Loved the food and service. I had Bread pudding french toast and it was fabulous....and the coffee, to die for.
We will be back here for sure. We go to Twain Harte at least a few times a year and this time was the first for The little cottage cafe and we were impressed. You will love this little gem. -

If you're looking for a good hearty breakfast with friendly service this is not the place to go. Our server was less than thrilled with zero personality. The food portions were small and the wait time for food was long! The food it self was OK and not much of a selection! Next time in town I will try somewhere else!

Food is very good. Nice for a gourmet type breakfast. Frittatas, scrambles all very tasty. Good service.

A step up in quality of food vs other small Sierra towns, with coffee that is actually drinkable.

If you have children do not go here!
I went with my sister to breakfast at this cafe. I used to love this place, I remember going there years ago and it had such a wonderful atmosphere. But this time it was horrible! When we entered the cafe, we were all in good spirits, but that quickly changed. The waiter attitude was atrocious. We had brought with us my two very well behaved nephews, on our drive to the cafe we told them that they could each put sugar in their tea, so eagerly as we sat down at the table they both grabbed 1 packet of sugar. The waiter snapped at the boys, yelling that, "sugar is not a toy, put it back!"
My sister and I sat in shock not knowing how to respond. We ended up staying but it never got any better. As other customers entered we watched one after the other were treated very well, the only difference was these customers did not have children. My nephews are some of the best little boys, we often get compliments while we are out together about how well behaved they are. This was a first for us to be treated this way. My sister is a Waitress at a high end restaurant, and I used to manage a cafe, we would never have treated any customer that way.
I guess they feel they only have to be nice to the people that know them by name! -

Little Cottage Cafe is a quaint little place with nice outdoor dining on the front deck. Excellent, fresh, gourmet food and great service...smiling faces and very pleasant. This is my annual choice for Mother's Day Brunch ~ 4 years in a row now.

Slow cooked scrambled eggs (the way Julia Child would do it), awesome breakfast potatoes, homemade scones...all great stuff in a cozy space with good conversation. The burgers are excellent, as well. Forgo the bigger places at least once during your Twain Harte visit and see why the locals eat/meet at The Little Cottage Cafe.

I've visited the Little Cottage Cafe on a number of occasions with my infant daughter and various family members. The food is exceptional. I love the sourdough french toast off the regular menu and have been blown away by the specials (bread pudding french toast, asparagus, prosciutto and feta scramble). There have been great things for my daughter to eat and sitting on the porch during the warmer months is quite pleasant. The number of tables is few but we go pretty early so we haven't had to wait for a table. The dishes served reflect a great appreciation for quality ingredients and proper preparation.
