    The Landfall rocks!
Some of the waitresses are more efficient than others, but all of them are so nice. My favorite is the sassy redhead- she's the best.
The Landfall is super casual, if you go during the winter try to get a table near the wood stove. That's right- wood stove, people.
Food- The breakfasts are yummy! I stick to the Joe's special or the veggie omelet, and husband is an oatmeal fan. The Swedish style pancakes are crispy, but never burnt. Lunch is swell, too. My personal fave is the Gorgonzola and Onion Burger, but you don't have to get a gut-bomb. The other offerings are just as delicious :-)

This is the source of one of the most fantastic breakfasts I've ever had in my life. Corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, a real biscuit, dang, it was perfect. (It didn't hurt that my sweetie and I had gotten engaged the night before on the beach at Fort Worden, but hey). ;-)

The service was super; I always feel like I know it's going to be good when the waitresses are all 50-somethings, friendly but no-nonsense, will tell you the truth when you ask this or that? which one's better? and who keep your coffee cup full without being pestered at all.

The prices are totally reasonable. They have exotic breakfast stuff (salmon, and a few other things I don't remember) but the corned beef hash was homemade and I don't need fancy when DELICIOUS is jumping up and down in front of me.

Decor is simple family-style diner. This is not a dress-to-impress joint. If you need to be an all-in-black poseur, you will not be all that comfortable here, because nobody will be impressed or give you a second glance. LOL

This is a place where the locals go all the time. For breakfast especially, that usually means good things.

We didn't try lunch here but the menu looked good and I bet the food is good too.
    ==========
Repeat visits let us discover that the kids' menu is good, and lunch is great, and the service is once in a while a smidge spotty but it's delivered mostly by experienced waitresses in their 50s who know how to laugh at themselves and their own mistakes. I love it here and even a few missteps once in a while can't take away the charm and the bitchinness of the food.

The restrooms are out back and they are amazing. Clean and well-heated, but smelling of many years of snuck cigarettes, the ladies' is equipped with a fabulous chunk of shag carpet the size of a mirror on the back of the door. I think it's the cigarette-smoke-stench-retention-device. I hate hate HATE cigarette smoke, and times twenty when it's stale, but somehow, I just have to LAUGH about this restroom (while peeing quickly so I can get the hell out of the stench).

Being on holiday, you tend to wake up late. Today we did and I was fiending for brekkie with bacon. When we drove up, we found the sign that noted the hours for breakfast. We were late, it was after noon. When a server sat us down and took our drink orders she said they served breakfast all day during the winter, SCORE!

The Landfall is at the end of Water street next to a marina so you can dine with a view of the boats. I ordered eggs over easy, hash browns and my morning requirement of bacon. The eggs were cooked just right, four strips of bacon hot off the pan and the hash browns were great. My lady friend ordered the blueberry french toast. It came out like a slice of pie or cake, layers of french toast on top of one another with cream cheese and blueberries for filling. It came with a side of melon, cantaloupe and grapes. The prices here are great. Yelp is great for finding what you're looking for and didn't disappoint.

I sailed from Seattle to Port Townsend on a sunny January Saturday. By the time we docked in PT it was time to eat!
We were walking into town and the friend I was with said she'd eaten here at the Landfall café once before... I took a gander down water street and decided the Landfall looked great!
We went inside and not that I have anything against the little guys but it did look like the preschool bus had parked outside. It was crawling with kids. We stayed anyway and we were glad we did. The room we ate in was hexagonal  with a wood stove for heat. Vines growing up the walls and places where daylight showed through the plank walls. There was a floor though at one time I bet there wasn't. It was charming.
The waitress (the ONLY waitress) was running her ass off! Oh wait... she didn't have an ass. She reminded me of a Berkley hippie throwback.. way back. But she was very nice... despite the fact that she had too many tables for one waitress. At one point people came in and stood (for quite a while) and when no one approached them and they didn't see a "seat yourself" sign they left. Don't go here expecting the dining out rules to be followed. I think you need to leave your expectations for a fine dining experience at the door.
Our waitress quickly tossed us a couple of menus and said we could order breakfast OR lunch. They had some interesting looking things on the menu. My friend had an egg dish on her previous visit. Kalmata olives, artichoke hearts, fresh spinach and maybe chevre? I can't remember the cheese. She raved about it.
This time she ordered a black bean and corn quesadilla.. she was sure she wouldn't be able to finish it but I watched her head drop to lick her plate when she was done... kidding.
I had corned beef hash.. house made corned beef.. yummy! If you follow my reviews you'll see I have a love affair with good corned beef... and boy when it's NOT good.. yikes. This was wonderful... I let my friend lick my plate too!
I had a mimosa.. It arrived in a wine glass but I wasn't going to whine about that. My friend and I both ordered water, she without ice. She got a glass of water WITH ice and I got none.... Until I asked a second time. Like I said.. the assless Berkley gal was working at a fever pitch.

The best dive EVER has closed... SO SAD. Basically the recession and city forced them out. Really, really sad. Their Eggs Sardou was the best and will be sorely missed. Have to figure out ho wto make that at home now, fat chance.
