We recently had my mom's celebration of a life at the John Carver Inn.  I had never been to the place and did everything by phone, but I got a very good vibe on the phone, and everyone was professional, returning calls and sending paperwork with speed and when promised.  I was still worried until the day of the memorial if things would go well (I'm a worrier), but it was beyond my expectations.

The waitstaff were discreet and very efficient, as suiting a more solemn occasion.  The room itself was beautiful.  Everything was exactly as promised.

But on to the food - OMG!  I was stuffed for two days.  Good quality rolls, a gorgeous salad, sides of hot veggies and roasted potatoes, and the best baked fish I've had in years, pasta alfredo with veggies, and lemon chicken (basically, something for everyone) and apple crisp that kept getting repeat customers.  Coffee and tea were also provided as part of the buffet price.  Alcoholic drinks and sodas were extra.

The bereavement menu is a very good value, and I noticed even the wedding type menus seem super reasonable.

If you live in the Plymouth area and want a reasonable place to have a function, I would highly recommend the John Carver Inn.  And the pool looked awesome, wish I stayed over, but I only live 45 minutes away!

This is a beautiful Inn in Plymouth. They have a pool shaped like the Mayflower and a hot tub which resembles Plymouth Rock. They have a wonderful function facility, which I highly recomment. I had my wedding there and everything went smoothly. They are right across the street from Brewster Gardens which is a great place for pictures. Their restaurant is worth the drive also. Very homey feeling.

Ate dinner with four friends in September in the public dining room (just to contrast with the function room reviews posted by others). Service was good. Food was average. I'm trying to find something to raise this review, but it really was average.

I hate this place.  The food is dreadful and lacks any flavor.  The place is tacky and dark.  Very grim.  The homey feeling is that the food tastes like what your grandma might make.
