I want to like The Little Store SO badly. The food is just SO blah! It's an adorable place, feels SO small town, and the outside seating is so cute with the red and white checkered tablecloths. I would hate to see it close so I will continue to patronize it despite the mediocrity of the food.
A very cute down to earth place tucked away in the Woodside area off of I-280. Very mom and pops sort of atmosphere where everyone knows everyone. I used to go here with a friend and his family and it seems like a nice place to hang out with friends and families. Try everything. So far no complain.
The Little Store looks really cool and timeless. It's got old junk on the walls and a rusted vintage automobile out front. It would be an excellent venue for a hootenanny, or perhaps just some good ol' jug-blowin. But unfortunately this isn't Kleetus's house, it's a restaurant, and there's the rub.
Firstly, it's got really sporadic and inconsistent hours, so you can never really spontaneously go to the Little Store. That's part of the charm, I readily concede, but it's also a bit of a deterrent from planning to eat there. Then there's the fact that the food ain't so good. Pretty typical Americana fare, but not prepared very well, and not with ingredients of the caliber of the neighborhood.
For your money, you'd probably be better off going down Woodside Road to the Woodside Bakery or Bucks. Better tasting food, and Bucks still has ecclectic junk all over the walls. If that's what, you're in to,
doo doo doodoo doo doooo,....
I came here with my friend Michael for lunch on a workday. With not many options on Sand Hill, this was a quick drive. Although it wasn't packed, service was quite slow. I had a veggie burger with a side green salad and milkshake. The food was quite average, but the setting cozy and warm. The stuff really wasn't very healthy, not sure if I would come back again. Great outdoor patio though.

I have passed this place a dozen times and finally had the chance to stop in. The staff was very friendly, the food was decent. The restaurant has a warm, friendly, local feel to it.
It was nice to sit outside and eat but unfortunately, being right on woodside road, the pavement noise of the passing cars was quite load and kind of annoying after a while.
Take the same restaurant and make it a little secluded with a view . . .4 stars. As is? Nothing Wow'd me, food was good but not phenomenal, staff was great - wish there was a 3.5 star, instead, I gotta go 3 - which isn't bad, it just isn't fabulous either.
Right now they have a Banjo session on Monday nights from 6-8, that might be fun to check out.
This place has charater
Something you don't find everyday
i like the copper top bar
i dropped in for lunch one day and they make the perfect grilled cheese sandwiches
its right on one of the best windy roads in the bay area
if you like driving windy roads then this place is the perfect stop for a bite to eat
Wel first of all, the Little Store is in WOODSIDE. This is a great place, you can go from burgers to Rack of Lamb, depending on your mood. No one has mentioned the warm Napa cabbage salad or the French onion soup, both of which are yummy. Both the servers I see there, Paula (my favorite) and a young man who's name escapes me, see to really enjoy being there. I love that I can run my dogs at the Horsepark, and then show up a little worse for wear, and fit right in. I try to take out of town visitors here for the charm of a real 'local' eatery.
The Little Store is down the road from Bucks (which I go to a lot). The menu for the Little Store changes a lot based on what they have. The hours are kinda random also. But the food tastes good.
I have been here 2 times and both times I really enjoyed my meals. One time I got a burger and the other time a chicken salad. The entrees were a bit on the pricey side ~$15 (similar to Bucks) considering the type of place but sitting out on the patio on a nice evening is great. The staff/owners are really nice also.
The Little Store is well known to people who grew up in Woodside/ back hills of Palo Alto/ Portola valley. Which is how I found out about it.

Great food, great service. I haven't been there in awhile but from what I remember they had pretty crazy hours. Check if they're open, but do go give it a try!
You know the place is quaint and charming. My boyfriend's grandmother just threw a party with a banjo band there and it was the perfect place for that type of party. The food is strictly middle America-- fried chicken, peas and carrots, cheesy french bread and every thing fried. I wouldn't eat there again (I do like my unclogged arteries), but if you ever wanted to throw a little banjo party for the kids or the grandparents, I would recommend The Little Store as a venue.
I hate giving this very cute little place a bad review but the food was just so average. My husband had the special, which was beer battered prawns. I got the grilled chicken sandwich because it had green chiles on it and I was in the mood for something simple. The chicken was overcooked and tough. The french fries were blah. The prawns were so so. Given that the prawns were $15, my sandwich was $9, and most entrees hovering around $10 - $16 I was expecting better.
The menu was pretty random. Burgers, fries, shakes, fried chicken, ribs, Mexican food, salads, and some fish and beef dishes. I don't know. Maybe the Mexican food is good? Someone else should check it out and report back.
The room was quite charming. It's a looks like it used to be a little country store. Duh. I guess that's how it got its name. Maybe try it for lunch? But I would go to Buck's for dinner over the Little Store.
