I never know how to rate a closed establishment.  The Lodge has been closed for a year and a half.  Ritz Carlton was planning to remodel the faculity and reopen last fall.  They ran out of money and it sits as monument to financial instability.  And now they are waiting for the tooth fairy to happen by.

Is sad.  I had stayed here a few times... before I bought the estate. It was a little dated.  Service and food were Ok,  not extraordinday...but, OK.

It is sad to see anything close.  It puts a lot of hard working people out of work.

So I wrote this review from the Bay Area, where I live and instantly I was bombarded with messages telling me that it's been closed for a year. The desert ain't what it used to be... I leave my review as a way to remember what this place once was, because i think it's a good way to rate something that is closed, even if the information isn't as useful as it was 3 years ago. Sorry yelpsters...I didn't know it was closed.

When this place with the Ritz they had the best Sunday brunch in the desert. it's at the top of a small hill at the end of Frank Sinatra Blvd. They had chefs the made omelets for you as well as bacon, sausage, pancakes, french toast all super fresh and yummy. It's brunch so they also have fresh cut ham, fresh cut roast beef, potatoes, pastas, and all sorts of salads and things I can't quite remember of the top of my head...lots of variety. Excellent desserts, cream puffs, chocolates, cakes, and a soft serve ice cream. My mom would stick with the caviar and champagne all the time!

It's the desert so you can eat outside. The courtyard faces the pool and you get a decent view of the desert (or at least the chocolate mountains 100 miles or so away to the north). The pool is a cool scene with grass and sun tanning chairs provided just to the side. They would always put up a large Christmas tree on the lawn by the pool. I remember on Easter they also planted Easter eggs for all the kids to run around and find. Great times!

The Lodge is a hidden away gem on the southern rim of the Coachella Valley in Rancho Mirage. Formerly the Ritz Carlson, the Lodge retains the refinement one might expect from such a hotel.
The rooms range from pedestrian to amazing, though the views are mostly non-existent. The grounds and lobby are gorgeous, and the staff courteous and helpful.
Enjoy a meal out at the patio overlooking Palm Springs, or a drink in the dark-wood bar area.
The pool area is well appointed, and comfortable, but nothing to write home about.
