I haven't Yelped in a really long time but there was one place that I've been meaning to Yelp because they totally deserve 5 stars if not more....

This has to be the BEST bed and breafkast EVER.  From the moment we first walked in the door,  we felt right at home.  We were greeted and taken on a tour of the whole complex and into our suite which was soooo awesome.  There was a hot tub right in the middle of the room.  The walls were covered with a wine/plum colored wall paper which was so beautiful.  There was so much detail in all of the room, even the toilet paper was folded into a mini fan.  There was everything you can think of for toiletries including make up removers and a black wash cloth which made me smile because I use black washcloths at home so the make up doesn't stain it!  There was a mini bottle of champagne waiting for us and lots of home made treats! The place was amazing!!  Breakfast was also amazing... a breakfast gnocchi and lots of fresh baked homemade treats and a cereal/oatmeal bar with a variety of different things to choose from!  The hosts are so welcoming and friendly!  I will definitely be back again and recommending this place to everyone I know.

Ditto to virtually everything everyone has written.

Personal highlights:

- Genuinely friendly, personal, unpretentious service was unbelievable.  The time they spent marking up our maps (which they provided) so we could see the best that Napa had to offer was invaluable.  There's 600+ wineries there, if you've never been, it's overwhelming without someone's help.

- Breakfast.  My God can that man cook.  Everything is absolutely delicious and I promise you that if you stay more than one night you'll have something you've never tried before.

- The room was VERY spacious (Meritage) and had a standup shower, separate toilet room and hottub in the room.

- The location cannot be beat.  Minutes walking to downtown on a quiet, wooded street.

Minor negatives:

- T.V. was what seemed like a 19" and was set about 15-20 feet away from the bed and/or chairs.  I'd rather have not had one at all so it didn't seem like such a tease.

- Carpets were outdated and ugly (IMHO)

- Bedding was uncomfortable and had lower-rate linens

All-in-all this was one of my favorite stays anywhere.

I would reitirate every good thing all others have posted, but I don't think there's a need.  The five stars should say enough.

For the sake of posterity, though, here are just a few quick points -

Jim and Jamie were great - Jamie F.O.H. and Jim behind-the-scenes
The breakfasts were Great, especially in the garden setting.
The room was large and the linens were nice (We stayed in one of the garden rooms).
Environmentally friendly shampoo and conditioner containers =).
The free port in the living room was a nice touch.
Great location (We walked downtown for dinner).

Our room had no TV, by the way.  So, if that is important to you, I suggest you ask before you book.

Great place, would definitely come back.

Jim and Jamie are the ultimate hosts with an attention to detail that will leave you feeling pampered and refreshed.  My best friend and partner in wine-and-fine-dining, Panos, and I had the pleasure of staying here during the first month that our gracious hosts took over The Daughters Inn and renovated it into The Inn On First.

What a power couple! They have single-handedly made this place one of the finest establishments to stay in Napa.  I'll confess, I can be a bit of a neat freak . . . their rooms define impeccibly clean, take it to the next level in fact, and yet retain a warmth that is at once inviting and romantically dreamy.  How to describe it more accurately? A five-star picnic basket awaits each guest, a balcony to perhaps enjoy a cheese plate and bottle of wine at the end of the day, a fireplace in ones room with two comfy chairs to settle into and read a good book.  Then, there is the spacious hot tub just sitting steps from the bed equipped with bath salts. soft music and a candle to unwind.

Don't stay up too late or you may miss the delicious breakfast and further dining recommendations from my two favorite Inn-keepers in Napa! Just try their home-baked cookies or truffles and you'll understand just a little of the culinary treats they've got in store for you!

First of all, the website (http://theinonfirst.com) is well put together and that already impressed me even before I went on my romantic getaway to The Inn on First this weekend - there's a feature there where you can view the room from a 360 degree angle.

We originally had requested "First Crush" because the room "Veraison" was already booked (would have been my first choice) but it was no longer available too so we were booked for the room "Encantment" only to be surprised later about a week before our stay that we had the option of upgrading to "Vintage Reserve" for free (one of the two largest luxury suites)

It was my first bed and breakfast experience and I was definitely not disappointed. I was planning on bringing my iPod with me since it said that they have iPod-ready alarms but was pleased to see that it also was a cd player with a collection of cds already there for us to choose from (Jaime has good taste, what can you say).

I also loved how the shower is separate from the hot tub (both very roomy and the shower head is also huge too). I guess maybe one of the only downsides was that the hot tub jet power wasn't as strong as what I'm used to (and a little noisier so it competed with the music) but I couldn't complain because of the romantic privacy (oh, if only I remembered to bring candles with me!), the bath salts (which I also forgot to bring with me so thank goodness), and the champagne service we requested and indulged in.

In addition to the champagne, there were a variety of beverages that my partner was very pleased with (including rhubarb soda and lavender soda - which neither of us have ever had) and the chocolate sauce and selection of fruits (which unfortunately we could not finish!) And did I mention that all of this was inside a refrigerator inside the lovely chest dresser thingie?

They have Jim's brownies and refreshments available 24/7 in the dining room and I did get to have some this morning with my breakfast which included:

- juicy (but crispy on the outside) doughnuts made by Jim (they had this apricot filling in them?) with just the right amount of icing on them

- fresh fruit, yogurt, Jim's very own homemade granola

- a hot entree of egg over spiced (not hot spicy, if you know what I mean) pilaf with Jim's own homemade naan bread garnished with mini tomato halves and onions (taste + presentation + just the right amount). My partner loved how the yolk spilled over the pilaf when you slice it open with the fork.

- they also have a wide selection of tea (which I love since I'm a tea person and can't drink coffee - there was a coffee maker in our room which my partner did take advantage of)

It was also nice being personally greeted and served juice and what-not by both Jaime and Jim (with Jaime's explanation of the dishes) while we were eating breakfast (which we ate outside in the beautiful garden).

The scenery from the room was also very nice too (there's a balcony outside the French doors overlooking it all).

It also helped that the Inn on First was very close to the restaurant where I made dinner reservations at (we walked there) and the General Store where we met up the hot air balloon ride staff this morning for our ride.

Since we both live in the bay area we are sure to come back again in the future for a getaway close enough to home but far enough to feel very far from home.

Jamie and Jim have really put together an extraordinary inn that provides guests with a complete experience. It's not just a night sleeping somewhere - being able to talk with them, hear their stories, and taste Jim's outstanding cuisine is a true privilege.

We stayed in the Heritage Estate room, which was just exquisite. As everyone else has mentioned, the small touches are what make this inn a stand-out. We particularly appreciated the extra effort for our dog; it's rare to find accommodations that not only welcome but truly enjoy the canine guests! Beyond that, everything down to the smell of the room was perfect. The entire inn is gorgeously appointed and Jamie and Jim infuse every detail of the place with their impeccable contemporary taste.

They will help with everything, from making a dinner reservation (we changed our minds twice in one evening and they accommodated us without flinching) to choosing tasting rooms (complete with coupons) to arranging for a private in-room massage (delightful).

Breakfast in the garden is scrumptious and unparalleled. The homemade granola is to die for, and the seasonal fresh fruit is a perfect complement to that first course. Whatever baked good Jamie serves up will inevitably be incredible, but the mini churros we got were basically heaven in my mouth. Good strong coffee and yummy fresh orange juice complete the beginning of the meal. Then comes the main course - one can't even imagine how Jamie thinks up the combination of delicate flavors that play together so deliciously on the palate. I wish he could be my personal chef.

All in all, if you're looking for a get away at a truly unique B and B, don't pass up the Inn on First. You will most definitely not be disappointed. Thank you, Jamie and Jim, for a truly extraordinary weekend! We will be back without a doubt.

I came here with very high expectations after seeing the yelp reviews, and they still impressed the heck out of me.
From the moment you walk into the inn till they moment you leave, everything about the inn on first is top notch.  Jim and Jamie were both warm, friendly, and knowledgeable of the Napa area.  They made great recommendations of where to go.
We stayed  in the Sweet Reserve room, which is the cheapest room they have, but it was still amazing.  The bed was comfortable, there is air conditioning, with a huge shower and whirlpool tub.  The downstairs of the Inn is stocked with delicious chocolate chip cookies, port, and specialty sodas.
I cannot recommend this place more.

Absolutely wonderful!! We stayed at the Inn on First for a week for our one year anniversary. It is hands down the best B&B experience we have had (we are frequenters of B&Bs). We got to move around to different rooms because we stayed over Memorial Day week and booked late, so we stayed in 3 different rooms over the week and it was so nice. Each room has a hot tub for two, super romantic. Jim and Jamie are wonderful people, amazing conversation every morning, we loved the breakfasts, and we enjoyed meeting the other guests. Every day Jim, Jamie, or Mercedes would sit down with us and give us a personalized recommendation of wineries to visit that day, depending on our mood and tastes. Mercedes gave us super recommendations for dinner and took care of making our dinner reservations for the entire week. Absolutely beautiful garden and flowers. Definitely don't miss staying here.

I found the Inn on First through TripAdvisor and was astounded by the reviews.  After spending 2 nights there with my girlfriend and our puppy, I can now see what all the fuss is about.

There's a lot to like about the Inn.  First off, the innkeepers, Jamie and Jim, were incredibly kind.  I had spoken to Jamie on the phone earlier that day to inform him we'd be arriving late.  When we showed up at 10pm, the key was where it was supposed to be and the Lover's package (rose petals shaped in a heart on the bed and champagne) was set up as a surprise for my girlfriend.  Both mornings we got to chat a bit with Jamie and he was incredibly kind, interesting and funny.  Jim was busy most mornings handling the cooking, which was PHENOMENAL.  Honestly, two excellent breakfasts that you would pay $20/plate for at many restaurants.  Very original recipes too, and they were mindful of my request not to have any meat in my breakfast (they had a pot-pie with bacon for guests, but no bacon in mine).

The first morning I asked Jamie if he had any recommendations on dog friendly wineries and he took out a map and gave me detailed ideas on the best places to go and the most scenic routes to get to them.  His recommendations were excellent and we had a wonderful time.

The room (Incantment was the room name), had excellent use of space.  The jacuzzi tub was great, the shower was huge.  They even had dog bowls and a bed for our puppy.  The room opened onto a nice private patio.  The pictures on their site or on TripAadvisor can give you a better idea, but I can confirm that it was perfect for what we were looking for.

If you are looking for a place in Napa, I couldnt recommend a B&B experience any higher than this one.

Stayed here a second time and it was just as fabulous, this time in cold rainy weather so we could take advantage of the in-room fireplace. We brought friends and they were totally blown away. They loved their huge room, the Meritage. We chose the Incantment room since it has the heart-shaped tub. :)

Totally unforgettable weekend, plus they gave us 10% off for being repeat guests. Breakfast lasagne and homemade scones were delicious.

Jim and Jamie-we will be back!

Extraordinary jewel in the heart of Napa!!  Boyfriend and I went to Napa to celebrate his birthday and couldn't have had a better bed and breakfast experience (it was actually my first!)... the rooms were cozy and comfortable without being like "grandmas" and we loved the hot tub!    The whole house was actually really warm and welcoming with a big fireplace in the living room and a sunny dining room with attached patio.  Jim, our gracious host, made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived.  In addition, his wealth of information was extremely helpful and his breakfasts were delicious!!  Also the chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon/evening were awesome (we couldn't stop eating them).
Other perks included being walking distance from several downtown restaurants (~ a mile), from which Jim helped us to pick one out...

Overall we had a wonderful experience and would not hesitate to stay there again!!

Note-- there are no tvs in the room which i actually preferred, though it took my boyfriend a few minutes to get over the shock (he survived).

A superb B & B experience, from the first minute to the last. Lovely touches, such as the little homemade filled cookies, brownies and truffles at the tea table. Jim is a fabulous and creative chef - worth staying there just for the breakfasts. Can you tell I'm fixated on food?

Inn on First has a homey and warm feel that was perfect for our little get away. I had delightful conversations with a couple of other guests in their beautiful living room, while enjoying the music in the background and drinking their complimentary port.

A cautionary note/treat, depending on how you feel about Christmas: if you like Christmas decorations, this is the place to stay in December - huge "snow-covered" tree with lots of ornaments, a miniture "town" in winter scene, a little nativity scene and other Christmasy things around the living room. My spouse, who has to deal with me, the world's biggest Scrooge, was in heaven (while I tried to ignore it all).

Jamie and Jim are delightful, genuinely reveling in socializing and offering helpful information about local restaurants and wine tasting options.

Ok, one more food note: while staying there, it's imperative you try the extraordinarily good Ubuntu for dinner. You'll never think of vegetables in the same way after dining there.

This place is amazing!!! I was a B&B virgin until my stay here and I must say that I was missing out! Every small detail was taken care of by the two super sweet inn keepers. From the time we arrived they made sure we had EVERYTHING we needed and MORE! Waiting for us in our room was wine, a cheese plate, and complimentary champagne and chocolate along with natural bath salts for the GIANT jetted tub that could fit 3! There was also a fireplace in the room, huge walk in shower, music playing and great decor. We had the Budding Vines room which looks over first street, we loved that room but they also offer rooms off the main building which allow pets!

The inn keepers made great recommendations on restaurants and local wineries to visit. Breakfast, that is included, is homemade and amazing! We had lavender infused local honey and pear crepes with homemade whipped cream, they were to die for!!

I highly recommend this B&B for anyone looking for a quiet romantic weekend!

Disclaimer - I didn't actually stay here (yet).

We did stay at the Beazley House next door.  Upon returning from a wine tasting tour, there were 2 couples remaining on the bus.  Our driver remarked "ah, you've picked the best B&B in town".  Then we realized he didn't mean us, it was the couple staying at the Inn on First.  He chuckled and said "ah, you guys chose the oldest B&B in town".

He explained that the Inn on First was set up for the Beazley's daughter, and that it was later resold.

Intrigued, we popped in the next day to check it out.  One of the owners was happy to show us around, and personally I much preferred the modern decor to the passe Victorian-ness next door.

If you like your B&B with a modern bent, this is the place to try.

Obviously I can't comment on the service, otherwise I'd likely be awarding 5 stars.  Definitely on my must-try list though.

Loved this place.  Jim and Jamie rock!
They are super helpful hosts, that will give you the low-down on what is good, great, and so-so in Napa.  Rooms and decor are typical bed-n-breakfast with more of a modern flair.  Breaksfast was wonderful (which is easy when one of the hosts is a chef).  There is also a beautiful courtyard/garden on site.

So why no five stars?  Accommodations were nice, but not 5 star hotel great .  Also, there is a noise curfew and no television in your room.  If you are looking for peace and quiet, that is great.  But sometimes its nice to cuddle with your honey with a bottle of wine and a good movie.

We came her for Bailey's birthday. And it was just awesome. The cleanliness and attention to detail was amazing as well as the hospitality. Our rates were so worth that experience. Your room is ready for you with some chocolate and gourmet sodas and a small bottle of Mumm bubbly. Breakfast is served to order with not just eggs and bacon but really gourmet choice like polenta with a house made smoky chipotle like tomato sauce and asparagus with a poached egg (YUM)
Jim, Mercedes, and Morgan were so nice to us and helped us plan our days in Napa and checked on us daily to see how our days were going and really took the time to make us feel at home there. They have a really nice little library/lounge to hang out in and their garden is beautiful as well.
to top it off i left my beloved nikon d70 behind and THEY called me telling me they found it and how i would like it shipped to me!
They gave us tasting passes to some great tasting rooms and just made our trip very special.

we will be back.

im and Jamie are amazing hosts! Our room, Heritage Estate, was absolutely charming. Jim's breakfasts know no bounds. His culinary creations are as delicious as the are lovely - seriously, I took pictures! While Jim is hard at work cooking breakfast, Jamie is out ensuring everyone's comfort. During and after breakfast, they were both more than happy to give directions to the best wine and food destinations in the area. Their staff is as warm and friendly as they are. If you are staying at a B&B in Napa Valley, this is the place to be. We HIGHLY recommend it!

After being stressssed the eff out at my new job, I decided that I needed to go on a well deserved mini vacation.  For two days, I was trying to find an affordable B&B in Napa, but every place I found that was even remotely close to my price range was completely booked. On a Thursday afternoon, I had nearly given up...then I found The Inn on First.  I immediately call them, booked a room with a discounted rate (they offer really good deals if you book a room less than 24 hours in advance), and packed my bags.

Since I have never been to a B&B before, but had consulted an expert in advance (Thanks Diana!), I had really high expectations.  The Inn on First exceeded my expectations.  Jim and Jamie are awesome -- so friendly and so welcoming!  Jamie even personally walked us up to our room and showed us how to work everything in our room. Check out the website for a list of amenities, but here are just some of the little things that I loved about this place -- the modern decor of the rooms (there are 360 camera views on the website), hot tubs in each room, fresh cookies 24/7 in the lobby, and a community fridge stocked with Dry Sodas (rhubarb was my fave).

I would definitely go back here again. Why not 5 stars you ask? The walls are a little thin.  The other guests were nice and respectful, but I could see how the wrong group of guests could spoil another couple's weekend.

Spent a night here and found Jamie and Jim to be so friendly and accommodating. Jamie was kind enough to let us stop by hours before check-in time and spent time with us going over winery recommendations and mapping out a schedule for us. We had a fun day tasting wine with free passes from the inn. We got back to the inn and checked in, and felt right at home. The fire was going, there were warm cookies to greet us, and tasty treats (homemade brittle anyone?) awaited us in our room. My companion also had to print out some stuff for the following day, and was able to use their imac and printer in the lobby. And we can't compliment Jim's breakfast enough! His honey/lavender roasted pear crepes with homemade caramel sauce and homemade pork sausage (try saying that three times fast) were absolute bliss, and I'm embarrassed to say I also pigged out on three homemade mini scones before that.

I was afraid that the B&B thing was maybe not for us, as we're relatively young, but we felt right at home at the Inn on First. If we're back in Napa, we'd definitely stay here again.

This B&B should be in the instruction manual for anyone who ever wants to open a B&B, because they have nailed it! Maybe Dean and Tori Inn Love oughta stay here for a weekend and get some pointers! ;)

From the minute we walked in, I was in love! Not with my boyfriend (see Culinary Academy Greystone: http://www.yelp.com/bi...) review, but with this adorable little place. We had searched online before booking it and like Chris S mentioned there are a ton of B&B's in Napa, but there was something about this one that just said home for a weekend.

We stayed in the Periwinkle Room http://www.daughtersin...
because...
A) It had a heart shaped tub and this was like the ultimate sleazy hotel adventure meets classy and that was much like the relationship :)
B) I kinda liked the bold blues and thought it would be fun
C) The Poppy Room was already booked (http://www.daughtersin...) so this was a good second choice.

Over the course of the weekend we enjoyed yummy breakfasts, top notch service and a warm and friendly staff that really pulled out all of the stops for us. They made shuttle arrangements, tasty omelets and even made a special batch of cookies for me without cinnamon! That in and of itself was worth the price of admission, because they sooo didn't have to go that extra step...although having a dead hotel guest from an allergy could put a cramp in sales, but anyhoo, it was much appreciated.

To top it off, as we were leaving, my brilliant ex left the headlights on on the rental all night and the battery was dead, but they jumped to our rescue without a seconds hesitation and recharged that battery so we could make it back to LA to breakup!

Thanks Daughter's Inn, you were awesome!

My girlfriend and I went to Napa for a weekend getaway from the city, and the Inn on First made our trip WONDERFUL!  We stayed in the Vintage Reserve room, which was absolutely gorgeous!  Jamie and Jim were top notch inn-keepers and made us feel right at home.  Jamie was so warm and friendly and gave us fabulous recommendations, even making our dinner reservations for us.  Jim's breakfasts were great, especially the chocolate filled pancakes with whipped cream and strawberries.  The room was very modern and extremely comfortable, not at all old fashioned like many B&Bs.  We will recommend the Inn on First to all our friends and we hope to return again soon!

Why, oh why, am I limited to only 5 stars?  It doesn't do this place justice. There are a lot of B&B's in Napa Valley.  I am sure most of them have all the amenities you'd want or need, but The Daughter's Inn really excels.

When you arrive, you'll be treated to a short tour where they'll show you the living room area (complete with Beazley House Chocolate Chip Cookies and cream sherry), the dining room, the garden (great place to have breakfast), and your WONDERFUL room.  (No, really, go look at their website.)

Brooke and Perry, the couple that own the place, are awesome.  Perry's a tattooed rockabilly (which kind of lends the place a freak-friendly feel to it) that loves to talk and has some great stories.  They're a great couple and a big reason we love this place so much

Sidenote: The name Daughter's Inn comes from the fact that Brooke's parents run the oldest B&B in Napa, the Beazley House.

UPDATE (10OCT06):  Brooke and Perry are no longer there.  They moved (back) to Reno.  *sadness ensues*

like a home away from home.  our room was clean and comfortable but the hosts and their hospitality really set this inn over the top for us.

the room was large and the shower and tub were extra large.  bed comfortable.  I had some problem trying to adjust the temp on the fireplace/heat source.  it is the same controller I have at home, but late that night it's logic escaped me (could be the wine I'd consumed, or that I'm just not that smart).  my wife had no problem adjusting it in the morning.

I got up and soaked myself in that huge jacuzzi tub.  really hot water.  I'm really good at figuring out plumbing devices.  really, if plumbing fixtures were on IQ tests, I'd be a mensa member.  then I got out and toasted myself by that roaring fire.  then, I opened the french doors and let the fog embrace me!  it was rejuvenating and I've heard that similar spa treatments down in big sur will set you back several hundred dollars, so this was a bonus that made the room price free.  the in room coffe was my next remedy and then into the main house for breakfast.

BREAKFAST!  yes, it was fantastic.  similarly, a breakfast of this caliber would set you back a good bit of $.  the coffee was great, the fruit fresh, the fresh orange juice, and that french toast....  it all put us back to 100% operational speed.  refueled, we set out to explore more wineries.

thank you Jim and Jamie!

We almost didn't make it to the Inn on First and am so glad that it worked out  because it was perfect and just what I needed!  I absolutely loved how warm, personable and accommodating Jim and Jamie are.  I had a family emergency come up, but they were able to work with us in our reservations. I really appreciated how Jim, Jamie and Mercedes got to know us and made an extra effort to make us feel welcome - what a wonderful first B&B experience! I've already recommended The Inn on First to friends and family.

The Inn is walking distance to shops (like Safeway - to get milk to go with their delicious chocolate chip cookies!!!) and restaurants (we ate at Pearl for dinner).  It's a nice drive from the Bay Area (about an hour without traffic), half an hour from Sonoma eateries and outlet shopping, and 10 mins. from Yountville.

I really loved being able to roll out of bed and walk downstairs for breakfast - Jim made an awesome "Jim-ified" French Toast. Yum!
Did I mentioned I loved their chocolate chip cookies??

My wife and I came here based on the reviews on yelp and we were not disappointed. The grounds are beautiful and the owners were very helpful in recommending places. We stayed in one of the larger rooms in building on the back of the grounds. It was large, much to the delight of my wife. The room was romantic  and we had a very nice night. Our breakfast was delicious and we got to meet other guests. This is the first b&b we've stayed at in napa and we would definitely come back.

Like Chris S. said...I'm sure there are PLENTY or B & B's in the Napa region that will cater to ya and offer you many amenities but The Daughter's Inn is such a diamond...ya can't beat it!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for my birthday over Labor Day weekend in '05 and were pleasantly surprised.  Cozy little rooms (expensive during high season so be warned!)...ours had a jacuzzi tub which was oh-so-relaxing after a TEN winery tour! lol  Thankfully we didn't drown after so much vino imbibing.  The sherry and chocolate chip cookies are delish downstairs.  The breakfast are phenominal...y'all sit around a table family-style!  A cool bonus...since ya know, we needed MORE wine...we called Brooke (one of the owners) and she got us a bottle pretty late at night.  VERY accomodating...lovely grounds...walking distance into town.

My fiance and I went to Napa this past weekend with our Chinese Crested Dog, Sobe. We were hesitant to stay at a B&B, having a bad experience last year at one in MA.  However, the Inn was dog-friendly and we relented. Well, we are happy we did! The whole weekend was just perfect! We stayed in one of the garden rooms, having our own private patio and a heart-shaped jacuzzi tub. Jim and Jamie didn't leave a single detail out- down to the homemade CDs to play in our room!  Our puppy even got a gift bag! Beside the room, the general patio area is so lovely and such a great place to enjoy a bottle of wine (which we did Saturday before dinner!).  The homemade breakfast that Jim cooks is out of this world. WHile Jim cooks breakfast, Jamie comes around and chats with everyone. They are both so personable and remember details about you and you feel that they really want to make your stay the best it can be. My fiance and I are already thinking of a time we can go next as we just fell in love with the Inn. We totally recommend this Inn to anyone who is looking for an intimate, relaxing weekend in a quaint Inn.

I went with my boyfriend and we both had an amazing time. I highly recommend the Angels Share room! from the food to the room decor and small details left in the room and around the property were first rate. This B&B deserves more than just 5 stars!
If you don't stay here, you are missing out!

Thank you Jim and Jamie!

We just came back from the trip to Napa, and we stayed one night at the Daughters Inn-absolutely loved it!  First time at B&B felt like I was in a story book-everything was just lovely.

Jim and Jamie, the owners, were soooooooo nice, super cool, very very friendly, and the Inn really showed their personality.   We stayed in a cute, giant room Poppy which was furnished in red and we also a heart-shaped jacuzzi that allowed ample room for 2 of us.  The only thing was it seemed like the cleaning  ladies had rooms open when they were cleaning, and the ceiling had quite a lot of bugs and some spiders, but that didnt keep us from giving this place 4 stars because of the owners genuine willingness to quickly solve that problem, help us and make us at home, as well as the room, and their great breakfast!! (Jim-we loved your quiche, egg, breakfast-I loved the sauce too!!)

Will definitely recommend for people wanting to get a taste of what it is like to live in Napa-such a cute B&B, I felt they put so much effort in rooms and in the decor of the whole inn-this place is very much worth the repeat.  Thank you Jim for the generous tour of the history of the Inn and the recommendation of Magnolia-hope to see you soon!

When my bf and I first checked in here, there was another couple checking in just before us and it felt rather weird to me standing around admiring the chocolate chip cookies and alcohol that are always available in the main house/building foyer and waiting to check in and make sure payment method and whatnot are all in order. It felt slightly sleezy like everyone knew we were here to sex each other up and we may as well have been checking into a pay-by-the-hour motel. Except, of course, this place is much nicer.

They serve a breakfast here in the mornings in a little dining room area, and it looked like it would be quite nice. They will also let you pre-order breakfast and have it delivered to your room the next morning, but we never managed to do either of those things because we went out to eat and didn't pre-order in time (10pm or something I think) and we totally did not get up in time to actually leave the room for breakfast. We also missed the wine tasting they had in the early evening, but they were nice enough to deliver a bottle of wine to our room.

I feel great guilt over everything I have to say about our room. My bf picked the place and it feels a little like I'm attacking his choice and I'm NOT I just ah...it just wasn't my favorite place. At least I refrained from writing my thoughts in the little journal they keep in the room for people to share their experiences (some of which were a little spicy!)

The first thing that bugged me about our room (the Poppy room) is that it had no view. It had two windows and one looked at a wooden fence and the other on their small parking lot...right at ground level...so basically it was necessary to keep the blinds shut and it felt like being in a cave.

The second thing..actually the very first thing I noticed about the room...the bathroom isn't really separate. Our room had a very nice heart shaped jacuzzi smack-dab in the middle of the room (well, it looked nice but we didn't actually use it...partly because they have some remote thing that turns off the jets after ten pm because of the amount of noise they make...which I basically understand except if you check in, go to the wine tasting, go out to dinner...when are you supposed to use the jacuzzi except after 10pm? Maybe they just shouldn't have one if the noise is a problem.) The toilet is in a separate little room, but the sinks are just *bam* right there, and the shower is right out in the open as well, with a big glass door. This doesn't bother me for modesty reasons so much as for the fact that I think it's disruptive. Like if I want to brush my teeth while my bf is trying to sleep, I can pretty much guarantee it's going to wake him up because I'm RIGHT THERE. Even a partial divider wall would have been nice.

This room had a nice gas fireplace, but in front of it were two chairs. I thought that was an odd choice to have in a room that otherwise seemed to be going for a romantic feel. Why not a loveseat instead? I found a picture of this room on their website that I think captures the feel of it quite well: http://www.daughtersin...
Look how awkward the couple in the picture look, with one person sitting in a chair while the other one hovers over them! You just know those people were jonesing for a loveseat to cuddle up on.

Maybe it's just me but I couldn't shake the feeling that the whole thing, from its barn-red walls to the light fixtures, was a DIY project from Home Depot that was then furnished from the Bombay store, or maybe from the furnishings section of Marshall's. Maybe I'm just too picky, and it's a B&B and it's supposed to look that way (sort of homey/homemade/diy), but I couldn't see it as a nice room, I was only able to see it as its separate DIY components. Probably some windows with a view of a nice garden or something would have distracted me from this.

Now, I must say, my bf liked this place much more than I did and overall it is nice. Maybe I am just not much of a B&B person. Maybe I'm just not enough of a sociable people person to ever feel totally comfortable in one of these places, and I'd rather have the anonymity of a more hotel-like atmosphere. Who knows...we might actually stay here again, after all, it was the first place we ever stayed overnight together, so I can't help but have a certain fondness for it. Oh but wait...now that I wrote this Yelp review...my bf will probably feel we can never show our faces here again. Oops.

got lucky and was able to get a last minute room for this past weekend.  someone had canceled and we were able to get the sweet pea room, which is the smallest of all 10 rooms.  this room was in the main mansion and it was just adorable - they have a separate building with more rooms and these rooms have balconies and are dog friendly.  the mansion itself is a dog free zone.   anyhoo, as for our charming little room,  the bathroom was SO nice, jet tub big enough for 2 and a big shower stall...really cool tiling, too.  the bed was so comfy -- down comforter and down pillows, etc.  we also had a fireplace in the room, but of course napa was way too warm for us to use it.

they have a beautiful back garden with a water fall and seating all around.  even after we checked out, we just sat in the garden and just vegged and hung out for a bit before we got back on the road.

jim and jaime who run the place have only been doing it for 9 weeks, and they're doing a wonderful job.   i can't say enough about these two, so i'll just keep it simple - they're awesome!  they make these cookies and keep them in the living room downstairs - a must try, YUM.  they make a wonderful breakfast and keep a really warm and friendly environment through out the whole b&b.

i would highly recommend this place...great hosts, comfortable/cozy/romantic environment...just the perfect spot for a little get away.

The Inn on First (formerly the Daughter's Inn) run by Jamie and Jim is amazing. The website gives a really good tour of the rooms, but when you get there you realize the rooms are even nicer than you thought (and they looked astounding). Heart shaped jacuzzi tub, fireplace linked to the heater (turn up the heat, fire grows), large room, perfect for the massages I ordered us. The breakfast is so good, fresh granola, fruit, and yogurt to start, and for us eggs, gnocchi with bacon, so good I had seconds of the fruit and thought of breakfast for days. Jim and Jamie were superb, really I cannot say enough about this place, all the little details they get right show this is the best B&B in Napa. Check them out on tripadvisor also, there are about 40 5 star reviews.

only had a day to stay here, but it was fantastic all around.

the hosts, jim and jamie, are fantastic, superbly nice, and very knowledgeable. jamie recommended several wineries and provided free tasting passes. they also set us up with a reservation for a great meal at the farm restaurant at carneros inn.

the room was clean and nicely prepared upon arrival, including complimentary homemade cookies and chocolate truffles a la jim. his chocolate chip cookies, available throughout the day, were also phenomenal. breakfast was great as well, including homemade granola and a massive (and almost-too-heavy) pancake with chocolate ganache, whipped mascarpone, and fresh strawberries.

looking forward to returning for a longer visit the next time we have the opportunity.

My husband and I stayed one night there last weekend.  We wish it could have been longer!  We stayed in the Noble Vineyard room, which was absolutely huge and beautiful.  The decoration of the room is modern and cozy.  My husband said he would live in the room if he could! Jim and Jamie are excellent hosts.  They are helpful and fun to talk to, but are not pushy or awkward.  You feel like you are visiting a friend's home that has a ton of big comfortable rooms to choose from.  The inn also has some personal touches that you just do not get at other locations.  Homemade treats welcome you when you enter the room, and there's beverages, cookies and port to enjoy.  Where else do you get that little bit extra? The breakfast was yummy also! We will definitely be coming back and I recommend this place to anyone who wants to relax, have fun and enjoy some time away.

My husband and I along with our daughter and her husband stayed at this wonderful inn recently and had a memorable time. While my husband and I have stayed at B&B's in the past many times my children had not and are accustomed to high end hotels. So I was a bit apprehensive about the accommodations. But we where all so pleased. The grounds and the rooms where impeccable, every detail from toiletries to truffles where provided. The innkeepers, Jamie and Jim are the loveliest people. The breakfasts where gourmet and have spoiled me. Jamie had many helpful suggestions about our tour of Napa and the winery's, and best of all made our dinner reservations at a number of the elite restaurants that the valley has to offer. From the time you arrive until your departure you will be made to feel a part of the family. We HIGHLY recommend The Inn on First.

We stayed here for 2 days during the week to satiate our Napa winery fix and get away from the city.  We found the Inn to be very nice except for the thin walls and non-working jacuzzi in our room.  The proprietors set out fresh warm chocolate chip cookies and sherry for us when we arrived and a fire was going upon our return from dinner each night.  Because of the noisy neighbors staying at the Inn and the jacuzzi situation, I will probably check out another place to stay on our next visit to the Napa area.

As if going to the Wine Country for the grapes alone isn't enough, now I would go just to spend an evening with Jim and Jamie and their fantastic little four legged friends at the Inn on First.  The rooms were spacious, inspired, quiet and very clean.  We stayed out in the Carriage House, on the downstairs with rooms on either side, and heard nothing.  Ok ok, enough about the room...go for Jim's cooking.  He is seriously amazing.  I'm sure they are both responsible, but if I remember correctly, it is Jim that makes the magic happen in the kitchen.  The breakfast was so mouthwatering good...you don't want it to end.  He also puts out some "past your lips, and on your hips," cookies that are a perfect late night snack.  Would recommend this place to all.  I would have given it 5 stars, but I'm a TV fan, and even on a romantic evening, I like a little late night movie...it would have made the stay perfect to have movies and Jim's cookies together :)  I will go back for sure!  Great place to go and feel good.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Inn on First.  I was in Napa not for wine tasting, but for a triathlon, and found the whole experience to be the perfect way to get ready for the race.  The owners, Jim and Jamie were really hospitable and sincerely nice guys.  We shared stories about our experiences living in San Francisco and racing in triathlons.  They were very supportive with their words of encouragement.  The first morning there, they served a wonderful breakfast.  On the second morning,  Jim and Jamie treated me to a pre-triathlon package of fruits, a Cliff Bar, Aleve, and water!  The house, gardens, and room were all fantastic as well.  And, the Inn on First is Pet Friendly!  My dog Lilly got to join me in top notch doggie comfort with her doggie bed, treats, and toys.  As a nice final touch to the experience, Jim and Jamie let us check out late after the triathlon so that I could shower and use the hot tub before I drove back to San Francisco.  That was a really nice treat after the race.  The icing on the cake was the post-race chocolate chip cookies!!!  It'll be great to stay there again next time I go wine tasting.

I loved it here. We have stayed all around Napa - at Inns, B&Bs, and cottages, and this was one of the nicest overall experiences I've had. My college friends flew in from the ATL and DC for a lil wine tasting/reunion, and all 6 of us stayed here. The innkeepers, Jamie & Jim, were overly friendly and helpful to our "colorful" group; they handled us with grace and aplomb. i think we stand out as somewhat more spunky than the typical napa clientele. at any rate, our room was spacious and clean with attention to detail, a wonderful deck, and lovely furniture pieces and fixtures. we lounged downstairs around the fire and hung out on the back patio chatting. there were cookies available at night, which were delish and a nice touch. the breakfast was excellent, and there were many options available: fruit, scones, granola, yogurt, teas, coffee, and french toast for the meal. when it came time to leave, jamie gave us some great recs for wineries. we will definitely return - AND the best part is they are DOG FRIENDLY!!! we'll come back with the lil one, and hopefully she will be accepted by oscar, hugo, and calvin, the 3 schnauzers.
