8 reviews for The Hotel Providence
I am a spontaneous person, who "planned" a romantic weekend to propose to my (now) fiance at Waterfire. The hotel staff was very pleasant, and incredibly accommodating.
One highlight of our stay was that a bellman even helped make my romantic dinner happen by cutting and arranging a dozen roses I had bought off site, and made sure it was on our table when we arrived for dinner at Aspire, which is connected to the hotel! Thank you for making my engagement weekend one to remember for the rest of our lives. : )
Also, dont forget to sign up for Providence Privileges! (I signed up last minute, and they made sure to get us our check-in snack upon realizing we had signed up after the reservation was made.) I can't wait to return!
By the way, the rooms are exquisite!
I really wanted to give this hotel a great review, because it looked so cool and we got a really great deal on our rate. We stayed Saturday night into Sunday for the last Waterfire of the season. The hotel location was ideal for this event as it was in walking distance.. and parking looked like a nightmare, so we were pretty psyched to have valet at the hotel. The accommodations were beautiful and the bar was pretty cool, especially when we were able to order drinks and bring them back to our rooms.
But the "Customer Service" was not up to par to the caliber of the hotel.
I had signed up for the rewards program which was suppose to supply the guest with a sweet or salty treat upon arrival, as well as water your choice of pillow, and USA today in the morning. I inquired about it when I checked in and was told it was in my room already. It wasn't. So I called the front desk and was told I was not in the system and to re give them my information and it would be right up. It never came. I said something at check out and was told by the manager that next time I come it will be all set. Next time might have been a possibility had they not given me misinformation about how much the hold would be on my card. They told me they would put a hold of 100 in my debit card which would go right back into my account the day I checked out. We paid for it on a separate card but they put a hold of 281 on my debit card. That is a pretty significant amount of money to misquote. I called the hotel and they manager again stated he would take care of it immediately. Which he tried to but did not want to wait on hold with the bank. This is extremely inconvenient, and not something an upscale hotel should make a mistake on. Needless to say I will most definitely never be returning to the Hotel Providence, and I was very disappointed in my experience.

Beautiful Hotel , very close to the Providence Place Mall . The lobby was very nice and so were the rooms . The beds were comfy , the bathroom was clean and large . Free internet was nice too.
We stay here for a friend's wedding. Great service, love the character and its perfect location. The best part is that they have a umbrella in ever room - and we happen to need it (we are from California after all). The room and the bathroom is big and clean, the bed is comfy. The only problem is not have enough outlet for us to plug in our 2 NB, 2 cell phones, etc.
I will stay here again next time in Providence.

This is an above average hotel, but it has the usual problem of housekeeping doing nothing more than make the beds. I think they're just expected to rush so much that they don't look around. Okay, nothing big was wrong. The bed was great, the hotel was quiet. There were Molton Brown toiletries, the toilet was a Toto. Someone decided to spend some money on this room. Finally, the vending machines really were a bargain ($1.25 for a bottle of whatever).
But... the safe was locked when we got there so we couldn't use it without calling downstairs and waiting around. The windows didn't lock because they wouldn't close all the way. Someone had broken one of the lamps so that the bulb was touching the lampshade (the one time there's an incandescent bulb, it's touching something flammable). There were rings on the nightstand from a previous guest's drinks. The bathroom floor really should have been given a pass with a mop before we got there.
If you're going to the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC in case anyone's searching on that), this is a good place to stay. Four stars because it's a five star hotel that needs a little more attention paid to the details.

This was the first place I stayed in PVD when apartment hunting. It was no more in price than the majority of other nice hotels and is really right downtown. Our dog was allowed to stay in the room with us. Pet friendly, wow! There was a problem with the climate control system of our room and they gave us a night free as well as knocked off the small pet fee. Dynamite!

This is an establishment par excellence. Went for a girls weekend. Packages available from the hotel. WOW. We were treated very well. The room was large, well decorated. Beds were on the firm side. When we needed champange glasses these were provided swiftly and with a smile. Whenever anything was needed, Staff was very helpful.
Had a minor setback during one of the meals at the accompanying restaurant. When I informed the managers of the restaurant, we we given more than an apology. The restaurant's food is excellent. A well run establishment.
Taxis are gotten with a smile and they hold the door open for you. BEST SERVICE ever received.

This Zagat rated four diamond hotel is absolutely gorgeous. It is luxurious in that old, glamorous 1920's way. The cleanliness of this place was immaculate, the furniture itself was a work of art, and the decor was well matched.
The staff was polite and efficient. They were very helpful in answering my idiot questions like "where are the vending machines" and were able to get me a cab the billion times I asked for one. The vending machine was actually really really cheap and not inflated like at airports and malls. If you want higher dining, this hotel is home to L' Epicureo, a very fine bar and restaurant I ate breakfast in the morning I checked out. There's free wireless throughout the hotel.
This hotel is located downtown in a very crowded and urban area, but don't be afraid of staying here because you won't have a great view. There's nothing to see in Providence anyway, I was on the 19th floor of the Westin and wasn't impressed even though I could see the capital building.
Come to this hotel at least once in your life if you are in Rhode Island. Your wallet and spoiled little girl inside of you will thank you.
- Note: Room service has limited hours and it is actually cheaper to just walk down to L' Epicureo so they won't charge you a service fee
