You know, for what it is, The Hippo isn't all that bad.  I was there for the first time last summer and I had a blast (I also had a bad hangover the next morning, so maybe I was just drunk enough to have fun)!

I agree the crowd wasn't the best for meeting hotties, but I would describe it more as mixed than "oldsters" because there were a lot of girls there too (as in lesbians, not straight girls).

Parking is extremely convenient and their staff was very friendly.  I like the layout of the club area because it gave me a few options for the route of my self-promotional tour.  You can perch upstairs on the DJ level at the tables, walk around the the main level, or step down to the dance floor.  Speaking of dancing, the spins were hot and I tore it up like some newspaper.

I know I need to stop comparing things I encounter here in Baltimore to my San Francisco memories, but I really don't have a lot of experience in this department, so here it goes. The Hippo has always seemed to me a great spot to hang out and revel in the fact that I am (a) unlikely to get grinded up on (I'm a girl), and (b) likely to have a great time with my friends. Let me just say, I love being the wing girl!

Saturday night, however, was pretty quiet at the Hippo. My friends and I were surprised at the low head count, but we had a great time nonetheless. I love the ledge by the bar that you can sidle up on and relax to survey the scene. Great vantage point! But, unfortunately, I think the eye candy is way cuter in California.

I went here with a great friend to get out of Washington for a night and away from that scene. The space is quite large with a billiards room, video room, large dance floor. I think one of the reasons that we enjoyed it before was because the scene up in b-more is so small we were noticed quicly as 'out of towners' and were rewarded graciously. My friend was caught quickly kissing some twink, and i was stuck on the dance floor acting my usualy fool of a mess self. The only somewhat scary part was when i stepped into the bathroom and hear a conversation between two bears...

Yogi: God!
Bo-Boo: What?!
Yogi: I cant believe i kept this butt plug in all night
Bo-Boo: You (bleep-in) bottom, i told you.
Yogi: i'm in so much pain, it hurts to take it out.
Bo-Boo: you're being loud, stop it.

I couldnt help but laugh, but not in tragedy -- thought it was funny and gross at the same time. If you dont mind a little pain and a mixed crowd -- GO!

I went there with a friend of mine and boy it was DEAD!  I don't know if it had to do with the summer or people at the Orioles Game but it was not happening.  My friend was upset as he was not getting any action and complaining about the crowd of "oldsters".   The place was huge; a dance floor with a billiards room and video room; very nice but I think most people just go to the bar to socialize and drink.

The only action that I had that night was when we left the club early and a guy came up to me to say "hey sexy" and kiss me.  Too bad,  he wasn't interested in my friend as he got pissed and call me FH and told me to catch the bus home. Drama!!!
