Two 1 hour Relaxation Massage Gift Certificates for…
Announced 12 days agoI loved this place. Two girlfriends and I called late on Saturday afternoon for three appointments the next day, they could fit us all in. The waiting room is actually really nice and relaxing, complete with cucumber water. My treatment room was right off the waiting room and I didn't hear any talking/noises from outside. No wait either, my therapist was right on time.
My therapist, Hannah, was excellent-perfect amount of pressure and she worked my back out so well. One of the best massages I've ever had and I've had a number. My friends also thoroughly enjoyed their masseuses. The rooms were a little cold, we all felt that way, but they mentioned their A/C was out the day before, so I'll rack this up to something that doesn't ordinarily happen. I will go back and highly recommend this place.

I've been running for a while now, and fairly recently have moved into distances for which my wife calls me crazy. I have often considered getting a massage after a long run, but never got around to it. Finally, after the Old Goats 50k last weekend, i called up the Knot Stop (chosen based on Yelp reviews) and made an appointment. They had an opening later that day with Chris. I got the hour long sports massage ($49 special for first timers like myself!) and it was great. Chris kneaded and prodded and stretched me this way and that. By Tuesday it was as if i had never run that damn race (did i mention the 7500 feet of elevation gain? the lack of any flat trails whatsoever? ). I've got some more crazy races coming up, and i will be sure to make an appointment here after each one.

Since switching my insurance, I have lost my chiropractic coverage. In need of some serious treatment, I opted for a deep tissue massage, boy did I need it!
When you first walk in, they have a lounge to relax in while you wait to go into your massage room. The lounge is nice, comfy and relaxing. Once you get into the room, a personal level of ambiance and comfort is found. From relaxing music, to soothing aromas, this was very good for relaxing and mellowing out.
My masseuse Julie was very helpful. I knew where my problem spots were, but didn't know how to go about curing that. She made some recommendations and was really right on the money with them. After an hour that went by way too quick, my back, neck and legs felt great.
I thoroughly enjoyed my massage and my experience here. This is a place I will definitely be coming back to. Unfortunately, I wish I could afford to come back weekly, but since I can only do once a month or so, I will be ok with that knowing that I am getting quality service here.

I started working out again and over did it a little bit. Oy Vey! You know you get out of bed and you feel like you are a hundred. Well I remembered the great reviews I read on yelp about The Knot Shop so I decided to give it a shot. I had a fantastic experience. The massage was excellent and I felt bad because the masseuse had to kill himself to break some of the tense muscles. The receptionist was also very cordial and genuine. Great massage and great vibe. The only bad thing is that parking is limited so just get there at least 20-25 minutes early. Trust me. I circled for about 15 minutes. Don't let the parking stop you though because when you leave the Knot Stop you will be so relaxed you will have forgotten where you parked your car. I felt like I was drunk or something. Give it a try. (^_^)

Great concept and great practioners - but they're getting so popular it's hard to get an appointment. But if you can - they do a terrific job - ask for Christian - the sexy French guy that'll have your mind wandering...but back to the review... The facilities are clean, calm, quiet, and the staff is super friendly. Rub a dub dub!
As many of you know...I'm totally buff. I'm really strong with huge-normus muscles. I can crush walnuts between my butt cheeks and smash Pepsi cans with my biceps. Sometimes, when I've been been gettin' my Gym on a little too hard, I need the soft touch of a gentle giant to soothe my bulging boulders.
That is all complete nonsense...but the point here is, I got a sweet massage from a dude the other day at Knot Stop.
It's actually the second time I was rubbed out by a guy at the 'Stop. Sure that sounds gross, but I don't care. My body loves me right now.
The first time I was in there, this guy named Christian hooked me up with an incredible deep tissue massage. To quote the great Ice Cube..."it was so deep, it put my ass to sleep." OK...maybe not an exact quote, but I'm paraphrasing. My second go-around was even better. This fascinating guy named Jeff had the honor of rubbin' down the Rug Doctor. I guess he was a civil engineer and put together some big projects in San Diego...including the erection of Petco Park.
Did I really just use the word erection in a review about a guy rubbing my body with hot massage oil? I guess I did...
Anyway, he was a trip. He totally dismissed the suit and tie for a career as a masseuse. A pretty bold move if you ask me. However, after the massage he gave me, I'm glad he left his previous profession. That shits felt grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!
I've only had a handful of rub-downs in my day...and there weren't too many happy endings (not that kind). I've been more than satisfied with my two visits to the Knot Stop and I'll most definitely be back for more.

Spas are for suckers!!
Affordable and always does it for me, friendly staff too. Only had body work so I cannot review the work out/pilates, Genevieve is my go to person, intuitive with strong hands if like me you prefer a deep tissue to what I call a "petting".
I have had work done where I felt totally aware of myself and of the fact that a stranger, both hes and shes, was touching me but with her and Cecilia( also very good) i space out and an hour later i came to feeling golden.
If you want to do something nice for someone or yourself for $50, don't be a cheese and get a gift card, unless it's for The Knot Spot!

I came here off a recommendation of a friend. I like Knot Stop because they have great pricing for hour-long massages. I'm really over going to spas to spend $80 on a 30-minute massage when I can come to The Knot Stop for about $40 to $50 for one hour. I've concluded that you really pay for ambiance at a spa when you get massages. I had David and he was really good. Making sure I was comfortable throughout the process.

I am always hesitant of massage places in shopping complexes but it was in my hood so I figured I would give it a shot. The masseuse you get is pretty much a crap shoot until you can find the one you really like but even then 9 times out of 10 you get a pretty good one. The key is finding the one that gels with you and understands your massage needs. The prices are very reasonable and if you sign up for their "rub club" it's even more affordable. If you prefer male therapists, Ricardo is spot on and really knows his business. He really listens to your needs and if you give him free reign to do what he feels your body needs, it's even better. Female therapists... Gilda. She rocks.
I'd give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the noise you hear from the outside from time to time and/or their music selection is kinda weak. But as far as ambiance, service and staff, they're pretty good and the fact they're not in Pacific Beach is a total plus.
I received the best massage ever from one of the guys there. Comfortable installations and friendly staff!
Muy bueno!
I'm torn on this one. I appreciate the Knot Stop for being affordably delicious, but after all was said and done, I now understand why spectacular spa services are often so costly. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to massages. For $50 at The Knot Stop, I got a massage on an uncomfortable little table, a masseuse with cold, dry hands and the sound of people walking and talking right outside of my massage room door. I found it nice that each masseuse takes the time to talk to their client about what they're looking to gain from their massage, however mine must have tuned out that day. I asked for medium pressure on the lighter side and I got a rough rub-down that left me bruised and bitter.
I really don't want to be so negative but ... it is what it is!
Massages are a favorite holiday gift for my staff, and my wife and I typically indulge a couple of times a year. I have been pretty loyal to the spa at Paradise Point until this year, when I switched up to the Knot Stop (largely based on the positive reviews here). Today was the first time my wife and I had a chance to go get one ourselves.
We got a couples' massage that easily rivaled the quality we were used to at Paradise Point. The interior at Knot Stop isn't as swank, nor is there a steam room, shower, and pool to enjoy, but the massage itself was fantastic.
The mission of the Knot Stop is to make this type of indulgence a more regular part of people's lives (to that end, they schedule massages all day, 7 days a week), and after our experience today, I can't think of a good reason not to make them a monthly ritual.

You know it's a good massage when you lay there thinking, "I should have opted for 90 minutes" and you're not even sure how much time is left. I had Ed and he gave me an excellent Deep Tissue with even pressure throughout, making my toes curl and butt tense up with just enough pressure, but not quite enough to make me ask him to ease up. I even got the Feb special, which was $49/60 min. It's only good M-F 10am-3pm though, but damn, it was worth it.

I have gone here TWICE and have had the WORST MASSAGE EXPERIENCES!
The first time, I booked a swedish massage-I was very achy and sore from working out. I needed just moderate firm strokes to just push all that lactic acid out of my muscles to relieve the soreness. When the massage starts, she is basically just applying oil over my body. I asked if she could use a little more pressure and told me that that was out of the scope of a swedish massage-SHE WASN'T EVEN USING ANY PRESSURE!!! okay, so I thought to myself, maybe she will give me a relaxing massage where i will just zone off! Well no, the entire experience was horrible!!! If I wanted to apply oil to my entire body for an hour I would have done it myself and saved myself the money!
I have gotten plenty of massages in my life and knew that perhaps it was just this therapist. So after having recently moved, I was in need of a good massage, so I decided to give this place another chance, This time I booked and hour DEEP Tissue massage. My therapist was JULIE, She began to massage me and after about 10 minutes into the massage I realize she isn't really working my muscles out, I ask her if she could go in deeper and she told me that that is as Deep as she can go because her wrist hurt! While I sympathize that her wrist hurt-she shouldn't have been qualified to do deep tissue massages then. I wouldn't have come in if I knew I was going to get a Swedish! I needed some deep work done on my shoulders and back-I just finished moving! Well then to make matters even worse-she sorta attempted to go in deeper I guess by digging her nails into my body!!!!! What therapist has long nails????? I could not wait for the time to be up, I should have told her to just stop and that I couldn't take it anymore-I don't know I felt like I couldn't say that though...Well, I told the receptionist that she should tell julie to cut her nails and that that wasn't a deep massage. The Receptionist (who was asian and had braces-don't remember her name) recommended that in the future I book a deep tissue with a Male therapist! I was slightly insulted by that-because I have gone to plenty of female therapist in the past who have been able to give a great deep tissue massage! And on top of it, I'm 5 6' and weigh 110lbs! It's not like I was some 250lb guy complaining about getting a tiny petite therapist!
By the way I went home and had a friend look at my back, because it really hurt. She said that were horrible scratches all over my lower back and shoulders!!! I looked in the mirror and there they were!!!! I was soooo disgusted and angry! My friend suggested that I call and complain in the morning-but I'm so over dealing with that place. The therapist was horrible, the receptionist was unhelpful I couldn't imagine what anyone else they could do....
While they have a nice ambience and relatively afforadable prices-both my previous massages have been the Two WORST massage experiences and I have had alot!
Perhaps they do have some good therapist there. But I'm not going to invest any more money hoping that I get a qualified therapist.
I wil not return to this place.

I really want to give this place five stars... but I can't. I bought my boyfriend and myself massages for Valentine's Day as a special treat, and while mine was amazing, his just was not so special.
I'll start with mine: I had a deep tissue massage with Debbie, who made me feel young again. I told her my complaints, mostly running-related, and she took off, working her insanely strong hands into knots I never knew were there. I didn't say a word the entire time, and she intuitively knew to work muscles I hadn't even complained about. By the time I walked out of there, I was limber and fancy-free.
Unfortunately, my lovah's therapist was Melissa, if he remembered her name correctly, and she sucked. Sorry, Meliss. She talked to him throughout the ENTIRE hour-long massage and didn't work on places he had specifically asked her to. He should have told her to shut her yap, but he's shy and didn't, and walked out of there totally unrelaxed.
He also pointed out that although our massages started at 1:45 (we were on time, but there was paperwork) and should have lasted an hour, they scooted us out of there at 2:30 on the dot. I didn't really care because my massage felt like it lasted forever, but it just made the experience an even worse gift. Boo. I would definitely go back to Debbie, but beware of scheduling an appointment with someone you don't know. And be on time.
I appreciate the Knot Stop because the people are always friendly and the atmosphere is serene. I have had massages with 4 different maseuses and they were all different. None of them were below average but Coco was the best.

Experiencing symptoms of a grueling month at work? The Knot Stop relieved the muscle aches, stiffness and tension that I've experienced from my head, neck and down to my shoulder blades over the last few weeks. True to Yelp's high rating about Knot Stop, this place relieved all of my muscle tension and stress that developed from my very demanding job. My one hour experience at the hands of Debbie was outstanding and you should try it! My husband continues to shake his head when I told him that I've scheduled an extended 90-minute massage in the next two weeks!
I had a deep tissue massage by Coco last week, and it was AWESOME. :) I know there's that pilates studio next door and some people have written about the noise in their reviews, but I didn't have any noise issues. The waiting area is very quaint and cute. The place and bathroom seems very clean. Also, the staff and my masseuse was very courteous! I'm definitely coming back here in a few weeks for a sports massage. I never was into the whole spa experience...spending $$$$$ on a massage...this place is very affordable and well worth it. Thanks for the reviews yelpers!

I should preface this review by saying I am really NOT a massage person. Before this week I'd had two in my life and wasn't real enthused either time.
My fabulous wife loves this place, and talked me into getting a pregnancy massage. Partners and husbands, here's a tip - get your pregnant lady a pregnancy massage. Call The Knot Stop and ask for Elizabeth. While you're waiting, pop into Trader Joe's and get her a quart (yes, a QUART) of Ben and Jerry's for afterward.
BUT back to the massage...Elizabeth was friendly, personable, made me feel comfortable right away, AND gave me a great massage. She also does reiki, and the baby and I both got some at the end of the hour. For $69 (regular massage is less, but us pregnant people are special), I will be back a few times before our little guy gets here...

Thank you Yelp. I've been looking for a massage place for a while now and have now found one in the Knot Stop. I called in around 1:00pm and got an appointment that same afternoon at 5:00pm.
The first thing I noticed when I walked through the doors was all the workout equipment for the yoga/pilates studio that shares the space. Then I realized the Knot Stop desk must be to the left. The receptionist was friendly and led me behind a door to the waiting area. The waiting area was a much more relaxing atmosphere than the lobby, there was dim lighting and the overall decor was stylish yet comforting. (Side note, the bathroom is really nice too. Clean and decorated to look more like a bathroom you'd find at home instead of at a business. Even had a full-size shower - though I don't know if it's for customer use.)
After a few minutes of filling out the paperwork and waiting, my therapist came and introduced herself (Emily), shook my hand (she had nice strong hands) and led me to the massage room. She asked me about the level of pressure that I preferred (I signed up for the deep-tissue) and asked if there were any specific areas that needed to be targeted. I told her that my lower back was the specific area I needed worked on, and she mentioned that with deep-tissue massages, there isn't always time to do a full-body massage. I said that was no problem and that she could spend the entire time on my lower back if necessary.
The massage itself was amazing. Probably the best I've ever had. She had a great grasp of muscle physiology. I've had other deep-tissue massages where the masseuse just goes to town on my back and I end up in pain because they didn't know what the heck they were doing. Not Emily, she knew her stuff and while I'm not going to say it didn't hurt (I was almost ready to cry Uncle at one point), it was a "good" hurt that is supposed to come with a deep-tissue massage. She checked with me a few times during the massage to make sure the pressure was ok, so I had plenty of times to tell her to lighten up if necessary.
After the massage, Emily was waiting for me outside the massage room with a cup of water and a slip of paper that summarized the work she'd done and some suggestions (stretch, epsom salt bath).
Needless to say, I walked out to the receptionist and booked an appointment for my next massage. They have a membership program similar to many other establishments, but they didn't try to shove it down my throat or trick me into signing up for stuff that I didn't want or need (as I've experience with some other massage places).
I'll update after my next massage and hope to have more rave things to say.
Needless to say, I already booked my follow up
I went to the Knot Stop this eeeevening... I had an appointment with Stefan but the stars were aligned and I was feeling lucky and ended up with a very attractive and talented massuese named Jeff.
Jeff oiled me up and I laid around with my thoughts...
"suck in yer gut"
"don't fart, don't fart.... "
by the way it is hard to suck in your gut and not fart. Gas never happens to me. No. Really.
It was also hard not to feel somewhat turned on, a new experience for me at a place like that. I really could have used a front rub, ya know? Jeff was very professional though. The lights were dimmed..... he hit the lights on and I looked in the mirror at myself. Oily Medusa! Is this what my life has come to? Paying men to touch me?

I got a massage at the Knot Stop today, because it's close to where I live and all the yelpers love it.
And, I must say - thank you!
I got a deep tissue massage from Jeff, and it was so wonderful. His hands are like magic, he was putting pressure on some points of my tense shoulders and I felt electric running all down my body. He was very good at putting just the right amount of pressure, because I like it deep, but I have left a massage WAY too sore in the past.
When he was doing the slow, deep strokes down my spine and lower back, I swear if I were a guy I would've gotten a boner (how do all of you men NOT get boners when getting a rub down?)
Anyway, he massages my legs and all I can think is "dammit, if he's squishing my thighs like that, it makes cellulite, I know it!" Stupid, I know. But I couldn't help it.
Luckily, he gets to the feet, and I start purring again. Aided by the exotic music, I imagine I am a concubine who has run away from the harem to a beautiful place where the men cater to your every whim.
Not bad for $59!

After reading the reviews, and after running the Disneyland half marathon, I thought a visit to the Knot Stop was in order. I called and booked an appointment for a 60 minute deep tissue massage. Upon entering, I was kindly greeted and asked to fill out a questionnaire about current needs, issues, etc. The waiting area I found to be tranquil and serene.
Once inside the room, my masseuse Jenny went to work on my aching muscles. I usually have males work on me as they seem to provide deeper pressure, but I was pleasantly surprised. She was able to get out knots in my back when others were unsuccessful. The only reason I wouldn't rate this 5 stars is that it's adjacent to a pilates studio, with hardwood floors, and no soft fabrics to help with the noise. You could hear laughter and loud voices echoing during my massage. But after about ten minutes, I kind of lost all that due to the relaxation coma I was entering.
I've been to dozens of spas/resorts/etc. but I have to say for the money, the Knot Spot is a great massage experience.

Christian did a great job working out all the knots in my shoulders and neck and was also very thorough in doing the rest of my body as well including things like pressure points in my feet. I came across the reviews for this place a while back (thanks yelp!!) and bookmarked their site for a future massage. Well my husband suggested yesterday morning that we should go get massages in the evening. So immediately I thought of giving this place a try. I figured they wouldn't have any openings at such short notice - especially for two people. To my surprise they were able to get us both in at the same time that evening.
We arrived early and filled out of forms and off we went. My husband's massage therapist was Katie and I had Elizabeth. We both got the 1 hour firm swedish massage (an awesome value at $49 for first time clients). We both we amazed and impressed - the best massages we have ever had! Both Katie and Elizabeth listened to what we wanted and were extremely skilled in their massages. It was so much more than the pansy fluff massages we have had before at other places!
The only somewhat of a negative is that there is a pilates studio in the same space and we could both hear the noise at times.
We will definitely be returning for more massages!!
UPDATE 3/10: I had a firm swedish from Lauren last week and she was amazing! The only unfortunate thing is that we had to go to their upstairs suite for the massage and it must have extremely thing walls (as compared to downstairs) because for about 45 min of the hour massage I could hear the MT next door talking to his client the ENTIRE time. So frustrating since she gave an amazing massage! They are getting docked a star (it would be 1/2 a star but we all know that can't happen)!

My wife and I have just moved here from San Francisco, while we lived in Nor Cal we would get body work done every two weeks. With that said, I was worried that I would not be able to find an establishment that was affordable and friendly. Fortunately, we happened across a review from a fellow yelper and I called to make an appointment for this morning. They easily accommodated and booked us for the 10am slot We both had great experiences, the place is clean, the music is chill and the people are ultra cool. My therapist's name was Elizabeth. Look her up if you are searching for some deep tissue work done. Easy parking....

I had been meaning to try this place out for some time, and the good reviews on here convinced me to treat myself at bonus time. I am so glad that I finally went.
Parking is plentiful in the shopping center where the Knot Stop is located, which is the one on University with the Ralphs and Trader Joe's. The Knot Stop is located right next to the Starbucks opposite Trader Joe's.
When you first walk in, it's not as instantly delightful as higher-end spas, but it's not a spa, and if you know that, you won't be disappointed. After checking in, they send you into a charming little waiting area with dim lighting and the obligatory glass, ice water dispenser with bits of citrus fruits floating in it. There you will fill out a little info sheet about yourself, about how hard you like your massage, where it hurts, whether you are too modest to let the therapist see your thighs; that sort of thing. You can also opt to add aromatherapy for $10, which I did not, so I can't tell you how that is.
Soon your therapist will come and get you from the waiting room and will actually ask you clarifying questions about the form you just filled out. They really try to deliver whatever it is that you, personally, want from the massage. In other words, it's not a canned treatment like you get from many high-end spas. The treatment room is equal to any treatment room in Burke Williams. It has a very comfortable table, low lighting, and soft new age music. It smells good and seems very clean.
My therapist was Katy and I got a "firm swedish" massage. It was heavenly. My hour felt like at least two, she had time to slowly do my entire body on both sides, and then concentrate on my stiff neck for another ten or so minutes. She was really strong. It was the firmest massage I've ever gotten in a very good way. I could really feel my fascia unbinding. It was only a little painful and I wasn't sore the next day.
You pay at the end, and that is the best part of the experience. I find that checking out of an expensive spa creates enough anxiety to negate the peace you thought you were buying. There's nothing relaxing about dropping 3 C-notes on 2 hours getting scrubbed with wheat stalks. With tip and everything, my Knot Spot experience cost only $64 (first time discount). I was able to carry my peace right through the tiny transaction and slept well that night.
It's worth noting that the Knot Spot has a membership program where you pay for a certain number of massages in advance and get a reduced price for those and all others during the period, in addition to other perks like discounted aromatherapy.

I guess I'm not as easily impressed by the rest of these yelpers. I've actually had several non-pleasant experiences at this place. Yes, some of their therapists are great... but...
I once scheduled an appointment with someone I hadn't seen before. I specifically asked to not have this one other woman because of her name. Kind of stupid, I know... but I had a roommate with that name and it just gave me a bad impression of people with that name. Trite, yes... Human, also yes.
So I show up, wait for the therapist and it turns out the girl I was booked with couldn't make it and they failed to tell me. Honestly, I wouldn't have booked with this lady because I just had a feeling it wouldn't be a good match for me. I got her anyways. It matters to me. I didn't like the girls energy. She was too harsh.
Yes, it's nice to be able to get in quickly but let's at least inform clients when things change.
Gordon is great but I've had a guy there who felt creepy.
I've since found a guy with a private practice who is AWESOME and more affordable than this place. I also think it's rude they don't have a place to write on a tip and you have to tell the receptionist.
This is another place I found just by virtue of its high yelp rating. And it's ten minutes away from my house! Even sweeter!
The Knot Stop is one of those places that's easy to miss unless you're looking for it. I called it Narnia under my breath as I first walked into the shop, nestled in one of the many stores in the urbane shopping center on 10th and University in Hillcrest. I called at noon trying to find a good time for an appointment, and found that they could see me next at 12:30. My jaw dropped. They didnt' have any male masseuses on hand, but they had a few on call, and were happy to call them in for when I arrived.
When I finally made it through the wardrobe and reached the slightly hard to find Narnia (look near the Starbucks), I was very impressed by the professionalism, great atmosphere, and the amazing prices. Massages start at $49/hr for first time visitors (although if you like deep tissue, like I do, it'll start you out at $59, fine by me).
Lest you be worried, the prices are fantastic for the service you get. I've paid nearly twice that much for an equally good massage in L.A. My masseuse was a guy named Reuben, and he was amazing. Friendly, professional, and very good, I felt the tension of the last week of teaching plus a week of building homes in Mexico fall away almost immediately. An amazing, amazing place that I would recommend highly to everyone. Definitely give it a shot.
-------------
EDIT: August 15, 2007: I just went back for the second time, and it was even better than before. I am seriously madly in love with this place.
Edit #2: Sept 12: Ruben, you freaking rock at giving massages. This place rules.

I really like this place. My back has been giving me problems s I decided to call in the day and see if I can get an appointment right after work. They fit my in at the perfect time of 645pm.
I got a male therapist, which I dont care since Im not picky on that sort of thing. The massage was great. He did a combination of techniques. From deep, to soothing swedish to pressure points, to stretching me a bit. Man it felt good. And $49 for first timers is a great price. Even at $59 its still such a good deal.
The place itself is in a shopping center inside the pilates place next to Starbucks. Its pretty quiet and small but very comfortable and relaxing.
Im giving it a 4 for now, but Im gonna keep coming back. I will bump it up to 5 if I get a consistant good experience.
Oh, another great thing about this place is that its open late everyday....till 9pm even on sat and sun which is such a convenience for people with a regular work schedule.

This place is great!!! At first I was a bit skeptical since the prices seemed so low but after reading some of the reviews I figured what the heck. The first think I liked was there was plenty of parking then from the moment I walked in everyone was very polite. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the questionnaire made me feel as if though they really wanted to please me. Almost immediately my masseuse, Michael, introduced himself and reviewed my questionnaire. He made me feel very comfortable and provided one of the best massages I have ever had. I highly recommend this place to anyone. I have been to swankier places and trust me, you can get the same treatment and professionalism here for a better price. I will definitely be back....with friends!

I would do 3.5 if I could. It was a great massage, the ambiance was totally spa-y and great. However, my masseuse was a full blown nutter. I could have stopped him at the beginning of the massage by saying I didn't want to talk but I didn't. And I was treated to some really insane stuff. Including him referring to his girlfriend's genitals in a totally old school, slang-y term that almost caused me to choke.
That being said, I bought my boyfriend a gift certificate and plan on going back but asking for a different masseuse. Again, I think the whole thing could have been averted--I could have said, "Oh, I don't like talking" but instead I heard about his aborted porn career and his girlfriend's...ladyparts.

This has been the best place I've gotten a massage ever! It's too bad I live in L.A. The place is small yet really nice and tucked into a hip little shopping area. Their masseuses are very accomodating and know what they're doing. Kudos to this place!

I love this place. Not only is it in a super convenient location in Hillcrest (the strip mall where TJ's is- and there's no shortage of parking), but the quality of massage you can get here is the same or better than at swankier places. Now, this place is cute for sure- it's got the requisite soft candles and cucumber-infused water-- but don't expect your fancy magnolia pre-massage bath here.
Nadine and Sze have said everything important, so I'll just add this note-- Shelly is amazing with deep tissue/therapeutic massage. I've had this horrible pulled muscle in my neck/shoulder area that's made it impossible to even turn my head to the left (a problem when you're trying to switch lanes on the freeway!). But after seeing her today, I'm doing so much better- and it's only been two hours since then! You know where I'll be next Friday afternoon...
oh, and couples massage is nice here too!

I have been there twice now and must say I am very pleased with both of my experiences there. Although the first time the woman giving me my massage did tell me my tattoo was creepy. Yeah thanks for your opinion...now get rubbing!
I love the atmosphere of the waiting area it gets you in the mood for relaxation. I was also pleased with the over all massage and for the price that makes it all worth the while!
I will be back!
