I went there again last night with a ton of friends and had another really really good time. This remains my favorite boston bar however I got to give it a 4 star rating this time instead of a five cause the band last night was not nearly as good as some of the ones that played their in the past. I didn't like the guys voice that much and the play list wasn't quit as good. I also had to wait a bit longer for drinks but still a less than average wait considering how crowded it was.
The girl guy ratio is about 50/50 which is nice for everyone and the best part is there is no huge line to wait on last night.
Great place.

This is what all Boston Bars should be but all too often epically fail.

I. LOVE. THIS. PUB!!!
I've been to Lansdowne the past few weekends and I have really had a great time! Almost too great. Very nice inside, and clean-- best Irish pub I've ever been too because you do NOT feel like you are in a dirty cave...I would say its more like a classy cozy and comfortable establishment which is slightly suprising for Lansdowne Street.
Best part about my time there-- the people I've met. Definitely a younger crowd, but no one trashy. Cute guys and even the staff is cute :) Great place to go with guy friends because you can either sit/relax/chill by the bar ORRRR get down on the dancefloor depending on the mood of the night. Everybody wins.
The bar is sooooo long so getting a drink is rarely a problem because there is always a spot to sneak in. Here's a trick if the bar is slightly crowded-- get a drink from the cocktail servers. They are quick and you wont have to stop what you're doing to go get a drink. EXCELLENT SERVICE.
From my experience, Lansdowne is more crowded on Fri and Sat nights, but when I was there a couple Thursdays ago the crowd was slightly smaller and IT WAS AWESOME. There was a live band (way better then recorded music) and everyone was doing karaoke and having a great time. I did a little Tina Turner action. Hey, why not?
WARNING: although you can order food until 1am, if you order a huge plate of fries with cheese and curry at 12:45am you will eat them all a regret it in the morning. but hey, its hungry season do what you feel
My roommates have been raving about this place so I decided I had to come check it out. Cool scene. Great food. Friendly staff. Lansdowne Pub deserves people raving about it as they do it right.
I went on Monday night to watch the pats game and was happy that my friends were right - this place rocks. We watched the game, had some food (not sure what's in the cheese dip-but its good!) and some beers. Huge beer selection, tons of seats, and plenty of TVs. Excellent place to catch the game, and eat some great food.
The coolest Irish Pub I have EVER been to!
I went to The Lansdowne last weekend and absolutely loved it. Most bars seem really crowded and hard to get around but this one was very open and had such a great atmosphere. The bartender had a lot of energy and was very hospitable. It was the biggest bar I have ever seen HAHA. There were really cool bar tables that everyone shares which makes it a great way to meet new people.
I recommend to check it out... It will probably be my regular bar spot from now on!
Came in for a quick bite before a show next door.
Dark Irish pub with a long bar (with some decent drafts) and small stage. I'd love to come back to see a band.
I ordered a grilled cheese with fries and curry. The sandwich was amazing... the bread practically melted in my mouth. I didn't know that was even possible.
Our waitress was friendly and speedy.
I've said it before... places like this are a dime a dozen in this town but the food, nightly entertainment, and location sets this a tad bit apart.
OH JEEEEBUSSSSS! Does Boston really need another F'n 'rish Pub? Do we really need another bloody story of this heritage and that the Pub reflects the tradition of Ireland and wishes to share its prison-cuisine? Do we really need to hear some old man to tell us that our 'mother was a "good" woman?'
PLEASE.
I thought that while I was away, Boston would progress and become more diverse culturally and more cutting-edge in the hospitality world.
One star for an excellent beer list.
The reviews seem to imply that this place would be decent for food and a few beers.Especially if you're in the Fenway area.
However, I have come here twice at peak partying hours on the weekend. I have to say, both times it was equally disappointing. For some reason, they charge a $5 cover. Perhaps it's for the seemingly undeserving cover bands that play there.
While I was there, I thought I'd be funny and order a gin fizz. To my surpsrise, the bartender didn't even know what a gin fizz was. After explaing it to her, she made one for me, and it a was as good as mixed drinks are from any of these kinds of bars.
I would avoid this bar, unless you're looking for a cheesy-music, drunk, ridiculous style bar.
Methinks I'd rather eat 12 babies, covered in mayo, encrusted in dead hampster's, than ever visit this little tiny slice of heaven again.
Bartenders clearly unhappy with their life choices, do not need to take it out on the patrons that are, coincidently, paying their bills.
It's hard enough actually going to one of these places (had to meet friends, obvs was not my first pick), but to then wait 20 minutes for a drink that... **quick side note: ordered a black velvet, Magners & Guiness, for two people, do the math, that is the whole bottle, bitches** she clearly had NO idea how to make and then complain that we would be wasting the Magners. Really? Really. REALLY. I basically got a mess of a Guiness/Magners that tasted like, well, I'm torn between rotting flesh and fly infested rotting food. It's a tough call.
Anyways, you get the pic. Stay away from this "establishment" and put you money to good use and set it on fire. Just sayin'.
xoxo Jill
This place is a lot of fun. This might be the best bar I've been to in Boston. I was here when there was some live music, and not only was the music great, but the place was packed to the gills, there was only a $5 cover, and the drinks weren't as expensive as some of the places around (I'm looking at you Jillian's/Tequila Rain). If you're in the mood to go to a bar and dance without a club-like feel, this is the perfect place.
It's hard to find good bars in this area because of how easy it is to get away with a sub-par bar. This one goes above and beyond. If you're out in the fenway area, and you want to dance to some decent music with a ton of other people, I highly recommend this place.
So I went to The Lansdowne Pub for the first time this weekend and had a great time.
The $5 cover wasn't to much (but I hate covers) for the band they had playing. The food was very good I had the Shepards pie and "Traditional chips" (french fries) both were extremely good but I will return for the "chips" alone. My buddies and I had a great time there was a ton of hot girls and the band was pretty good. It did get a little crowded as the night went on but the staff was able to keep up with it. We never waited long for drinks and at $4 for a Miller Lite draft how can you beat that in the Fenway area.
We are planning to head there over the Thanksgiving weekend because I am sure the place will be jumping. Keep up the good work.
I really hate to give Landsdowne two stars but I'm purely rating the Friday/Saturday nights I've been to. I've had to wait on some pretty long lines to get in here and once inside, it is SO crowded you can barely move. And don't even try getting a drink...its usually nearly impossible to even get near the bar and even if you do you can bet on having to wait for quite a while until someone asks what you want.
Some pluses are pretty good live bands, a nice spot on the corner of Lansdowne St, and if you can actually see anything the setup is pretty cool. They also have a nice beer selection (I have yet to find UFO in a bottle anywhere else). I'll have to try the pub on a different night and I'm sure my rating will go up!
I am still talking about how much I miss Jake Ivory's, but it's hard to argue with what they've done with the Lansdowne. It's clean, new, and there's always live music. Great crowd and right next to the Pahhhk. Easy to get a drink in my experience. And it's become a 7-day-a-week spot (at least moreso than its predecessor). It's cleaned up the area and rivals going to other areas of the city for a night out.
My one suggestion: Bring back the dueling pianos one weekend night each week!
The Lansdowne Pub is an awesome addition to Lansdowne Street. It brings a completely new vibe and a much needed change. Sure, Fenway has a lot of sports bars or those types of places - but the Pub has a classic neighborhood-y feel, while still being a great place pre/post/during a game.
They have replicated Guinness Factory doors in the bar. There's a bar rail, lots of comfy nooks and crannies all around, a stage for live music. There is a really great food menu (you've GOT to try to fried mars bars...I had to stop myself from ordering 5). I just found out they're doing Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays - Irish breakfast? Yesss please.
The Pub is a perfect mix of Old Irish and New Boston. Love it.
The Lansdowne has a very precarious juggling act down pat, one that other bars in Boston just can't seem to pull off so well.
First element: the Irish pub. They serve up pints of well-poured Guinness with a smile and they offer solid Irish fare mingled in with excellent pub grub like bangers and mash, crispy potato skins and Shephard's pie, all in a wood-drenched interior that's warm, friendly and kinda makes you forget that you're not right smack dab next to Fenway.
Next: the sports bar. Tons of TV's, the Sox game viewable from every angle. Plenty of beer and rowdy cheering with every hit. Plus, it's right next to the park. How much more "sports" can you get?
For the final act: nightlife. Late-night, live-music, kinda yeah-dude crowd partying it up. Dancing, drinking, making merry and sometimes making a ruckus. You won't forget you're in Fenway during these hours, but you'll have a better time here than at Faneuil Hall or Boylston Street.
And just what holds all three of these pins in equilibrium? Fried Twinkies and Mars Bars. Seriously. Go get yourself one and tell me it's not the glue that keeps this place stuck together so successfully.
So, in an area that is surrounded by sports bars and "clubby" places, this seemed the best place to go after a show at the HOB. I know, I could travel two miles back to my neighborhood dive bars in Allston, but really. There's traffic, and booze is necessary *now.* And thanks to the head start I get from drinking at the show, it tends to be the place that I end up doing very silly things and dancing badly.
Anyway, this place huge. It's like the chain and buffet version of an irish pub. It certainly lacks the "dirty" aspect of most irish pubs, and being an Allston resident, is rather disconcerting. The music is top 40's, drinks are semi-pricey but decently strong, there is a cover to get in, and the crowd is a little like the fanuiel hall crowd (22 and/or tourists).
I did not try the food, as I've only been here after shows/games. I recommend this place if you *have* to go out after that show and don't want to go far. Or maybe you want to go dance with your friend's boss so your friend has to deal with being teased about said incident for the next six months. Either way, this is the place for it.
Alright, so out of the blue after a concert at the HOB we decided to walk next store to The Lansdowne Pub. Having been to most of the Irish Pubs in Boston i will say this place blow me out of the water. We were greeted at the door by the manager who welcomed us and sat us. We ordered two guiness drafts from the waitress who was extremely friendly. When we got the two guiness to my amazement they had the proper head a guiness should have and not just flat like most Boston bars. After a couple drinks we decided to have a small bite to eat and ordered the mussels. Again to my amazement they came out of the kitchen fast and simmering. After being at this place for only half and hour it blow my mind how much they were on top of there game more than other Irish pubs around here. After we finished the mussels up, the manager came over to the table to see how everything was.(THIS WAS A FIRST FOR ME) After telling him how amazed myself and my girlfriend were, he gave me his business card with personal cell phone number on it and told me to contact him anytime i was around in the area. This again was a first for me becauce the only time ive ever had a manager come up to a table was over a complaint. I highly recommend this place to everyone out there. While your there ask for the manager Kelly and for the server Meghan, They will take care of you. Five stars all around.
This place is fine. It's big and the cover band was unintentionally hilarious. (I spent 3/4 of the night trying to figure out if the lead singer was dude or chick. I still don't know. He/she haunts my dreams.
Anyway, I'd give this place a higher rating, but God help me do they water down your jack and cokes. Holy cow. If they did a taste test with a Jack and Coke and a Coke Zero, I'd throw up my hands and shake my head.
I had seven of them on Saturday. Seven! I weigh 155 pounds and under normal circumstances would have been dead. But seven Landsdowne J/cokes had me literate and articulate. When I was done drinking there, I drove home, operated heavy machinery and gave birth to a perfectly healthy set of twins.
Weird.
4.5, probably, but I had a good time so I'll be generous. Came here for a private party on a Friday night. The back room was nice, with its own mini bar and big screen TVs. The place has a good amount of space, tons of seating, but also an area that gets cleared out to dance in when a live band is playing. Being close to Fenway (ie right across the street) and thus easily accessible via public transportation for a bar-hopping night, only makes it better.
A special note: they had probably the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen in a pub/restaurant/bar. That's a +1 star right there and shows they care about the details.
Their appetizers are really, really good, too. Of note were the potato skins with bacon bits and the chicken poppers with a great spicy dip. And of course, where else can one get a fried Mars bar or a fried Twinkie? I'd definitely return again, maybe try some of their main course dishes.
For a Fenway bar it ain't bad. I wish I didn't have to pay five bucks for an awful cover band, but hey it was fun and we got served quickly.
Great place! Would definitely go there again. Went a couple times over the summer after sox games so figured I should come back in the fall and the place still has its charm. The bartender suggested Kilkenny, and now that the days of Blue Moon in the summer are over, I figured I'd give it a shot. REAL GOOD! Kind of like guiness...which is definitely a theme throughout the pub.
What I like most about The Lansdowne is the live music and apparently they are starting to have karaoke on Thursdays now...
I will absolutely have to check that out even though my singing voice is too painful for even my dog to hear. Lets go to the Lansdowne and rock out!
This place has a very classy feel compared to other bars in the area. While still a decent sports bar, this place has good food and a rich atmosphere.
I was shocked at how large the seating was considering it still seemed cozy. There were ample TV's for me to watch the Sox game on even though it wasn't the main focus of the bar. It was a Monday evening with a game in town and I came in during the 7th inning. By the time the game let out, the place really started to fill up and come to life. Due to it's size, when we arrived it was kind of depressing not to see anyone seated at any of the tables, but many of the tables filled up by the time we left.
I really enjoyed their excellent beer selection. They have your usual stuff, but they definitely concentrate on the Irish and English beers. I didn't try any of the mixed drinks or wine. When you're at an Irish pub, it's hard to get anything but a pint.
The food was scrumptious! We got some of the warm cheese dip and it was quite tasty. Since it's made with blue cheese, there is definitely a unique flavor compared to other cheese dips you get. My boyfriend also got the shepards pie and said it was delicous as well.
Didn't have room for the fried twinkie or Mars bar, but will have to try it some other time. Sounds very interesting.
A huge plus is the service! Our Irish waitress was extremely sweet and attentive. She also had an adorable accent!
It's been a month and I'm still swooning over the tall, dark haired, blue/gray eyed, majorly handsome yummy man from Southie who got me plastered off of Jack and Diets at The Lansdowne.
I wish he were a little leprechaun so I could fit him into my pocket and keep him with me wherever I went for good luck.
Too bad life is not like a psychedelic fairytale of rainbows and pots of gold galore with sexy, pocket sized leprechauns.
Gimme a hit of that salvia.

Lansdowne was our final destination in our Boston bar-hopping escapade.

I've been to The Lansdowne twice now. Once for a Yelp Office Hours session, and tonight for dinner with a friend. Both times I was really impressed with the space, the decor, and most importantly... the food AND the staff. Both times staff was very attentive, and really interested in making sure everyone was having a good time and had what they needed. The nibbles (apps) I was able to taste during the office hours was good (slider, fries, and some chips & dip) and tonight I had the Irish stew. I reeeeeally liked the stew. So much so, that I was trying to figure out the spices that were used, and my waitress even went back and spoke with the chef for me!
This would be a great space to host a private event, as they have a side room with a private bar, fireplace, and decent number of tables. They also have a huge dining area, and an outdoor patio. They may have only been open since April, but it seems as though they've been there a long time and are running like clockwork.
With being just a stones throw away from Fenway Park, I'm sure this place has the tendency to get packed during Sox games... but with all their big screen TVs around, it would be a perfect spot to be close to the ball field, even if you didn't have tickets for a game night.
Can't wait to go back!
Maybe my favorite bar in Boston so far; definitely a go-to. It always seems like there are more guys than girls there.. especially if you go at the best time- after a Sox game! Lots of room to dance and jump around in front of the awesome cover bands, and a room on the side for when you need a break or a quieter place to chill and talk. Always a fun time!
My husband and I met up with a couple of friends for drinks and dinner around 5:30 this past Friday night before heading to Jillians for a reunion. None of us had been to The Lansdowne before. From the moment we stepped foot in the restaurant we were impressed. The wood sparkles from the chairs to the bar top. The staff was friendly and all smiles. The overall atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We sat at the bar and one of the bartenders approached us immediately. She was courteous, smiling all the while remaining professional. She recommended a couple of different beers which we tried and loved and the same went for the appetizers. The potato skins and sliders were two of my favorite. We all agreed to meet here next week as none of us ever get into the city since we have children and live in the suburbs, but The Lansdowne is well worth the trip. I urge anyone looking for a relaxing night out in one of the most beautiful bars in Boston with top notch service to go to The Lansdowne Pub. It's the whole package.
I had my goodbye party here last night. Everything, from arranging everything with the planners to the party itself, was absolutely perfect. Everyone at the restaurant was incredibly helpful with everything, making sure my partygoers were all set to getting the apps out quickly.
It's also an incredibly beautiful bar, and in a nice location (Fenway). It's an ideal place to either grab a beer during the game, or on non-game nights, to just get some food and check out the bands, as well as a wonderful place to throw a shindig :D
I love this place. They always have a great live band, people are young and classy (no guidos or trashy girls), and drinks arent too expensive. There is usually a cover but its definitely worth it because its a fun place. The band plays great music and people get silly on the dance floor.
MAY YOU TRIUMPH LANSDOWNE PUB!! in relinquishing the scum that lines your street! take first the putrid monster that allegedly rains tequila! first of all, it doesn't! moreover! everyone knows that often diarrhea shadows the overzealous consumption of such a firewater, so god forbid it did rain tequila! sorry little bastards! (please refer: http://www.yelp.com/bi... )! slutty wenches and watery drinks taint your very doorstep! but you! o pillar of hope! o beacon of better beer!!! o constant star! lead us! lead us!!!! we will follow you to the ends of the earth! to hell!! INDEED!! TO THE DARKEST REACHES OF LANSDOWNE STREET itself!
*big screen projector the size of a small country to watch games on
*longest bar in boston
*quick, friendly waitresses
*large, dynamic menu
*attractive, warming decor
*beer selection is very nice
*raving assholes minimal
*fun live music
I was so sad when Jake Ivory's closed as I have many fond memories of being drunk at the piano bar. However, we recently all went for a friend's birthday and I forgot all about it!
They completely redid the inside and it looks cleaner, more spacious, etc. We had a private room in the back (which was very warm) and we were on a list so we didn't have to pay cover. Nice! We also had our own bartender who was nice and helpful - she even remembered the drinks I ordered! They also let you do car bombs and jager bombs, which was great.
A live cover band played great songs and we all danced. Hiphop/pop music was also played during their breaks to keep the momentum going. All of us had a great time and I think we closed the bar down. I haven't done that in awhile so you know it's good!
It's good. Nothing special - great venue to see a show - small stage. Staff is nice. Food is nothing special but certainly very edible. I wouldn't go out of my way to go - UNLESS there is a band you want to see.
One of the cleaner, less populated establishments in the area. I think their little room in the back is a nice touch and that's the best part about this place. I saw a decent band play here, too. I haven't had the food, except for some typical apps. I haven't had any booze since I was the driver. But the ginger ale and water was good.
The bathrooms were fairly clean, too. Always a bonus.
I'd go here again and I recommend it!
Ehh.. wasn't that impressed. For some reason, I was expecting a smaller, more intimate place. (Silly me...) Went here for a WFNX show - the band was great but I couldn't see! Why on earth would they not have an elevated stage for a band playing at a bar? Oh well...
The place itself seemed OK - clean, fine decor, decent beer prices. Didn't have any food, but saw some and it looked pretty good. The place was just kind of awkwardly layed out; the drink rail kind of trapped people too close to the bar.
I would go back again, just not in any hurry!
I had a fantastic experience here last night. My friend and I stopped in here before the Dead Weather show @ the HOB. Immediately, I loved the decor. Plus, the place is insanely spacious- great for both big and small groups. We saddled up to the bar, and immediately the bartender remembered my friend from a few weeks ago, which is pretty cool. The bartenders/staff were SO FRIENDLY and very attentive. We ordered some "chips" (fries) and they were delicious.
I can't wait to come back here for dinner. Highly recommend!!
The Lansdowne has been on my list of places to visit for awhile and I was finally able to take a trip to this large venue right across from Fenway not once but twice within the same month.
When you walk into Lansdowne you are captivated by the beautiful dark wood that makes up the bar, the booths, the overhead, etc. They have a spacious patio for those wonderful afternoons and evenings during the summer. They have a private room for meetings and other private gatherings with a separate bar.
I actually know several bands that play here and have been meaning to catch them there during their residencies, but unfortunately I had missed most of them. Maybe I'll be able to catch one more band before their residency is up. Speaking of which, they have a pretty sweet set up for bands to play and the acoustics of the place is amazingly awesome. You can't miss a sweet beat no matter where you are in the 'downe even in the private room.
The staff members here are extremely friendly, courteous, and do an excellent job! From servers to bartenders to expediters to host(esse)s, they all deserve a pat on the back for a job well done. They pay attention to details, are cheerful, and ensure that you are taken care of. We also found out that part of the servers training, they must learn the nutritional value (i.e. calories, alcohol content) of each beer on their menu as well as having tasted all the beers! Talk about knowledge is power! These guys don't mess around.
What I love most about the 'downe is the middle countertop-island seating area right in front of the bar. It's crescent shaped and can seat people on either side, and is located right in between the stage and the bar for those there to enjoy a show.
Oh and let's not forget the food. Ohhh... the food! The menu here while a lil on the pricey side is sooooo worth every penny. The chips (or fries to us Americans) with cheese is oozing with deliciousness. The chicken bites have a mild kick and perfectly cooked accompanied with a delicious blue cheese buffalo sauce. The warm cheese dip which comes with these amazing homemade potato chips are to die for!
And if you have some time for a real meal, be sure to try out their Double Cut Pork Chop dinner! It is not only grilled to perfection in a cider pork sauce but it was huge and comes with 2 blue cheese potato cakes. Despite it's size, I devoured the entire plate!
Just a Note for the Ladies: There are plenty of restrooms ladies! No need to fear long lines on a crowded evening. They are also clean! Oh yes and they have.... "THE X-CELERATOR"!!! I love that thing!
So for those of you that haven't had a chance to check out The Lansdowne yet, make sure you get your hiney over there stat!!! You won't regret it!
It's got the Roni's Seal of Approval!
I got out of the bathroom and was trying to find my friends so I could get the hell out and fall into bed when I realized something. My eyes were not playing a trick on me: all of these people blend together to form one frat-tastic blob. Maybe I was just sober.
I came here under the impression that there would be decent music. And one of my best friends turned 21. I will give credit where credit is due: the space is very nice and even though it was crowded, it can hold a LOT of people. There is also a bar in the back that no one thinks to go to that I SHOULD have thought to go to.
But the music here was terrible. And when I asked what the hell kind of music that was my roommate turned to me and said, "it's Boston." I just nodded but I had no idea what I was nodding to.
This place has the potential to be awesome so another visit and a second review are pending... but I can say that the sheer size of this place came in handy when two gross Aussies tried to ask me if I come here often.
I just went to the Lansdown Pub tonight. I had been there once before, but it was after a Red Sox game and packed beyond belief. Tonight there was a great band playing, Great Whiskey Rebellion. They are going to be playing every Sunday night at six, so I highly suggest you go. It is much different then going after a Red Sox game, the atmosphere is amazing, great ambiance, prices aren't horrible. It is an Irish Pub, and carries that ambiance, adn Great Whiskey Rebellion played Irish style music as well. Go here on Sunday nights!!
The Landsdowne is awesome. First off, they have deep fried twinkies... um... yeah... amazing....
Next, the service was simply awesome. Erica was our bartender, and she provided the highest level of service one could expect. Completely attentive to our every need, Erica served our beers with a conversation and a smile.
The staff was excellent, and the ambience was phenomenal. The Landsdowne is certainly a great place to go if you're looking for a good experience near Fenway!
We recently went here for the first time and I wish there was a 3.5 star rating but here goes.
* The place is really cool inside. Even for a faux Irish pub, they did a really nice job and the place is huge but cool
* The food, as mentioned in previous posts is also really good for pub food. Small, but good selection and good selection of brews. You can't get Carlsberg on tap just anywhere!
* Here's where the ding comes in. We ate at the bar and most of the staff need to re-think whether they want to work in a busy place. I know this was a pre-Sox crowd and people can be tough to serve but we can live without the attitudes people!
Overall worth the take; good food, drinks and environment.
Your people are your best asset though management!!
I never got a chance to experience the dueling piano bar venue that existed in this location before hand...but i am kind of glad it's gone. I like the classy irish feel of this place. Lots of space, seems even if it gets crowded you should still be able to maneuver and assemble into a circle with friends.
Being there for an CMYE, I didn't get a chance to try and of the main dishes, but I did get to sample some of their appetizers. The cheese dip with the potato chips was godly. The gravy fries were steak sized and delicious. The potato skins did not look like they came pre-packaged and from the freezer. So props for all of that.
Also the staff that was working was really good at handling the group. The waitress from Ohio, super friendly and really good about checking up on everyone. The staff seemed very warm and friendly. I mean, how often can you talk about Amish people, cedar point, buckeye's, etc to a server/waitress who isn't even getting you a drink (thus no tip). She's awesome and good at her job, I hope she does well there...I hate that I've forgotten her name.
The side bar for private events was good sized, plenty of room to gather at the tables, or at the bar. A great beer selection, and plenty of types of booze (even at the side bar). This place should do well, though it might be on the pricier side of things (7 bucks for a jack and coke...). What can you expect though, it's Boston, it's gonna cost you to drink.
...yes this is a copy and paste of my review, that i accidentally put under "Landsdowne" ... me fail english? that unpossible.
Based on the only other review of this place, I'm thinking maybe I got lucky with the food I ordered or they have gotten their act together after being open for a few weeks. I tried the Guinness Beef Pot Pie and it was delicious -- hearty, with a flaky crust, and came with Irish soda bread. I also sampled the homemade potato chips and cheese dip, which was also yummy.
But here's what impressed me the most -- when I ordered a glass of Malbec and it tasted off, the bartender opened a fresh bottle for me and did not seem at all annoyed. Boston is a beer town and often places keep open bottles of wine around longer than they should and then get pissy if you call them on it. Not only did the bartender open a fresh bottle and pour me a new glass, he also thanked me for letting him know the old bottle was donezo. I thought this was very classy.
The servers were also incredibly friendly. And the decor is cool; much better than what you usually have to settle for right by Fenway. I'll definitely be back.
