This place was pretty swank.  Work put me up here for two weeks while I was doing some training.  I had a giant suite with a full kitchen that I never used, except to make ice for my dranks.

My couches were a little small, which severely affected my TV watching.  Fortunately I was able to overlook this as the TV had a big screen.  The dining area was only used for internetting and putting room service dishes on.

The bathroom was well appointed and I enjoyed soaking in the tub after the free happy hours.  The tub was huge and the shower comfortable.  I didn't like the smell of their signature soaps, but who cares.  There's a Walgreen's on the same block to replace all the stuff the TSA won't let you bring on planes.

It's also near the 16th Street Mall, which is a long, carless street full of restaurants, shops and tourist crap.  It has a free shuttle, or you can take horsedrawn carriages and pedicabs.

There's a free breakfast that is passable.  It's nothing special, but it's free!  The other free things are a happy hour and a night time cookie bar.  Usually I didn't take part in the cookie hour, because I got all my calories taking part in the free happy hour.

The staff is pretty incredible.  I loved the concierges (need one for my house) and the guys who delivered my room service items.

My only gripe was the housekeeping.  I had a lot of trouble getting clean linens and at one point, toilet paper.  Other than that, I wouldn't turn down another free stay at the Magnolia.

Let me break it down for you: 4 girls + 3 nights at the Magnolia Hotel = Good times!

Feeling Perky:
Free Breakfast Buffet - (Hours vary on weekdays & weekends) - Not the best food, but certainly edible.
Complimentary Cocktail Hour (5:30-6:30pm nightly) - House wines & Coors light or PBR - I'm a fan!
Free Cookies & Milk - (8-10pm nightly) - Fresh out of the oven...and they'll deliver to your room if you promise to "make it worth the bellhops time."
Great Location - One block from 16th Street Mall and in walking distance/free bus distance from many great attractions.

Always Room for Improvement:
Customer services was lacking for the most part. It seemed like every trip I took to the front desk I overheard them apologizing for something. While I only experienced a few issues (see below), I did think there was room for improvement.

On My Soapbox:
While I was in the middle of checking out, the staff member helping me asked me to hold on while he helped another man check out. He was already helping me! He could have asked the other person to wait. I thought it was kind of rude.

Also, he couldn't tell me what I got charged for the first night - we had to change rooms after the first night (long story, not the hotel's fault). Since he couldn't find the charge he offered me this helpful statement: "Sometimes they give you your first night for free if you change rooms." Umm, no they don't. You just can't figure out your system so you are blowing me off with a ridiculous statement -- later proved by my credit card charges. It was very off putting and I had to call the hotel's accounting department when I got back to Sacramento. Never fun.

Wrap It Up, Would Ya?
Overall, a great hotel with a great location. I would stay here again, but I would make sure I was treated with more respect.

Disclaimer: I'm really tired after a whirlwind trip to Denver, which involved arriving at Magnolia at 2:30 a.m. due to major flight delay (because of tornadoes in Denver), four hour business presentation, and flying home same day. Therefore, this review is going to be short and boring, but I want to be sure I get something posted before I forget to do it.

I just want to say that Magnolia is a fabulous place to stay. It's beautiful and cool and comfortable - all the things a downtown hotel should be. The location is great as it's right on the light rail line and walking distance to everything downtown. A major added bonus is the place was super quiet - something that seems to be missing from most hotels, including the fancy ones. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and they have free hot breakfast, free beer and wine happy hour, and free milk and cookies in the evenings.

The end.

I give 2 stars, because the breakfast is free. That's hard to find in hotels.

My wife and I stayed at this hip/happening hotel a couple of weeks ago while in downtown Denver.

Conveniently located right downtown, I would recommend the Magnolia to anyone - particularly those looking to avoid the corporate hotels that cater more to conventioneers. The only name badges you'll see at this hotel will be worn by the staff who were extremely polite and friendly.

I was also impressed by the complementary buffet breakfast. Be sure and get there at a decent time however,  as they were running out of tables and of all things - eggs by the time we rolled in. They also have an evening wine hour and late night milk and cookies.

If you are trying to stay in shape, the Magnolia has a pretty good gym with a good set of dumbbells, several cardio machines and a decent weight set.

If you are ever in town, give this place a try.

I thought this hotel was fantastic!! It's right next to the 16th street mall and it is classy without feeling too overwhelming. I took the light rail down so I don't know how much parking cost but the hotel was absolutely worth it.

If you go down to Harry's, you can get a bottle of wine to go if are in the mood for something other than bar hopping. The Magnolia seemed to be the place to go if you want to get dinner, have drinks and retire back to a place you don't have to clean in the morning, haha...

Have fun on the King sized bed:)

Not a bad place to stay if your company is footing the bill.

Free happy hour in the afternoon and cookies at night! I was too scared to try the flavored milk though.

Breakfast buffet was great, but there was no variety - same thing every day. Eggs, sausage (what, no bacon?), and potatoes, along with cereal, bagels, etc.

Rooms were noisy as I could constantly hear the light rail/trolley thing going "DING DING" from the 9th floor.

I loved this hotel.  The rooms were a bit small, but we got a great price on it from http://hotels.com (about $50 cheaper than normal).  When we checked in, they quickly booked us a reservation at a restaurant that turned out to be amazing, whisked our bags away, valeted our car and sent us to happy hour while we could still get a free glass of wine (we had about 15 minutes left).

They also faxed something for us while we were in a hurry and left the confirmation slipped under our door.

The location was great, as well, right downtown Denver within a block from the 16th Street Mall.  I will definitely come back for more.

And the sink in the bathroom was sweet!

We stayed at the Magnolia when we were in Denver for business. Beautiful old hotel that has been remodeled in a modern style.

Some good things: Great deep bath tub, continental traditional breakfast, cookies and milk, the staff was really helpful in finding things in Downtown Denver, really close  to public transportation.

Some bad things: Parking was super expensive

I've stayed here twice now, and while the rooms are not that special, they are nice, with great beds and nice toiletries.

But what really does it for me are the free happy hour drinks, milk and cookies from 8 - 10 PM, and great breakfast (which includes several hot items in addition to the usual continental fare), which are all included.  All three are served in a nice downstairs lounge area, which could be the interior of a trendy bar.

I think it's a great value and a great location.

Well I stayed here after the fiasco of a game called Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. The first thing I realized is that there's not a whole lot of parking surrounding the area so you're better off paying for the $26 overnight valet parking. Once inside, the decour is very nice, and the staff is very friendly. Room service was prompt and the room itself had a very art deco feel to it, and had room enough for a couple of friends that needed to crash over last-minute to order up a mattress and hit the floor. There's a flat-screen in the living room, and the bed is very comfortable. The only complaint I have is that for some reason there were fire engine sirens going off throughout the night and I could barely sleep. If this is because there is a fire station nearby, beware. If not, it was probably just my luck. Overall, very recommendable, and extremely comfortable; makes you want to stay a few extra nights and just...relax.

PS= As for the fiasco comment... GO LAKERS

We've stayed here several times over the years - most recently when we came up for the NCAA regional bball games.

The interior of the hotel - rooms mainly - has just been redone, and has a nice modern look.  We had a "suite" which included kitchen, living room area, dining room area and bedroom with 1 bath. PLENTY of space for 2 people in downtown Denver.

When we ran back from the late bball game - they were just putting away the milk & cookies - but we apparently looked so wistful they gave us a plate of cookies to take up to our room. :)

A great "non-chain" hotel for a Denver getaway.

Unlike the other reviewers, I actually stayed in this hotel because I was traveling from out of town.  For those purposes, it was really great.  I approve of the tendency of hotels that are not overly luxurious to have a little bit of funkiness rather than just standard mid-line decor.  For those compensated with a per diem in addition to a hotel reimbursement, the free breakfast, free happy hour, and free milk and cookies are also a great boon (as well as the free internet).

There were some annoying things, like the fact that my keys kept getting demagnetized, that the elevators were slow, and that the rooms didn't have balconies, but on the whole this has been my favorite of the four hotels i've stayed in in downtown Denver.

We stayed at The Magnolia 2x.
The 1st time was a total fiasco -- 1 star
The 2nd time was a great experience for a 3 star hotel...
I split the difference, and gave it 2 stars, but if you factor the location, maybe I should have up'd it to 3 stars...

As I mentioned, the 1st time was a fiasco from the get.    I tried to book "The Romance Package"  on-line, however I kept getting an error message, so I called the hotel directly.  Instead of the local hotel people helping me, they transferred me to Central Reservations, and spoke to a woman who obviously failed Customer Service 101.  She was nasty, belligerent, and didn't know her own hotel's packages.  The website plainly listed what was included and the package price, which I not only read to the woman, but e-mailed it to her.  Even after all of that, she insisted that only a standard room is included in the package, when the website said suite, and quoted a price double the advertised price.    She then proceeded to tell me that the hotel was almost sold out and only a few standard rooms were available.   Total bunk--she was making it up as she went.
As it turned out, I booked online through my Sam's Club membership, and received a ridiculously low price on a suite ( so much for being sold out)  so we made our own package.

The suite itself was not one of their finer ; probably due to our on-line reservation.  As it turned out, the hotel was at a very low occupancy, so they could have upgraded us, or at least given us a room sans problems- which was a bedroom so small and poorly laid out, that the door couldn't close, and a tv that didn't work.

The suite itself was cold and uncomfortable.  The bathroom, which sounded like heaven on the web, was nothing to yelp about.  The tub was a garden tub, not a soaking tub like the website lead you to believe, and standard Ramada Inn type toiletries-- I take that back, the Ramada has EVERYTHING you need in case of a forgotten item.  Here a call for toothpaste gave me the response :  There's a Walgreen's 2 blocks down.
Thanks...for nothing.

However, the 2nd time was smooth sailing--it happened to be my BD, so we were upgraded to a Fireplace Suite ( end of June...but nice touch anyway).  We had a fab dinner at Morton's as part of the aforementioned Romance Package, where their Expedition SUV delivered us in record time.
While the suite itself was nicer than the previous time...it still had the same cold hard furniture in the living areas...just not inviting.
The little things are big things when you stay at a hotel -- just for the fun of it, and the Magnolia just doesn't cater to us local, get away from the house crowd.  \
Where Teatro is 5 stars...Magnolia struggles to be 3 stars.

However, location, location, location.....and Magnolia has the address.

I had a not so good experience with this hotel when I tried to inquire about New Years Eve.  The reservationist was so snotty I wrote a letter to the hotel.  A few days later I received an apology letter and a gift certificate for one night's stay.

We chose to stay there on our anniversary night.  I thought that the inside of the hotel was very classy.  The front desk was not so friendly, and the man we dealt with seemed more interested in his coworker than us.  He did give us some free beer coupons for Rock Bottom, which I thought was very nice.

We had drinks later at the bar, Henry's I think it was called.  The bartender was very nice, and when she heard it was our anniversary, she gave us free champagne.

The room was smallish, and the window gave us a view of the inside "courtyard", but really we were looking at another brick wall and windows.

The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was nice.  The entire room was extremely clean.  They provide bottled water, but with a note that if you open it, it costs you $$.  I thought this was pretty lame since a person could simply walk over to Walgreen's and buy their own water for half the price.

Overall, our stay was just ok.  I wouldn't recommend it to my friends or family, nor would I want to stay there again.

I have stayed at the Adam's Mark, they are lower in price and are much more professional.  They have an outstanding brunch and a pool, neither of which Magnolia offers.

Not bad.  Solid downtown location and the price was right.  Parking was way to expensive, which is a real negative.  I'd come back again if the price was right.

We've stayed at the Magnolia three times when driving out west, and, it's our favorite place to stay in Denver. The staff is wonderful; friendly, helpful, very accommodating, and best of all they allow dogs. Not only do they allow dogs, it seems that the majority of the staff loves dogs and they definitely cater to them. It's centrally located in downtown Denver near plenty of great spots, they have a great free happy hour and free cookies and milk at night, and the cookies are GOOD! The best thing, however, about The Magnolia is their rate..phenomenal. The first time we stayed we hadn't planned to be in Denver the night we were there and it was about a week before Christmas. After trying to find a room at a few places in Denver and being turned away because they didn't allow dogs, or us not wanting to pay $400 for one night, a concierge recommended The Magnolia. We got a huge suite, complete with a separate living room, kitchen, huge bathroom, and, a huge bedroom at the back of the suite, all for $100. It's clean, comfortable, and luxurious. The Magnolia is a wonderful and welcoming spot in Denver that shouldn't be missed.

I stayed at this hotel the night of the company holiday party (January 27th). This hotel was C-L-A-S-S-Y. I hosted a pre-party party and 14ish people easily fit and they all were impressed. The decor is beautiful and the bathroom fixtures were very updated. I was a *little* too tipsy to make it to the "cookie bar" but the breakfast buffet the next morning was great: Starbucks coffee and tea, cereals, bagels etc. Parking was $25 to park overnight but I felt safer leaving my car there instead of in a parking lot since sometimes they get locked up. The windows in the room were absolutely huge and had great views of downtown. I would stay there in a heartbeat. The overall vibe was that of youth and class and gorgeous simplicity. The hotel meeting room was beautiful. I would really hope that my work chooses this venue again. My only regret is that I didn't take care of all the amenities that this hotel has to offer.

Great location, and within walking distance to Peet's coffee. The gym is one of the better hotel gyms that I've used without paying some fee. Staff is helpful and friendly. The best part is that I slept very well - comfortable!

My husband and I considered having our wedding at the Magnolia, but decided against it because of the decor, its location, the caterer, and the hotel bar.
First of all the ballroom is ACROSS THE STREET from the hotel, which would make it a little strange getting to the ceremony in your wedding dress.
Secondly, the decor was harlequins and clowns. The paintings were very cool and well done, a la Michael Parks, but just not right for my wedding. You would really need a very specific theme for it to work.
The bar was non-smoking and across the street. I wanted to provide my smoking guests with a place to go that wasn't right on the street. Since all of Denver has gone non-smoking, this issue has obviously become irrelevant.
And lastly, the caterer, Sambuca Jazz Caf,  was off-site and not part with the hotel. I had never heard of them and didn't have an opportunity to try thier food, so I wasn't convinced of the quality. (The food was very important to me.)
So although it was a nice facility, it just wasn't going to work.
