The Manhattan Room
2 reviews for The Manhattan Room
I've played here a number of times over the years, but only last week did I finally get down to trying the menu. I recall some years ago being given a comped plate of bar food (mozz sticks, onion rings, etc) after a set, but that's about it.
The menu had exactly what I wanted that night: Greek diner fare. Everything was fresh, great tasting, and the dolmades are some of the best I've had in the city.
The bar is your typical music room bar with a range from PBR to local brews like Yards, PBC and Victory. Good prices and a nice room to sit and relax in.
The actual music room improves every time I go there, as they have been improving the gear and the quality of the guys behind the board. While the sound is great in the room, it's also quite decent in the bar. Imagine dropping the volume of a live show by about 50% while still retaining the fidelity, and that's an accurate description.
Wish it was more of a hangout spot during local shows, but that's my beef with most local music venues. It has the (deservedly) hyped Johnny Brenda's down the block to compete with, but do yourself a favor and give the M Room some attention as well.
The M room is a great spot for a beer, some food and a live band! Haven't frequented this place too often but everytime I have it left me with a story to tell... Meeting Ron Jeremy there for one, got him to give me one of his own branded rolling papers and autograph it for me ;) can't of course you'll have an experience like mine but I do suggest giving the place a shot along with getting a shot from this place!
