One of The Langham, Boston's Favorite Reviews What's This?
Interesting hotel with a mix of the old and the new; best part was the labyrinthine dining rooms/meeting rooms on the second/first floor, with the fantasy-fantastic Bond bar, old map rooms suddenly transforming you to 200 years past, and colonial style paintings with presidential visages. Thats all fine, but just try to get to your room, the ELEVATORS my heavens, it takes 5 minutes just to go down one floor, and at night they are possessed and take you where they want to go, not where you want to go. Rooms themselves were very nice with amazing mattresses, although this is one of those places where housekeeping comes in 3x/day just to rearrange your sheets and curtains for the different sundial settings, stealing away most of the covers in the mostly cold room to leave me a bit chilly at night. Great location overall, but some oddities. I'm sure its expensive but thanks to Teva I was covered.

Attended a wedding here the other weekend and was mostly pleased with the way the Langham handled everything. They let us into the bridal suite early (8:30 AM) and brought us up glasses (for mimosas) and stools for the make up. When we left, the wedding coordinator was incredibly sweet, as was the head bellhop.
At the reception itself, the service was great but they did mess up on a table's seating and had too many people at one of them. However, the rest of the affair was lovely.
Love the random pictures of money everywhere and the large Abe Lincoln in one of the bars.

This review is for the Sunday Brunch experience only.
Based upon the website I was expecting it to be a bit nicer in terms of the decor. It definitely needs updating. It's nice but in an early 90's kind of way. The brunch is buffet style and there is a lot to choose from. The french toast was my favorite item. Everything else was just okay. For $48 I expected WAY better. I think there are other brunch locations in Boston that are less expensive and taste way better.
I attended a charity event held in one of their ball rooms recently.
Buffet of finger foods, and open bar anything... all donated. Automatically gets a good review.
The space was nice and the staff all friendly and very professional. The coat checkers were even donating their tips, which I thought was oh-so-nice.
The party itself was a blast and the Langham delivered on giving this charity event a perfect location.

The location of the hotel is in the financial district. It's close enough to Faneuil Hall Market Place and the subway system to get around. One of the reasons I picked this hotel. The doorman and concierge were helpful in directing us to getting around. The first room they gave us was somewhat oddly laid out, with the restroom behind the TV wall. The second room we got was the configuration of most modern hotel rooms. We ended up with one of the rooms that face into the hotel, looking into the gym. We had rented a car as we were only staying one night and heading out of Boston. The parking was $30 for us, I think.
I booked Langham via Orbitz and had no issues with it. We arrived at about 10:30am and they allowed us to check in early, positive point there. They clerk at the counter stated "yes, you can check in early, but I only have this room next to the elevator". We got into the room and there was a serious buzzing sound along with the floor actually vibrating due to the machine room next door. My husband went down and told them we couldn't stay in the room... low and behold, there are more rooms available. Serious negative. I suspected that they had other rooms available, why would the clerk lie to us?
We went to a Red Sox game and when we got back the room had been visited for turndown service complete with music playing, chocolate on the pillow, and ice int he bucket. Very nice touch.
The second room was fine, the concierge was fine, the doorman was fine, the first clerk ruined most of our experience there.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in Boston, be as WASPy as possible! The Langham will help you get there. It has an elegant old world charm, but sometimes that charm has frayed edges (and could use an update).
The floor plan is also curious, and pays too much attention to the number of rooms it can squeeze in the building. The result? Some misshapen rooms that could use some serious feng shui. You couldn't see the TV from my bed, and my window was an interior one that (voyeuristically) overlooked other guests working out at the gym.
I have stayed at the Langham three times already, once when it was under the ownership of Le Meridien, where a friend of mine got married. The staff has always been great to work with and quite friendly. The rooms are clean and spacious, with turndown service at night. The hotel is located close to the Freedom Trail, near Fanueil Hall and Quincy Market, and only slightly farther to Little Italy.
Best of all was the price. I have always gotten the room through discount or through Hotwire. I never paid over $150, including taxes, and found this hotel to be of superior quality when compared to any other hotel I would find at that price in the area.
My biggest warning is the parking garage- my car door was keyed at my last stay, but I would say that was purely bad luck.

Have stayed here a couple of times.
The good... everyone is very nice. Parking in the building. Near the airport. Near my office. Near some okay restaurants. Bars near the area are okay too, but you get a after-work crowd on the weekdays... decent college bunch on the weekends (see The Place).
The bad... all the rooms have a funky layout. TVs are placed in funny locations. Desks are placed in random places. Each time I've stayed the layout was different, even though I got the same type of room at the same rate. The rewards program is crap.
Latest news: I just heard that they have a Chocolate Bar in the hotel??? A dessert bar just serving chocolate based desserts? Really??? If so, wow.

We stayed here on a lark last summer. It was a short getaway from our toddler who was staying with relatives. We didn't know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised by the beauty and comfort of the room! Love the building and the amenities. Had a great Sunday brunch and the staff was ultra-helpful. The concierge scored us some great seats at a nearby comedy club.
The only downside: the location. The financial district isn't horrible, but there wasn't a whole lot of bustle during the weekend.
I booked a room on Hotwire at the Langham. Although Hotwire classifies it as a 4.5 star hotel, I'd give it a solid 4 ranking. I travel a lot, and found the hotel to be great, but due to the small room size and slightly aging room, I would knock that last .5 star off. Overall, I'd recommend it, especially if you can score it under 200 bucks on Hotwire. Good location too if you're in town for work or pleasure.

I stayed here with a girlfriend during the summer and really liked this hotel. It sits directly in downtown Boston's financial district and if you catch this area on a weekend it is a ghost town. It is close to all the hot spots of Boston including blocks away from famous Quincy Market, the waterfront and the Boston Common. All within walking distance. The interior is very nice with upscale lobby and very nice restaurants. One of these restaurants has a Saturday afternoon chocolate bar and for thirty five dollars you can eat all sort of chocolate samples. The staff is nice although seemed a bit snobby for my taste. The check in process was painless, but in asking for help they acted disturbed. The rooms were very nice with a nice bathroom and very spacious. Seeing that this place is close by to everything, I would highly recommend it. Bring your wallet though, it is not the cheapest place in the city to stay.
The Langham is a fairly nice place, but should be a lot better for the price. There are definitely better hotel deals to be had in Boston. The rooms are nicely appointed, but show some signs of wear. And come on, give me a decent TV with which to watch crappy reality shows while dining on your fairly tasty room service. They also give you slippers, but they aren't meant for men. Either that or I have really big feet. But I still wear them, because feet are gross and sometimes a man just needs to wear some womens' slippers. Right?
The actual hotel was pretty nice, minus the fact that our bathtub filled up with water after my shower and wouldn't drain... We ordered a burger from room service and it was totally worth the $20, it might have been the best burger and fries I've had in a hotel ever. Then we got the car in the garage and left. It cost us $50 to park!!! I know Boston garages will take your first born, which is why we would have parked somewhere else if this one didn't have the red Langham awning over it; they don't validate. We were there from 11pm to 9:30am...I feel like we got screwed.
