4 reviews for The Inn at Deep Canyon
Called for rates on Saturday night and was told $79. That rate was the best I was quoted in 4 calls around the desert that morning. So I told them I would do a walk-in reservation around 1pm. Arrived around 130pm and was given an even better rate than quoted ($59) for a room that also had a full kitchen and dining set-up!
Room 110, along with all the other rooms are just several feet from the pool and sauna. Its a little apartment complex looking place with double door at each room. Free continental breakfast served each morning at 8.
November and December are the starting of "the season" out there and the rates get steep, so this was perfect!
Its convenient and mere walking distance to 2 shopping centers, fast food, liquor store and a couple restaurant / nightclubs.

Frankly, I'm pretty mystified by the 4- and 5-star ratings that this hotel has received. Maybe I just got the worst room in the joint? Here's what I experienced:
The room REEKED of smoke (it was supposed to be a non-smoking room).
There were enormous dead cockroaches in the hallway.
There was a super-bright security light right outside, on all night long, that wasn't blocked by the window blinds, so the room was really bright at night.
The water in the shower went from nice & warm, to scalding, to freezing, and back again several times per shower.
There were burn or scorch marks on the comforter, reminiscent of cigarette burns.
It was really loud, to the point that I got up and put earplugs in during the night.
To the hotel's credit, the pool and surrounding area seemed lovely, and the breakfast was good (fresh bagels) the one morning I was able to partake.
This place is very affordable and conveniently located, so I MIGHT give it another shot if I had to, but I'd request a better room and bring my earplugs and some room freshener!

Okay, four stars because they're clean. I don't know why, but it is GOSH DARN HARD to find a cheap but nice place to stay in Palm Desert (no, not Palm Springs) where you don't want to fork over $300 on a holiday weekend for some spa resort BUT you still want to sleep somewhere that's not going to give you scabies.
I found this place randomly online while desperately googling around, and it was alright. The staff is small, the room was clean, the bathroom was huge, and the whole place looks like a sweet poolside motel (complete with patios and french doors and old men sitting in their swimming trunks, reading the newspaper) from the 60's. But without any annoying kitschyness and irony.
The only con was the fact that I could literally HEAR EVERYTHING GOING ON in the room next door. From 9:00pm - 1:00am. This was probably because of our connecting door and not really the fault of the hotel, and I really should have had the balls to knock on their door to tell them to STOP PLAYING THE SUBLIME ALBUM SO FRIGGIN LOUD AND DOING OTHER NASTY STUFF but instead, I just stuffed my ears with earplugs and went to sleep.

I came to The Inn in Februry 1997 with no hotel experience. The owner and I have worked together to turn The Inn around. We redecorated the rooms, replastered the pool and put in a new Jacuzzi. This was the best move I ever made. I love "my" little hotel!
