4 reviews for The Lotus at Diamond Head
Friday nights at the Lotus. 200$ bottle service.
DJ: I don't know his name but he was awesome, best music selection/mixing i've experienced on island.
Service: Excellent, we were almost done with our bottle, but the manager was attentive anyway, refilling the ice, and the mixers.
GoGo Dancers: A little old.. I still watched.
Crowd: This was are 10-1230am spot before we moved on.. it was starting to get interesting around 12, that's when I'd show if I was to do it again. Lotus is an older, classier, clubbing crowd mostly 25-35.
2.5
This hotel was formerly a W, but supposedly did not meet standards and was deflagged back in January. They filed for bankruptcy the week before we arrived (which I read after-the-fact, as it was not apparent during our stay).
The Lotus is a 50 room boutique hotel that overlooks a huge park and the ocean. It's 10 minutes walking distance from Waikiki, so quiet but close to the action. It was Japanese-themed, which was evident in the lobby decor as well as the fact that the beds were made for munchkins (literally, my feet hung off the ends) and the bathrooms had these weird shower/tiny tub combinations.
Other drawbacks included one VERY slow elevator, a leaky faucet in our bathroom, a broken iPod dock, janky TV and the lack of a restaurant open for breakfast or lunch. The staff was super nice and attentive and gave great recommendations for bars and restaurants though.
Side note (although it may not matter because the hotel is going buh-bye): Taxi drivers in Honolulu are not familiar with "The Lotus", but if you say "W", they'll pick up what you're puttin down.
Castle Resorts just took over the former "W" and renamed it the Lotus. It has a lovely Asian Hawaiian theme. You can see Diamond Head from EVERY room. They have a Wii in the lobby. We love this hotel!! Rooms range from $250-$2500 but Castle always has a deal of some kind like right now is over 50% off. If you follow Castle Resorts on Facebook or Twitter you will be alerted when they release their HOT iDEAL rates which are the last minute internet rates they do all the time. I just saw a rate of $57 come through last week for one of their Waikiki properties!!
My Girl and I stayed at "The Lotus" formally known as the "W" in Honolulu. It is situated across the street from Kapi'olani park and the Beach. Our room was on the 10th floor facing south and from there we could see the ocean and beautiful full views of Diamond Head mountain. We chose this hotel for the distance from the busy Waikiki strip. It was perfect. We cut through the parking lot and there is beach access with a small beach to the left and the endless Waikiki beach to the right. We like Quiet and don't like to be in the middle of all the craziness. If you are looking for that then this isn't the place for you. Thursday nights in the hotel bar restaurant is Live Jazz from 6pm to 9pm. The food was delicious. They also have a daily drink special on selected drinks. Friendly small staff, no room service but walking distance to hundreds of restaurants, cool hip vibe, large rooms and beautiful views. We had a partial ocean view and it was plenty enough to see. Anyone who complains about this place is an Uptight Person. This place was great for chill'in and gett'in away.
