9 reviews for The Marriott Courtyard San Luis Obispo
The rooms were clean (this is a new hotel), spacious, and the staff always ready to help.
If you return to the hotel in the late evening they'll even have freshly baked cookies waiting at the reception desk for you. Help yourself and if you come back for seconds you won't get dirty looks! :)
The breakfast buffet looked a bit pricey so we never ate there, however, on a few occasions i was looking for a water fountain to refill my water bottle and the server in the breakfast area said that he could fill it up in the kitchen for me. Wow, what service!
Checking in/out was a breeze and there are also 3 computer terminals in the lobby area for your convenience. The location isn't too bad, it's not near downtown SLO as one other reviewer wrote, however, I did like staying a bit further away so that I had to drive through and explore the town a bit.
So one potential customer gave this place a one star, but who cares? They can stay at the Motel 6 next door, yo.
I love this place. I'd love it more even if I were paying for it (expense account, yo, but I paid for my own drinks). Yeah, I don't pay for a lot of places, that's the price for being a nomad.
I've stayed in a lot of hotels, and this place has a a lot going for it, with the only minus is that it's so far from downtown SLO and the wonderful bars there, but who cares, they have A HOTEL BAR. With the coolest hotel bartender in the world.
The bartender was great. I don't remember the name, but she was better than the jerk at the Ramada Inn in Shelton, Connecticut (that's another story after three gin and tonics).
The customer service was off the charts. The morning people were friendly, the afternoon people helpful. The beds were comfy (read, not the Westin near LAX, nor the Courtyard in Portland). The showers, spacious. The location, priceless. The rooms, so spotless you can eat off the floors.
Behind the pool were sun bathed hills of grain that are typical of the Central Coast region. Gorgeous, I TELL YOU, gorgeous. Nothing like drinking while chatting away on the phone with a local white wine in hand. (Not those Pinot Noirs from the sideways crowd, yo).
I don't care how new this place is, it was just NICE.
And the hotel bar. oh the hotel bar. If I could give this place SIX STARS, I would. It was fun, entertaining, they let me turn on the closed captioning. Just all in all, a good time.
Ramada Inn in Shelton, do you hear me?

Set up against the Irish Hills of SLO, near a newer strip mall off Los Osos road and next to a horse pasture, is this sparkling new Courtyard.
This hotel is pretty new, so the condition of everything is excellent. We had a larger double Queen room, which was decent size, with a pastoral view onto the green, grassy hills.
The hotel is V shaped into two wings, so half the rooms face onto the serene hills. It is 4 stories and has plenty of free parking.
The bathroom was nice, with all new fixtures and tiling, and had a 5 foot shower big enough for two (why you would be that intimate in the shower while sleeping in separate beds would be a mystery!). No bathtub.
The location isn't near downtown SLO, so if you have a car and can get around, this location is quieter and restful than those closer to the freeway.
I stayed here with my Marriott points, which cost about 20,000 for one night. When you do this, there is no charge for the room, and ergo, no local taxes either, although you do need to have a credit card for incidentals.
As is typical for Courtyards, there is a casual restaurant serving food and room service.
I usually stay at the Embassy Suites near the freeway, which is older and more dated and is showing its age, but has the free breakfast and managers' happy hour. But this is a really nice Hotel choice to stay in SLO.

One of the best & most reasonably priced hotels in SLO.
Our room = Beautiful & impressively sized flat screen tv + Big, comfy beds + Mini fridge + a good amount of space to move around
Apparently this hotel is pretty new to the SLO scene, so you can bet that everything is in mint condition. Our room almost felt like a mini suite! The room looked sharp w/ nice carpeting, paintings and a vase w/ pretty little buds. Our view wasn't bad either. It seemed very SLO-esque w/ bright green grassy hills & horses roaming around.
And the hot tub & pool facilities? Inviiiiting. I wish we had time to take a dip!
The price was reasonable and they were one of the very few hotels in SLO that didn't have a 2 night minimum stay policy. If you've got a AAA card, be sure to flash it to get a discount!
Take note that this place isn't w/in walking distance to downtown. However, it's really not that inconvenient since it's just a 5 min. drive away. If anything, it's a good mid-point between SLO and Pismo. The only strange thing about this place is that they lock the lobby entrance late at night. If I were just checking in at that time, I wouldn't know how I'd get into the hotel!
All in all, this Marriott was a fantastic place to spend our weekend!

I stayed at this hotel Friday-Sunday. It is set back right off the freeway, perched next to a hill. The area was quiet but it was near shopping and restaurants.
The rooms were so nice! Great decor, nice tv's, comfy beds. The hotel pool area was very spacious and the lobby was beautiful. Lots of seating for just hanging out, watching tv at the bar. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Lame! After a long, late-night drive from San Francisco, we stopped over here before heading to Joshua Tree National Park in the morning. We called ahead, confirmed they had rooms, and that the rate, no matter how late we arrived, would be fixed at $149. A little pricey for 6 hours of sleep, but we were willing to spend for a good night's sleep before the long drive ahead. Specifically, reservations were NOT required, but we gave 'em our name and they said they'd expect us.
Tired and completely unintimidating, we arrived at 3am to find the doors locked and the lobby lights off. The night manager wouldn't come near the door, and told us over the intercom that a room was now $169. Not only that, she just kept yelling the price at us, and wouldn't even let us give her our name or an explanation.
I'm sure their rooms are nice, but lacking even mediocre customer service, what's the point?
My advice: roll over to the Best Western instead.

Loved it loved it LOVED IT. Service was first-class, from reservation to checkout. I had an emergency and needed to come home two days early over Memorial Day weekend (gack!) and Jean in reservations hooked me up. When I got there, staff was friendly, funny, and eminently competent. The rooms were plush, the view was lovely, and it was just incredibly comfortable. I asked Josh at the front desk for a cardboard box (to put my goodies from Olvera Street in) and he didn't bat an eye and I had a box waiting for me when I had finished my breakfast waffle (made with the Marriott logo - amusing). Rooms were quiet, the pool and jacuzzi were pristine, and I only wish I'd been staying another day to take full advantage of the lounge and business center. I WILL be staying there again on my SF to LA jaunts!

I've stayed at this hotel twice now. Both have been pleasant experiences. It is a fairly new hotel located in the south end of SLO. Being in the south end of SLO makes it a little further from downtown and all the action, but closer to the beaches. The front desk people were nice and helpful. The rooms were pretty chic and modern looking. There is a pool and a hot tub as well in the middle.
We went once during Christmas season and the hotel was all decked out w/ Christmas trees and decoration. Very cute!
warning: do not stay on the first floor, as a co-worker of mine had some ant problems (most likely due to the land it was built on)

My family and I stayed here on the weekend of my graduation. We were IMPRESSED. It's a brand new hotel and everything is modern and clean clean clean! Prices are reasonable for what feels like a four-star hotel. The rooms actually look better in person than in the pictures, no joke. The guy at the front desk was super sweet, too. The hotel is located at the south end of SLO, so you're just a few minutes away from Avila and Pismo.
My parents usually have trouble sleeping in hotel rooms, but they had no problem here - the beds and pillows were HEAVENLY. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
