Could the customer service be any more non-existent at any and every Home Depot?  The only place worse is Fry's Electronics.  You can walk around for days in here and pass a dozen staff members, none of whom will offer to assist you or ask they can help you find anything.  One night a few months ago I got so frustrated and exasperated I walked out.  I e-mailed the corporate office and they sent me a $30 gift card.  I sold it on Craig's List.  I'll stick with Orchard Supply!

Completely appalled at how we were treated at this store. My boyfriend and his father are business owners and spend THOUSANDS of dollars at home depot a year. My boyfriend (Caucasian) goes here ALL the time (with his gloves in his back pocket) and has never been accused or even stopped about his gloves. How ironic that when my boyfriend, his coworker (Hispanic), and I walked into home depot (my bf and his co worker had their own gloves, as usual, which were obviously worn, holes, etc.), we had picked up a few items to purchase and went to look at the gloves to purchase new ones. One lady running around with her talking in her walkie talkie, mentioned something about gloves, then after we checked out, another guy that worked there stopped us and ACCUSED them of stealing the gloves! What an embarrassing experience! Accusing PAYING customers of stealing.. based on looks alone.

My experiences have been surprisingly positive at this Home Depot. The staff there has been friendly and helpful when I've had questions. They may not know everything, but I'll admit they're not bad. I've been able to complete many small and larger projects with their help.

My chief complaint is that the staff is sometimes a bit thin especially later in the evenings. Also, the store doesn't seem as clean and organized as Lowes, but this is an older store.

I feel like a butch writing about a place like Home Depot.  Well I have to admit, this place is real good.  You can find any supply you need in this store.  Fo sho.  Prices aren't that bad, I think...  Customer service is really good.  Hey, you can find every shade of paint here too!  coool.

Oh yeah, their orange uniforms are cool.  I think I'll apply here so I can wear those sexy aprons.

I didn't like this particular location at all. The set up was different from all the other stores I have gone too. I couldn't find what I was looking for and I got lost in the store.

I eventually found what I was looking for. I needed a vent duct for the dryer and two clamps. I asked two employees in the store for help with another item. They had no clue. No help at all.

The last thing I needed was a tool set. I found a set in the front of the store in the least obvious place for $15 (Fathers Day Special). I grabbed the set and went to the self check out.

I have to say that the only redeeming quality of this site is that their self check out stands all work. They are quick and I was able to check out in no time.

Wow, build just about anything huge and industrial with what you can buy at this place. I guess that's the benefits of being located in a highly industrial area. Unfortunately you can't get  any sized screw smaller than 1/2 inch (hence the emphasis on industrial). Anyways, didn't find what I wanted but it definitely gave me an idea or two on some installations I'd been meaning to do since art school.

One of the better Home Depot's I have visited.

Since they are close to my work, I went there to exchange a heater.  Freindly folks and very clean store.  Cute cashier too!

For all you die hard community store supporters, I understand why you would hate Home Depot. But when you are in a crunch and need a variety of items, you will have to throw your price out the window and head out to your local Home Depot.

By nature, I am not a supporter of Home Depot. I find their stores to be overcrowded and the staff lacks knowledge of basic equipement/tools. However, I find that the Home Depot is Santa Clara has been able to separate itself from this trend. I have a rental in the area and when my tenants call with a broken lock or leaky pipe, I can always count on home depot to have the supplies and the know how for these minor repairs.

Give them a try and I am sure you will be pleased. But like most major chains, try to avoid them in the mid-afternoon on the weekends - too crowded.

If you're going to go to a Home Depot, this is the one to visit.  I've regularly been to the ones on Capital Expy, Hamilton Ave and Blossom Hill in San Jose and the ones in Cupertino and Sunnyvale and this one is clearly the most convenient.  You can get into and out of this Home Depot faster than any other in the area.

They have plenty of great, knowledgeable staff and they make them available in the store and at the registers so you don't have to wait forever to get help or make your purchases.

I only give this place five stars for their great service.  Overall they get four stars in the world of hardware/construction supply stores, but they do deserve special consideration for their staff.

It wasn't until I started watching those home improvement shows on TV that I understood the appeal of Home Depot.  They have everything there.  If I need Disney Tinker Bell Green Paint DC4A502 - they got it.  If I need a set of 18 inch pagoda lights to brighten my walkway of gnomes - they got it.  If I need the Kohler Pressure LIte Hatbox Toilet for the ultimate "bulk" removal - they got it.

The best part is that they have same day installlation service.  You can even pick the technician that you want to install it for you.  Just buy your stuff, drive to the far end of the parking lot and pick up 1, 2 or 10 guys.

It's also good for nail files, items that can be turned weapons and small pick axes.

BTW:  The girl in the appliance section is pretty cute.

UPDATED 07 February 2007:

The Campbell Home Depot (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) is now my destination of choice.  You'll find stellar service there.

UPDATED 21 January 2007:

I went here to fulfill a specific project.  I knew all the parts I needed.  First thing I did when I walked in was walk to the desk labeled "Customer Service".  No one there.  So I found someone and said, "Is there someone who can help me with my project since there's no one at the customer service desk?" He asked which one.  I pointed.  He said that desk was for contractors and I needed to go to the other desk.  The other desk is labeled "Returns" so I don't see how anyone is supposed to know to go there for customer service.  He then asked what I wanted, then explained how he couldn't help me.  I hadn't asked him to help me, only to aid me in finding someone who could help me.  I'll skip the whole story and say that four people later I was still not able to get what I wanted.  Everyone seemed irritated that I was asking for parts in non-contractor-speak, which seemed ridiculous.  How hard is it to find a clamp for a pipe?  One guy said my request was the most difficult he ever had.  He eventually told me that if we could not find the parts in 5 minutes, I was "on my own".  I was appalled.  I like the service at OSH so much better, but wanted to use my gift card.  I came back over the weekend to work on the same project and to fill a much longer shopping list.  The staff was nicer, but still not especially helpful (took me to electrical to look for the pipe clamp that I explained was for plumbing).  Here's how it went:

* parts for project (I got them, though the printouts of what I wanted still did not result in getting me what I wanted)
* mailbox (I found them but didn't like them)
* fruit picker (couldn't find it)
* waterproof plant pot on casters (couldn't find it; got it at IKEA)
* caps for water pipes (got them)
* watering can (couldn't find it)
* rubber strips to protect metal clamp from marring metal bar (couldn't find it; rigged something at home)
* toolkits, safety measuring tape, step stool (too exhausted to bother looking)

This location has a poorer layout than most and the staff was really unhelpful to me on multiple occasions.  Go to OSH if you can.

Original 4-star review:

This location isn't really near anything else, but that means that the store is big and provides ample parking.  I've found returns to be especially convenient at this location.

Home Depot in general: They will probably have whatever you are looking for from a hardware store, and you can often find someone to help you locate it.  The selection is huge.  They don't offer zero-VOC paints and various other eco-friendly alternatives.  The garden center is good, but I prefer the lifetime guarantee offered by OSH.  I find that most Home Depots smell bad, like a construction site, and this one is no exception.
