce abounds. Fire the cooks and ship back to where they came from for they no nothing of food. Worse than the usual crap hotel food.
The Dumb Spa Cave . . . . groan, taking tacky to a whole new level! Nearly zero breathable air and it would give anyone claustrophobia.
Ostentatious everything - very tacky overblown gigantic everything.
They get the 2nd star because they have special parking for hybrids only. -

Really enjoyed my weekend here! Check in time here was 4:00pm. We had planned to arrive earlier to go wine tasting and to my surprise, they were able to let us check in early. I casually mentioned that it was my first time in napa and first time at the resort and they upgrade us to the Superior King (we booked the Luxury King) with a view of the vineyard- YAY for great customer service.
The room was awesome, it was clean, fresh and the bed was ridiculously comfortable. Room came with a flat screen TV and a huge bathroom. There was also a complimentary bottle of red wine and 2 sodas and 2 bottles of water.- nice touch!!! BF and i were starving when we got in and definitely wanted to grab a quick bite before we go wine tasting. We ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza -$ 14 though room service. It came within 15 and it was large enough to feed 2 very hungry people. We inhaled the whole thing it was pretty damn good.
We also took advantage of their pool and hot tub at night, it states that it closes at 10 but they don't kick you out unless you are making a ton of noise so enjoy!!!
Only downside to this hotel is that it is in the middle of a corporate park- (About 10 min drive from downtown napa) but I really liked how Meritage offers shuttles to and from downtown every 30 minutes from 5:30-10:30. There is no specific pick up spots or time when you want to go back . They give you a number when you get dropped off and you just call them to come pick you up when you are ready. Personal DD so no need to spend money on cabs!!
Check out was at 11:00 but there were able to accomodate late check out at 1:00 - now that's what you call excellent customer service all around!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you don't mind a short drive to downtown.Comment from Sheri T. of The Meritage Resort and Spa 10/14/2010

I would give a zero star if I could. The resort should have been named "Meritack". It's the name that reflect how tacky this place is.
We stayed here because my husband attended a seminar here. The resort is south of Napa in the industrial park. That doesn't represent the beauty of Napa which is only 4-5 miles north. The buildings itself are YELLOW, so industrialized. On top of it CONSTRUCTION! I can't believe they build more ugly yellow building in the industrial park. So do not expect any view. Good enough that you can navigate yourself around the resort ground without falling in to any hole. Same principal goes for the interior, yes still tacky. Please, see other one, two, and three stars review. They are all valid. They even have the plays on it's own piano in the lobby...haha
Ok We're here for the seminar...I shouldn't fuzz about it. I probably wouldn't if their service aren't also tacky beyond believe as well. On the check out date, the seminar end at 12pm so we asked for a late check out. Not so late just the end of the seminar plus half an hour to clear out of the room. They said the best they can do is 12pm. So i have to do the packing for both of us. At 11:45am a knock on the door I thought my husband is coming back to get the bags. Nope an employee asking if we want to check out. I said yes. He rudely said I'm already 45 minutes late and a half day will be charged to our card. I told him I thought I had it until 12pm. He said I need to call front desk. I said I did. So he left grumpily. Alright back to packing. At 11:55 another one came in the exact same manner WTF! Like 10-15 minutes going to make a different and it is Sunday ladies and gentlemen. What's the rush. Needless to say 12:10, the husband hasn't arrive yet the same employee (first one) came AGAIN for the third time. I said I'm waiting for my husband to come and collect luggage so we can be out of the room and he's still in the seminar. The employee said "Mam you need to tell your husband to come out of the seminar and get the luggage or your credit card will be charged for a half day!
OMG and we stayed 3 nights there! Not just in and out in a day. Even the seminar coordinator cannot do anything about it. She said the hotel didn't care to cooperate. Even though the seminar brought business to them, not only seminar room, food twice a day for three days plus over 150 rooms for the attendees and each room occupied three night or over.
I will NEVER come back here that's a sure thing. BTW the hotel didn't even give us a bottle of water, there is no groceries store in the hotel or near by in a walking distant. BYOW kinda hotel!
Tacky all the way through isn't it. -

The hotel was nice. When you first walk in the enterence is very charming. There is a fire place running on a stormy day and smelt and felt so good! The rooms were a great size and were decorated very modern with a few antique looking things. The shower sucked, and the spa was closed. (not the day spa, but the pool spa).
The bartenders in the lobby bar were not very friendly, maybe they were to busy, and the waitresses in their resturant were worse. We had breakfast there one morning and my boy friend and I split one meal. The waitressed asked if we wanted Tabasco sauce with the eggs but we finished the eggs before she brought it to us... It took her 30 minutes to bring the bill to our table and the table next to us (and they were not even busy that morning). I only left her a $1 tip... but the service wasn't even worth that dollar... They did have very good homemade English muffins.
Okay back too the Hotel. The bellmen and the doormen were very kind. They had a ghost playing the piano in the main lobby area. o best part was; we got a free bottle of wine!
I would rather stare at the hotel then stay there a night... I am only giving it a four star because it was a nice weekend with my boy friend and I!
